new useless guy 2

NEW USELESS GUYS 2
( post 1 of 2 today )
I normally am not one to tell you to burn bridges when prepping. None of us, not even myself guided by my perfect hair ( I think we should have listened to our intuition about Trumps hair-how can you trust someone with an abortion on their head? ) can time the collapse. I prepped like I believed Y2K, because I did. I prepped for economic collapse starting five years before 2008, not because I knew it was coming for sure, or when, but because to me it was assured sometime. I just prepped, a lot more, after 2008, not believing the not-yet-collapse would last. But I never burned any bridges.
*
You still have to live life, which is why I didn't go Hermitage eight years ago, when I had the land and the energy to transform it. I never disliked people, rather I've grown over time to dislike how most people have transformed into buttholes. I WANT to be a hermit, but I never would be able to do it. Actually, I don't even know if you could burn any bridges, unless you broke the law to escape society. You know, owing the banks money, killing off the ex to avoid child support, that kind of thing. As good as that sounds, don't do it. I suppose you could not pay rent, prepping, then that ruins your credit score, and you cannot get an apartment ever again.
*
But is that really burning your bridges? I was living in an RV, in parks, and all they ever cared about was money up front. There were no credit checks. You don't need credit to buy junk land, it is owner financed. You could even live in your car, should you still have a job but have been blacklisted from renting an apartment. So, no, I don't feel bad giving anyone advice to hold off on rent so they can buy food. I WAS a tiny bit optimistic there for a day or two, about the possibility of stay at home orders being lifted, but that is gone. And to me, that is a warning.
*
It seems most states closely follow their political orientation when it comes to Beer Virus. The complete commie crapholes like California and Oregon are completely power hungry autocratic, screaming at the top of their lungs that anyone so much as stepping past their door threshold to get the mail ( are they still delivering newspapers? Or is everyone using Virus as an excuse to dump print and go online only? ) will be tasered and then shot, for the public good of course. Nevada is not yet-YET-blue but rather still purple so they fall in the middle of severity.
*
But we just had a bunch of protest rallies and the governor ( a real piece of crap ) punished everyone by extending the lock down another month ( second hand info, perhaps subject to change ). That will show the peons who is in charge! We all know these things are complete BS. We might not know the agenda, but we know there is one. Just like it doesn't matter HOW 9/11 was accomplished, the important thing is to realize the lies masked evil, and so too with Beer Virus. It doesn't matter HOW. We just know something far more ominous is in the works.
*
My guess, right or wrong, is that whatever their intention or method, they end up killing a LOT of us. If you assume that is not the case, you have set yourself up for failure. If I'm wrong, I'm alive. If I'm right, I'm alive. You need food security, and you need it NOW. The guns and ammo are only there to protect your food ( and anal virginity-but that is just a bonus ). No one prolongs the lock down as food is destroyed rather than shipped and processed, NO ONE, unless they are trying to hurt you.
*
Even if it is JUST stupidity, which at this point is wearing thin as an excuse, you still die. Gardening? Great. Nice start. Your crops won't fail if you take a few shopping days. Buy food. Do it now, and stop playing with all the other Prepper Toys. Stock that crap deep. This won't be over anytime soon. I STILL think you need to buy and preferably move to junk land. If the food distribution chains are failing, why would you think the economic system will stay in place? That means no job, ever again, to pay rent. That means desperate police fining you for being homeless, to raise cash. Have a legal squat.
*
If it was me, I'd be dumping everything for pennies on the dollar, to bug out to rural land with minimal shelter and maximum food storage. I know, I could very well be wrong. I don't make the recommendation lightly. Obviously, you must make up your own mind. Just ask yourself how they get themselves out of this hole, since they just keep digging deeper. Right now, the problem with the old advice “you still need to live your life” is that it is becoming much more dangerous to NOT panic. I would argue that we have just rewound the last thirty years. We are back to the threat of instant annihilation nuclear war used to threaten us with.
*
We keep hanging on, waiting for normal to return, we might be stuck in the cities, the highways locked down, and the shelves bare. Even if you have no food, you still die. Because you are a threat to their food. Rwanda was NOT about who was innocent or guilty, who was a non-combatant. It was about depopulation to avoid future famine threats. And that is all on a subconscious level. It is instinctual, hardwired into our brains over tens of thousands of years and as many crop failures. You might be mobbed by a group of Blacks who hate you for your White Privilege, and will kill you because they hate you, but unbeknownst to themselves, they are killing you for their own food security.
*
This even might be what the lily white bankers and their government toadies are doing, right now. This very minute. They think they are just being greedy, trying to secure their wealth and power, but really they are depopulating. Man is instinctual on many levels, and won't admit that least all hope is lost our intellect will save us when it is needed. If history teaches us anything, it is that on the primitive lizard level, the monkey mind NEVER works. Stop ignoring that sad panda fact. Do what your lizard brain is screaming at you to do. Stockpile food and then flee.

  1. Even my mom and sister are that way. I even offered to give them my corona check to get them out of where they are in town. Found them cheap land where they said they want to go also.

