ideological tool

IDEOLOGICAL TOOL

As recent events highlight, we are all prisoners of ideological binders.  Trump-Tards, after a lifetime of being lied to during FedGov political campaigns, somehow think This Time Will Be Different ( kind of sounds like the same sucker that bought Apple stock at 300 years earnings and a poorly constructed Black Mold Special [ at “only” five years of combined incomes cost ] way too far from work in the suburbs whence he had to drive a poorly made car he had to finance for eight years ).  Girl-Power Fans insist Hilary needs to be in charge even after demonstrating repeatedly that she was the one who gave Bush Junior lessons in being a neo-con, not Cheney or Rumsfeld.  Libertarians insist that any protection for the common workers is evil and communistic and must be stopped forthwith.  Now, I’m not exactly casting rocks about wantonly in a glass house here.  I was exactly the same way, a Libertarian Ditto-Head.  Do you think I enjoy looking back fondly at what a dumbass I was?

*

But I could have been a far bigger douchebag and remained fixed on that ideological viewpoint my entire life, refusing to listen to facts, locked into my worldview with no desire to change.  There are three teachers in life.  Schools, books and experience.  I was a real smart guy, prior to experiencing life ( thank goodness I put off writing until my late twenties.  That was superficial enough that I would hate to have listened to myself earlier ).  Now, after I was bitch slapped about a bit by reality, I can filter what I read through some common sense I gained in the School Of Hard Knocks.  And I can safely say that NO ideology passes the smell test.  It certainly all always reverts to being at least a little bit bullcrap.  Liberals ignore biology, conservatives ignore resource limits, Americans and most other nationalities confuse capitalism for an economic system when it is merely a religion.  Religious folks ignore logical thinking and atheists ignore anthropology as pertains to superstition ( themselves usually confusing science for anything other than another religion ).

*

So here is my point.  We have all been using ideology as a prism to look at the world, and in the meantime ideology has been used against us by the Elite.  They are waging a class war while we are blinding ourselves by fervently siding with our favorite belief system, which conveniently somehow always sided with our Masters.  The perfect example is the folks who vote Democrat because that is the party Against Big Business.  Now, I readily admit that the Democrats used to do a heck of a lot of good.  They were NOT the party that bled a nation to centralize the government and to kill states rights.  They did stand up for the common laborers trying to Unionize the workplace.  Of course then they screwed it up by being the party for pretty much any weirdo and wacko out there, but more importantly they turned their backs of the working man and instead embraced all of his enemies by going PC.  And they screwed the workers by joining with the Republicans in selling off our industrial economy and installing a banker economy.  Bankers might have been running the joint for the last hundred years, but the point of contention here is when BOTH political parties decided that the way forward was on the backs of all the poor, working or otherwise.

*

And the poor have been too busy to complain.  They are busy hating each other.  Women workers hate men workers, old workers hate young workers, Whites hate Blacks, and on and on.  If I say to you, we need minimum wage to keep a floor on wage destruction and inflation, you start with the old Republicans Love Freedom script.  And that script sounds and feels good.  But it is all BS.  Republicans who are rich love the freedom from government to pay workers less, while increasing unsafe conditions, using foreign manufacturing as a threat against any dissent.  At the same time, the Democrat rich love “diversity and human dignity” because it allows a river of poor immigrants unfettered access to our economy who help drive down wages.  Between women in the workplace, immigrants legal or otherwise, Chinese competition and automation in all sectors, we have almost no jobs left.  And you want to pay them LESS?  Even that has an answer.  Oh, if we lower the minimum wage, there will be more jobs.

*

Really?  Obammy lowered the 40 hour workweek to under 32 by penalizing full time workers with unaffordable “health care taxes”, and now, not only are there less jobs overall, they pay less due to fewer hours.  And we should lower that pay some more?  Oh, if they lower the minimum wage or better yet abolish it, owners won’t buy a robot to replace a worker.  Really?  Have you noticed any floor sweeping robots in businesses?  The classic Free Business line is that when minimum wage started, retarded school children were no longer economical to employ as floor sweepers.  Yet, no automation of floor sweeping has happened after the insanely high cost of minimum wage was started.  You know who sweeps the floors now?  The guy with another job title.  Every worker just does more now.  In fact, the fabled Productivity Increases is due in large part to having each worker simply assume more and more ( and more ) tasks, not to some ideological myth of the American Worker being so awesome.

*

The Republicans/Libertarians point at the minimum wage as being a communist plot, usually invoking the now very tired line of the rising tide lifting all boats, while the Democrats urge a higher wage even as they kill employment with immigration.  They are telling you one thing but doing another.  Neither ideology wins, nor do the workers.  The rich, and I’m sure you’ve noticed all Democrat politicians seem to be in that category, well, they seem to be the only ones making money as real wages stagnate or shrink.  But we are all on the side of the rich, willingly going along in the effort to screw the workers.  We are their water carriers, their Yes-Men, their obsequious mouth pieces.  Yes, Sir, may we have another?

  1. Now, I am very libertarian by nature - But I do believe there need to be some government, if only to protect us from other criminals and governments. It just needs to be limited to the bare minimum to allow a level playing field. This level playing field means full disclosure in all relationships, and penalties to individuals or organizations that do not provide this disclosure. This means environmental regulations apply if there is any chance of pollution leaving ones property. This means fees and fines if employees are not instructed on how to utilize safety equipment (*and liability if such equipment isn't provided) It means customer protection laws like cigarette cancer style warnings on all products. It means fines to employers who hire employees at below a certain minimum wage as those employees then may become a burden on the rest of society.

    1. Government is just how a non-tribal society governs itself. Equalitarian hunter/gatherers still had rules constricting individual freedom.

