peak petrol price

PEAK PETROL PRICE
I apologize in advance as I understand few of you want to talk about oil, especially Peak Oil, but I don't feel like I can ignore this, as important as it is. You are all gung-ho enough when it comes time to bomb Iran ( “nuke them all, take their oil” “Sand Negroes, how dare you defy 'Murika!” ), but you don't want to hear about the reasons oil has made her a target of our ire. I'll repeat, in case you are coming off of a heavy weekend of hookers and blow, we drew first blood over there.
*
During WWII, as FDR was busy wearing out his kneepads genuflecting at Stalin's feet, gobbling his communist goo, Iran was jointly occupied by us and the Soviets. A lot of Lend-Lease was moved through there, giving Russia a de facto warm water port, and evidently it was easier to steal Iranian oil than ship any over to her, or to increase production in the Soviet Union ( many Iranians died that winter from lack of heating fuel-New England , Montana or similarly located minions please note ). To my mind, this was even more evil than installing the Shah.
*
The US has been screwing with Iran for over seventy years. If I was an Iranian, I would be far from pleased. Now, as a patriotic American, I waste plenty of oil, even if not as much as you Happy Motoring psychos, and I'm all for occupying the entire world and draining every last drop and hog it all to ourselves. Food First, bitches, and oil is food nowadays. Alas, it is no longer realistic to think we can continue down this road of nuking them all and taking their Dino Juice. Ask anyone, President Carter is the Scum Of The Universe, and they will give you 101 reasons why this is so.
*
But his only real sin in the eyes of the public was suggesting we had to live within our means and cut back on our oil use. Obammy could have molested a hamster with Michelle's dingus, on live TV, and his approval rating would have stayed higher than Carter's. Just as I am hated, cursed to God, vilified, ostracized, shunned, and roundly ignored when I do the same ( preach the end of oil, not molest small pets ). Luckily for me, I'm not way ahead of the curve like The Other Jimmy was, and I have Global Peak as well as his Domestic Peak backing up my reasoning.
*
Oh, you still all ignore it, I know that. You remind me every day. “Fracking Forever, F**ker, 'Murica! Capitalism!” I get more support for publishing an article for the Disaster Dan's than Survivalist Sam's. Yeah, we want Jim to publish freeze dried, FLIR and MRE articles, like all the rest! Anyway, enough about my greatness. Time to talk about how oil, a continuing problem that won't go away, is once again causing stupidity to “solve” the problem.
*
Seemingly, America needs to go to war. Not to steal the oil, because that ain't happening ( pissed off Iraqi's with AK's are all you need to keep the oil below the ground. All the trillions we spend over there? Not helping much. Soviet stockpiles of Albanian Liberator Weapons are to this day foiling the invading American Capitalists, even if in unexpected ways ). To jack UP the price of oil. And, yes, I understand this seemingly makes no sense. The 70's oil shocks with OPEC was supposed to have seen both sides agreeing that a compromise was necessary, enough profit for the exporters but at a low enough price for importers to keep a functioning economy.
*
When Europe and the US manufacturing sector was the economy, this excuse made sense. Without free to dirt cheap inputs, capitalism breaks down ( remember, that interest has to be paid with real growth. Inputs costs decreasing increase consumption ). And at the time, America didn't REALLY want too cheap of prices herself. We still had a good bit of control over the global oil market ( long since vanished ). Blaming OPEC, we still could enrich our elite at the expense of dismantling our industry.
*
North Sea, Alaskan and Gulf Of Mexico oil just gave us cheap-ER oil, in abundance, but enough profit was now being realized the energy sector was no longer a pure commodity play like it was when we needed it to fuel our factories and military ( we lost Vietnam, period. And we could never reclaim our past glory because oil was declining overall. Remember, your friendly neighborhood central banker want his vig. That requires GROWTH, which needs more energy ). I believe that the '79 oil shock was to our elites benefit, the last body blow to kill off the industrialists and turn over the entire economy to the bankers ( who naturally profited before, during and after the crises ).
*
So, really, it wasn't that our economy needed cheap enough oil, it was that the bankers needed to control that price, high or low. Siberian oil was great for killing off Mom & Pop stores, turning everything into Super Centers with corporate loans, piping in broadband Internet nationally to robotize jobs and bubble up the stock market with the Tech Wreck. Even low oil prices were weaponized against us. The Iraqi war was all about the PetroDollar dominance, Iraqi oil be damned ( if Rumsfeld was telling you the oil was paying for the invasion, since he always lied we should have known that was misdirection ).
*
What was the direct result of the $140 oil price in June of 2008? I do believe Global Peak Conventional Oil pushed it in that direction, but I think that large of a price spike had some artificial help. The price pushed us into the Greater Depression. Weaponized. Yes, the bankers actually did kill the economy with the derivatives bets gone bad, but then they caused the crash that made it profitable for those at the top of the economic pyramid.
*
The crash was already coming. You could guarantee it by 2007. It wasn't like the Derivatives genie was going back in the bottle. I think the top bankers just used the inevitable to make a few more dozens of millions per person. It's only digital illusions of wealth, right? It wasn't like the Boomer generation NEEDED a house to live in. Plenty of rentals for that. Well, I think we are seeing a repeat of this profit taking right now. The bankers knew the US Dollar was toast from the death of the PetroDollar long before you did. Long before I sensed any End Game. They've been planning.
*
They have made profits leading up to the crash, they are profiting now as it unfolds. Will they profit afterwards, or will that be it for American Empire, the last straw on the camels back economically and we disintegrate? I don't know, obviously. It does seem to me that the fracking industry is being bailed out in desperation, no longer by liquidity ( as we are months in on that crises ), but by a Hail Mary pass of jacking up prices to the moon to keep it going a bit longer. Or, that could be rigged and be a deliberate tactic to move oil control elsewhere for the bankers benefit. Continued tomorrow.

