clinton election emergency plan

THE HILARY CLINTON ELECTION EMERGENCY IMMEDIATELY AFFORDABLE SURVIVAL KIT PLAN

Okay, so Hilary didn’t win.  I was all prepped to write this article on November 9th and post it the following Monday.  You had from until then to inauguration day to follow the plan.  Actually, you might not even have had that much time as who knows what could have happened in the interim.  We know the One World Government/Politically Correct/Social Marxists would have been joyously happy as it was little secret that Soros was a big contributor to Team Clinton.  It would have been Obammy Business as Usual, with first class tickets for radical Muslims to a nice and free Section Eight apartment in a town close to you and everyone else ( no, I do NOT buy into the cover story the FedGov used as anal lubricant for patriots that the evil boxcutting Muslim dudes hated us for our liberty and so we needed to surrender it to the NSA and TSA for safe keeping.  That doesn’t negate the religious war between white boys and towel heads, nor invalidate Muslim takeover by birthrates, or mean that it is a brilliant idea to immigrate their asses over to our WASP/HIC [ White Anglo Saxon Protestant, giving way to Hispanic Immigrant Catholics ] communities, either ).

*

But that would have been the least of it.  Other actors could easily have panicked PRIOR to the end of January.  Putin is not an idiot, and while he wouldn’t have done something as silly as preemptively nuking us, that being a great way to get a glassed over crater where Moscow used to be, he certainly would have perhaps thought that he needed to do something prior to the crazy bitch getting her own launch codes.  I would imagine most of you can agree that more likely than not, foreign powers without our best interests in mind ( which is pretty much everyone, except perhaps Canada, and if I were them I’d wait until we were down and out and kick our ass in retaliation for all the times we invaded them ) have the capability of doing great harm to us without directly assaulting us.  Hacking our entire electrical grid comes to mind.  Honestly I can’t imagine why it hasn’t already been done except for the fact that although we are a danger to ourselves and others, we still, marginally, protect world trade routes which is a free rider for other economies.  But if Putin, who obviously knows more than I do about the true health of Hilary ( just what You-Tube showed was scary enough, leading to such amusing antics of me putting her herky-jerky movements to song-Do The Epi!-and others commenting that one public appearance was uneventful enough that she must have “had a heroin suppository” ) was concerned enough to do something, anything, it could have been at any time prior to her royal-ness being crowned.

*

I wasn’t necessarily worried about the economy.  Oh, This Suckers Going Down!, for sure, but since markets are rigged and have been since The Gipper formed the Plunge Protection Team ( actually, I think that was all Bush as by this time Ron was probably as loopy as Nancy with her astrologist.   I wonder if that was what got Bush pre-elected by our Masters ), and just gotten much worse since the Housing Bubble bursting, I wasn’t worried about those already in power pulling the plug themselves ( one imagines that, baring asteroid impacts or such, our economy will limp along as long as the Petro-Dollar is still accepted by enough countries.  That means the paper wealth won’t fail until that time.  Course, don’t try to time that one!  My best guess is, as already stated, Deutsch Bank implodes and the dollar follows-and that can happen in hours, not months or years ).  I don’t believe that “foreign investors panicking” has any effect on a rigged game.  Foreign governments of course are a different story.

*

Would that have had an impact from the election?  It is hard to say, as on the surface all the Powers That Be had stayed in place.  I can only imagine that behind the scenes factions of the PTB were silently battling for supremacy ( and we know this to be probable, else how to explain Trump ever becoming a contender? ).  Perhaps that conflict might have had an economic impact ( as in, one group controlling enough finances to throw a monkey wrench in propping up the German bank, or something similar.  It sounds a bit overly paranoid, but remember that one tenth of one percent control 90% of all assets [ a home is a consumer item-property tax means you never own it and you can’t earn money from it, it only costs more all the time, just as a boat or similar ] and while the pie has shrunk alarmingly, that is still a lot of wealth to be fighting over ).  If Clinton had won, would the market have still crashed, by design at least?  Impossible to tell, as so little is ever revealed to even the most resourceful public.  All we can do is guess.

