WAGE & PRICE CONTROL 3
Before we start today, I don’t
necessarily believe we are going to see a “continuing slow collapse”, or “long
emergency”. I think that is too much to
hope for. However. We are, mostly, all a lot older than when I
started writing. My convictions have not
changed. If anything, they are bolstered
by events and continued research. Yes, I’m
convinced we will see a 99.something percent die-off and a centuries long dark
age. I will wager a jelly filled donut
on it ( although, to be fair, I’ll be dead by then if my timing is off, so good
luck collecting ).
*
But since we are at a minimum twenty
years older, a lot of us are going to be nearing natural old age demise. My grandfather died in his mid fifties and my
dad, without a sweet medical plan, would have died from his heart attack in his
early sixties. I’ll bet he wishes he
had, having to live with my stepmom J I don’t expect to live much past early to upper mid sixties. You shouldn’t expect to live forever, either.
To us, the reality might just be a long
emergency rather than a die-off.
*
Once I had more mental energy to
explore more survival topics, I’ve been trying to add on more “short term
prepping” articles to go along with the always popular End Of Western Civilization
ones. We will see The End, My Beautiful
Friend. You all can ignore my dawg
Malthus as much as your pea picking hearts desire, but in the end he will piss
on your graves. Civilizations are
surplus, and surplus is overpopulation and too many people cannot live when the
food runs out. ‘Murican innovation
cannot invent more energy. Our Big Save
the last time the economy tanked?
*
We “reinvented” ethanol, a fuel Ford
at first assumed his farmer customers would use, a hundred years ago. And we pushed a “new and innovative” seventy
year old fracking technology ( fracking is even older than that click
here, but the “modern” technique pre-dated the Korean War ). The only thing we do is add new hype to old
tech and vigorously wave a flag over the unveiling ceremony. There is absolutely zero ways out of this
mess. We will implode, hard. But since timing is always suspect, we must
plan not just for that but the journey up to that.
*
As wages measured in purchasing power
contract, you will have no choice but to spend less. As prices increase, even WITH the current
price controls, you’ll have no choice but to buy less. That is already the reality for the last ten
years and nothing new or exciting. What
you need to get ready for is the current rationing system failing and for
shortages to become permanent. You were
seeing retail shortages long before the stores started closing, and turned in
desperation to Amazon. Newsflash, Amazon
won’t last too much longer.
*
Shipping by water is the most energy efficient
method of transportation. Rail
follows. Way at the bottom is road
transport. But what is not a terrible
way of transporting, a semi-truck full of goods, becomes a Gawd Awful most inefficient
means when each package is mailed individually.
Amazon in effect built its current empire on the desperation of UPS,
FedEx and the Post Office to stay in business, and give it outright or partial
subsidized shipping ( the Post Office carriers must even prioritize boxes over
first class mail, and they lose money on packages ). They have a built in customer base from the
failures of retail.
*
How much longer can either dynamic
remain, under energy shortages, bankruptcies, stock market collapses and
skyrocketing purchasing power destruction?
What you have to do rather than substitute where you shop is learning
how NOT to shop. Not as in a minimalist
lifestyle, but as in quickly stockpiling for the rest of your life in
anticipation of the consumer society completely failing. That includes consumption such as
transportation fuel and utilities. Mind
you, this is NOT after the collapse.
This is what will currently happen, while the current power structure
remains in place.
*
You’ve certainly heard stories of
Flint Michigan and their toxic water, or the Georgia ( ? ) city where the
combined water and sewer bill is $300.
Even if these Rationed By Other Means utilities are offering their
services, are they really an item you want to consume? This is what I’m talking about with
failures. Not the actual absence of the
utility but the need to avoid using it for whatever reason. We all know we are a dumbass if we don’t have
solar panels for the aging power grid going to mostly permanent Brown Out
Mode.
*
We know it is silly to rely on the
power company in winter weather, and have insulated and turned to wood. These are Survival 101. But do you have plans for permanent replacements,
beyond just a single storm creating outages.
Through wages, prices or rationing, the day will come when the
substitution becomes the New Normal. You
need to be ready for that, now. That has
to be part of your preps. You already
have enough guns and ammo to be your own army and police force. Now concentrate on being you own FOREVER
utilities. And that includes food supply.
*
I know you spoiled bastards will
fight until red in tooth and claw giving up your motor vehicles for
bicycles. I hope you are not in such
denial you won’t even get one now to at least practice on. Good news, though. Without a job, money for shopping and the
soon to explode crime rate, you won’t need to use that bike much anyway. But you will think using a bike instead of a
car is easy peasy, compared to your forthcoming diet. You all squeal like prison bitches about
storage grain. Better get used to it.
*
What else do you think is going to
provide the bulk of your calories three years into unemployment and disrupted
supply chains? If you are planning for
short term emergencies, you really have no business being here ( please conduct
a large Amazon purchase through my links before you go, that’s a good boy
). There is no more returning to
normal. This is all a one way ride,
downward. To future function, you must
start embracing things you’d prefer not to.
Like peasant transportation, peasant levels of heat in the winter ( no
more using burst pipes as an excuse ), and peasant food.
*
Grain is all you will be eating,
during the dark ages. Don’t be silly,
ignoring the longevity of the collapse.
Few of you can stock enough freeze dried for the rest of your life. During the severe contraction phase, you’ll
need to start eating a lot more grain.
Yes, most of us can raise chickens and grow potatoes ( even if only in
raised tires ). No, most of us cannot
provide enough calories doing so. In the
area most of us have to work with, we can only grow NUTRIENTS. For calories, enough of them, store grain.
*
No one wants to JUST eat grain. I love wheat, eat it every day, stock the
crap out of it, insist you do the same, and even I don’t want to eat nothing
but wheat. But desire has nothing to do
with NEED. You need calories. Food first.
Only in First World Problems country does want and taste trump
calories. Does it concern any of you
about the natural disasters in the mid west?
Not to start Fear Porn’ing here, but what if this time there were actual
shortages resulting from the event? But
you didn’t buy because, “yucky diet”.
*
Few of you think you have enough
ammo, but, hello! Food. You’ll eat more than fight and you’ll need
storage food PRIOR to the collapse, as ALL aspects of our society go Full
Retard. You can’t always say, “they won’t
allow shortages because Diversity riots”.
One day, they won’t have a choice but to “allow” them. Allow, as in, no choice because the supply or
the fuel simply isn’t available. Okay, I’m
done for today on this subject. You get
it, or you don’t.

