PRECIOUS CALORIES 2
*
note: free books.  Plague https://amzn.to/2AGgbOt .  PA, I think, almost picked up a Clan Of The Cave Bear vibe from it https://amzn.to/2viPs5v .  Noooo Mr. Bill!  Evil Muzzies attack! https://amzn.to/2M0uKBa .  Anthology https://amzn.to/2LSl4JI
*
Yes, I’m aware that even though you can get what you need, you rarely get what you want.  Are you aware?  We just talked about the odious choices necessitated by budget constraints over picking between silver or ammo.  Because both are so dag-gum sum-bitchin cheap right now.  It’s enough to force a feller to crap or go blind.  I mean, seriously, nothing will ever get as cheap again as it was during the Nineties, the last grasp of most conventional sweet light petroleum, added to the beginning of diffuse ore extraction as the industry standard ( a one off bonus as long as energy was near free ), mixed in with our Peak Colonialism, but right now we are getting as close to that as we ever will.
*
Everything an aspiring survivalist could need is right now relatively dirt cheap.  Wheat, even as we enter into either a imploding economy or Gore Warming/Ice Age.  Ammunition, as China is at overcapacity and needs far less commodities than it did ( plus, lack of customers necessitating lowered gun and ammo prices as companies hurdle towards bankruptcy ).  Junk land, available at three to four times the price as 2005, but just as if not more copious than that period.  Considering “real” real estate prices, junk land is still a screaming bargain.  All your doo-dads needed to round out your preps, available from Amazon BELOW Bezos’ cost as he jacks up his stocks worth.
*
And food.  Food has not seen these low prices since before the This Suckers Going Down economic implosion a decade ago.  Or close enough ( once wages are factored in-thank goodness minimum wage increased near fifty percent whilst I was both paying off Evil Baby Mamma AND prepping madly and desperately ).  And what do all these prices have in common?  They simply cannot last.  Just from the standpoint of oil prices, retail goods cannot retain these low prices.
*
But as we all know, it isn’t just increasing costs of oil that are going to hold us down and financially sodomize us.  So much more is going on.  I won’t recite the whole list, but an important one is over-indebtedness by your local official mafia.  Do you remember us talking about this?  Local governments were dead ass broke, turning macadam roads into gravel, having issues buying enough fuel for hero LEO‘s, etc.   Did the federal government bail them out like they did the Rothschild Banking Cartel?  Of course not.  Even all the suffering Gott Damn Yankee areas who were the bunghole buddies of the Unionists during the War Of Northern Aggression got the cold shoulder.
*
Live by the banking industrialists, die by them.  Every local government was told, hey, we love you long time G.I., but no bailouts for you.  However!  Such a BETTER deal!  Low, low interest rates on fresh brand new handy dandy loans to pay all your old loan payments and pad the retirement fund so the elected officials can suckle at that trough in payment for playing this game.  Worked like a charm, cheap money to keep stuffing peasant steerage passengers into the ships gapping maw caused by the iceberg collision.  It minimized the leakage, all those fresh corpses.  Now?  Not so much, for many reasons among them they are running out of sacrificial bodies.
*
Local gov borrowed heavily where now even after jacking property taxes through the roof they still can’t make their bills and are ever busier humping everybody.  A LOT of states have already backed out of the “affordable” part of ObammyCare ( health welfare-you poor and young no longer get free medical, but you can bet your last bullet that the Boomer pukes keep getting free medical until it hurts everyone else.  But it isn’t welfare if it is for you, right? Not arguing with you taking what was promised, and for trusting the government although that was pretty silly, but for not recognizing the hypocrisy ).
*
And now food welfare seems to be on the chopping block.  Many impoverished states are drastically cutting back on Food Stamp assistance.  Don’t have a job?  That is your fault since the official government statistics say unemployment is negative 5.33356%.  That’s right.  Negative.  Is seems everyone has a job and a lot have two.  Not because they need the money ( official inflation is also rather low-also negative.  As in below product utility improvements!  Weeeee! ) but because we are all just bored with FaceBook and need to stay busy at work.  Why, look at all the coastal elites cadre with super wonderful jobs-Trump says we are all so gainfully employed and satisfied, our only problem not knowing which shuttered mall to shop at.
*
I truly do understand why everyone ( except the less than one percent of logical thinkers ) prefers to remain ignorant in their bliss.  99% of people have no idea there actually is a problem ( the medias job is not to convince the thinkers, it is to opiate the masses who prefer to enjoy life without adding any stress ), like the Glen Beck Brigade Of Fracking Fags thinking we have 300 years of energy independence left ( Beck, you ignorant slut!  No biscuit for you ).  600 loyal minions of the Bison Legion Of Doom don’t all agree things are as bleak as unvarnished truth suggests, and you think the other 333 million people stand a chance of knowing how dire things are?
*
They don’t know and they don’t want to know.  And that is so friggin lucky for you, you have no damn idea ( I’ll cover that after this series ).  All you need to know now is that behind the happy façade of low prices, not caused by economic recovery but by decreasing purchasing power and overcapacity caused by such, your back-up plans for eating are in jeopardy.  Government food welfare is on the endangered list.  This is nothing less than Great Depression Redux.  The government won’t even feed you and would rather see you die of other diseases which hide malnutrition.  Not the kind we have today, dying of diabetes and cancer ( further exasperated by toxic medical “treatment” ) from too many empty calories, but from too few ( and they also being empty calories ).
*
There will be a long period during the decline, BEFORE the collapse, where food is scarce from lack of funds.  Weather disasters, oil imports drying up.  Economic collapse as much more government funding dries up.  Guerrilla warfare interrupting food or fuel transportation.  There is enough food, ammo and gas for the local LEO’s to fight dissent, but not enough for the common peasant.  You need a hefty pre-collapse stockpile of food.  Nothing new here, move along, we’ve discussed this before.  But it certainly bears repeating.  Especially now while the price of admission is low.

