bugged out yet?

BUGGED OUT YET?
I know, I know, I keep telling you that you need to buy that junk land and move. But here is its companion. Have you already left for that land you already have? Why haven't you bugged out yet? Certainly, there seems to be no rush to vacate your rent free apartment at this point, one last bout of fifteen hour days binge watching Netflix to tide you over for when the Internet goes dark forever more. And since the response ( not the actual disease ) to Beer Virus has been a giant False Flag, you figure business as usual will return after the bankers are well compensated and you have had a vacation.
*
But, really, is it that simple? For a good three months, we have been force fed so much horse crap, we no longer have a palate to discern the finer points of taste. The powers that be opened the flood gates of lies, propaganda and physiological warfare to such an extent it is akin to a biblical flood. We don't know what we know and we certainly don't know what we don't know. As such, we switched to our default mode of Worst Case. Preppers are in full MOPP gear going into town, and wearing their six shooters with them to go take a dump.
*
I'm NOT saying that was the wrong call. Only now are we getting information that the twin powers of NOT testing and calling anyone who coughed once before dying of old age or cancer so considered Beer Virus fatalities have vastly inflated the lethality. No, that does NOT mean you ignore the danger, because even THAT conclusion might be incorrect given a little more time. Those that panicked early might seem foolish now, or they may not in a few weeks. Even if you know they are lying, you still play the game. Just in case.
*
There is simply too many balls to juggle here. Was the Beer Virus a convenient excuse to cover up the economic collapse? Will bailing out the world five trillion bucks at a time be a complete failure, or will it actually succeed in kicking the can down the road once again? Are we going back to work or is 50% unemployment an elite favored outcome? Was this to detract from the coming asteroid? Was it to drastically curtail oil use so that the upcoming Oil Crash was managed better?
*
All we know for sure is that past pandemics killed more people, with less population, and the economy was not shut down. We also know that the states and cities are getting “loans” from the Federal Reserve Bank. When you pay zero interest, and can roll the loans over, yeah. Call it a loan and call me Long Dong Jim. All the rest is half assed guessing and estimations. For those folks who over-panicked, what have they lost? A little self respect, perhaps. They have my admiration for conviction and action. But what about you'all that have NOT panicked?
*
Do you have a plan for when the economy DOESN'T recover? Because it seems to me that a best case scenario is leaving most of us unemployed, IF we return to BAU. Only the big corporations are getting instant bail-outs. The medium and smaller ones-where most of us find employment-must go through intermediaries, those private banks that have no open lobbies and reduced personnel. Is it just me, or does it seem like these businesses have been earmarked to fail, to reduce competition to the Anointed Ones?
*
No matter the scenario, be it Lucifer's Hammer or Peak Oil, it seems that the bankers and his buddies enrich themselves first, then think about doing something about the actual problem. They would be buying villas full of hookers and blow long before they funded a space flight to go Bruce Willis that asteroid. And if it is simply an economic collapse, they would just go about business as usual, assuming they could do this indefinitely. No matter what, the bankers are going to hammer this country into the ground, hard, and fast. THAT is assured, with jelly donuts.
*
So, why am I saying bug out now? Because the states are already controlling travel and ingress. Even though I believe there was a SCOTUS ruling about that ( the Oakies invading California, an act still unforgiven by then not yet born Aesop. One wonders if a descendant of the settlers from Arkansas deflowered him ), they can do anything their little pea picking hearts desire. Perhaps you can get in your bug out state. Perhaps with papers of ownership. Perhaps not. Not right now. But ask yourself this. If they restricted access now, why wouldn't they later?
*
Later, oops, Beer Virus secondary outbreak! Or, oops, the state is broke and we don't want anyone else on our welfare. Or, we start rationing gasoline because all our Energy Independence fracking oil shut down. Oil is rationed, no interstate travel. No need to man the barricades, just tear up sections for “normal scheduled maintenance” and then never go back to work on them. I'm NOT saying you can't get there somehow. I'm saying, they could TRY to keep you out. What if the DMV shut down, and no new licenses or ID is issued. You're from out of state, no state ID, so they can kick you out.
*
They don't care if you own property there. You want to fight them on it? Eminent domain. And even then, all that isn't factoring in the locals opposition to anyone moving in AFTER the current crisis started. It might even be too late in that aspect, but for sure, the longer you wait the less likely you will be welcomed. You might be better off where you are, in this respect. But if moving into that unknown is still better than where you are, better to bite the bullet now instead of waiting for things to get worse. And I think we can all agree that everything WILL get worse. Timing and details are the only unknown.

note: Fandango, whoever they are, is buying Wal-Mart's Vudu streaming.  Either Wally is smarter than I thought, or really hurting for cash.  I smell an upcoming lesson to digital movie purchases stored in the Cloud customers.

