true dat homie

TRUE DAT HOMIE

Self deception is a normal daily requirement in our lives.  Without it, the stress would be phenomenal.  You would realize that you are indeed as stupid as everyone else, your wife only loved you for your money, your job is both asinine and unnecessary as well as being parasitic, your pecker is indeed smaller than average and your future is dismal.  It’s enough to get anybody, even a pathological liar like Obammy, to eat a bullet.  So, out of self preservation, we lie to ourselves every day several times a day.  We tell ourselves things aren’t as bad as they seem, that a positive attitude will return dividends, that Life Is What You Make Of It and similar platitudes.  You keep on keeping on.  You lie, know you lie, and that it is okay.  I don’t necessarily disagree with the self-insincerity.  We all hate Mondays.  Mondays signal the end of the weekend, the start of the new week of kissing ass, screeching to the gods at the injustice of the moronic management making your job thrice as hard and half as rewarding as it needs to be, all for the purpose of keeping those asshats in fine comfort and with job security.  You would think that they would appreciate our hard work and sacrifice on their behalf.  But no.  They truly hate and despise you, which makes their “work” of screwing with you justified.  And yet, I’m usually able to lie to myself enough to convince myself I Love Mondays.  Saying it enough almost makes it true.

*

It is that, or go postal.  I used to love my job.  Now it is just like any other Hump Me employment.  Money gets tight, sometimes outside anyone’s control and other times due to managements idiocy, so you are expected to give more.  Sacrifice more.  All at the same pay.  Up to a point, you gladly go along.  Then, management gets pissed you aren’t taking these sacrifices with a big ass crap eating grin on your face.  They are confused why you get pissed about other company policies that still cost the company money, unnecessarily, as you are sacrificing.  Drink yourself unhealthy?  Go postal?  So, you gotta lie to yourself.   I love Monday, and every other day.  Whoopee.  I like it, I love it, I want more of it.  Every day is so much fun, it all blurs together.  What good is NOT lying going to do you?  And yet, self deception has the unfortunate effect, after its initial helpfulness, of turning on its practitioner.  Before you know it, you are lying to yourself so convincingly that you confuse yourself about reality.  You think your job is important.  You think your house is worth the money you put into it.  You think your relationship is secure.  You think anyone cares.  On the face of it, that is all true.  But once beneath the surface, the ugly reality is not pretty.  The trick is not to wallow in reality.  That leads to mental instability.  The trick is just in managing the blowback when the truth reveals itself.  It is easy to do, and a nation full of suckers and conned morons should be your guide.  More next article.

  1. I hate it when I'm forced to admit the fact I don't have a porn star sized pecker. I'm just happy it still works in my advanced age without pills.
    Nice hair!

    1. My junk works just fine without help. My heart, on the other hand...I'd fail the first rule of the zombie apocalypse-cardio.

  2. I recall once before James, that you had recommended a book on survival caching, but the name and author escapes me?

    1. How To Bury Your Goods by Eddie The Wire. If you look at the top of the blog, I've made the main Amazon graphic ad that book. So, if you decide to buy it, please give me some Amazon Commission Love. I have a copy and thought it worth the price.

    2. Doesn't seem to have the greatest reviews James? Also doesn't seem to address the option of caching food stuffs best that I can tell from the reviews? Oh well, for $8.00 it's not like I'm taking much of a chance. Of course I would purchase through your link; I always do ;)

I must admit that I've grown fond of the Kindle option, not that I would purchase this particular book in that format. But at least you can get sample before buying, and sometimes that tiny sample is enough to determine just how hard a publication sucks before wasting any precious, devalued petro dollars.

    3. Strictly about burying guns, from a time it was all the rage and most likely necessary. It has aged well, and since the highest dollar buried good is your gun, and for a Paladin book, a bargain. That said, you may not learn anything new. Coat the metal with Vasoline or axle grease, plastic wrap, pipe and bury is the gist of any cache. Whether this book adds to that by much ( a lot of it is warnings to be unobserved ), I won't guarantee.

    1. I'm working on the new old lady, trying to sweeten the pot to move out of town. If that happens, I'll have the option of quitting. Until then...

  4. One of your best posts. A few months ago, I thought I was going to die soon. Without selfpity or tears, all the things you write, I thought, as well.

So much for James D (for Domesticated) Dakin...you've returned to the top of your game!

    1. Thanks. I thought I was doing okay. I'd write fiction five days, get burned out, look forward to three days non-fiction. At the end of three days, get bored, return to fiction. Time will tell if the majority of readers think I can keep writing non-fiction well enough as I'm distracted by fiction writing.

    1. I know it offers little consolation now, but all these idiots worshiping at the PC false idol will one day also have their colonial status rubbed in their face. Get thee to the safe haven, enjoy the Obammy check while it lasts. Your last means of last minute prepping, and I know you will maximize its usefulness. Be safe my brother.