  1. I think 21% interest rates and massive unemployment did more for Carters reputation than his sweaters, although folks perceived that as mocking their plight.

Having said that, while oil is at a low, I heard Jim Bohannon interview a guy this morning that said the stock market is vastly overvalued and due a contraction. I was half awake and didn't get the details, but I imagine someone could get a podcast of it somewhere if they are interested. That could make for some spicy times, depending on how much it contracts.

    1. The market has been overvalued for years. As long as the Fed can create trillions, while still controlling the derivatives market, it will stay that way. Derivatives, not "overvaluing", is the fuse.

  2. Right. The whole middle east geo political machinations are raw brute power struggles over the oil. Secondary as part of the efforts is a political, military, etc power and force projections (trade-sea lanes etc) in the regions by both nation state actors AND private bankers, ngo groups, deepstaters of the respective countries involved.

The navy reactivated a fleet group for actions in north atlantic and artic ocean areas. Because oil. Greenland sold/aquired for U.S. possession anyone, and why? (This way the drunkard natives can get sloshed on 'Merican beer like our feathered indigs, instead of Carlsberg beer from denmark!) Yep, core sampling in antartica funded by research entities is also looking for oil, not climate change clues in ice. Nothing is done under studies or research unless a profit or advantage can be gained, law of Uber Capitalism.

This is a world war 3 lite version ongoing right now over oil, it will go (nuclear?) hot version of conflicts once mouth breather numbers overwhelm even more so the available resources, all of them, as well as OIL. Got wheat?
    stay frosty.

    1. "Energy Skeptic" just did an article on the issues of infrastructure for drilling in Arctic.

    2. Russians being different in their own ways put a nuclear reactor on a ship for power source in arctic circle area needs. Thinking forward there, even if sketchy safety. Fusa or western entities couldn't do it cause the greens would cry rape, blocking progress via courts and human detritis barricade tactics. Like referenced before of germany razing old towns to get at coal for power, there will be out of box actions to get oil or other resources, necessity the slut mother of inventions and all. Don't be near valued resources or emminent domain will move your peon ass along out of the way. Stay hermitaged in wastelands.

    3. Even in the wasteland, some damn fool thought they could frack. Luckily for us, it was all top of bubble irrational exuberance and nothing came of it. This is the lush part of the state, and we still have no where enough water for that crap.

    ===============

I don't disagree with much that you write here, in fact, I agree with most of it. Cept that silly nonsense about bolt vs semi, in which you are wrong but won't admit it entirely.

The extinct oil, the stealing fed, the criminal politicians, the muslim criminals, the lying assed media, the conniving corporations. I don't like any of it and there is absolutely nothing I can do about any of it. I have long realized this. I also know the common solution for citizens is to vote but that only seems to make everything worse.

