OIL ECONOMY LIES
*Note: favored minion, the RV 12v LED light arrived in the mail. Looks pretty sweet! Thanks you.
*
Ah, the lies we tell
ourselves.
1) The US is the worlds
only military superpower.
2) The US is the worlds
largest economy.
3) The US dollar is the
currency other flee to.
4) The US has a free
market, Yankee ingenuity and other one of a kind traits.
5) Fracking Oil has made
the US energy independent.
6) Even if Peak Oil is
100% correct, we still have half of our global oil left.
7) The US has easily
weathered severe economic depressions before and can do so again.
8) The transition from oil
to other energy sources will be rough but successful in the long run. We got knowledge, yo!
9) The US, even in civil
war and Depression, has always been law abiding and relatively peaceful with
representative government.
10) The US is the land of
plentiful resources and can recover from whatever calamity befalls us.
*
1) The US is the worlds
only military superpower. While it is
true that the US spends far more than most other large powers combined, this is
certainly not indicative of strength.
The US has shrunk its military personnel by 95% ( taking into account
population growth to reflect the percentage of population in uniform ) since WWII. And not only has the number of uniform
wearers shrunken, now in many cases those are female. Unless we are fighting the Netherlands, they
will be pitted against males, not other females ( interesting Fun Filled Fact-
the first female combat death in the Gulf War was due to an overburdened MP on
urban patrol losing her balance, falling off a pier and sinking to the bottom
of a harbor ). Females share neither the
upper body strength nor the natural aggressiveness of males, on the
average. Regardless of how wonderful
females are at non combative roles ( and there are very, VERY many that needed
standards to be reduced to accept them ), unless you can guarantee your support
personnel won’t be put in harms way ( which, obviously, the newest Iraq war
proved you can’t ) you are asking for some pretty serious trouble by making a
major component of your military female.
Even the Israelis, surrounded by hostiles, put their females in very
limited military positions. Far more
limited than our forces. And this doesn’t
even get into the cultural damage female equal rights have done to the
remaining male military personnel.
*
In WWII a military
airplane took two hours to construct. It
now takes, astonishingly, in some cases a full year. Nor can you claim higher tech makes up for
the difference. If like fights like, and
you must replace losses, you can’t afford long production times. Ask the Nazi’s how well higher tech fared
against masses of primitive butt simple tech.
For the most part, the only factor significantly contributing to the
length of time and the number of times they were so successful was their
superior training and organization. I
don’t believe you can claim the US is anywhere close to that achievement. We are a politically correct 1920’s corporate
organization masquerading as a military and only nuclear deterrent and the
financial control of the globe and most of its oil has kept us in business with
a military that is mostly defense industry profit and not much in the way of a
fighting force ( the only way we win against inferior opponents is when we bomb
their infrastructure to rubble, and then we only win against the conventional
army that has no air force ). You can’t
claim to have a grasp on simple tactics or strategy when you still, stripped of
all its flash and glitter and microchips, practice meat grinder cannon fodder
fighting.

ReplyDeleteIH how do you get rid of the pickle smell from the lid ? I have failed repeatedly .Doing BBQ I empty 1 to 2 a month."
I washed dishes by hand. So for a month or more, I just leave the metal lid (from a gallon glass pickle jar) soak in my wash water whenever I am doing dishes. Eventually the pickle smell goes away.
The longest time it took for a smell to go away was when my youngest daughter bought me some pretty metal containers from a thrift store that contained perfumed talc powder that were the perfect size for salt and pepper shakers.
Those took 3 months!!! of soaking. The smell finally did come out, though.
I have also had success in getting jalapeno pepper smell out of several 55 gallon plastic barrels by leaving it full of water over the summer.

Thank you ! I will soak rinse repeat for a month or so.
DeleteRegarding the Germans during WWII, I remember reading (was it here?) about how much more advance their equipment was -- tanks, guns, etc.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately under war conditions -- mud, rain, cold temperatures, jostling -- the average grunt couldn't maintain the equipment. It was too complex.
That has ramifications for survivalists. You might have the bestest, newest bling (water filter, generator, emp proof vehicle, gun, etc.) But if you don't have access to a supply chain, you might be screwed.
One year, we bought a top of the line true sine wave inverter that cost $1500. A power surge from our generator fused the automatic power switch-over. (This automatically changed your house power from the generator over to battery power and vis versa.)
After some internet sleuthing, hubby found a replacement part for $2.50 but the Chinese Company wouldn't sell it to us. They told us to send in our old unit and they would give us a $500 credit toward a new one. Bottom line -- we would have been out of pocket $1000 all because of a $2.50 part.
Luckily, my hubby is an electronic tech so he went in and fixed it. Every once in a while, I had to physically hit the inverter to unstick the switch but we made it work for several more years.
The brand by the way was Xantrex. (We'll never buy anything from them again.) Several years later when the inverter gave up the ghost for good, we switched everything over to Outback. Love them -- great customer service, wonderful to talk with and they will sell you parts. For a while, most of their product code numbers start with "FX". The "X" stands for Xantrex.....You can figure out the "F". ;)