*

So, are we in the clear?  Putin is happy, the Central Bank is happy.  Clinton is sad, but, hey, hump her.  What has that twat ever done for me, except ban cheap SKS carbines from importation?  Are the Commies able to strike back?  How?  They were probably never a power base, just a puppet used by the rich fascists to divide and conquer.  I would guess that the price of keeping Clinton away from the Instant Death Red Button has to throw those limp wrist fag boys under the bus.  They will probably hibernate until needed.  Another power faction?  It seems to me that Reagan/Bush power bases are the default setting for our elites.  They throw in alternating eight year blocks of socialists to keep everyone’s minds off the right wingers damage to society.  It is back to Full Speed Ahead Impoverishing The Peasants, what all the elites prefer regardless of cabal, without time draining demands to pretend to care about helping minorities or banning impotent plastic carbines or whatnot.  And, what was the Clinton Plan?  I don’t know.  I never had anything past the title.  I was confident that blind panic would have motivated me in my writing.  Just stick with the default plan which has always been:

Panic early, be prepped yesterday, store a LOT of Better Than Nothing first, and only then if time permits should you buy any luxury items.

don't JFK me, bro!

DON’T JFK ME, BRO!

The only explanation for the assassination of JFK that ever made any sense to me was that the Federal Reserve Bank ( a private, not public, entity, that has a monopoly on money creation granted by the federal government.  Its bigger members include the Rothschild’s, Rockefellers, Morgan’s and such.  Its direct influence was the Bank Of England.  Private owned government granted monopoly banks are the best ways to finance empires-best, in that they last longest before imploding-and both the government and the financial elites prosper under this arrangement.  The public, as usual, gets a few trickle down rewards ) was behind it after the President started making noise about rescinding some of its powers.  The military-industrial complex push back as popularized by Oliver Stone’s movie was, to me, laughable ( Stone’s political statements tend to indoctrinate us into the inevitability of Big Brother-it was a darn fine movie in and of itself, but the premise behind it was as flawed as could be ).  Mafia hits and Cuban revolutionary involvement, as far as being the primary drivers behind the assassination, also seem highly improbable ( they were, at most, bit players.  At the least, patsies ).  I could of course be completely wrong, but then, everyone else NOT a top planner of that event can also be.

*

Of course, you might have noticed that NOBODY since JFK has EVER seriously threatened the Federal Reserve.  They barely make any noise about it at all.  They blame themselves or Big Corporations, but nobody ever points at the central bank.  My belief is that once Kennedy got a high impact lead argument that his ways were in error, everybody that is anybody got the message loud and clear.  “Don’t JFK me, Bro! I’ll be good and accept your wisdom and guidance!”.  Good politician/media head/reporter/anyone of the Pretty People Class allowed to have an opinion spread.  Now, I don’t know dingus about Donald Trump other than he has a whiff of “legal but immoral” businessman about him.  I think I know he is rich enough to be part of the 1%, which is why I never got too excited about him winning ( except for his primary mission, which was “anybody but Hilary” ).  The rich don’t share.  Anyone that ever trick or treated at Halloween as a child in the posh neighborhood knows this, and anyone that has ever worked for anyone else and examined their less than cost of living paycheck certainly should.  So, all those campaign promises you think you can count on?  Good luck with that.

*

If the Mexican Wall is never built, and I doubt if it happens just because our idea of “rebuilding our rail stock” involves only ONE line, ONLY replacing the worst ties, and that is ONLY part of the way.  Can we even build a real wall, enough to make a difference?  But if he keeps out the Muslims, I’ll consider it an unexpected but appreciated bonus.  And why would he truly repeal ObammyCare?  That is lots of extra money for his butt pirate buddies the big banks.  What was it?  ONE day after the election he says he wants a former JP Morgan banker or a Goldman Saks one, for Secretary of Treasury.  And isn’t his Attorney General going to be a New York anti-gun prick?  Don’t wait for that one-get your reloading supplies now.  The only thing The Donald did right, as far as bucking Business As Usual, was playing nice with the Russians.  So, obviously, he isn’t stupid.  He informed the Federal Reserve, publicly, that he is a team player in the Central Bank Controlled Economy Game.  And he defused a nuclear war with Putin.  For that, if he does nothing else, we should at least extend out gratitude.  Because you know what?  I think that is the only good thing we can realistically expect.

*

This article title could easily have been “the collapse is still on track as scheduled”.  If Hilary had won, I would have been writing an article on how we had better take evasive action immediately, because she would have bolted a booster rocket on to the Titanic as it sped towards the iceberg.  That bitch was certifiable.  Before, when she ran, it was just socialism and Girl Power/PC Rules we had to concern ourselves with.  This time, with her health issues, she was insane enough-and I mean literally-to push us to the brink of nuclear conflict.  And yet, even so, only half of all eligible voters bothered showing up at the polls.  I was NOT one of them.  My not voting is my vote.  I vote for “none of the above”, until the time my vote actually matters again.  I’m not a big fan of democracy, but I’m even less of a fan of fascism.  I will not voluntarily consent to the system that impoverishes me before they send me to the ovens.