But because it wasn't 20 acres with an already built 2 story farmhouse with a babbling brook and developed well, they said no. Screw them, I bought ammo and food instead. The land I have isn't perfect, but it is mine, and I can live just fine on a job that requires me to put 10 bucks on pump 3.

  2. I'm so scared now it's dangerous. Hanging over the edge by my teeth. I've thought about off-loading everything but nobody has any money to buy my stuff. Rand was right when she said, "When you leash a dog, you leash yourself", same with all the stuff you own - it'll drag you down. My dream now would be to own 2 horse, a lever gun and revolver, 1000rds of ammo, and the knowledge to live off the land, as portrayed so frequently in the cowboy TV series of the 1950's. Just stay out of sight, mind my own business, and kill anything that moves in my sight. But what kind of a life is that, really? Maybe a life not worth livin'?

    1. That is the issue I have with being a hermit. Easy, safe, and utterly alone and going bat crap crazy

    6. Oh man. Do I ever hear you. I swear, a good fire would almost be welcome. So much stuff weighing me down, yet at the same time it's so very hard to get rid of. For quite a while now I've looked at gifts as liabilities, both the ones I give and the ones I receive.

Although my one gun is probably a CZ, either the combo 12g over 308 or the .223 Bolt Carbine.

The knowledge part you speak of, as I mentioned elsewhere, I'm working hard to acquire what I can whilst I can. It's a bit hard with everyone afraid of this seasons flu which has been given a scary name.

  3. I think one reason why most of us don't like most/all people anymore is because our society has become so 'r'.

As in r/K Selection Theory. A good book about this is: "The Evolutionary Psychology Behind Politics: How Conservatism and Liberalism Evolved with Humans".

The author has a website: anonymousconservative.com/
However, in the past few years he has lost touch with many of the truths in his own book. I wish he would read his own book.

  4. I believe like you that the goal of the super elite is to seriously depopulate the planet soon. Food is #1.

I don't trust the Democrats or the Republicans. Trump is not going to save us. All government officials lie. Right now the USA food growing and distribution system is being destroyed.

And in particular meat production takes time and good husbandry over many years. I have raised chickens, ducks, pigeons, rabbits, pigs and goats. If you destroy your breeding stock, it can take decades to repair the damage. And it may never be repaired.

  6. Indeed my Lizard Brain has been screaming these past couple months. My past hesitations are haunting me. In the Dot Com crash I had about a 40 day window when I could have cashed out and "gone Galt", but convinced myself that "everything will go back to normal" and lost everything. It took 15 years to "recover" but Im still not in as good a shape as I was before that particular SHTF event...
I'm two years into a 5 year plan and things have been going according to plan (well, mostly...) until this current SHTF episode. If it were JUST me, I'd be following your advice to the letter (food, junk land, food, shelter, food, ammo, food... But Im having trouble upending the lives of my wife and daughter, and frankly they're both spoiled and so "girly-girl" that I think the austere life will drive them mad. I don't think they've accepted the inevitable, that life as we know it is history now. I think its time to pull the trigger on the junk land, even though I've got to do so sight unseen. Better any fallback position than none. Thankfully I've been stocking food for a long time, the apartment is STUFFED, several cases and buckets of staples in my storage unit, a week's worth of food for myself in my office and another 20 lbs of rice in my car's trunk cuz I ran out of room elsewhere...
It's been a hard knock life but I think that will be a benefit come this uncertain future. We know how to live on next to nothing, its everyone around us that makes me nervous!

    1. Applaud! The only one I've heard of that actually uses the trunk. Folks will leave BOB's in the vehicle, but won't store grains there. Yeah, extra heat. Does anyone think the food will remain in there too much longer?

Be flexible and have the eyes open for opportunities and deals that also arise during times of duress. 4. Weird that y'all are full up out in BFE, in the CA (South) Bay Area we're still very much hit or miss. Lotsa rice, slim stock of dried beans and lentils, almost nothing in canned meats (<25% of the usual stock I'd guess, tho not a scientific study, just eyeballin' the shelves). No paper goods except tissues and paper plates, but even those are way down in supply. Eggs and dairy were non existent a few weeks ago Slim stock here too, but at least they have some now. And all the "bulk bins" with coffee, oats, granola, etc. have been emptied or roped off due to "contact precautions"... Granted, we have a much higher population than Elko and a lot of those people have a LOT of disposable income, so they could just be buying everything up. I've only been in the 3 grocery stores right here in my 'hood, and I hit them all on one day (a Sunday no less) nearly two weeks ago so this isn't exactly hot off the presses. But my observations made me think shizz is going to get worse before it gets any better. YMMV...