    2. The big difference between tribe and nation, was that the tribe would be happy to see the back of you should you not be willing to obey the tribes rules, where-as the nation insists you not leave without punitive sanctions, or better just not leave.

    4. Banishment from the Tribe or City-State was an almost certain death sentence. A person with soldering or woodsy skills might make it a few years, but then get killed by bandits. It's hard to be a lonely boy without a calorie-stuff support system.

Failure to understand this most basic premise leads to all kinds of weirdness that you see everywhere these days.

    1. See my 2nd sentence.
I spend a fair amount of my valuable time trying to avoid all of this required tyranny some people claim is necessary. I suggest you get a big ol' push broom at Lowes and sweep all the boogiemen out from under the bed. Clue: The solution to petty criminals is not to hire bigger criminals. This is sort of self explanatory.

Regarding JJ's idea: When you train a pitbull to kill it can kill the trainer too. But, but, but, you can put a leash on it......yeah, right. That's been working well the last 200 years hasn't it?

      None for me, thanks.

    2. I can think of not 1 example of having a gov't has benefitted me directly, but I can summons an entire grocery list of examples of how it has hindered me.

Net result: gov't is an illusory ploy purchased retail by people that should know better but have been kidnapped by their pre-programmed fears.

    3. One example of govt. helping you out directly? Fill up your gas tank recently? Debt for oil, baby! As an imperial citizen, you are not as impoverished.

    4. Ghostsniper, if we could do without it entirely I would be happy to do without government of any sort. But organizations almost always (historically) triumph over individuals. I believe the best we can do is to have the smallest government (pitbull) possible, kept well trained, and better armed than that organization, so as to be ready to put it down should it become necessary. Back in the 1920d (30s?) or so the US Government reversed that capability- no automatic weapons for us. No cannon mortars or other military level weapons beyond single infantryman's. Combined with the economic leash they began putting on the average man with the 'Fed Reserve', IRS, and gold confiscation we have passed the point to owning the dog and are now at the point of being the b***h or trying to kill it with slow poison - and when it is in its death throws every other mutt will want to take its place (gangs, cartels, mafia, foreign governments, etc, etc).

  3. The whole doing away with the min wage thing angers me greatly. It's a race to the bottom but what's the prize? A large very angry underclass just itching to lash out. At who? The 1% better be doing more than just hoping it's not them.

It's like economists, media talking heads and corporate leaders are ignorant of the Paradox of Thrift (not everyone can save at the same time). Company A cuts wages and saves a wad of cash. Company B does the same giving their shareholders a nice bonus. Eventually we reach Company Y which has to lay off workers because nobody is buying because all the workers have had their pays and conditions slashed.

I don't know what it's like over in Bison land but here we are experiencing increasing costs in the things we can't avoid such as utilities (my water bill increased from previous quarter even though usage fell) whilst wages are stagnate or decreasing.

I have noted that companies are big on promoting that their services don't have lock in contracts or very short terms (subscription services like gyms, pay tv, internet etc) and I take that to mean that people are reluctant to commit to them.

I think we are screwed. We're being led by and are surrounded by people thinking short term. The next quarter profit statement, the next election, the next pay cheque. Let's put off maintenance for someone else to handle and hope it doesn't blow up on our shift.

Dang I'm getting depressed just thinking about it.

Collectively we are all at fault yet at the same time nobody is.

Secure your calories, secure your own personal border, secure your tribe & get out of debt whilst hoping for the best

    2. The elites plan is obvious yet no one wants to believe it.
Their sucking every last bit of substance out of the system, then they'll retire to their bunkers until the vast majority of the mouthbreathers ( that's us ) die off.
The rest of us we'll be used as slaves to maintain their lifestyle as best as can be.
Maybe not a viable plan but a plan nonetheless.

    3. One the one hand, what you say makes sense. On the other hand, are we giving them too much credit for even having foresight? Can you imagine a Rothchilds even thinking outside the banking system lasting forever by moving from one empire to the next paradigm?

  4. Lord Bison,

Your hair bringeth a shine to the barren corners of the Northeast during these bleak and cold days of January.

Seriously. Probably one of the best things you have written. Akin to HL Mencken in some ways. I've been feeling a lot of this lately... I find for instance much of what the alt-right has to say of substance or even old school non marxoid Anarchists. At the end of the day this often translates into the bleating of malignant rabid sheep intent on recreating some version of Animal Farm.... "F(*& it all and leave me be" That is where I stand anymore.

    Well take care out there.

    1. Thank you for the kind words. Love the Animal Farm ref. His best work-I think 1984 is just hype people use for a talking point-they didn't even read the book. Another one everyone should read that no one does is Lord Of The Flies. That one and No Blade Grass will demonstrate all you need to know about true human nature in crisis.

  5. “Do you think I enjoy looking back fondly at what a dumbass I was?”

Nah, you're still a friggin dumbass, that much is certain. And one with no credibility either after you sold out your principles (followed by pathetic excuses) to pay $500 a month towards someone else's mortgage to move back on-grid, all the while preaching against the evils of auto ownership in order to save a few hundred a month (logic!). You're all over the map there Jimmy boy, and I don't even think you know what you believe anymore.

If this were a physical rag, at least it would serve the secondary purpose of wiping my bum. Instead, it only serves the solitary purpose of daily comedic relief.

    Your friend Al Gore

PS, you suck, but send me more money, my jet is thirsty, and there's lots more sheep out there to be fleeced.

    1. Get your facts straight-it is someone else's $400 mortgage and I only pay half. My total earnings for the month are $500. PS-don't let Inconvenient Truths stop you from invinting something else like the Internet, to save humanity.