*

So, to be clear, what you voted for was “business as usual” which at this point means “collapse on schedule”.  If you had voted for Hilary ( and if you did, I can’t imagine how you ever came to be a reader of my work ), you voted for “immediate collapse”.  Still think voting mattered?  You may THINK that buying a little time is noble, yet what it boils down to is just making the collapse that much worse when it does occur ( you know, as in less resources, more people, and more system degradation for every day that goes by ).  I’m certainly not saying that voting for Hilary was a good idea, only that you were just picking your poison.

*

Why did I post this article, if I believe voting doesn’t mean a drop of piss from a 90 year olds swollen prostate in a hurricane?  I’m getting irritated at the irrational exuberance being displayed over most of the web sites I frequent.  Talk about chugging from the Big Gulp of grape Kool Aid!  They think that, one, they saved the republic with their vote and that, two, their guns are safe now?  If so, fine and dandy.  But I’m officially warning you that your optimism will be rewarded in a way you may not approve of.

allowing the collapse 2 of 2

THE INEVITABILITY OF ALLOWING THE COLLAPSE TO PRECEDE 2

Greed certainly plays a part in our infrastructure collapse.  When CEO’s get $300 million a year and workers are undocumented getting a fifty cent raise from minimum if they work twice as hard, whose supervisor is getting half the pay that a starting Union grunt worker once did,  and that is after thirty percent of the total workforce has already been laid off, you can’t exactly sell the BS that the free market determines fair and just wages nor can you claim that management aren’t a bunch of greedy whores.  Neither is government intervention, oversight or regulation always the answer. It can be, except that in practice in our system the corporations hijack those safeguards for their own end.  But greed and government incompetence are Sideshow Bob ( Simpson’s reference ) distractions that merely cloud the issue.  If everyone needs infrastructure, from cubical drones shuffling paperwork to government bureaucrats collecting taxes for their use which pays his salary, to corporations getting a free ride on protection and taxes, than how does it benefit any of them from allowing its demise?

*

And if it can’t benefit anyone except a few instances of Mafia owned sub-par material user companies throwing up a patch or replacement that won’t last long at all, why is it happening?  If you believe “official” studies, upgrading our entire countries infrastructure could have been done with little more than what the two sandbox wars just cost us.  War is a one off profit center and only benefit’s a small segment of our rulers.  So what is stopping us?  Falling bridges, a shrinking navy that can’t even protect us against Somalia pirates, a power grid that is practically wide open to hack attack, a shrinking nuclear deterrence, leaking water mains that create sinkholes that collapse roads.  Who wants that?  Nobody.  And don’t you dare say “One World Government wants to impoverish us to defeat us and….blah, blah”.  More misdirection and wishful thinking.  If it was an evil banker cabal we could educate and eradicate.  But it is a force far more evil, our oft repeated predicament of falling energy supply.  Not just in unavailability of iron ore, cement and other actual materials, but also the financial means.

*

You might not have noticed, but Japan underwent a massive cementing over of most of their countryside in a make work effort to reinvigorate their economy.  We did the same overbuilding McMansion suburbs fro 2000-2007.  China has, literally, built an entire continent full of new cities in their frenzied effort at doing whatever it is inscrutable ChiComs do to take over the world ( their efforts will meet with the same success as Japan’s in the 1980’s, but in the meantime their antics make good kabuki theatre, part of our distracting bread and circuses ).  There are still materials out there despite most commodities having already peaked globally ( of course, one might make the case that it is probably lesser quality than previously-such as Chinese skyscrapers made from girders that used to be auto bodies from US wrecking yards ).  I would argue that the primary reason our infrastructure is being allowed to collapse is finances.  Not political will or material availability.  Simply, all those Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy reports  that all the media and government feed us is complete propaganda.  The proof is in the pudding.

*

If infrastructure is critical ( remember my telling you how bombed Nazi cities were rebuilt in wartime faster and better than New Orleans has been? ), and we are letting it collapse, we must be having no other choice.  It isn’t Peak Oil, as we are still in control of 25% of global production which we pay for in large part through printing debt.  It isn’t even really EROI vastly shrinking all REAL oil production down to near 1930 levels ( which is the date that the cynics call the start of the Oil Century, and as the title suggests 2030 is when oil production is close the level it started at signally an end to a viable source of energy ) although that certainly is a major factor.  If we had the economic means to outbid the materials from China we could have done so and redone an FDR style public works program to boost the economy past the housing crash.