  1. We're already bugged in and oldest daughter is a couple states away but she was born here so I'm hoping a birth certificate would allow entry. All her family is here too. I can see where Texas would allow their people back in but getting out from behind enemy lines could be problematic. Troopers have already limited travel from Louisiana, requiring quarantine for those allowed in. Like they can really enforce that! The stupid, it hurts. -RB

    1. But, stupid can still be dangerous to you. I just keep thinking about the formation of Pakistan and the suddenness and the high body count. When another empire crapped the bed.

After issues with lost posts, Kenny moved Knuckledraggin.
    The new address:

Knuckledraggin is my second stop each morn, right after I get some Bison.
Then, on to ,Rawles and DiogenesMiddleFinger... and that Wilder character and the edge-of-my-seat saga of Pugsley and The Boy and The Mrs..
    And EarlOfTaint.
    WesternRifleShooters.
    SeaGypsyPhilosopher
    Ol' Remus at WoodPileReport.

Then I return to Bison for the wisdom of the commentors.
Usually, by that point, it's time for lunch and a nap.

    How's your day going?

    1. I usually feel like a nap after my catching up with the blog and news, also. Old people can't get to excited, for fear of heart issues? Or is it just nice to have the option to nap, finally?

  3. The worse the economy, the less outsiders will be accepted. So it is best to go to your bugout location now.

And even better is having been a long-time resident so the locals already know you.

  4. I am definitely burned out by all of the varying news and opinions about Covid-19 and the quarantine.

    For instance:
Covid-19 is a pandemic that will kill most people around the planet.
Covid-19 is just like the regular flu.
Covid-19 doesn't exist at all. It is all propaganda.
Covid-19 was created by the USA and released in China.
Covid-19 was accidentally released by China.
Covid-19 was intentionally released by China.
Covid-19 is a bioweapon war between the USA and China.
Covid-19 was intentionally released by both the USA and China who are controlled by the New World Order or similar group.

And on and on. Every point of view is out there. Plus even more detailed variations on the above basic ideas.

    1. It was Beer Virus, or Peak Oil. Take your pick. Or, both LOL I hear your frustration. But just as hard ignoring it as a car wreck you slow to observe.

  5. Travel will get more problematic. My ex moved my daughter to Colorado a few years ago from Mississippi. I got to see her at Christmas and have no idea when I will see her again. My ex is prepper minded and my daughter is too at 15 but still sucks.

I'm still reading your older stuff. Im at May 2019. Prophetic. Wheat is hard to find. Ammo is stupid expensive but gas is cheap for now.

I sold my rice burner car but kept the pickup. I don't need to go anywhere more than once or twice a month. It works. Pick up is more useful.

  6. Right. There is too much assumption that a Minion's b.o.l. is going to become an inholding in some freefor zone and thus not be accessable. Yes maybe, but the FUSA is not homogenous enough to throw up regional boundaries and become tribally hermetically sealed. Maybe a few townies can close their hamlet with some pick up teams of church chums for a short period of time but they will fold up the lawn chairs and go home too once the women start nagging them to come home for supper. The marshmallow fleshed three percenters have only casually read 'one second after' so as to spout example parallels of what they would do if put in charge of things. Without hard plans and lots of ground work done, such as pre dug trenches, set aside mass grave holes, and cadres of citizen civil defence teams ready to scurry with patriotic vigor like the viet cong, it is just talk and mental masturbation theory. Considering all of the narcotics, human trafficking, and scumbaggery that can pass through porous militarized borders with all of those highly paid praetorians manning the parapets now as is, happy valley citizens ain't gonna keep charlie out of the wire, any more than a badge earner Minionite on a mission. Have alternate routes as usual, carry a pair of wire cutters everywhere anyway, and stay frosty.

  8. I've always been wary of bugging out - if it's so great to be there, why aren't you there? I'm a bugging-in fan. My neighbors may not like me, but at least if they can stand the poorly-mowed lawn for three years and the unusual smells at three a.m.?

    1. It isn't a failure to mow your lawn, it is being ecologically sound by developing an ecosystem.
