usa #1 part 2 of 3

USA #1 part 2

Frankly, I’m not even sure why I’m writing this series of articles on bugging in to your own country.  Outside of a few ex-military spec-ops who go mercenary, and those foolish enough to believe Social Security will outlive them as they live out some tropical fantasy where Little Brown People wait on them hand and foot ( as if they didn’t already have robot slaves doing the same thing here )( and don’t believe for a second SS is solvent.  We just had Obammy’s UnAffordable Health Care Act jammed up our asses mainly because it was money in the bankers pockets but also as a bonus it was a way to keep Medicare [ or Medicaid, whichever, who cares?] from going bankrupt so quickly.  SS is in just as bad of shape ), only rich humps can even afford to think about moving out of our local craphole into another foreign craphole.  Here we go AGAIN!, the standard Yuppie Scum Guru advice to make a bazillion dollars and buy yourself happiness and security after the Apocalypse.

*

My biggest complaint about standard Rich Humpers Only Need Apply To Survive advice isn’t the gross commercialism or hucksterism, it isn’t the classism or even semi-racism, nor the scary ass religious fervor these people are going to bring along with the shock troops armed with pitchforks and torches.  It is, simply, that the financially well off are only a very tiny minority of survivalists.  The advice is moronic for the majority.  Most of you, simply, are gazing in a dream state at Rawles ( only singled out as he is the current flavor of the month-it had looked as if Creekmore was being groomed by Paladin Press but something most have transpired there to kill that dream ) and the GoldBugs and the Idaho Imitators and the Militia Masturbators and the Pussy Preppers and everyone else recycling the same tired advice that has been around since the first nuclear weapon was acquired by the Soviets and then the First Arab Oil Embargo modernized it with slight tweaking ( it became about more than just nukes, then-people woke to the fact our economy was fragile and a few hearty businessmen like Howard Ruff beat everyone to the bandwagon ).

*

Notice how almost every single article out there, every book and sad Kindle, has an underlying message of spending oodles and gobs of money?  Good gravy, I go to an article titled “the best budget AR-15” at All Outdoors and all through to the end it talks about the best AR by all measurements EXCEPT budget.  You would think there would be a massive demand out there for frugal advice, but of course there isn’t.  The best con in the world is when the rubes never figure out the scam.  So keep dreaming about being rich, instead of recognizing it as the carrot that keeps your ass enslaved and busy at far above your pay grade.  Schmucks ( including myself, who slaves away at this publication, at about a dollar an hour at a hobby masquerading as altruism ).

*

Moving on ( after I’ve already got myself worked up into a lather ) to the third aspect of advising against leaving this sad and pathetic piece of real estate we still laughingly call a Republic or a Democracy, tribalism.  Notice the full blown assault against tribalism ( balancing precariously against saying anything bad about them if their skin takes on a darker hue-being politically correct nowadays is indeed a challenge ) in the media?  Women are oppressed, they are stoned for unmasking their ugly faces, etc.  Never mentioned is the fact that most of these gals prefer the society they have, just like in the US a vocal minority pushing the agenda.  But forget about that-you can see the same silliness just looking into the nearest college campus.  The point is NOT about our oppressed sisters in foreign lands.  I mean, really, who gives a crap?  They are fuzzy foreigners.  The hidden agenda, it seems to me, is to bad mouth tribalism.  Regardless of religion or geological area.  It is central government nation state cheerleading.  Just like when Third Generation Warfare dresses up tribalism as a military innovation.  No, it is about the death of centralization due to resource contraction.  Tribalism, with all its pesky issues, is the wave of our future.  In a resource shrinking environment, decentralization rules.  Tribalism is decentralized government.

*

Leaving this country displaces you from your tribe.  It is hard enough in this country to sort out your enemies from your friends.  Just staying here is dangerous enough as your tribe will remain besieged from all sides, yet when you leave that small comfort zone to go to a foreign land you get ZERO tribal support ( leaving aside certain exceptions such as marrying a foreigner with a “buy in” to that family ).  From very little to none.  How is that an improvement?  If nation states stayed in business, which they can’t, being a foreigner isn’t altogether a bad thing.  In times of devolution it is simply ignorant.  Money can buy you happiness, but only as long as it is worth something.  Once it isn’t it just became a false security blanket.