So, since I can't change others, I change me and do so by improving my own life the best I can. In the long view none of this stuff matters and the only thing that does matter is how I get to live every single day of the rest of my life as the world fills more with criminality everywhere.

I do tire of the oil everything here but I realize you are a blogger and do what you do. I'm not complaining, I take the good with the bad and am thankful in total.

    1. I don't know if voting makes it worse, or if it is voters belief that they are part of the process that makes it worse ( the delusion, leading to the complacency ). Hard to say. Did the vote ever count, or was it more recent all control was lost? Appreciate the kind words-they mean a lot.

    2. Oh I LOVE the oil talk here. It is so...so...

      Words fail me. Alas!

      All hail, Lord Bison

    3. My apologies, I should have used a more gentle title. I could have gone with economics. But then, happy and blinded, the contents would have upset you more. A shock you didn't need. Forewarned, my abuse is lessened. PS-I got the sarcasm-presented well. Bravo! :)

    4. Lol! But seriously words truly did fail me.

I had composed a HUGE rebuttal to today's essay of yours (along w/ remarks about yesterday). I don't know exact word count but probably close to 1500. I must have devoted 1/3 to your entry:

"Siberian oil was great for killing off Mom & Pop stores, turning everything into Super Centers with corporate loans, piping in broadband Internet..."

I had a field day with all the buzz words you used.

And just as I was finishing ...POOF! All gone.

I decided to yield the field to you rather than rewrite. I'm sure many a reader will be overjoyed.

You leave me inspired to joust another day.

    5. I hate having comments eaten, myself, yet never can get motivated to open WordCrap ( Open Office, really crappy but free. Death To MS! ), type in there, copy and paste and etc. I feel your pain. Especially since I hunt and type one finger, 1k words an hour final draft. But you are correct to be inspired. It wakes the brain and fires competitiveness. Never a waste. I look forward to our next challenge, good sir.

  4. Well, use the topic subject matter as a frame of reference scenario for your preps. Use peak oil, folded into your plans of doing without fuels and making workaround strategies in weather events, labor strikes, embargoes, civil unrest interruptions etc.

I use ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE as my barrio/ghetto code words for scumbaggery combat operations preps for my a.o. it makes slaughtering your dork neighbors objective a more pleasant acceptable conversation tone when termed that way in public.

it is interconnected like good foreplay preps leading to a grand slam home run with the ol lady.

    Stay frosty.

    2. Yes, hide in plain sight in the forest of nonsense as a gray man amongst the trees.

Of other note: claire wolf claims to be tapping out from blogging regular as she was delisted or such from amazon. (Don't know the system, but could be low revenue reasons or politics) I noted Conservative Anon's actual site isn't on google search pages, had to use duckduckgo. 2020 will be all manner of hijinks for power and control. Have back ups to the back ups. Stay frosty.

    3. I shouldn't speak ill, but her last book really did suck ass. Sure, I always thought she was the diversity hire for Paladin type readers, but her early stuff was at least readable. I have to wonder if she was running out of things to say. I still wish her the best, of course.

  6. I remember gasoline being $7 a gallon out in bumfuckistan in 2008 when I'd fled out there after the crash. Cost me over $10 to fill up my 250cc motorcycle gas tank and since in winter months I was making as little as $5 for the month, it was a hard equation. I actually was getting about $100 a month, by "selling" my food stamps to the friend I stayed with for that amount, then our using the food stamps to buy food - by eating frugally, we got by on $200 a month just fine. In true red state fashion, food was taxed and at something like 12%, but because food stamps are a federal program, food bought with food stamps wasn't taxed.

A combination of seeing the desert area I was in as far too easily bottled up (more than a day's drive/tank of gas to escape) with NO work available and being surrounded by Good White American Patriots by which I mean felons, meth-heads, and assorted psychos, I made use of my little bike and a lucky windfall and rode on out of there on that $7 gas.

Happy Motoring is one thing, but Mandatory Motoring will kill ya.

  7. Off Topic:

I am watching the History Channel TV series "Life After People". It is about what happens if human population is zero.

All of the household dogs that can run free outside will form packs that will become rabies infested.

A similar scenario will happen in collapse because when people can't feed their dogs, they will set them free to run wild.

    Another reason to have guns...
