HERO OR DUMBASS

I knew there was a reason I hated super hero movies. I mean, I watched Superman when it came out during High School. I wasn't blown away, it was an okay weekend matinee movie. I didn't hate it or even particularly care about it. It just didn't waste my limited spending money ( our town had a huge library, as well as a huge used book store. The used books were usually under a dollar. I always had more books than time. But I had one shot a week at a movie ). But I do NOT like today's drivel.

Of course a lot of it is my age. I never liked comic books ( although Sgt Rock was pretty good ) when I was growing up. Books and my imagination beat comics all to hell. Except Heavy Metal because both better stories, 1%, and boobs, magical boobs, 99% ( mothers teaching their daughters that breasts are of no significance are setting the poor bitch up for failure through life ). I don't go for drawn boobs now, having the real thing. And when VHS tapes came out, how were comics going to compare with unlimited choices in real action movies ( back before that, theater movies delivered more pleasure than buying comics )?

So, I never cared for superhero's. I went through my D&D phase, but burned out on fantasy ( really, just superhero's in Medieval clothing ) completely very soon. You could call survivalism a sort of fantasy, and I'm sure some leftist soy eating goober types have made a case for that, but even if true hoarding guns and gold is no worse than escaping to a world of magic and dragons. Hell, the same college asswhores probably thought we were sacrificing bats to Satan while we were playing at fantasy anyway. They live in their own fantasy world, Commie Cornucopia.

I think what angers me about superheros in entertainment today is that this is about the only crap we get a choice of watching. And, everyone THINKS they are a superhero ( but more on that shortly ). There are a few great movies every year. No one is claiming all movies suck. But how many movies about sacrifice and honor do you see? The newest one that comes to mind is “Brawl In Cellblock 99” ( although, I'm aware I'm forgetting several. Or, I don't recall details enough ). The LibTards can't keep the old school movies from being made, so they remake them into garbage or give them no exposure.

Why did so many people enjoy “Death Wish” when it came out? It wasn't because Charles Bronson was a great actor ( didn't he pretty much play the same guy? ). And it wasn't JUST because when it came out crime was a pretty big deal. Yes, it did cater to wish fulfillment ( middle class fantasy of reversing the decline ). But it was about honor, and the sacrifice that entailed. It wasn't just cheap thrills from vigilantism ( which is what the liberal press pushed ). So of course, they had to remake it with Bruce Willis, who is so past his prime he makes Nicolas Cage look like Al Pacino ( forty years ago ).

What did the remake achieve? It was a tiny jab at the anti-gun crowd ( only by virtue of its timing ). But mostly, it tried to impart a negative response to the original, guilt by association. They did the same with Red Dawn. I tried to watch a YouTube  analysis of the original version. I was rather excited when I found it. But he just kept repeating himself and I stopped about the 25% mark. So, I feel compelled to offer my own analysis ( very short version, as I'm just making points about a completely different subject ).

The movie is a classic, and not because we are harboring some homoerotic fascination with the star ( whose acting was forever soured when ex-wife baby momma had me view “Ghost” far too many times. I'm not sure about Dirty Dancing. If that was also the case, the trauma thankfully erased my memory ). It was about noble sacrifice. The plot was janky, the acting wasn't bad but the characters were not well expanded ( not that it was an issue, being an action film ), a case could be made for melodrama and Cold War propaganda, but none of that matters. Because it was about fighting for classic values. It was antithesis to current culture ( or, at least the direction ).

If you look at Milius' earlier writing in Apocalypse Now, similar themes were present. Red Dawn almost achieved epic status, but it was a much more tight study. Critics of course could never address the underlying values, and focused on the superficial. There were a thousand jabs at it ( “the only Black man in the movie is killed right away” ), because the propagandists could do nothing else as they tried to eliminate the message. Sacrifice matters. But of course, the sacrifice has to mean something. Apocalypse Now asks about the sacrifice, Red Dawn shows the kind of war worth sacrificing yourself in.

And the critics HATE that. All war is the same, bad, because all violence is bad ( how else can Latino's take over the country, if they are violently opposed? How else can females establish a Matriarchy, without emasculating men? ). They cannot fathom, in good times, how previous sacrifice earned them their luxury and decadence ( the LibTards are doing nothing new, the same disdain for martial values in all decaying empires at the end ). They think a grocery clerk is noble, dare they say heroic or even, their thighs quiver at the thought, a superhero?

Grocery clerk would never think dying for your country is a good thing. Staying alive, in service, THAT is good. And he serves, heroically, by braving Black Death Corona! He is our selfless public servant, braving death to bag grandma's carton of eggs and jug of orange juice. Just as nurses, staffing an empty hospital ( no non-essential diseases allowed! ) are SUUUPERRRR! Let us all fall to our unemployed knees and chant, we're not worthy! Good Baby Jesus Himself, Christ on a humping cracker! They open their mouths and so much craps rolls out, you can't stay afloat. I'll continue this feces festival tomorrow.
