grand minimum

GRAND MINIMUM

I haven’t really had anything new or exciting to worry about for some time.  Stock market crashing?  Old news-rather long overdue.  Fracking Industry losing even more money?  Old hat.  Trump being an idiot?  Why not, it’s getting him richer.  China?  Russia? NORK?  All same-same, Joe!  Okay, well, how about global cooling?  Just to be contrary, hump you very much you sanctimonious Gore Warming arseholes ( not to say they are wrong, just that they are so screechy and uptight about the whole thing, far worse than me and Peak Oil.  I think ).

*

If you want more information on the occurring Grand Minimum sunspot activity, there is plenty of news out there on that ( a good source seems to be Next Grand Minimum Word Press.com ).  Of course, nobody is sounding all that concerned about it, except Armstrong.  Everyone is, like, totally, “just a trough in a twelve year cycle, dude.  Nothing to see here, move along”.  Well, this sort of sounded familiar, and I don’t mean because in the last year the meme of “look, they all panicked about Gore Cooling in the 70’s” got a lot of traction.  I had written on this before.

*

Surprisingly, because Google search leaves a lot to be desired ( I’m getting much better luck with DuckDuckGo ), I actually found the article.  You need to go back to my last blog ( james m dakin dot blogspot dot com-if you people ever visited my website bison prepper dot com you would have seen the link ) and the July 22, 2013 article was on the cycles of wheat production.  For 700 ( ! ) friggin years the records of English wheat crop production had consistently shown itself following a cycle.  This wasn’t JUST because of solar sunspot activity, although it played a big part.  If I did the math correctly the years 2005 to 2033 will show a pattern of rising prices.  You’ll note this has nothing to do with Peak Oil ( which also started in 2005 ).

*

This is just the same pattern going back seven centuries.  Which, if you think about it, it a bit of an impressive track record to base future projections on.  I know, I know, the Gore Warming Brigade will say that we’ve never had burning oil mess with our planetary temperatures before.  Again, I’m NOT saying they are right or wrong.  I just know better than to NOT be skeptical as much as possible about everything.  It is just that you really cannot convince people of anything, can you?  No matter what the evidence, they either just blanket discount it or say something to the effect of “it’s different this time”.

*

Knowing better, but doing it anyway, I find myself several times a week entering into discussions on other blogs.  No matter how much logic I think I’m using, no one is swayed by my arguments.  I either tell them what they already think is true or they just dismiss me if they don’t like my viewpoint.  It seems like blogs are nothing more than echo chambers.  I read the conventional “wisdom” regurgitated and attempt to question it and I’m the dumb ass.  What happened to “question authority”?

*

I ran across the idiocy about washing your hands all day long.  Wash your hands after urinating, before touching your face, after touching your pet, after picking your nose.  Good frigging God, you wash your hands so much they dry out, split, and you now have an open wound to pour germs in ( but don’t worry, it will only be eight and a half minutes before you wash your hands again ).  Don’t you DARE improve your immune system to negate all those germs, ONLY wash your hands all day, get shots for everything all year long and support our medical industry! ‘Murica!

*

Did anyone want to hear about Vitamin C mega dosing?  My working with nasty, smelly homeless people for a decade and NOT washing my hands all day long?  No.  Vitamins are a placebo and obviously I’m about to die any day and I’d better check into the hospital where they work for $48 an hour.  Yeh, and I know cops who think victimless crimes deserve life sentences.  Way to allow your vile greed to screw over everyone else.  Anyway, back on topic.  It could be very true that we are NOT going to enter a new Ice Age, that food inflation will stay mild.  So what?  Is that a guarantee?

*

This is what happens when you are NOT skeptical of conventional wisdom.  You discount what could be threats because you allow yourself to be bullied into accepting GroupThink.  If we were in a tribe, that would be a survival mechanism.  Tribes need to be of collective mind to function properly ( when we were a WASP tribe, prior to the 60’s, collectively we accepted a lot of individual freedom suppression such as German-American prosecution in WWI, Prohibition, gold seizures, the draft to enrich the bankers, and etc. ).  When you have no tribe to support and protect you, you cannot trust ANYONE.  They are out to use you.  Why do you trust them?  They are ALL outsiders.

