energy is more than gas or money 3

ENERGY IS MORE THAN GAS OR MONEY 3
Embedded energy. The monuments of applying energy in the past. Not all energy is wasted. For all the exhaust polluting the air from burning gasoline, there is the Interstate highway system with asphalt roads and concrete overpasses. For all the diesel running barges up and down the Mississippi, there are still bridges passing overhead. For all the fuel burned to go into Earth orbit, there is Tang. And lots of global communication and observation from satellites. We even moved our embedded energy in the form of factories over to China so as to export pollution and jobs.
*
Look at Hoover dam. That one piece of embedded energy allows close to a million people to live in an inhospitable environment. The transcontinental railroads are embedded energy from calories dead Irishmen ate as well as the coal that smelt the iron. Because of that piece of energy, less energy is needed to ferry freight through an area devoid of water transport ( a rather efficient method of transportation ). Look at the embedded energy required JUST to provide cars for all Americans, which itself was nothing more than a way of wasting energy, from a time we had such surplus.
*
Just one city, of many involved in the auto industry, Detroit, has seventy THOUSAND abandoned buildings. Now that my fine feathered friends is a lot of embedded energy. The buildings do nobody any good because a good portion of automobile manufacturing is done overseas now, but keep in mind that it is cheaper in dollars and material to rebuild elsewhere than to merely repair and refurbish those buildings. That tells you two things. We HAD energy to build quality, and we no longer have that.
*
I can already hear the denial. But Jim, those Darkies are lazy and stupid and will torch everything and THAT is why we can't have nice things anymore ( as an aside, you could think of our Black problem as another factory implement energy embedded structure ). I'm no fan of Tribe Black. Not because they are a different color but because they are a foreign dangerous tribe to me. But they are NOT any different than any other tribe in that they defend their own interests. You think they are destroying their own city. No, they are destroying the White Man's property.
*
You think New Orleans isn't being rebuilt because Blacks like to live in squalor? No, don't be a dumbass. Those Blacks are no different that Southern Whites of Celtic descent, who do NOT value permanent residences because of a history of seizures and destruction by their enemies. Excess human energy goes into social capital, not property. They know their lands will be attacked and stolen and put as little effort into shelter as possible. They both have tribe instead of property. So, who is actually smarter in the long run?
*
Blacks know they will probably have to move on, as they once did from Southern farms to Northern factories. Why would they invest in or have an interest in permanent dwellings? They probably started out as herders, and moved with the rains. And need I remind you, they are not of our culture. Their reality is not ours. They simply don't value the same things. ALL humans are as lazy as they can get away with. It is a survival trait. Ascribing astute sloth to one tribe is just another way to denigrate and dehumanize the enemy ( which is ANY other tribe, of ANY skin color ).
*
Equally important to our focus here, the Whites have no interest in resettling Blacks or compelling them to accept rebuilding. The energy needed to do so is too much. If we had the energy to rebuild AND resettle, we would have used the energy. Instead, it requires less energy overall to simply abandon most of the city ( New Orleans and Detroit, among others ) and rebuild a much cheaper version in a new suburb. It requires less energy to keep all the Blacks on welfare than to offer anyone jobs.
*
Jobs have nothing to do with work ethnic or capitalism. A lot of jobs are simply welfare unto themselves. When we had the excess energy, Blacks all worked. The father was not in jail. Blacks had their own communities and there was widespread employment. Now, there is no jobs. The Blacks didn't change their culture, going from industry to sloth by choice. The jobs disappeared with our factory economy. Just as with Whites, factory workers brought home good pay that supported a local economy of mom and pop retail stores and low skilled laborers and etcetera.
*
Whites and Blacks both were paid in excess, a form of social welfare forced on to the factory owners, and both supported their communities with that. That excess energy contracted and declined and with it the jobs and then the economy. The lessened profits went to the bankers rather than any colored local economy. The embedded energy systems didn't have the continued energy to be kept operational. What is a factory but energy and ore combined to create a consumer good? The purpose is to turn energy into a profit. It wasn't dollars that ere lacking but energy.
*
Gasoline itself is a waste product of oil. It is explosive and delivers no product such as artificial fertilizer or roadways or plastic or efficient transportation fuel. Diesel is far more efficient-gasoline systems were only developed as it was a cheap waste product. Driving around offers no economic advantage or production advantage-it merely turns waste into profit. And THAT is only as cheap as it is ( which is no longer affordable ) because of the embedded energy we use to make it possible.
*
Now, ask yourself this. If driving around was ONLY possible through a surplus waste product, and per capita we have only half as much waste product as we used to, where do you see the end result of that being? Not even factoring in maintaining those crumbling embedded energy systems, JUST population and production alone shows a quadrupling of population with a mere doubling of production ( sorry, imports don't count, not when you need real products to trade for them now ).
*
That doesn't even take into account that we must drive a lot more than we used to, with the expanding suburbs pushing affordable housing out to near impossible distances. And prices are not influenced by inflation as much as the drop in net energy. I would argue that as delivered net energy has declined, so has the value of our currency ( money is only chits representing actual surplus energy to be turned into growth ), which means that housing inflation forcing you to live further away and the pay deflation making that more difficult are both indicative of declining energy. Or, as I like to call it, Peak Oil.

