$400 SNIPER
I don’t really believe
that a huge chunk of the population has awoken to the dangers of Peak Oil (
Sweet Baby Jesus On A Tire Swing, it’s been over TEN friggin years
already. The year it hit, I was buying
Southern lots for a few hundred bucks.
Those bargains are long gone, but you can still easily get junk land for
$2k. That’s only four months renting a
motel room at a converted fleabag. If
cheap land is still out there, not enough people are panicking. But by all means, please, take your sweet ass
time getting yours under the assumption it will always be there for you ). Not enough people have EVER panicked early
and tried to avoid the rush. But I’ll
tell you what I think spurred the huge gun sale increases we just all were
astounded by. It wasn’t an increased
awareness of impending doom. That is
just a sound bite the commies like to brandy about as they cheer for their
team, the Federales ( and the commies, the Coasters, the 10%, the straw bosses
of the poor serfs [ debt serfs are a class above if they are part of the Elites
Bitches, poor debt serfs are just dumb asses ], they are all anti-gun, and
hence anti-prepper ).
*
And it wasn’t a mass
militia movement. The grossly out of
shape militia media warrior won’t ever follow up on their rhetoric, and the
ex-military patriots won’t find enough professionals to be a clear and present
danger. They might have all bought more
guns, but I think their numbers are inflated.
It is easy to pound your chest and proclaim that They will have to pry
your cold dead hands off of your pimping plastic carbine, but that doesn’t make
you a militia member, just a sad blowhard.
No, I believe there was one overriding ( not the only, just the major )
reason that so many guns were sold during the First Kenyan’s reign and it was
racism. Honkies are not as illiterate
and retarded as is portrayed. They could
easily see almost immediately the Get Out Of Jail card that Obammy issued to
the ghetto dwellers. Every passing month
that became more clear, and semi’s, mags and ammo sales sprinted ahead. If the Blacks were allowed to beat you to
death and no Black police chief with the blessing of a Black president was
going to even pretend to look for the culprits ( perhaps they are look alike to
themselves, also? Okay, a joke in poor
taste, but, what? You could have
resisted? ), an urban equalizer was a damn skippy good investment.
*
Of course, you can’t ADMIT
that is what you were a-skeert about, not even to your drinking buddies, so you
just kind of played the Anti-Gun Liberal Card.
Much safer, given today’s politically correct climate ( hey, I don’t
hate black skin, I just choose to NOT live near a black culture that celebrates
hating ME ). Even if there was an
element of economic collapse fear, it was closely tied in with riots following
the events. Go ahead, tell me I’m
wrong. Nothing works as well stampeding
the White Herd. To effectively Divide
And Conquer you need a credible threat, and They are definitely that. Okay, so, many wonderful things happened
during this time, industry wide. The
once proud American gun companies learned how to produce much cheaper firearms. Yes, the quality suffered, but since nobody
could afford much ammunition the odds were you’d never shoot your piece enough
times to find this out. You could at
least afford to protect yourself and that was the main criteria, not being able
to pass down an heirloom to your heirs.
*
Another thing was,
everyone and his brother started vomiting forth entire Third World Armies
Arsenals worth of AR-15’s. During the
shortages and high prices, quality did suffer on occasion even in the “better”
brands, and there is a LOT of Nike Brand Price Penalty, but by and large
everyone can either buy quality at an AK price or spend three quarters of that
for an entry level unit. Yes, it will
break off parts sooner. No, you don’t
need to concern yourself with that.
Buying a high priced better quality AR is a suckers game for a
survivalist. Because, one, there will be
a LOT of them for salvage ( you can bet that after all the mags and mag
accessories and Pimp Daddy accessories, few will have enough finances for much
ammo. After a time with a surplus of dry
rifles around, they won’t be worth a whole lot )( this might be a good place to
insert a word on steel case 223 ammo.
Look over at the Lucky Gunner web site for their torture test. Short version, extraction wasn’t as big a
problem, even though it was a factor, as throat and barrel erosion from the
propellant. As in, after 5k rounds kiss
your barrel goodbye. My point is that
those cheap bastards saving a dime a round probably ruined the gun on their way
to dying. A few months after collapse
your issue is ammo, not the gun ).
