economics and finances 2 of 3

ECONOMICS AND FINANCES 2

Yesterday I covered attitude.  If you have the wrong one, you’ll forever be in debt and will have a very hard time of an economic collapse ( good luck with that Overnight Collapse because a closet full of AR-15’s is not going to pay the rent very long and then you’ll never replace them since at a minimum expect Semi Gun Control, so in effect you’ve eaten your seed corn ).  It is much easier to earn less than more, even in “normal times”.  In tough times, good luck keeping a job to keep paying on all that debt.  And just WANTING to get out of debt is worthless.  The 350 pound guy spent half his adult life WANTING to lose weight ( and the other half eating McDonalds ).  As Forrest says, stupid is as stupid does.  I’m not calling you stupid for getting in debt, merely for not doing the hard work to reverse your situation.  If I could support a current and an ex-wife on minimum wage while getting a retreat, any one can.  Just gotta wanna.

*

Now, I hope that settles that, because while I’ve spent considerable time in the past talking about shelter downsizing and the idiocy of owning a motor vehicle, today I’ll cover the forth aspect of living within your means ( first was no rent or mortgage, next was no car, then no debt ) which is medical insurance and doctors.  I know I’ll hear a lot of guff on this.  Most folks have poor genes from poor breeding practices of their parents, then eat mostly poor food and are now in the position that they need medical insurance/coverage and aid.  If that is you, I’m sorry.  It is hard enough for folks to realize they can’t own a nice house, nor a nice car, nor be able to shop non-stop at the mall on a whim ( hell, I love books more than I love most people, and even I wasn’t going to waste money shopping at the mall for them beyond the very occasional trip into stupidity ).  It is quite another when they hear that they are An Evolutionary Dead End.  Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.  I’m certainly not blaming you.  Perhaps you were a vet and the Feds hate you and want you to die faster.  Perhaps you got runned over by a reindeer.  Not everyone can help how they ended up.  But here is the reality.  Obammy-Care is just the beginning of the end.  The medical industry is in trouble and you can’t expect to get coverage for too much longer unless you travel out of the country ( and even then, that won’t last much longer than recreational travel does ).

*

This is what a collapse looks like, folks.  Everything falls apart.  The foul condition of the medical industry was highlighted by Obammy-Care, but all that did was hurry along the condition towards terminal.  The fact is that ALL our institutions are failing rapidly.  Just looking at the elections should prove that.  They no longer care if we know the thing is rigged, nor do they care that we know the candidates are completely unqualified.  Hell, Nixon would be better right now than a walking corpse that is only still alive due to the obligations towards it by Satan or a rich bitch waiting to get his other hand in the cookie jar which are our choices now.  Look at our military-we will soon be fighting with zero functioning equipment ( between contractors acting like Mafia concrete companies pouring substandard school foundations, to cannibalizing spare parts despite all time record budgets ) and zero functioning personnel as the females and transgender types turn everyone into kinder and gentler non-violent PC Army Troops which will in comparison make the Italian military in WWII look positively ferocious.

*

Why are you surprised you will soon lose your medical?  You WISH it was going to be socialized, as then you would at least have a little coverage.  But that costs too much and the bankers don’t care about you unless you deliver them a profit.  No, you might as well just bite the bullet and start changing your attitude and circumstances to reflect the soon to be failing medical industry ( it is already failed, reflected by being in debt for a lifetime if you avail yourself to it, and the fact you might die if you do, due to the pharmaceutical people killing you for profit-by failing I mean unavailable ).  You know you can’t remain employed too much longer, so ditch the mortgaged property.  You know between the PetroDollar  ending and the local governments completely cutting out road maintenance once the next budget crisis occurs, you need to get rid of your car before it can no longer be used ( and you know the feds can, at will, change your auto debt to make it non-dischargeable ).  You know that debt can only drag you under the quicksand.  And you know you must take responsibility for your health NOW, before the hospitals close.