note: when I hear "the Amazon Effect" I'm hearing an unthinking ( okay, to be fair, perhaps just an uneducated ) acceptance of the mainstream propaganda.  Well, let's look at the current examples of The Amazon Effect, shall we?    Pittsburgh Steel laying people off.  True, I just ordered a steel girder from Amazon.  North Carolina Department Of Transportation laying off people-Amazon workers must be fixing their roads.  Nestle ice cream division.  Must be Amazon is drone delivering frozen dairy!  Disney laying folks off?  Amazon!  Oracle lay-offs?  Amazon!  The economy is imploding and Amazon is feeding on the corpse.  They didn't kill the victim to begin with.

note: Wal-Mart going full retard on its gun policies.  Do your part for the Bill Of Rights-try hard not to shop there if at all possible.  They no longer Loss Lead grocery basics, and you can get almost anything else cheaper elsewhere, if you plan ahead a little.  Here is my response to them:

"You people are really going Full Retard on your gun policies.  Look how many customers that lost for K-Mart.  As if they didn't have enough problems.  You may do as you wish, it is your company.  Run it into the ground ( I hate to break it to you but you've already lost a lot of my business through other poor decisions ).  If you think the Bill Of Rights is optional, that is your right on your property.   I can only respond by withholding even more of my business.  Which I shall now do.  I'll also pass the word on.  Enjoy Virtue Signalling all your urban liberal customers.  However many that might be.  One wonders how much you'll lose now.  I'll bet Gillette didn't think it would run into the billions."

    I am vastly amused.

    2. I was amused by Amazon reading my mail.
      Then extrapolating my preferences.

Maybe 'amused' is the wrong word.
Maybe 'go fly a fig tree off The Golden Gate Bridge' would be appropriate.

  2. As a kid, we loved extensively exploring Baja Mexico. The peace, the solitude, more stars than I could count in a hundred lifetimes.

By boat and afoot, I marveled at the incredible diversity of geology and wildlife, deserts and the frequent oasis with hot-springs and the purest water I ever tasted.

The Colorado River estuary at the north of the Sea of Cortez was the richest on this particular planet, far exceeding the Nile delta of Egypt or the Mekong of Asia.

After the dams such as 'Hoover' hoovered Colorado River water to Phoenix and south California, that estuary feeding the Sea of Cortez turned into a putrid contaminated concentrated-mineral flat. Dead, and devoid of anything living for hundreds of square miles / hectares.

Occasionally, not often but occasionally, I wonder about the motives of some members of my species.

In today's linked book, the author describes Detroit city as 'the richest city transformed into the poorest'.

    Bison,
I like your description of Black™ Africans as nomadic herders, lacking the need for enduring structures. This explains part of the culture, while the need to destroy other cultures == 'Caucasian' == explains a lot of the rest.

How do you think Roof Koreans fit?

    1. I did a tour over in Korea. Great people. Less urban, more peasant stock than Japan, so you can identify with them. Never met a American-Korean. Not qualified to comment on that culture.

    2. I've been watching a lot of YouTube stuff on the Israelis' efforts to turn another Middle East shithole into the amazing country Israel is now, and their problems with both "Palestinians" (the ne-er-do-wells of Jordan) and "infiltrators" from Africa, and I always think, this is the kind of effort it will take to re-take cities like Detroit. You can't just move there and buy a house for $20 and live; it's far, far too hostile. You need a tribe and I mean a very serious tribe, the kind who know how to fight, with you. It needs to be a team effort.

Yeah Israel's not perfect, but as someone on Reddit commented, "In a US shop, you'll get service with a smile. In Israel, you won't get good customer service but they'll take a bullet for you".

    3. I don't care for Israel, but that is only because I don't want to fund them or fight for them. But, like all tribes, they are selfish. Just as I am, or would be, if the US was still a tribe. I do admire their strengths.

      'Roof Koreans'

Prior to 'teens' swinging-by for a visit in vibrant diverse communities, the term refers to Asian business owners protecting their investment by getting on the roof of the building.

Occasionally, I understand firearms may be involved.

The diverse vibrant underprivileged disadvantaged poor tend to respect Roof Koreans, and take their instant-reparations business elsewhere.
      Particularly if firearms are involved.

Personally, I think everybody should just sit down and mediate with the guidance of trained counselors. To consensus. Because dis-armed is dis-something something.
And besides, Roof Koreans should learn to share.

Stacy Abrams and Reverend Al say so.

  4. I really wish you would settle down and stick to a viewpoint...
Yesterday, as I noted, you said:

"Culture is fixed. It cannot but be static, as change endangers its stabilizing effects, its survival aspect."

    Now today you say:
"The Blacks didn't change their culture, going from industry to sloth by CHOICE."