*
And two, you shouldn’t be
using the carbine as instructed. My
hatred of the M-16 has lasted a lifetime and won’t ever change. It has a butt ton of positive factors going
for it, all negated by tactical and logistical screw-ups and while it can be,
carefully, used by the survivalist it should never have been a military
standard rifle. But you, yourself, can
make lemonade out of lemons if you pay attention to common sense and forget
everything ever told to you by your government and anyone who ever listened to
the government. The M-16 is NOT a good
military carbine. A carbine which jams
in dirt in the field is NOT something you want to bet your life on. A jamming carbine shooting a crappy round is
even worse. What the M-16 does
wonderfully is preserve forests, making for a happy eco-warrior, waste large
amounts of ammunition, and serves as a submachinegun for troops whose only job
is to act as a tripwire for artillery response ( I tried watching the movie “Patton”
the other day and was simply amazed at the bullspit propaganda that so well
masked the utter incompetent Army bureaucracy of that war and all others
following it [ given the short period of conflict and the high casualty rate, WWI
might have been even worse. I give
officers a pass for the War Of Northern Aggression since they at least had the
decency to die with their men ]. Our
military has been and still is regardless of official protests to the
contrary, fully invested in Second
Generational warfare. A shame, I loved that movie when I first saw it ). Tomorrow, the new and amazingly cheap AR
sniper rifle.

Just finished J.N. Morgan's "Dead" book on how stinky they are and how stinky survivors will be....Suffice to say , it gave a whole new definition to the term "Apocalypse Porn".
ReplyDeleteShort on the apocalypse aspect , and heavy on the porn part.
Good I suppose if you're a teenager with raging hormones lol
I can deal with and live with sex , rape what have you being part of a collapse, hell life does go on and with it the old in and out. Jeez Louise , I really don't need an instruction manual describing page after page , one secession of slick the sick. Thought I was reading a damn Harlequin novel fer christs sake. It did have its moments of promised doomer suspence ,though personally I'd have shot the bitch...
I'm much more attuned to style rather than content. Content trumps style only if you have no style, but with a great style I don't care what I'm reading about. I hope you left a review as requested-that is the "free price" part. Even if you don't like it. Something about more reviews means more traffic? I don't know-I only write books, selling them isn't as easy.
DeleteActually I liked his style , the content even for the most part was good even though I thought his tendency to draw out the word count on sex scenes a bit long.
DeleteProbly just me, cuz I'm old and don't care that much about a smelly patch skin any more lol.
Agreed the sex took up way too much. But, hey, he writes so good I'm very forgiving. If there were a LOT of great writers out there I could afford to be picky about the included sex. But most of them are hacks and posers and dilitants. I'll take the bad with the good, given the lack of true talent.
DeleteI'm building a new AR15 right now, in 5.56, out of pretty decent components. I already have a Spikes lower and a Black Rain upper and a CMMG trigger. The Black Rain barrel is on it's way with the gas port and tube and Midway is sending the smaller internals. Magpul desert tan furniture will be ordered next week. This is my first build and if it goes well (get's 200-500rds down range without blowing) I'll give it to my son and then build my ultimate based on a Noveske lower.
ReplyDeleteI'll be putting flip up hard sights on this build as well as a Burris variable scope.
FWIW, Rural King has some very low prices on AR's if you don't mind polymer lowers. In the 400-500 range. And whatever you do NOT get a 223 as it cannot fire 556, but 556 can fire 223.
That was ALL Greek to me, other than the 556/223 part which I always mix up.
DeleteThere's a little bit of a learning curve to the AR stuff but not bad. Buying that cheap one last year helped, as it showed me what was what. My neighbor has a shitload of AR's and is very helpful but I hate going over there every time I have a question on something. Gotta have my own stuff. In the long run it pays to have quality components and it doesn't cost much more to do so. But you do have to pay attention and do some research. Cheap components can lead to a cheap gun. Notice I said cheap, not inexpensive. Cheap means inexpensive and low quality. FWIW, I place little creedence in the mil-spec notion. While in the army I saw enough military stuff tear up before it time to last a lifetime. This current build is gonna cost about $600, $200 more than the cheap gun I got last year. Another $200 for the Burris scope will bring the total up to $800.