ReplyDeleteThe hilarious Dmitry Orlov interview at Unz linked from WesternRifleShooters explains this perfectly... and with a strong sense of humor throughout.
http://www.unz.com/tsaker/the-saker-interviews-dmitry-orlov/
Proving, once again, intelligent people learn to laugh early, and rarely get tangled in 'the little local drama'.
Are we talking about the same one? Mostly focused on the Ukraine? By funny, do you mean the part where the US has already lost empire but is waiting for an obvious clue such as the coming economic collapse? I'd agree, if we are talking about the same hing.
DeleteI really enjoyed that article & got a lot out of it.
DeleteNuthing but grain ? But I thought I was gonna eat 'Long Pig'? I've got a large stock of bar-b-que sauce and chianti (as per Hannibal Lector) :^)
ReplyDeleteJust morbid humor sir, my daily heart meds will likely mean I will have a short Life after things go south, whereby I then stroke out with thickened blood. I hopes I gets to go out with my boots on !!
Just take some of the bastards with you, as a service to your species. I grant you dispensation and you may own an AR-15 without my mockery, in order to fulfill said mission.
DeleteLord Bison raining down the fire and brimstone these last couple days! Jim, your writing lately (and the current BBB of yours Im reading, cant recall which # off hand) finally got me off my ass to get a Corona grain mill. Just picked up a couple pounds of wheat berries to try my hand at it and see what I can do with the processed product before I grab the bulk buckets. Thanks for the tough love Sir!!
ReplyDeleteExcellent! Another sinner saved. Don't forget, you need to grind three times-course, medium and then fine ( plates almost but not quite touching ). Even then, just a course flour. If you want finer, you can use white instead of red wheat-but it is just a smidge less course.
DeleteCoarse is good for the feces canal.
ReplyDelete2:48
So, add partially digested corn kernels?
DeleteJust keep it coarse.
DeleteCancer is more likely than a bullet.

The health industry will kill you before the cancer does.
DeleteWhat health industry? lol

Funny (Well, I suppose it isn’t funny if you’re one of those sickly bastards that has to rely on the modern medical industry in order to stay alive :D ) but I saw something on this just the other day. A pediatrician posted this below:
Delete"Always get it in writing
Babydoc observes that the diversity dumbing-down rot is now infecting medicine:
I was just informed today that it didn't matter that my medical decision on a particular issue was correct, because "the reality is the perception of the nursing staff" who were upset because I made them feel stupid by showing them the correct answer.
Babydoc should be sure to ask for instructions for how to behave in the event of similar future conflicts in writing. A medical institution that is literally on the record stating that the feelings of the nursing staff are to be prioritized over the medical treatment of the patient is a massive malpractice suit in the making.
And if you're not terrified by these developments, you should be. Iatrogenic deaths are going to absolutely skyrocket now that diversity has invaded the medical sector."

Be your own doctor. You'll have better success, and be right more often. Bridges and patients be damned, Bitches Power!
DeleteKnocked it out of the park again with this series.
ReplyDeleteFor those of us with the typical inflammatory response to grains, could I sprout almonds and walnuts, then remove the skins, then grind them into flour using a hand-mill as you suggest?
ReplyDeleteWe baked pizza yesterday using blanched almond-walnut flour and cashew cheese. We offered the option of toppings including a nice dry-sour salami and bacon from a feral hog we whacked in the coast range.
Around here, herbs are 'pick-yours' from the greenhouses.
For those with the typical inflammatory response to tomatoes (and other nightshades), our 'marinara' is cauliflower with beets with seasonings in the food processor.
With summer temperatures approaching, we'll shift our cooking to the porch kitchen. Today in Eugene Oregon was a sweltering 75F; I nearly got the vapors.
Not to be a dingus, but whenever someone tells me about food allergies to grains, I can't help but have that line go through my head. "No, Mr. Bond, I expect you to die". My only thought is, they better be in a position to ranch or hunt ( or far enough away to grow those replacement calories safely ), because grains are the only way for a po boy to survive long term. Granted, you get old enough, that doesn't matter as much any more. Or, you could just be not as poor.
DeleteEat the veggies raw if your serious about nutrition.
Delete2:48
Mom turned me off cooked veggies forever. Only later after reading about the Ornamentals growing with nightsoil did I figure out why anyone would want to cook those rabbit foods. Sure, you have to cook taters, but calling them a veggie is an insult. Called a tomato a fruit is, also.