The Germans were incrediably ahead of their time ( think of Star Wars leading for a decade in special effects-which was also on a low budget ) in technology. That didn't hurt them, per se, as the training and organization were even better. High tech was the best available compromise due to lack of basic resources. Just as it is for us. But it has its own vulnerabilities. Just like your electric trials would be avoided by a guy lighting by keroscene, even though he missed out on the Internet and TV.
Delete"While it is true that the US spends far more than most other large powers combined, this is certainly not indicative of strength. The US has shrunk its military personnel by 95% ( taking into account population growth to reflect the percentage of population in uniform ) since WWII. "
ReplyDeleteI would think that the increased spending would be a given James when you're invading and colonizing more countries than anyone else on the globe combined. Even prior to the 95% cut back, I can only imagine with such an agenda in play, that you would be stretched pretty thin among your ranks.
Something tells me that the latest experiment of integrating females into the special forces is going to end particularly bad. Eventually the real men, the one's needed to fight in an actual war are going to say the hell with it and avoid the institution all together, leaving only the low tier males, the fems, and the gays. The fems and the fairies will be in the foxhole sharing hair styling secrets, while the remaining males fight the battles. Not having their heart in taking human life, since after all, they thought they were signing up for a "career" as per their recruiters words, they will be quickly dispatched by enemy combatants.
Of course technology could take us in another direction and we could end up fighting primarily drone wars?
I think drones are just another ratchet up of robotizing fighters. Not a bad thing for the meat warriors but unsustainably too high tech.
DeleteOuch! how dare you take and tell us that the spear wielding savages can resist our mighty armed forces! /sarcasm off
ReplyDeleteSure we are the worlds best military in tech, and we have nukes and an armed populace to dissuade uniformed invaders- but as the illegal immigrant invasion, 9/11, Afghanistan, and Iraq prove - asymmetric warfare troops can hold their own and even make gains against the might of the most expensive technology in the world.
Most people think Vietnam was lost because we didn't nuke them. Why learn strategy or tactics when you can just read a textbook to explain everything.
DeleteVietnam was lost because the Vietnam general utilized all the teachings of Sun Tzu's The Art of War to perfection.
DeleteChuck Findlay
Well, in general, yes. In practice communism and other silliness intruded at times, but yes in the long term big picture way. Which is all that counts.

ReplyDeleteI have to guess you have never lived next door (like I do) to a black woman!!! Bad, absolutely Bad To The Bone. They are mean and scary...
Females are aggressive in a Machivellian sense. So, while I failed to communicate it properly, I was speaking of physical aggression.
DeleteWe didn't nuke Nam with paper currency because it was real money back then ( backed by everyone's gold ). We didn't control Iraq with money in '91 since it was oil currency. Now, backed only by Quantatative Easing, we can throw cash around with wild glee. It isn't real anymore.
DeleteAs far as how aggressive females are all a guy needs to do is get married and wait for the sure to come divorce. He then will find out just how aggressive they can be as far as taking all he has, taking all his money he has and will make for the next 10-years. And with government laws backing and helping woman it's a gurrantee he will be hung out to dry.
DeleteWoman like to tell us they are strong, independant and don't really need a man to live and earn a living. All one has to do to blow this idea out of the water is to go spend a few days in court watching the outcome of divorce proceedings. Pretty much all woman claim the victim in court to take all they can get.
Most guys (the even half way smart ones that is) will never allow this to happen again.
Can you say MGTOW?
Chuck Findlay
Well, again, not physical aggression but lies, deceit, etc. Those are fem survival traits as ours are purely physical.
DeleteAs far as woman in the military here is a 12-min video that pretty much explains how bad it has worked out.
ReplyDeleteLadies, be warned this is harsh truth, not candy-coated words like most of TV and Hollyweird pump into you. So if you are easily offended by facts I would say to pass on watching it.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z9zp6kyIcWo
PS: if you want to know what motivates this guy (Terrence Popp) here is another video he did that pretty much explains his and many men's view. Again be ready for some harsh truth from a man's viewpoint that has been raked over the coals.

I would post more on this, but that pesky thing called work is calling me away right now.
Chuck Findlay
Damn work, always up in our grill.