  1. Tribes Clans and families, It always comes back to tribes clans and families.
Does anyone think for an instant that any of the Bush clan will suffer as the rest of us? The elder Shrubs developed an off grid ranch in texas, far from any population center. The Jr shrub got something similar going in South America.

    1. You can bet that they are Not Equal as expats but have built in expensive protections. The Bush South American mega-ranch will be a nation onto itself. A good bug out location if you can afford it.

    2. bought, probably through corrupt officials, the last huge sweet water underground supply in the world, in paraguay. i know the bushes have american military down there.
it is said the next war will be fought over drinkable water.

  2. Yes !
Exactly why we sold the sail boat and became campers again.
Having viewed the entire Caribbean and around the Texan coast down to Panama. Got to know a lot of ex Pat's. The one common denominator was the US DOLLAR. Once it's gone, the protection factor is gone and all, repeat ALL of the brown and black people absolutely hate Americans.
Nope, we've made our bed, and must just stay at home to sleep in it.
Sooner or later, momma and I will end up back in central Idaho. Where I have family and one third interest in a Huge log cabin that has no mortgage owed. Just a huge tribe of family which will defend upon it once SHTF.
None of which prep...except my mom.
Might be better off here lol

Hey...did it fit ya ? Had to guess and figured you were likely around my size.

    1. [ curious minions-the last question pertains to a gift Spud generously sent me. A sweet thick leather belt with a Bison belt buckle ].
Yes, it fit, with one hole to spare. Any more of NOL's wonderful cooking and I might lose that last one. After that, still room for another hole. But if that happens I'm waddling and due for a stroke!

    2. Ha ha, I figured you were around my size.
Guess maybe slightly larger in the waist, as I had two holes left. All good however ! Just happy to return some goodwill.

  3. Good Morning James,

Thought I'd pitch in my $.02 since I had briefly considered the ex-pat thing, but only out of curiosity - never as a serious, viable lifestyle.

While I may not be the sharpest pencil in the box, it doesn't take a Doctorate in Rocket Science to determine the following regarding the Paradise-That-Exists-Anywhere-But-Here. Also referred to as the "Grass is Greener on the Other Side of the Fence" syndrome:

1.) You will ALWAYS be a minority, and we know how minorities fare.

2.) You don't look or talk like them (no matter how fluent) which automatically tags you as a Green Monkey (look it up).

3.) Because you have (or appear to have) considerable resources (compared to them), if/when the SHTF - you are easily-picked low-hanging fruit and the very first target on everybody's go-to list.

4.) You will have no serious means of defending yourself or family and no place to bug out to except into the arms of their tribe - like sheep stampeding into the jaws of the wolf pack.

These are just the first of many reasons that I determined that the ex-pat routine is a fool's suicide mission with no upside - unless of course, everything stays normal and dandy and just keeps chugging along per yesterday's normal.

That's not a very good wager in my books. I'll stay where I may not survive the long haul, but at least I may not be guaranteed to absolutely be the first flower to get plucked.

    1. How many guys ruined their own lives by searching for that greener grass? Leave the wife for a younger one, or a secure job for a more exciting one, or whatever.

  4. Welp, I was born here and most likely will die here and I gues I'm sort of a patriot at heart. So I'll just try to hide out in plain sight, sort of. We're way back here in the sticks and only venture out into daylight when we must. The wild animals are our tribe and a few other 2 legged varmints called people. Other than that, we is our own country. The rest of the world can go straight to hell if that is their choice and by all indications, that it is.

  5. With regards to expatting James, I'm not so certain that staying here would be any better? While I can't exactly get onboard with some of the stupidity that the modern right espouses, the average American today is mostly a Marxist indoctrinated, left wing collectivist idiot, that will have no problem in feeling entitled to “their share” of your goods when the time comes.

