far from graceful

FAR FROM GRACEFUL
Commander Zero noted half of his readers were over the age of 55 ( from a poll ).  I’m 54 next month, and my age group was an additional 15%.  Only 7% in total were under the age of 36.  More than likely, children rearing age meant the wife severely restricted prepping, probably going to far as to prohibit wasting time on Internet research on the subject.  If she even needed to-I don’t recall having much Me Time the first three years of my kids being hatched.  No TV, no movies, no reading.  If the Web had existed I wouldn’t have had time for that either.
*
It isn’t like White gals aren’t having children.  They just aren’t having enough.  Probably enough for most young males to be captive in their younger years ( I have no problem with that myself, just with gals pumping and dumping the wallets-it would have been nice if my kids weren’t strangers ).  Plus, there simply isn’t enough obvious threats out there to interest young men to prep.  A nuclear armed Soviet Union, with gasoline lines, even the dumbest hormone laced young man ( such as myself ) can pay attention to.  More subtle threats are ignored.
*
It takes maturity and practice to identify the real threats to our civilization. If you go through life with a boner on your forehead, you see all the smiling Mexicans and every household with some disposable income, you don’t look at the racial war or true Worse Than Great Depression unemployment rate.  I had plenty of free time before I was ever deflowered, so I had a head start on survivalism.  That got me through the economically barren years.  But today?  Without nuclear war, it is too easy to look at economics and only see successful kicking the can.
*
But be all that as it may, when I call all of my minions Crusty Old Bastards, I’m going to be more correct than not ( yeah, I know most of you could kick my ass ).  So I’m preaching to the choir here.  Hopefully though, since by being older you are by definition Old School, perhaps I’ll say something interesting.  You know what I’m talking about-you guys are stoic and bull headed and do stupid crap because it is macho.  I don’t think that is wrong, just that it should be tempered.
*
Being macho is necessary.  If you live in a tribe and must protect it.  The average young white male had no problem joining the military ( rather than waiting for the draft like the rich kids did, then tried to fight it ) in Vietnam.  He was protecting the WASP tribe.  It didn’t matter if it was a colonial war. If all males voluntarily went to all wars, in the end it was all beneficial.  It was the system that worked, so there was no need to judge each conflict as worthy or not.  Plus, who thinks they are mortal at 18?
*
Since then, however, we have lost our tribe.  Every year it gets more obvious.  And so it becomes a bit more important to distinguish wars of defense compared to wars of colonial occupation.  And the sad point is that there isn’t a lot to be recommended for fighting for this country anymore.  For PARTS of it, to come shortly, sure.  For the empire itself, which is actively genociding WASPS’s, not so much.  Being macho sure isn’t as necessary as it once was ( I’ll probably already have covered this subject’s timing in my e-mail newsletter.  Favored minions do subscribe ).
*
You older bastards are probably from the old tribal protection paradigm.  My generation not so much.  I had always wanted to join the military, but is was already being phased out culturally.  You almost have to wonder if the military being PC was on purpose, to help that along.  The hatching of the Soy Boy population.  My point here is that to one generation being macho was not yet discouraged, but it was almost optional, and to an older generation it was mandatory.  Do those of you from the mandatory era feel you can disregard that with age?
*
I honestly don’t know.  I don’t socialize enough to have conversations.  Me?  I’m having no problems accepting my aging process.  I won’t try to be macho by carrying too heavy of a backpack or try to be a mighty warrior carrying far too much firepower.  My junk is big enough, so I don’t try to measure it against anyone else.  Not that I’m trying to be lazy or a pussy, just that I’m not going to try to impress anyone else.  Bushwhacking isn’t macho?  I don’t care.  It gets the job done.  And the enemy isn’t tribe so I owe them no honor.
*
Same with the banks.  They literally destroyed the country.  Hell yes I had no problem declaring bankruptcy.  I owe them no honor.  Women and children first?  Sure, if they belong to my tribe.  Otherwise, nits turn to lice and breeders breed.  I was edu-macated to feel sorry for all the poor little baby and female Indians, viciously hacked down as they were defenseless.  Of course, nobody bothered telling me that before we showed up, the Gaia Hugging sustainable peaceful Indians were doing the exact same thing to each other ( I guess even if it wasn’t macho, they still had no problem with it ).
*
Being fat and happy and having no consequences for ignoring reality, modern western societies were able to minimize the macho.  It is okay when old men do it, as they have little choice.  But I don’t think they ever willingly begrudgingly accept it.  Unless they are from the modern generations that had practice their whole life.  It is certainly no way to prepare for the apocalypse, but it does make modern life easier I suppose.  For you old dudes, lighten up.  No one cares.
*
Even if YOU care, you don’t have much choice.  Without those hormones, you are limited in your multiple choice picks.  Stop worrying what other people think.  Old Times, it WAS important what the tribe thought.  Now?  You don’t have a tribe.  At least enjoy the positive aspects of that.  Don’t go overboard and whine like a little girl, but you can also stop trying to impress so many folks.  Macho is shorthand for Flying Off The Handle.  Not Caring.  It is still good to act like a man.  Just separate “macho” from “gentleman”.  And don’t let the asswhores define you.
*
You want to carry concealed to defend yourself?  Fine.  But to be macho and defend strangers?  You know all those bitches voted Commie and Anti-Male.  Let the criminals weed a few out.  It is as close to revenge as you are allowed.  Trying to help someone medically and still screwing up might not see you persecuted.  MIGHT.  I’m not sure how the laws have changed. But shooting anyone?  The inJustice System will go after your ass as the easiest target.  Let the system eat its own young.  Because folks will judge you by the old system, but judge themselves by the new.  Don’t play the crooked game.