*

What do we keep saying about Others?  Those NOT of your tribe?  They will kill you, unless you kill them first.  Today, you have no or a weak tribe.  So everyone becomes Others.  If you ignore a new possible Ice Age, accepting Gore Warming because it is the new PC Paradigm, blindly accepting their “proof”, which is only suspect for the very good reason it is by consensus alone and that by agreeing you get government grants ( like blaming everything on communists used to do ), you could be right.  Or, you could be wrong.  Does it matter?

*

Shouldn’t BOTH views lead to the same logical conclusion?  As in, stock food.  As in, stock friggin wheat kernels.  The same person who argues for a 9mm pistol or an AR rifle because they are so popular and hence the ammunition is way extra cheap, refuses to see the same with wheat.  It doesn’t matter if you don’t plan on eating all that much of it.  Have it, in case you need it.  If you end up with enough Spam and MRE’s to have a better tasting meal, fine.  Barter the wheat.  But if you need it…

*

Damn, well, I guess that isn’t really anything new to worry about.  Even if we are in a larger Grand Minimum than seen for thousands of years ( claims Armstrong ), and we see more plagues and starvation as a result, it is still Same-Same.  Overpopulation, peak oil, Gore Warming, financial collapse-all bring the same die-off with pestilence.  You just might need a warmer jacket on the way there.

  1. I read an article years ago about "How do emergency room doctors keep from getting sick." The only part I remember is they never touch their face. Their nose or eyebrow itches, too bad, it goes un-itched. I asked someone I know who works in a hospital if it was true, and he stated it was. He told a story of one doctor he sees in the hospital breakroom during lunchtime. First, he washes his hands, then he never touches his food. Even the apple in his lunch only gets touched by the inside of the plastic bag he carries it in. I started doing the same thing, never touching my face, no matter how much my nose or whatever itched. It probably cut the number of colds I got by 50%. It also feels good that you can deny your natural instincts to itch your nose, as the itchy sensation eventually goes away on its own.
    Peace out

    1. Okay, if you are working in an ER, or a sewage plant, same difference, I can see the extra precautions. But I can't see it being anything other than counterproductive for normal folks. The weak and ones that should never have been allowed to live will die and we save on taxes. The ones who are normal will just build up their immune system.

    2. This is a little confusing. If I introduce a new hygiene practice (not touching my face) and get sick noticeably less often does that mean my immune system is now weaker? If I go back to my previous practice of itching my nose/eyebrow/whatever, and get sick more frequently, does that mean my immune system is more robust? The cold mutates so frequently, just like the flu, that it seems unlikely that getting sick more frequently would make other sicknesses (future colds, or those that spring up in third-world environments) less severe. If there's sickness on my hands, but I don't spread it to my face, perhaps my immune system still reacts a little to what's on my skin and what I breathe in. I'm not trying to difficult, I just want to engage in the best practice for the strongest immune system. I'm NOT using antibacterial soap, that's for sure.
      Peace out

    3. Just not using anti-bac soap is a huge boost to your immune system. You touch other cooties, then touch your pocket or wallet, that later gets picked up and introduced elsewhere. From what I understand, the face is the best place to introduce the germ, and so that in theory helps. But to answer your question, it is my personal belief that building up your immune system to other or lesser crud will help with mutated crud. Having said that, if what you are doing works for you, I would stick with it. If I naturally have a better immune system which aids in taking in lesser crud and defeating it, and you have a weaker system that needs the help in fighting lesser crud, for your system that might be your best bet. Since we are no longer eating as good of food, there are probably more folks with just naturally weaker systems the "germ inocculations" might not work as well on. It is all a crap shoot and I probably would be better off not assuming what works for me works for everyone. It might be something you need to do all your life, it might be a placebo, there might be a variable I'm not accounting for. Since we can't trust the experts we all need to figure it out on our own.