  10. @jl. I seem to recall that we reside in the same state (Commiefornia). If you’re considering cheap land in said state, you might try reaching out to the guy in the link below (Terry Quirk. And no affiliation, other than some land he showed me back in 2014). At the time, he had tons of parcels for sale in California Pines, that were very cheap. Now as a heads up, CA Pines is far from ideal. Rules up the ass, and the county illegally assessed the land at a higher value to the surrounding area, so I would have been paying $350 a year in property taxes, on a $1500 dollar piece of land, back in 2014. There was also a property owners association, and that was around $75 a year. Now having said that, most of the land was vacant, and I saw signs of people setting up camps, irregardless of the many rules. There were 5 units, and unit 5 was the most remote. But I would inquire about land in the area, but outside CA Pines, if at all possible. I’ve also seen reasonably priced land in Shasta county, but it was a long time ago. To me, this land is too high priced for what it is, but you’re probably working with a bigger budget than I. I’ve also seen cheap desert land, in of all places, southern CA. But again, this was a while back.

The parcel below, is 1.5 acres for $2500. It doesn’t appear to be in CA Pines, either, which would be a good thing. Some of you might remember that cheesy bastard, Eric Estrada, peddling that CA Pines land, some years back. You gotta hand it to him. He hasn’t achieve much fame past CHIPs, but he’s managed to remain relevant, and has never faded into complete obscurity :D

    2. Thanks for the tip Anon. I actually never considered buying in CA, but a legal squat within one tank of gas might be worth investigating.

      Delete
    3. Yeah, I forgot all about that option. I have looked into it in the past. I seem to recall that the claim filing process was somewhat involved. But if you could pull it off, it’s only a matter of a low cost filing fee. In order to keep it, there’s a stipulation that you must pull so much monetary value from the land (I believe it was somewhere along the lines of $350 annually?). But if you don’t, there’s some kind of loophole, to where you can claim your work performed. I think you’re allowed to claim up to 20 acres. You can have a shed for storage of tools, but technically, outside of staying there overnight as you work it, you’re not allowed to live on it as a residence. But that’s not something that I would even worry about, since most of these claims are fairly remote.

  11. I burned every bridge that I could when I moved out of one state to another. There could be no chance of every having a weak moment and consider going back. I ruined all relationships that I could because I really hated everyone.
I speak with my mother and father now, I didn't for 6 years. Once a year I talk to a sister. Nobody else from my old life knows if I'm alive or dead. I guess I am starting to mellow out a little as old age creeps up on me.
A lot of people want to talk about being a hermit. They say they hate everyone but still have wives or girlfriends. In my opinion that's not being a hermit. If you are going to the coffee shop or talking to the mailman you ain't a hermit. If you are corresponding online with other people, you are having a human connection and are only playing at being a hermit. I feel like that You might be a redneck (hermit) guy.
My life has changed now and I'm am still reclusive but I don't go out of my way to be anti social. I think learning from spending many seasons alone has altered my behavior.
Try moving to a place you have never been and turn off the phone, no calls or text. No internet or radio. Forget the I pod. No pets or newspapers. Don't even have a mailbox or a trash truck. Now don't leave for 3 months. You will learn a lot about yourself, like how you would pay a lot of money for Ruth Bader Ginsburg lecture just to hear her voice.

It's 12:30pm right now and I haven't seen my wife of 36 years since 8pm last night. May not see her again til about 6pm tonight when I go in the house to make supper. It's the way our lives are structured.

I routinely go multiple weeks without seeing another human being, wouldn't know the mail person if I saw him, and keep busy all the time with things that interest me.

My Tracfone costs me about $100 a year and I never use it, I put less than 1000 miles per year on my vehicle and almost never watch TV. Newspaper? What's that? Haven't even seen one in more than 10 years.

My office/garage is far detached from our house and it's where I'm at most of the time. My wife is in the house. We get along best when we ain't around each other much. I could go in the house and yap to her right now if I wanted to, but why? I got better stuff to do.

My lifestyle would bore you to death in 24 hours. I may not be your imaginary idea of a hermit but I am my version and don't particularly give a shit what other people think about anything.

I have lived in the tropics. An inherent problem with them is at least most of the nice places are crowded and the uncrowded places are infested with malarial mosquitos. The uncrowded nice places are small islands or mountain tops, usually lacking fresh water. In the tropics you also must disinfect any natural fresh water source if you want to have a chance to remain healthy.

  14. I have that Shelters, Shacks, and Shanties, book. It was written back in 1914, by one of the founders of the boy scouts (Whom one imagines, did not anticipate that said organization would go on to become an extension of NAMBLA :D). It was written in a way that most boys of the time could follow it easy enough. There are a few designs that are decent.

One is a variation on a sod house. Instead of using only sod, it has a timber frame, and sod is placed within the framing (Recall that the early plains homesteaders with sod homes, survived the winters. And many that did not, didn’t). Another is an easy looking to build, dugout. Just be careful, because there are a few reviews stating that there are some knock off copies out there, that leave the sketches out of the book.

    3. Same here. Seems the web is about 95% bullshit now. Look up a recipe. Everyone has the same recipe, just change a couple words around. Even google search functions have been watered down and meaningless for finding what you're looking for. Now, I go to probably less than 10 sites, this is one, on a regular basis. The ads, the pop-ups, the videos, all of it, is more than I can bear. Fortunately it is finally warming up around here so I am spending more and more time outside doing other stuff. If this country lasts another 5 years the web will be completely irrelevant, much like TV is today.