  1. Yep. At my juncture in age and the current cultural and society new standards there is certainly new game rules. I keep my own stoic old school systems of beliefs and habits. (keep them to myself, their mine, I own them) Rarely bother to share with or support neighbors, contacts or society at large. It is self cloistering my own systems inward, while ignoring the external systems or society. This is definately as described self defensive and preemptive protection measure. Wave to neighbors to appear outwardly congenial, but don't bother speaking or conversing with them or any one else. Most deep discussions will go over their heads as they are low I.Q. or leftist communist corrupted and not salvageble. After that half century of time, most of our like minded types have a belly full of these dynamics and are ready to check out from it all and stay on the porch to just enjoy the remaining view and scenery. Plan accordingly.

    1. No tribe members for you! Plan accordingly indeed.

  2. 7:38 is an example of that generation (1960-75@ era births) between the boomers and all the other following generations. They are those older and very dangerous ones. Smart about how things 'should' run, know where the switches and controls are. Hold custody of master keys and access codes. Own the majority of weapons and "ordnance". Have near economic independance or assets enough to go rogue 'long time G.I.'. Careers and options are in the twighlight era, nothing really to lose now. Families are fractured or scattered about on their own. They could become like a running amok "Dorner", (loose example) with gray hair and a worser attitude, if pushed on too hard or too often. Product of environment, adapting like the animals they are.

  3. Good post, and I agree on the nothing to prove aspect. I think that us older guys should be more realistic, if going up against the few young and/or healthy warriors that will manage to survive the collapse (Not seeing many from today’s millennial, or generation Z falling into this category, but figure that there will at least be a few). So with that said, the older among us should plan more on the “Doc Holiday strategy” of self defense. According to Bat Masterson, a healthy 15 year old boy could have easily kicked ol’ Doc’s ass, if it weren’t for the pesky fact that the dude was a master of firearms and knife handling.

With regards to using a gun in a self defense situation, it’s a risky proposition. Some states have what is referred to as the “stand your ground” law, which provides you with more self defense options. But generally speaking it’s a real fine line to skirt. In most jurisdictions you are required to leave the premises if at all possible in the event of a home invasion, while simultaneously calling 911. If an over zealous DA is up for re-election (and these days it’s usually a god damned feminist with a chip on her shoulder) and it can be questionable that the situation did not necessitate the use of a firearm, you could find yourself in a whole heap of trouble.

    1. I think you are better off, more times than not, just assuming you need to bury the body. Or, preferably, throwing it over the wall into the mayors yard.