*

If we had the economic means we could have done a Vietnam style mass invasion of the middle east.  If we had the economic means we could have done a real banker bailout ( rather than just allowing bookkeeping entries to be changed or ignored ).  If we had a strong economy we could have replaced the shuttle program with a real space program.  Our economy might look pretty and shiny but it is just a very thin layer of glittery sprinkles covering a rancid turd.  Note that I’m NOT saying our economy is going to crash any day know.  Yes, with the imminent derivatives implosion it most certainly will.  But my point is that our economy is much worse than any of us have been told or can figure out and has been for some time and it will take very little effort to tank that SOB.  A real economy doesn’t just permanently leave half a city in piles of rubble, even if it is a Black one.  A real economy isn’t outshone by the Nazi’s.  A real economy doesn’t leave tens of millions in a desert without water, abandoned to shrinking wells, unable to move for lack of jobs elsewhere.  We all know “This Suckers Going Down”, but you had better realize it isn’t contracting on your leisurely schedule ( as dictated by the Yuppie Scum Survivalist attitude of requiring decades of prepping to buy your hundreds of thousands of dollars of crap ).

allowing the collapse 1 of 2

THE INEVITABILITY OF ALLOWING THE COLLAPSE TO PRECEDE

Reading someone or other yesterday I came across a single, sarcastic throw-away line having to do with the entire electrical industry allowing the inevitable collapse through deferred maintenance.  These comments always tend to elude to the gross inexcusable greed of businessmen and almost suggest that better leadership and just a smidge more money would solve this problem lickity split with little fuss or muss.  Of course, this explanation ( or, suggested explanation as little is blatantly explained ) leaves a bit a be desired.  Granted, the whole thing could have been mere sarcasm with little intended meaning other than cynicism or even humor.  But I can’t just leave things be, when I can take a simple occurrence and blow it all out of proportion.  Therefore, we shall discuss all that is wrong with both capitalist and fascist viewpoints and then precede to dissect the inevitability of allowing the collapse to precede.  And not only is there no choice but to allow infrastructure to degrade, it is of course picking up speed, AND has plenty of company.

*

I used to be a capitalist shrill.  Our economic system could do no wrong.  I studied economics extensively in the ’80’s and in the ’90’s had little reason to doubt my Austrian Economics worldview.  I distinctly remember ( amidst a time I’ve blocked out most memories due both to years long sleep deprivation, the trauma of losing my children and from being flung into the working poor pool from the relatively lofty heights of middle class ) my monthly extravagance of getting a copy of Forbes magazine ( Fortune was too generic for me-and the last time I could barely afford a subscription to The Economist was nearly ten years prior ) and sitting in a coffee shop reading it and eating the midnight special price breakfast ( eating, with tip, and the magazine all under $7 if I recall correctly ).  I had just walked to the brand new Wal-Mart Super-Center to buy my $10 worth of weekly groceries.  What a great time to be poor!  Sure, I was in the process of divorcing, most of my $25k a year job ( this was early ‘90’s, and a very decent wage ) going to support the soon to be ex living elsewhere with the kids, with only a few hundred a month for my own budget, but everything was so affordable.  I did like most undereducated folks do and attributed it to our political/economic system rather than our control of the energy supply.

*

And once I discovered the role in surplus energy in an economy, I sure as heck wasn’t all that in love with capitalism any more.  Granted, you can live under worse and I’m well aware of that.  But after Enron and the Tech Wreck and American gun companies pushing for weapons bans to sell their own low quality crap at higher prices, plus much more, I still accept our system as better than some but I’m no longer a blind follower as I was twenty years ago.  I grudgingly accept the illusion of a free market knowing full well our system is fascist as big corporations are playing footsy with government for the mutual benefit of both.  So I tend to look at both views, wanting capitalism to work but knowing our current practicing one is deeply flawed.  What I’m getting at is that I look a little deeper than just “free market” greed at fault, or for that matter falling for the myth that less government is only good.  I can see both sides, both for more and for less intervention.  Actually what we have is the worst of both worlds, just like in medicine.