  1. Another sign of an accelerated decline was a report I heard that fuel retailers are having a tough time keeping a cash cushion so they can afford the next fuel drop. It seems there has been too many fluctuations in price and not enough demand to cover the costs. Food stamps are just the tip of the iceberg. Medicare and Medicaid are the next up for rationing. Work requirements are being floated right now in SC.

    1. I can see the medical welfare issue. Costs are simply accelerating too quick for local govs to afford.

  2. If they cut the welfare food that will be like kicking the left crutch out from under the crippled lady, while she's on the stairs. Things will accelerate fast after that. Then, some of the more violent things you spoke of will come into play and everyone that wants to survive will have to become more animal like. I'm glad I don't live in a ville. Wish my kid didn't.

    1. Between states limiting your time on the Food Stamps, and increasing inflation, I don't see this ending well myself. Unless the Feds de-link the program from the state control of issuance, which is possible. Better have your National ID approved drivers license to get into that federal building. One almost wonders if this wasn't planned to shove the ID down our throats.

  3. Yes, have your I.D. out for inspection. Feds were trying the food boxes in lieu of ebt payments. Just sent them to recipients, Gov't picks appropriate food staples/no pot pies and sodas for kids. Eliminates people going to stores as-often/keeps them in domicile. If the food slack is tightened there will be trucks taken down like hyenas on a sick cow. Just like already occuring in mexico and venezuela. There is a chain of hanger-ons attached to every gov't recipient as well. Kids as well as relative's kids while they're in jail. Ex felons and baby's daddy staying with mom or the girlfriend. Eliminate the food and funds they go guerilla quick like. A minion opportunity would be employed in grocery/c-store etc. So as to be an insider. If things get dicey having keys to the backroom would be an asset to plunder, just turn lights out when you leave please.

    1. Working in C-stores is statistically more dangerous than being a cop. Only a taxi driver is more in danger. Soon to get a lot more dangerous.

    2. I did a short stint stocking a grocery store. The only thing kept in the back was damaged goods and some sales items. Not quite the haul one would think

    3. Even the food bank was really a Just In Time Inventory. When cans doubled in price due to the ore/energy equation, very few cans get donated anymore. It is mostly perishables. And doing pick-ups for all the stores serving 50k+ people, combined, the ONLY thing in the back is soda. The two feed stores in town serving this huge ass county have about 20 sacks of wheat on hand at any time. Can you can "rut ro, Scubby"?

    4. Sorry, should have been "Can you SAY" at the end.

    5. For safety and cost reasons, they can air drop the welfare food boxes from a couple hundred feet up, from drones. From the central warehouse, heavily guarded, have preprogrammed addresses bluetoothed to the drones that will be loaded inside and sent out to their destinations. 20lb boxes of processed trash, mac n cheese, knorr noodle-ramen type stuff, dropped with a one time use plastic parachute. The drone will signal, "BEEP BEEP BEEP" as it hovers briefly over the drop zone to alert the recipients. Then gunplay will ensue as the local ne'er do wells descend upon it, causing even more elimination.

    6. Just in time inventory really gets up my goat. Literally everybody is doing it. The margin for error is just so slim now it's insane

    7. I even wonder if it saves money anymore, now that so many components go so many places. Of course, now that is all there is.

  4. At least Minions were wise to have ample pickling salt and various flavors of seasonings. The die off will have ample leaned up long pork opportunities. Frown on it now, but members of the Donner party that HAD survived may beg to differ. You may either be hosting dinner (even if only dandelion soup with said chunks) or be made into an entre' course. Choose now or have decisions made for you later.

  5. Having a Saturday dinner reading Bison. Enjoying some seige rations of ramen noodle soup and can of smoked vienna sausages. No t.v. no radio noises. Just thinking gonna miss this easy living.

  6. The 100 (PA-Nuke-AI-space-youth drama) had a segment recently explaining how you can't let people get to starving, or even cannibalism won't save part of the group. You have to rapidly determine that TS Has HTF and put the food portion of your population in the freezer while they are being fed every day (healthy meat source). No one wants to eat a sick or starved meat animal. This takes serious leadership.