    2. I agree. Just be sure that there is no way that the crime can be traced back to you. It’s real hard to get away with anything these days, thanks to DNA and chemical analysis. Did you hear about how they finally caught that east bay serial rapist dude, that eluded capture for over 40 years? One of his relatives apparently did one of those ancestry dot com DNA tests, and they now had a database to match crime scene DNA against. Busted! If you are out and about in an urban or suburban area, you will almost certainly be picked up by one of the myriad of cameras that such areas now feature (I know that this probably applies to few here, but it’s something to keep in mind).

But if you’re in a situation as the one in the link below, he could have probably rested easy after having blown the scum bag away, and continued on merrily with his fishing trip after having dumped the body in the river :D

    3. Uh...gas or kero and a match to destroy DNA?

    4. Regarding that DNA problem. Does it show up in coyote fecal matter? Was just out in the moonlight watering ye oldt oak tree on the south side of the garage and admiring the stars and listening to the multi-part harmonies of the coyotes maybe, oh, 1/4 mile away, where they always are this time of the night. Ever hear em? I've read they do that unique thing some of the indians (feather not dot) could do where it sounds like 2 or more voices at the same time. So there's no way of knowing how many coyotes are down there. Could be 1, could be 20.

Anyway, they out there, and they hungry. We have a compost bin and any meat scraps that are thrown in there are always gone the next day. We takes good care of our wildlifes, as they may come in handy in the future when there are no more stores, or funeral parlors.

    5. Feeding wildlife the rancid corpses of today's enemies ( commies, PC Brigade, FLEAS ) is animal abuse.

  4. On the one hand, nothing seems to refute your idea the gun owners meekly give up. On the other, who knew the Yellow Vests would be so effective or widespread. We can't guess what might arrest or reverse the trends we are frightened of. Not that that invalidates the hermitage advantages.

  5. "I’m having no problems accepting my aging process"
    ===========

That's cause you ain't old yet!
    54? Please. I got screwdrivers older'n that.

Give it another 10 years, THEN you can claim to be getting old, and it's a real hor. I pay attention to stairs now, and hold on to the rail with at least 1 hand, always. Hurting hurts. And, it seems everyday something else is hurting, just because. There shoulda been a class on this stuff in school. But then, I wouldn't have payed attention in that one neither.

    54 in Jan? What day?
    I'll be 64 Jan 31.
I remember being 54. Seems like about 6 months ago or so.
I was highly productive at that age. Now, I'm a little less so. Oh well, they say getting old ain't for sissies.

    1. 25th. I don't think I'll make it another ten years. It doesn't hurt my feelings too much. I spawned, and I got to experience doing what I loved, and have a great relationship. Wanting more is just greedy. Between the gross incompitance of the medical industry, the any day now economic implosion and the soaring disease and crime rates to follow, ten years seems too optimistic. I'm still trying to take care of myself, in case I do last, but I don't count on it. So, I guess my shorter timeline makes it seem like I'm older ( screwdrivers that are older-ha! )

Hey, watch out there, I'm burying my untraceable "boom booms" in various politicos' backyards. Their properties aren't on the search list. I don't need you fouling my cache sites. Thx.

  7. Ill tell you , im 38, been reading your blog fer a lond time. I know some older guy, and some younger guys, the ones that id be afraid to go up against are the older ones. I'd have no problems with most folks of any age. But the ones that are over 45 just seem like a tougher breed of folks. Thoses are the ones that i want in my tribe, not just for there experience and knowledge, but they got grit theses kids aint got. Thanks for your time and all the ideals I've gleaned from your writing.

    1. Well, of course you are welcome. It is what I do and I enjoy the hell out of it. I'm surprised to hear you say that, but perhaps it is natural. I'm looking at guys just a few years older than me and saying they are made of much sterner stuff.

  8. To thinking out loud, God might work on a long timeline but with the average age of a minion, time is something most don't have. Just like with the advice to bury a gun and wait it out,Really? Wait what out, your death.GS is right on as far as getting old hurts. I figure when they come to my door for confiscation, I'll either use right then or hand it over,it ain't doing no good in the ground.
