OPEC fracks us 3 of 3

OPEC FRACKS US 3

Now we come to the myth that fracking was a game changer.  All kinds of people you would normally have thought of as being smart, or at least not stupid, completely showed their asses during the jingoistic orgy of empire pimping.  “YEH!  Yeh, bitches!  USA, USA!!  We’ve got more oil than you!  Nana nana boo boo!”.  Of course, it really isn’t all that important to them that the country at large has any energy.  The flag waving fervor is part of the carnie act to get the country cousins parting with their money.  As long as they themselves, the corporate store shrills gymnastically waving the ad placard to get the workers inside to spend the company script, are paid well and can live a life of comfort, they could care less if the serfs had a bowl for their gruel or anything to put in it other than the thin fecal smear from the owners underwear.  The empire apologists probably don’t even care if their shtick has any basis in reality.  Patriotism,  Democrats verses Republicans, Lincoln being a hero-all the hype is just part of the dog and pony show.  I’d even imagine they all don’t have the good graces to be embarrassed.  But here is my point.  The “OPEC targets fracking” myth is just a continuation of the Fracking Matters myth.  One and the same.

*

Because what we are really being told is that Fracking Still Matters.  We are STILL the Thousand Year American Reich.  As soon as we square away these pesky Little Brown People interfering with OUR oil, be it under Saudi sands or the Rocky Mountains chock full of a petroleum liquid cream center, America will rise up once again, dust itself off and it is back to Kunstler Happy Motoring and McMansion flipping, an end to all financial problems and a return of the tooth fairy riding to the rescue on a unicorn on a rainbow.  Chant mindlessly after me- USA! USA! ( and before some dumbass says “love it or leave it”, I’m not the one who is confusing the government with the country ).  Fracking was never but a temporary solution replacing expensive Gulf Of Mexico oil that was running out with even more expensive dry land oil that ran out ten times faster.  Put yourself in my shoes.  If I was spouting off about my fantasy of being rich and famous and fabulously hung like a mule, you would laugh uproariously at me.  I am merely laughing at YOUR improbable fantasy.

*

And isn’t it just a tiny bit curious how about the time the fracking industry sees its easily prophesied crash in production actually happening, the Evil OPEC myth comes along?  How convenient is that?  Sure, they say, fracking oil is a little more expensive, but look at all the American jobs provided.  Look at all that long sought after energy independence.  Boy, howdy!  And now those evil OPEC bitches have undercut our production price ( something no American company ever, never ever did!  Honest Injun! ) and woe unto us.  You see, right?  Plenty of fracking oil to be had!  As soon as the price goes back up, never ending frack oil production ( good Christ, please tell me you understood that was all sarcasm ).

*

And who is supposed to be forgetting, after our entire lifetimes of listening to every swinging cheese dingus out there bitch and moan about a ten cent rise in gasoline being the satanic profiteering of Rockefeller’s descendents,  that cheap oil was good and that expensive oil is bad?  Nice mid-game rule change.  And folks bought into it.  There really is no respect for the proletariat.

  1. So are you implying that the USA major oil companies (or rather the investment banks that have the commodities market cornered for oil) are the ones who suppressed the oil price? Or is it the Islamic Extremist territories? or the banks taking advantage of the sell off by the islamic extremist territories (they ISIS type countries have to sell NOW, if they dont they wont be around tomorrow to enjoy higher prices ).

    1. The price is a reflection of drastic economic activity decline globally.

    2. Ah, so the price is low because no-one is buying?
So if one was smart and had a long term view one would slow or even stop their extraction (mothballing as much as possible) and start buying up the cheap stuff while it is still cheap.

    3. Strategically it would be advisable to mothball but I think almost all players are desperate for cash flow. Every small drop in demand gets another pumper selling more for needed cash flow, which drives the price even lower, making more pumpers sell even more, a vicious cycle. You don't need much demand destruction to start the whole thing.

  2. Dude! You have got to be a Brother from another mother. We both have nice hair and big feet, along with thought channeling each other on this issue.

I know I'm preaching to the Choir here, but for those who read the comments, I want to emphasize, we will NEVER, NEVER, NEVER be energy independent, without a drastic cut in our usage, and even then it might be wishful thinking. Even though I don't believe in the Big Oil/Auto company conspiracy to keep oil high and gas mileage low, the car companies only do what is cheapest for most profit. They balance on that fine line of customer satisfaction and profits. The government has stepped in and said you need to make your product safer and more energy efficient, because friends we as customers weren't smart enough to demand these things, because we had been sold a bill of goods as to what we NEEDED. Sarc off. They know the game though and are trying to make cars that are less dependent on the oil teet, because if they don't then they will be high and dry when their product is nearly useless because there isn't any more cheap oil.

    1. Look at consumers buying gas guzzlers STILL, as they look around at 25% unemployment. A seven year loan with $10 gas close by. Even if gas stays at $1.50 forever, you still need a job to afford it. Peak Oil is pointless if no one is employed, from the manufactures perspective.

  3. Far as I'm concerned they can raise gas to $10 a gallon and I won't be too concerned. When I was in germany in the mid 70's benzene was $5 a gallon. I drove just over 4k this year and plan to half that this upcoming year then half it again the following.
Even at $4 a gallon this summer there were too many assholes on the road.

    1. I think gas could go to $15 a gallon and there would still be way too many asswhores on the road. Accelerating madly, swerving wildly, slamming on their brakes right in front of you, running reds even as the other lane starts to cross. And that's taking it easy when there is ice on the road :)

I think so too. I recall a few years back when gas went way up, there was no shortage of jacked up, full size 4x4 's on the road as general commuters. Apparently there are still enough people out there with enough money that driving such an overkill gas guzzler is not a hardship.

I'm the minion that's been wanting to get a scooter. It's not that I want one as much as that's all that I'm probably going to be able to afford from here on out, considering my limited employment opportunities. Of course, when being on the road with a scooter, the term asswhore takes on a far different meaning

    3. At some point, under employment will meet up with a car payment and higher gas and only a few with foresite will have easy ( ie, not walking or bicycling ) transportation such as yourself. Just stay alive until then :)

As well as convincing them to part with their lives over matters that did not effect them directly. The religion of Patriotism has served the elites well James.

I can't imagine what was going through the minds of the union soldiers as they were fighting and dying to hand the federal government more control over their lives? (I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest that were not fighting and dying to free the slaves?)

    1. One can easily feel a Confederates motivation. But Unioners didn't like Blacks and didn't share in profits from factories. Just job security? Just to preserve the Union? Both sound lacking. A mystery.
