culture collapse 2 of 3

CULTURE COLLAPSE 2

All my young adult life I was always hearing and reading about how our collapse was being caused by an eroding culture.  Thanks, Hippies! Because you scared all the straights and squares, I was subjected for decades to the gasping conjectures of pundits and politicians, publishers and professors.  They are fornicating without the churches blessing, and we shall be smited.  They divorce without the churches blessing, and hence our Gomorra shall be smited.  They bed men with men and hence the End Days are upon us.  Of course, this speaks more of Americans Puritanism and God knows why sexual hang-ups compared to almost everywhere else than it does accurate biblical Armageddon, but it also bespeaks of a culture disintegrating.

*

I was busy soiling my diapers at the time so I can’t speak from first hand experience, but since we know the dying grasp of church power was centuries ago this couldn’t have been a reaction to the population moving away from the bosom of religion.  It wasn’t JUST about the sudden shocking introduction of contraception ( how many weddings were performed far from a whole nine months of the birth of the  first child, as a matter of course, historically?  Except for the upper crust that had treasure to protect, the norm was quite busy rutting and fornication between healthy young adults, damn the consequences.  Contraception just brought that out in the open due to lowering the consequences ).  Bitches Power was already starting to be encouraged, as was non-White immigration.

*

You always need to back up and take a look at The Money.  Follow Da Money.  Peak Iron Ore was in the Fifties, which was most likely the start of our economic decline that only finished up with the ’70’s Peak Oil, decoupling from gold and Arab oil embargoes.  The Hippies might have descended from the Beats but nobody would have gained traction in a society safely embracing an economic boom.  The short and simple of it was that a prosperous economy doesn’t reward deviant behavior that would endanger that prosperity.

*

You notice how today the elite are funding the leftist Politically Correct crowd?  Why do you think that is?  Far too simplistic to suggest that it is a nefarious One World Order plot of communists.  Good gravy, how long is that boogieman going to be used to control us?  And it isn’t the Evil Jews One World Bank.  The banks are barely staying in business, hardly the actions of a powerful cabal.  Just as in the 60’s, the targeted agitators are funded until the desired action is achieved through protest and violence by the crowds and/or politicians.

*

You get Black equality pushed through to divide and conquer.  You get women in the work force to dilute wages and kill Unions.  You get fuzzy foreigners to divide and dilute.  There isn’t a lot of difference today, except the Rinse And Repeat strategy is doomed and delusional, an elite action reeking of desperation.  What difference between now Black Lives Matter and assorted ilk, and then Black Panthers.  Yesterday’s Women Power and today’s mythical glass ceiling?  It is the same old tired crap, funding cultural discord to fight economic decay.

*

Yesterday, we could afford to fight a conventional war to combat the economic decline.  Which just emptied the treasury and boosted the protest and cultural decline.  It was the first time in a century since the War Of Northern Colonialism that fighting a war hadn’t helped the economy, but in fact hurt it.  Today, we throw debt rather than taxes at fighting a war and nobody bothers to protest or care, and the treasury was already empty so it matters little.  Plus it barely effects our resource base other than oil ( which is in fact making consumer demand decline less damaging.  Damn, I wonder how much that factors in to keeping the war going? ), since we are fighting a forth generational war ( granted, with tanks and helicopters, aircraft carriers and overseas logistics, just as last time, but the scale is oh so much smaller.  And we draw down inventory rather than push the production lines faster ).

*

But sowing discard isn’t the only reason Political Correctness has been loosed upon the land.  At one time, yes, I would argue that was probably the primary reason.  Keep the masses busy with anything other than recognizing the true culprits of their declining living standards ( not the root cause of the collapse, resources and population, but the group that grabbed more of the shrinking pie so as to cause the 90% to lose more and more of the wealth ).  But today, being PC is also a great fit for the collapse.  The same reason the Uber Idiots are in charge in business.  The reason hospitals kill you for profit.  Managing resource depletion.

*

Think about it.  If a doctor saved as many people as possible, he would be using more resources, resources that simply aren’t available.  There is no evil intent or centralized plan.  It is just a response to contraction.  If there aren’t enough doctors available for surgery, you use pills to manage a health issue.  Forget that pills mask symptoms and kill you themselves, the response to less surgeons, or surgical procedures skyrocketing in price due to malpractice insurance ( which were in turn caused by insurance industry profit contraction and education standards being lowered by lowered profits and etcetera ), is pills being the better than nothing solution.

*

When everything is dependent on an infrastructure that is failing, failed policies being adapted are merely responses to failures outside your control.  Lawsuits are in response to a glut in lawyers, lowering law school standards for higher admittance due to school profits diminishing, which causes insurance profits to flounder which causes prices to skyrocket as doctors are taught to make no mistakes by being extra cautious which leads to higher insurance costs as more procedures become Cover Your Ass, which raises insurance costs which encourage less doctors to go to school which lowers the school profits which lowers medical training standards which makes for more mistakes which encourages more people to become lawyers.

*

So you try to fix one problem, say, capping punitive rewards, which leads to less lawyer profit, which forces lawyers to file more lawsuits to make up the lost profits in volume, which makes the demand for lawyers increase as it appears that with all that suing going on here is a great career, but the increased demand for lawyers places infrastructure costs onto colleges which are too high due to all the other entities supplying that infrastructure raising their prices in response to such things as rising liability costs due to an increase in lawyers, and the school is sued for not being racially equal due to the number of minorities not allowed in due to a lag in infrastructure increases…

*

And you can see how this just goes on and on and snowballs.  Continued and concluded tomorrow.