*

Again, I know some of you are stuck relying on our modern medical industry.  For you, you had better have a Plan B to alleviate the suffering you will withstand.  The rest of you, stop being a pussy.  Everyone having affordable competent medical care is only three or four generations old.  Prior to that, you took care of yourself through hard work and good eating and folk remedies and a willingness to tough out the minor things.  Or, you died anyway.  That is what is called reality.  Every one of the seven billion of us on this planet is, I’m most positive, the very most special snowflake and extremely convinced they alone are Baby Jesus’ ( or Baby Buddha or Baby Mohammed’s ) personal favorite.  Alas, there are not enough resources for even a fraction of them.  If Baby Jesus loved everyone, the Earth would indeed be filled with a center of petroleum, enough to feed 100 billion AND give them each a personal flying car ( or, he loves us all anyway-me more than others of course-but can’t help what idiots we are and is telling us to lie in our own bed ).

*

Get in shape.  I’ve recommended giving up the car and biking everywhere, because that is both the easiest and cheapest AND will save you a butt ton of money.  But you don’t want to hear that.  You love your car.  You would hump the tail pipe if it were more elastic.  And I’m positive your SUV is filled with chainsaws and semi-automatics.  Well, however you do it, exercise.  That is the best thing you can do to help your body.  When I moved into town I kept up a partial bike ride to my country property ( twice a week round trip rather than five days ).  But after a time I got lazy.  Yes, work was kicking my ass, but I can’t discount a certain lack of effort on my part.  Well, after a year of barely pedaling, I was feeling like warmed over fecal matter.  I was lifting massive amounts of weight every day, but getting no cardio.  I was short of breath doing anything, but especially when I was trying to service the Old Lady.  So I forced myself to start exercising again ( a half hour a day on the bike pushing hard in town on flat roads.  A half hour was working better than an hour and a half on rutted roads and hills because I wasn’t moving so slow ).  Not only did I not lose my wind as easy after a mere week of exercise, I wasn’t as sore at night from lifting, nor did I take as many naps.  Plus, even if I went into work hating it, just having exercised gave me a lot more energy than coffee alone and I had an easier time accepting the crap they shoveled my way ( the stress was not minimized, but I didn‘t have the usual blood pressure spike ).

I’ll continue tomorrow.

  1. Jim bike cardio is great but most people could also use time in a garden . My place in the country is 8.3 miles from my house. It is easily biked or walked. Good health is going to be a must in the near future and it will be up to oneself.

    1. Cardio first, which gives you the energy to garden and other activities.

  2. I'm the minion that got the 29” bike a while back James. The rear differential started to separate and needs to be tightened up, so I haven't ridden it in a while. One thing that I've noticed though is without that activity in the morning to keep the blood flowing, my energy level has gone down. Got to get back on that thing again soon. I've been riding the stationary bike, but it doesn't seem to be quite the same.

For transportation needs, I'm pretty sure I'm going to get rid of the cars and just get a motorcycle. I figure it's far better than a car with regards to cost. I don't travel often, but if I want to, I'm not keen on giving up having a vehicle all together. How would you handle something like that? Let's say that you wanted to go camping, and the place you wanted to go was 50+ miles away (Assume that you can't borrow your old ladies car here). Would you ride a bike? Rent a car? I figure that motorcycle ownership would still be cheaper than renting a car a few times a year, after the initial investment costs of the motorcycle of course.

    1. Renting a car used to be reasonable. No longer. If I had to go back to paying for motor transport I can see the attraction of a motorcycle. Personally, I'd go with an e-bicycle, but that is only because I'm too cheap and refuse to go anywhere. Within your parameters, yes, I'd ditch the car. Even in this climate. If you don't need to commute to work everyday, it barely snows enough here to be a factor.

    2. If you going to cheat, may I urgue you to look into a a kit that puts a weedeater on your bike? I saw them all over AZ and they can fly. I've seen you bike and know it can be adapted and if you decide you want to stick to principle, you can still pedal