We're talking about a few generations now that have been living in the lap of luxury (Ironically thanks to the group that they hate the most) for far too long, and know nothing of what a hardship entails. Never having to worry about where your next meal is coming from, or if you're going to have a roof over your head the following month, produces bored folks with an entitlement mentality, as well as a lot of time on their hands in which to constantly dream up ways in which some minority, sexual deviant, or female, is perpetually a victim of the establishment. And such folks will not take kindly to that “nasty right winger” that is “selfishly” hoarding all that food to himself.

No, I'm afraid that the only place in America that will be safe from these types is somewhere beyond their ability to slither to when the time comes ( i.e. way out in the middle of no where, where most of us are not going to be when it counts).

TL;DR version: spoiled people living luxurious lives in 1st world countries, and whose day can be ruined by a hangnail, are going to react particularly bad to a collapse, and will happily kill you for your Snickers bar. Not trying to argue that going abroad is the answer, just don't think that staying here will be any better. So unless you're Jeremiah Johnson living at 11000 feet in the Rockies, expect to die regardless if it comes down to a total collapse.

    1. I don't think you necessarily need to be in the Rockies-just not smack dab in the middle of the urban hive. Out a ways, not out in BFE. Work in a smaller city with a country retreat not too far away.

    2. Avoid "conspicuous consumption". Trade vehicle down to older more-utility model, then maintain the heck out of the running parts. Even de-badging a Dodge RAM 3500 truck with a $6000 option Cummins TD engine to display base 1500-series logos, riding on HD steel wheels sporting work-grade tires (not $5000 worth of "rimz" and low-profile "drifting" tires) and no fancy diamond-plate bumpers/steps/truckbox/visible electronics is a good start in lowering your theft/envy profile. Throw some free-pile (filthy-worthless, not biological hazard) trash in the bed to indicate the hauling work this truck does, and don't fix the little scuffs (seal 'em to stop rust, but don't "detail" the vehicle as if it was a show car). Get fast food logo bags from trash at work, stuff with paper and leave them in the cab. Hide the vehicle in a garage, if you can. Don't let the neighbors envy the big money you make or used to make, or the results of good deals you may have gotten. Do your own yard work, including intentional neglect to indicate impending poverty. Whine a little over the fence about hours cut, medical insurance cost increase and ex-wife payments. Pick up some empty packs of cigarettes from the smoking ghetto at work and leave them on your porch. Stop behind a local bar for some empty bottles of large-cheap liquor for your recycle bin (every week). Alcoholic, addicted to tobacco, neglect and broke is not the guy you want to mess with.

  6. (An underlying message of spending oodles and gobs of money)

This is one (of many) of my dislike of TV and radio these days. Every 16 or 17 min they stop everything to pitch mostly garbage at you telling you how much better your life will be with their product.

There is so many things to buy that few people have the money to buy it all. And this is the trap of debt. People feel they must have it all and want it now.

I have a brother that makes at least 4 times what I make. He is in debt big time. He has no cash on hand ever. He has no reserve of cash at all. I make 1/4 what he does, I have hundreds of ounces of silver (in a used safe worth $1400.00 that I bought for $55.00) put up, I have several thousands of US dollars in the safe (Never will I trust a bank again!!!!) I have zero debt.

He is a typical American these days, I'm unusual in that I spend less then I take in, I work mostly only 4-days a week. and I have a much better life then he does as he works 6 or 7 days a week to service the debt he took on. He is a slave.

  7. Jim ex pats are jumping from a burning ship into a sinking one. The term Yankee go home isn't new. I see no scenario where we fall to #28 and the rest of the world stays in place. The best plan is to stay here and mitigate it dragging you down with it. Thus we are back to collapse early and avoid the rush. In my personal life I have done poorly moving up economically . But I have maintained position and seen scores fall below my level by trying to advance for no good reason.

    1. Those scores trying to advance had a good reason-they were jockeying for position in the social positions. They thought it was a good idea.