  1. Bout what I had figured as to why the VA so far has not been interested in repairing the squished disks and vertebra in my back. Much cheaper to just keep me going on opioids...
I said nay finally on the opiods however.
They didn't do squatski for the pain anyway !
Neurosurgeons capable to repair my type injuries are not cheap. Hell, just the other repairs they did. Ran the tab up to over $300k.

Just as with the economy and my FUBAR body. That can will get kicked down the road, until myself and the Country are ready for the trash heap...

    1. Does the VA sub-contract out specialized doctors? I never gave it much thought, assuming the docs were civil servants. That would explain why the system is broke, if the docs cost as much as anywhere else. At this point, socialized medicine with taxpayers picking up the college for docs and running the hospitals would be way cheaper. I know, you keep the system you have during a collapse. The NOL only got a year out of the state medical insurance before they dropped it. Two years ago, non-subsidized insurance was $350 month. Last year, subsidized, $150. Next year, after being dropped, $1400 a month! For ONE person! Obviously she will shop around, but DAMN! She has three more years to Medicare. Hope she can survive financially until then. And nothing much wrong with her. Blood pressure meds is about it. If this was written as fiction ten years ago, nobody would have believed it.

    2. Almost every bit of my care was outsourced to the civilian world. Including the neurosurgeon which diagnosed my back problems. Though the VA required all x-rays and blood work be done in house. Also all meds had to come from the VA.
Many hospitals and doctors won't work with the VA , because they refuse to pay the bill when it comes due. So then they just send the balance to collection agencies. Even tho , by law the veteran is supposed to never be billed.
There is a severe disconnect between what is legal for the medical industry to do and reality.
Admin at the VA is at best a cluster fuck and not helpful....

    3. I would imagine it really sucks to be caught in that system of Right & Reality. Like an innocent guy in prison, perhaps. I can see how they don't pay the doctors, if they are hemmoaraging money using contractors. How can they?

  2. "Forget that pills mask symptoms and kill you themselves..."
    ===========================

A week or so ago Denninger had a decent explanation for how that works. ie, Mask the symptoms rather than correct the underlying problem.

    1. Yeh, I guess you need to go to school for six years to learn how to do that :)

  3. I believe the VA does both. I had 2 surgeries last year where the first surgeon worked only for the VA and the 2nd one had his own practice but subbed to the VA 1 day a week. In my professional opinion (someone with medical experience) the subbed guy was better than the employee. The VA guy was much younger, in his early 30's, and his paycheck was totally dependent upon the VA. The sub guy was in his early 60's and the VA pay was just a supplement to his majority pay. I had problems with the VA guy surgery and no problems with the sub guy surgery. Funny, idn't it, how that dynamic works that way no matter the circumstances? Subcontractors must prove themselves with each and every job but salaried employees get paid whether they succeed or fail, every time.

FWIW, I doubt cost is an issue as to whether any given procedure is done or not, remember, they are working with unlimited free stolen money, why should they care how it's spent?

My hepatitis pills cost over $900 each and there were 84 pills total. 1 per day, everyday, for 7 weeks straight. Yeah, about $80k all said and done, and that didn't include the pay to all the numerous people involved. My guess is the cost was over $200k. And that doesn't include the costs I bore to deal with all of it. In spite of all of that I STILL have the hepatitis virus but at a level that is not measurable by today's technology, but as technology is always advancing it may be detectable next week. Oh yeah, it has been recently disclosed that the Epclusa pills I took for the virus cause liver cancer spikes in the people that take them.

If anyone can show me even 1 single thing this rotten assed gov't has EVER done that was good I will pay you $1,000.00 from my favorite legal tenders. Just 1. I dare ya.

    1. The govt. does a LOT of good. If you are the right people. The right people get $80k for a handful of pills that cost $80 to manufacture. To those people, DC is heaven.

    2. So if I steal your notebook computer and give it to a needy child I did good?

Wrong. You know better than that.

Future good never makes past bad right. Ever.

    3. went to a mexican farmacia a couple of decades ago to fill a scrip.
just for info asked the pharmacist how much was the cost of a certain pill.
5 cents apiece in mexico, where it was sold at a profit. $1.25 in usa, sold at huge profit.

    4. GS-I thought I was being sarcastic enough, sorry. I was agreeing with you the govt does absolutely no good. Unless you are one of the elite.
Deb-the markups for the US drugs are probably along the same percentage. A hundred times a penny and a hundred times five bucks. So I think the main complaint is, damn dude, lower the friggin mark-up!

  4. Don’t know if you saw these or not, but they look like a good item to have. It’s hard to find quality items anymore, and being made in the 1950’s when there was still some pride left in craftsmanship, I’m sure they’re good.

I was tempted to get them myself. But being the unemployed minion with a finite budget, I have to weigh such purchases carefully, and my brother pointed out that all that I probably need are a good pair of scissors for this purpose.

    1. Yes, tempting, and no, a good pair of scissors is probably not as cheap ( barber quality pair would probably be twice as much ), but no, probably not worth the limited funds.

  5. boy, this is a depressing post.
no wonder the couch potato majority would rather tune out.
    it is overwhelming.

    1. I wish I could go back to a simpler time directing shopping lists and moaning about govt oversight. When the Internet goes next it will be a race to see if I stop publishing first or die from lack of medical care.

    2. I feel same way Deborah, but can combat the feeling by concentrating on individual things/projects I can do in my life. Example: All economic, medical and world events are working against my individual interests, but at least I cleaned out and organized those three drawers, bought more stockpile bars of soap, and started some rows of carrots.
And you are right about the couch potatoes - I consider the bulk of population know-nothing good time Charlies. Who do you thinks populated the golf courses, cruise ships and Disney parks?
