wheat "only" 1 of 3

WHEAT “ONLY”

I find myself defending my views far too often, which might seem like a pain in the ass but really is good filler on a slow prepper news day ( until we are actually seeing rioting in the streets, perhaps even “mad coupling on the sidewalk as in the movie Miracle Mile as the citizenry becomes aware the nukes are about to hit”, every day is a slow collapse news day because all the old Panic Now indicators have already happened and only divine intervention seems to keep the ass from falling out of civilization-nothing short of the first two actions seems to stir us ).  I’ve seemingly covered all there is to cover for Trailer Trash Irregulars, and so while I attempt to keep it fresh, a lot of it is rinse and repeat instructions.  It helps me with the writing, it helps the new schmucks who are as yet unaware they shall soon be running away from this blog with unseemly haste, and it helps the regular minions as a gentle reminder why I am always right and the rest of the population on this planet are both unblessed by Baby Jesus and always struggling to have as nice of hair as I do.  Whenever I push wheat above all else for a cheap near ideal food storage, I know what a lot of you are thinking.  “Taste fatigue” and “I’m going to die a horrible elongated death from malnutrition from ONLY eating wheat“.  Of course, you are assuming I am full of crap, which is really just an excuse to ignore me so you can ignore all my pearls of wisdom such as NOT buying a semi-auto carbine.

*

Just to spite me, so you can have an AK-47, live in the suburbs and still own a car and trophy wife, you ignore my screeching about buying wheat now, or better yet yesterday, and buying the crap out of it because the low, low prices from America’s heartland are going to end about like they did for rimfire ammunition ( which I’ve been hollering about for over three years or so and everyone is running out of excuses and one day will be forced into admitting I was right about copper depletion [ then, I’ll still be fighting everyone to acknowledge silver depletion, etc. ]).  So, let me once again sum up my wheat stash strategy by given you an easy to remember nugget:

*

WITHOUT CALORIES YOU DIE.  WITHOUT NUTRIANTS YOU DIE SLOWER.

*

Easy enough, yes?  First and foremost above anything else, you need calories.  Calorie deficit plus nutrient loss is relatively quick death by disease as your body can’t fight bugs, heat itself or run itself.  Nutrient loss alone, without calorie loss, kills you a lot slower.  Look at how long Americans last on extra calories containing zero nutrients.  LOOOOOOK!!!!  Now, you can’t just suckle at the sweet teet, eating nothing but candy bars and soda and expect to live to eighty.  When I speak of zero nutrients I speak of relative loss.  Vegetables grown in denuded soil have some nutrients, if only a few percent of those grown in much healthier soil.  It is still better for you than sipping from a can of corn syrup.

  1. I second what James is saying. I remember back to the pre-Y2K days, when a fellow prepper in my town had a pallet of wheat in a storage unit ready to go and I had rice. I had thought about wheat, but it was too difficult to procure and needed a grain mill of some kind to grind it. Rice just cooks up with some water. What a GENIUS I was, right? Well DUH! As pointed out in previous posts or eBooks, rice doesn't have much nutritional value. I thought just because several Billion folks on this planet ate it everyday, that it was good stuff. I do like the taste, but those several Billion add stuff to it, like Chicken Tikka Masala, General Tso Chicken or Beef Bulgogi in order to get nutrients. Wheat on the other hand can go all by itself in a pinch. Add some oil yeast and salt and let it set. You have bread. So get wheat and lots of it.

I'll shut up now cause I don't want to steal any thunder.

    1. You can't steal my thunder, I'll just babble longer and louder. Rice has its place. I just hate it myself. I crave wheat, never rice. It might be an ancestor thing, almost genetic, to crave the foods great great great granddaddy ate. I know fetus' food is the post natal preference. I've wondered if that can be spread down through the ages.

  2. On subject comment: wheat can be sprouted for better nutritional value . 20 $ in seeds adds a variety of greens and root s. Jim you got to read the arch droids post today he is on fire and spot on.

    1. I always read the Druid on Thursday mornings. He posts too late on Wednesdays for me, being on West Coast Pukes Time. Another plus on sprouting is a lot of gluten intolerant folks can then eat wheat.

  3. It really is just a numbers game. No more, no less.

Get the basics - wheat, beans, oatmeal, pasta, sugar, salt, lard and some oil - and stock it deep.

This stuff is relatively cheap. One month of your cable bill will buy over a month of calories. Pretty easy.

    1. Cable blows chunks. Plenty of commercials and nothing ever on. Netflix and every weekend RedBox DVD rentals, $20 a month. And those months you skip the DVDs you can buy an extra bag of wheat.

  4. Oh Great Oracle of Elko, Prophet of Doom, Purveyor of Despair, Whose Crown is the Hair of the Gods! is that enough or should I go on? Have you ever given us poor minions your wisdom about vitamin supplements? A thousand pardons if you have and I somehow missed it. Since food grown in this country is crap and organic food is only for the Birkenstock wearing, armpit and leg hair fem nazis and dick slurping broke back boys what do you suggest for us minions suffering from vitamin deficiencies..horde for future lack luster hair and brittle nails? your humble servant, the rat

    1. Well, as much as I'd like you to go on, just praising the hair is sufficient. I especially liked "purveyor of despair". I did just do this article:

but it was for stocking multi's cheap. As far as getting vitamins now, I can't speak for all other folks, those with major medical issues, but I still think the basics will work. A daily multi, mega-vit C, sprout drink ( if you can't stand their taste, liquefy sprouts in the blender in a fruit juice ), whole grains and as little processed crap as you can do. To get into better health, much more is needed. But to maintain health, that should be sufficient.

    1. There was an article, I believe in Mother Earth, stating gluten intolerance is really GMO intolerance. I don't know if I agree, but it might be something to research.

    2. I know a family that cannot not handle wheat at all - no bread, pasta, flour, etc. - unless it's heritage wheat that a neighbor grows.

Genetically, modern wheat and ancient wheat are very different.

    3. Not just GMO intolerance, but GMO crops FILLED WITH GLYPHOSATES (Roundup and chemically-identical generics). Glyphosate is a deadly long-term poison, and they use it on wheat crops right before harvest. More and more is used every year as weeds (unwanted not-mono-crop) get used to the previous dose. Pre-1970 USA Wheat is really-good stuff.