DeleteIf all goes as planned I'll use this gun to hopefully bride our son into moving himself and his family up here in the near future. Last June when they came up for their yearly visit I paid the neighbor to give him a 1 hr crash course in tactical shooting of the AR and he was smitten - never even seen one before in person. Then a few months ago he asked me if I'd be interested in building one for him. He may be starting to come around. Crime is rampant where he lives now and he's concerned.
223 at first glance looks like it's half of 556, so just remember 223 is half as good as 556.
DeleteHey, I like that! Word association works well for my failing memory.
DeleteMy name is pdxr13, and I own an AR-15 pattern rifle. It's not a machine gun, nor is it an accurate "one-shot" hunting rifle for medium critters (get close, aim small, and it will work). The weapon I own has a 20" heavy barrel, and has M-16A2 furniture. 20"HB for precision shooting, with all the velocity the diminutive cartridge can give, as Stoner intended. It weighs almost as much as an FAL. It was cheap-enough, for being made of good parts by a gun-nerd buddy, due to hard shopping on-line and gun shows. Thank goodness that it has a bayonet lug (and a bayonet with cover). If I run out of cleaning supplies, I expect it to be good for 1 shot and a maybe-jam follow-up. Accessories currently are a wide comfortable shoulder strap and lots of C-Products stainless steel 20 and 30 round magazines with 6-magazine bandoliers to carry them in. M855 62 grain in the magazines, fancy (same ballistics) bullets for hunting. There are enough cartridges in sealed packages cached and stored locally to erode the throat to uselessness and shoot the rifling smooth. The Army wanted this rifle cheap, and mostly cheap. The M16A2 only really happened because the A1 was just slightly too lame for Marines, and Marines need to optimize the cast-off junk they get (without budget!) to be able to save themselves.
ReplyDeleteThere has been pondering of adding tritium night sights (not an ACOG!) to the AR for about $100. Worth it? No street lights after the power is out.
Reading up on the Marine bootstrap project for the A2 prototype was fascinating. I wonder if 30 years later they could duplicate, or if the Crotch has joined the rest in beureacratic BS and PC inertness?

ReplyDeleteInteresting news from zerohedge.
nice hair
By praising my hair, are you disagreeing with me? If so, that is fine. Those are the rules and I must abide by them. My take on the article? Frack pimps. The Saudi's are hurting for revenue, why would they cut? It is declining volume. The US is still not profitable on frack units-they are pumping more to lose less but they are still losing. It is a scramble to the bottom. My take on it anyway.

I'd love to read up on the situation there, but this article is indicative of the coverage. Just blame socialism. Socialism is code for "not allowing corporations more control to make more profit". Socialism, to our elites, is not allowing the water company to be privatized so as to be charging the poor inflated prices for every sip. It is good, as a warning for preppers, but all the details behind it are smeared with propaganda.
DeleteGreat point.
DeleteIt's easy to blame socialism (no, it really is because it's counter to human nature) but maybe it's that socialism is the canary in the coal mine (canaries dying easily waRning the human miners of impending death)
Hmm, I don't know. It seems that the spirit of socialism is closer to tribal governance than capitalism is. Note I said "spirit", not practice.
DeleteWhat I get from the article is that in a tough situation, the government will step in and make it worse. We saw this happen during Katrina.
DeleteIMO prepping and surviving is fairly easy -- use 1/2 a brain on where you choose to live, stockpile some food and water, have some way to keep warm, a few bang-bangs to keep the criminal element away, etc. But then you add the government into the mix. No way to protect against that. Ask Randy Weaver and the Branch Davidians how well that works out.
Now the government knows that in a tough situation people are desperate. So they claim to work for the good of the majority in order to have a veneer of legitimacy. Sucks for the individual.
An elderly friend of mine told me how during the Great Depression there was a rule against having too much sugar. She said her dad took their extra sugar, placed it in glass jars and hid it in the chicken coop. Right here in America, folks.
So my takeaway message from this article -- in a crisis situation expect the government to take away anything and everything you have and as long as they can appeal to the folks that have less than you, they will get away with it. In fact, the mob will cheer because now they can say you are to blame for their problems and not the government.

Your analysis is of course correct, but my issue with the article was that it was pure propaganda with zero redeeming values. Almost click-bait. Your reply was much better than the original article.