  2. I use DuckDuckGo as well, partly in an attempt to stick it to Google, and partly due to privacy issues. But in my opinion, it’s not as good as Google. I only recently went on Facebook, and that’s because Amazon (Bezos) closed down the IMDB forums. One of the first things that I learned is that Facebook spies on you like a mad dog, and whenever I go there (rarely) I have to delete about a dozen cookies from my PC. Google of course does this as well. Regardless, whenever I need to look up anything that might be considered borderline controversial, I use TOR browser, or in some cases TAILs OS (which uses TOR browser; approved and endorsed by Edward Snowden).

    1. I know "search success" is subjective, it just seems Google gave me their results based on ad revenue rather than subject matter. Also, you could never get back to Google-you just kept getting a refreshed page you had clicked on. So you have to go back to a new Google page and if you forgot to copy the search question, you had to type in all over again. I got time for that crap?

Here’s what you do Jim. When you type the search words and the results come up on the main page, you don’t click directly on the link and navigate away from the main page with the results. Instead you right click on the link, and “open in new tab” or “open in new window”. This actually saves a ton of time, because rather than hitting the back button and having to navigate back to the main page, you can just close it instead.

You can even set it in your browser to automatically do this if you like when you click on a link, which from what I gathered from your sentence above, you, or maybe someone else may have already done that?

    3. I shall remain a novice on the computer-Hell, I can barely figure out the word processor ( using a fifteen year old one with far less features ). So, yes, the above does help. Thanks.

  3. Durum Wheat is a better storage type than the winter wheat you're buying. It's drier and generally has a higher protein content than the crap winter wheat. Both are better than beans or corn unless you combine the both of them as, unlike wheat, neither of them have a complete amino acid profile like the wheats do.
Also, have you read "Twilight of Abundance" by David Archibald? He believes we're headed for a very cold period of time where wheat will go back to it's 2,000 plus year historical value of 25-45 dollars per bushel. Right now, in the United States, Spring wheat holdover stocks are lower than they've ever been, yet the price is around six dollars per bushel. The Russian winter wheat crop was a record over 7 million metric tonnes above their previous high. That killed us here in the rotting USA. To make a proper loaf of bread millers should be using 30-40% Spring Wheat in their mix with Winter Wheat, Barley, Corn and possibly even Oats (every miller has a different recipe and some more than one) to make a loaf. They shortcut at the EL CHEAPO deluxe bakeries (which is most of them) by adding poisons to substitute for the gluten that is missing when Spring Wheat is cut out of the mix. You get even more gluten with Durum. That's why high end Pizza dough always has a percentage of Durum.

    1. I hadn't heard of the book. Thanks for mentioning it-I went ahead and ordered it. If for nothing else than to be a big ass burr under the Gore Warming fanatics. As for wheat, I'm happy to just have it, even if it isn't the best kind.

  4. On the subject of being healthy by staying dirty I swear by it.
I read that bacteria that live on us or in our gut is higher than the amount of human cells. It's called our microbiota. And when we take a shower we wash our outer microbiota off that's protecting us from germs.
I used to be the only one in groups I belonged to that never got sick. People thought it was cuz I live in the woods away from people. It might be some of that and all the walking/biking I do. But I do circulate amongst people too. It might be that I take a quick cleaup daily but a full bath/shower every 4th or 5th day. A friend of mine with kids started reading about it and now gives her kids a bath every third or fourth day and they are almost never sick regardless of what's going around the classroom.

    1. Doesn't it sound more and more like our ancestors knew what they were doing with the weekend bath ( just water washes until then ) and it wasn't because of poverty? The asswhores claiming it was stupid poor people are just Madison Ave huckster pimps, perhaps? They want us to wipe our asses with TP-not at all sanitary compared to a bidet, but overwash every other part of ourselves.
