NOTHING
IMPORTANT
Okay,
nothing important to talk about right now.
Not because I couldn’t. Hell, the
Wales conference with NATO, where either eight or eighty million dollars I
forget which was squandered on a security fence so Obammy can play golf instead
of worrying about a nuclear war with Russia ( the US can’t fight a war with a
major enemy other than with nuclear weapons ), that would be good for half an
article. I’m just getting burned out
here. The old reasons for writing are
getting time worm and pathetic. To help
others? Yes, a few. But every time I get confused and think
people want to know how to REALLY help themselves survive, I’m reminded of the
old Winston Churchill saw (Men occasionally stumble over the
truth, but most of them pick themselves up and hurry off as if nothing has
happened ). To make money? Yes, before.
I’ll never forget my loyal minions and all the help they gave me when I
needed it. But economic times are tough,
the surplus is bleeding out and if you aren’t willing to play the game-and I’m
not- you don’t make money in this field.
The illusion I’ve held that this is a fall-back small business is not
born out by ten years of very intense effort.
To combat stress? Yes, writing
has done that many times for me. It
causes one kind of stress, though, while relieving another. I’m NOT quitting writing. But I’m sure as hell done with the hustle
bustle of two posts a day. Back to one
morning post, and I’ll see later if I even want to bother with weekends. For now, once in the morning, seven days a
week.
*
I might write at lunch, either
for the Loco Gringo fiction, or a new book, as the mood strikes me. Right now, I’ll waste a few lunch hours just leisurely
reading as I recharge my batteries. On
to Spud Fund news. I got one more PayPal
donation, and I sent it out Friday morning.
I added a fin and some change to the donated amount because it amuses me
that the grand total is going to now be $555.55. For the K-book reviews, I’ve read- sorry,
TRIED to read many, many and have come up with three to date you might want to
check out. “The end of the world running
club” by Adrian J Walker is an asteroid impact in England type. Normally, I hate the “the whole world is my
shopping mall” apocalypse stories. But
it wasn’t too god awful bad as there is some competition for resources. And it was very well written. David Forsyth has some zombie books out
there, one I believe titled Voyage Of The Damned which I really liked despite
it being about the undead. His new book
is “Sedulity, Book One, Impact”. It is
the first in a series, a tribute to Lucifer’s Hammer. Again, a great writer. Yellowstone by K R Nilson was a long winded tree
hugging pacifistic screed on lifeboat permiculture but for some reason I couldn’t
put the damn thing down and had to finish it.
All for now.

Lord Bison,
ReplyDeleteCan we get an update on Spud's status. He will likely need more support from the minions. I plan on making another contribution.
I enjoy your writing. Please continue as much as you can.
Loyal Minion
Spud?
DeleteUpdate from the broken TaterTot aka Spud....
DeleteI'm out of the hospital as of last week.
Doctors say it will be another six weeks till I can put weight on my left leg. Then we will see if it will support trying to walk again...
The wound on my lower leg is still worrisome , as it is even now an open ugly gash ( sucks ) requiring daily bandage changing. Next week I see a plastic surgeon and he'll decide whether further surgery will be required to close it up.
Thanks to all for your concern and support !
The Dragon Lady and I deeply appreciate it, and will never forget.
Don't burn out with the blog. Write when you have the urge LB.
ReplyDeleteYour loyal minions will be here waiting for you.
I like to think of it as you'all had a nice four month vacation of extra writing and now I'm just back to the normal pace.
DeleteThe 'normal' pace is fine.
Deleteadjust as needed.
MY needs of course- which means hourly posts this size are going to be required.
Just kidding....
If I got $500 a month pretty regular instead of my $125, you can bet I'd be writing four hours a day. Just a pipedream though.
DeleteSigh. If my budget would allow for an additional $375 to be sent your way I would.
DeleteBTW - what did you think of o' Walter Haugens permaculture book I sent way back then? ever get through his academic analysis?
Since I know the guy personally (no not me) and can say he is an older coot actually living just like he says in his book (yes that includes doing all the academic stuff, by hand even) I would love to get him some more feedback.
Was that an e-book? I'm not recalling. CRS again. And, BTW, that would be $375 EVERY MONTH. Let me know when you change your mind :)
DeleteNo that was a green covered book 'the laws of physics are on my side'. I sent it to fish from amazon last year.
DeleteHe makes a great case for EROEI for sustainable agriculture.
Okay, sorry, I wasn't thinking of that as "a permaculture book" although it does cover that well. I've read that little bastard twice, it is so good. TWICE. Non-fiction has to be top notch for that to happen
DeleteDear Lord Bison, I humbly request to formally be allowed to be considered being one of your lowly um vassals or ur minions, please. I come home from slavery, turn on my computer, go to bookmarks, click on your site, and read every word you utter, twice,. I am in total awe that any one man can be so intelligent and still sport such a commanding head of hair, shit. Man your writing motivates me, Please ,PLEASE Keep writing we need your guidance, I promise to start sending an occasional nickel your way instead of mooching off your intellect for nothing like I have been for awhile. Thank you Brother.
ReplyDeleteGrand Master Bison,
ReplyDeleteI thank you humbly for your writings. Crap, I even got that Kindle App so that I could read your pamphlets and collected sermons. You are the second coming of Kurt Saxon (By the way any one know what has become of that guy?). I appreciate all of your efforts on our behalf. Don't make yourself sick. Take it easy. Once a day is fine. It will give me a reason to stay off the confounded internet.
Your Servant,
Sir Lord Baltimore
I've told you already what really happened to Kurt. He has been held against his will, forced to sign his checks from his DVD books over to his captor who feeds him in exchange. Come on! This is Arkansas. Stranger crap than that goes on there.
DeleteLast I heard James, Kurt Saxon was in declining health? He's 82 now, and I hope that he's around for a long time to come? Apparently up until not too many years ago, he broadcast a show over the shortwaves. I think it's his son that now runs his website and handles all sales of his products?
ReplyDeleteYes, his "son". I'm only funning. But, seriously, you want some business from me, how about waking up once a decade and putting out a new book or video or at least a second edition on thirty year old crap. A quarterly newsletter. Anything. I shan't accept mining the old goldmine.