Are you implying that Black culture CHANGED but that it changed due to external economic factors and blacks accommodated to that force?

So which is it?? Does culture change or is it fixed?

    Stop trifling 😈. Please clarify.

Second, I don't know if you we're saying Southern Celts inhabited N.O. along with blacks but if so, that would be incorrect. Most Celtic Southerners are a "hill people" (Think Appalachia / Ozarks). Former Sec of Navy Jim Webb wrote excellent book about these, his people, the Scotch Irish.

Coastal South, in both culture & blood, is predominately Anglo-Saxon, not Celtic. Derived from West Country of England and northward along the fortified Welsh Marches.
From Maryland's Eastern Shore to South Carolina coast then across to Mobile to N.O. and up the Mississippi to Memphis.

Anyway, two very different sets of people. Border Reivers versus Builders of Civilization.
Anarchy versus Order. Vendetta versus Law.

The Southern Celts were a very settled people. In fact, isolated until '30s Depression. While they might move out of a house they seldom left the region.

The relocation of blacks to suburbs is reminesent of French banlieus (suburban ghettos for Algerians/Morrocans and Black Africans). Whitey don't wanna be caught there....

Last....."Whites and Blacks both were paid in excess, a form of social welfare forced on to the factory owners"

Seriously Jim? Work was social welfare?
And pray tell who forced factory owners to pay the generous wages on the peon / sharecropper class?

    Waiting with bated breath.

    1. 1) "as change endangers its stabilizing effects". I'm not saying culture doesn't change-it changes and hence destabilizes. To retain stabilization, culture must stay the same. Both Blacks and Whites culture has changed. We are living with that now, making the best compromising choices we can. Of course culture can change. And of course that can be destabilizing or actually help with changing circumstances. Instincts never change, as a survival mechanism. Culture changes, as a survival mechanism. But changing to better or worse...
      2) Read Webb. Good stuff
      3) referring to Union jobs. By force, the owners/bankers were forced to share in the profits. Not sure what that has to do with sharecroppers. I'm talking of the trickle down effect of excess wages in the local economy.

    2. Personally, I hate Rush. I used to like him, but back then I wasn't as well read, and libertarian. He is probably one of the few half decent voices on the radio, I just have personal issues with him. Not judging those that enjoy him. I know a lot of minions who refuse to watch modern movies/TV dislike my habit of watching the "not as PC" ones, but to each his own. Whatever works to get you through the day sane, right?

    3. Rush was actually okay in the old days (Circa 1992). I laughed my ass off when he reported on that Commiefornia condor drinking antifreeze, and dying. “I see a sign here folks. I see evolution knocking at the door, and it’s saying, hello, it’s time to go extinct” :D (Probably more humorous if you lived here, and saw how bad the state kisses that stupid birds ass, and has outlawed sportsman using lead in many places as a result) His feminist updates were a hoot as well, but I noticed that he dropped those in later years. Probably because the republican party were rapidly morphing into neo-cons at that point, and were becoming just as feminist as the left.

There was only a brief period of time when I sorta liked Hannity. Very brief. To be fair, fox news does give you news that the mainstream communist/democrat networks won’t, but it’s hardly “fair and balanced”. I find one America news (Cable) to be a much better and balanced form or news.

    4. I took a look at OANN economic news. It might not have a anti-Trump/pro-commie slant, but they sure tow the elite line on whitewashing the economy. "All is well, do not panic". What am I missing by not choosing them over another MSM outlet? It is nice to not read anti-Deplorable drivel, but it would also be nice to get some good investigative journalism. Am I asking for the moon?

    5. You could try the Epoch Times Jim, but you have to pay for it. It’s an actual print newspaper, but it looks promising. But short of that, most sites are probably just reporting what everyone else is saying with regards to the economy, and that’s probably going to be about as good as it gets. You’d literally have to take on the task of analyzing it all yourself, and even then, you still have to factor in the artificially inflated numbers. You might find a foreign site that’s dedicated to honest journalism. But it would probably not be in English (Not a problem, just have google chrome translate it for you).

  6. Re:Post apocalypse motorized bicycle project

My friend from the UK, swung by my house on the way back from visiting his sister in Utah. He took Hwy 50, because he wanted to take his daughter sight seeing, and visit some of the old mines and ghost towns.

In either event, he mentioned something interesting. He occasionally came across people on bikes, literally out in the middle of no where; for instance, Ely Nevada, and Eureka. That’s about a 70 mile gap, with nothing between. They had backpacks, and were apparently bicycle camping along the way to their destination. He mentioned that he wouldn’t mind doing something like, but in cooler weather. He also mentioned that it would damn nice to have a motor to assist his pushy (That’s what they call pedal bikes over there. Those folks talk weird, but he is a friend after all :D ) up those long grades.

I suppose my point is that while such trips are quite possible, for those that are in exceptional shape, motor assist is a feature that should be taken advantage of while the petrol is still a flowin. You wouldn’t have store much, to have a lifetime supply of fuel for the small bicycle engines.