*

In health care, you can do almost as well with 100% public funded health care or with 100% fully free market health care.  With a public system, you have almost no cost doctor education so salaries can reflect that and close to no cost drugs ( public university sourced ).  With a free market system you can get costs lowered with competition and no regulation.  So what does America do?  The inefficiency of government regulation with the high cost of monopoly education and a crippling tort disincentive.  We didn’t stick to the relative low cost on either end but met in the middle with no benefit to any except those that have gamed the system.  Part of the Casino Economy which has distorted so much of our economy to benefit the bankers and their whores.  Our whole system is comprised of no competition due to government regulation which cripples small business ( the exact entity you need to stay competitive ).

*

So, when it is artfully suggested that greed is at the heart of infrastructure neglect, I have a hard time believing that.  Yes, corporates are insanely greedy bastards.  The CEO gets a $100 million bonus for laying off 25% of the workforce, for instance, or banks too big to fail pay their workers millions in bonuses taken from government bailout money.  But almost all of our infrastructure in this country isn’t even private corporations given a monopoly like the electrical grid.  Most are straight up government owned ( roads and bridges and sewers and water ).  And ALL our infrastructure is falling, not just the electric grid ( although, yes, greed does make things worse and they should be the first to fail due to both that and the higher danger from hacking into the control system ).  Greed never helps, certainly.  Government inefficiency and stupidity ( although that is just as relevant with private companies ) doesn’t help.  There is even public servant greed but is no where near the unbridled avarice of the private leaders.

*

But who wants the very structure that makes them money to fail?  Both government job security and private company profits derive from using infrastructure ( as we’ve talked about before, most private companies believe in freebies from the government to increase their profits.  The Navy protecting Exxon-Mobil’s oil shipping routes, free land and funding for the railroads, free college to educate the workforce, etc. ).  Why “allow” that to fail?  It makes little sense that this would be voluntary.  More tomorrow.

light infantry

LIGHT INFANTRY

The basic historical data for this article was taken from the booklet “4th Generation Warfare Handbook” by William Lind and Gregory Thiele.  It certainly wasn’t a bad book ( a big part of its purpose seems to be in trying to teach today‘s conventional armies to get their head out of their 2GW asses but I would wager on a return of our civil rights before that ever happens to the US Army ), but handicapped as an essay trying to be a real book ( a bit too fluffy and on the pricey side for what it is, but not a disappointment in content like much larger and cheaper books have proven to be ).  Still, authors of note must be supported (   I also bought his big novel on 4GW written under an assumed name of Thomas Hobbes.  I have little idea if it is worthy or not and that sucker set me back twenty bucks ).  His chapters on light infantry were refreshing and worthy of my further elaboration.

*

Light infantry goes back quite a ways.  The Greeks had their heavily armored phalanx, but used less encumbered highly mobile ( “light” infantry can mean either less equipment or enhanced mobility depending on who is defining the term but a combination of both attributes seems to equal the more successful attempts ) light infantry as flank protection.  They used primarily distance weapons and never tried to hold ground.  They were attacking or retreating-mobility was primary.  The Romans essentially duplicated this.  Then, infantry lost most of its primacy during the middle ages and heavy cavalry was dominate.  That is mostly attributed to the scarcities that followed the collapse of Rome.  Overpopulation, declining soil fertility, loss of trade to import foreign grain, and loss of centralized monopoly on force in effect decentralized all governments.  With far less surplus energy to fight war with, conflict for a time was with a much reduced number of Knights rather than with legions of troops ( in this way, both governing heads and the military were one in the same and minimized energy requirements.  It was an outgrowth of the old tribal organization, to illustrate how far the collapse took society ).  It wasn’t until the nation state started to gain political power that larger armies started to proliferate.

*

The Spanish tercios in the 1500’s signaled the return of infantry domination.  Two hundred years later light infantry in the Greek model returned as a supplement to line infantry ( the large bodies engaged in rigid maneuver ).  They were flank protection, raiders and ambushers as well as recon.  Unfortunately, light infantry was usually a “let’s re-invent the wheel all over again every time” wartime creation.  After the conflict ended light infantry usually disbanded.  The reason for this is straightforward.  Militaries prior to repeating rifles and machineguns were First Generation militaries.  The tactics and strategies called for discipline and uniformity, rigidity and inflexibility ( the US currently practices 2GW, which is the same culturally, with the strategic difference of artillery [ to include air artillery ] dominating over infantry ).  Light infantry, to be successful, had to teach adaptability and self discipline which went over like a turd in the punchbowl with the regular military.  They were victims of their own success ( since individuality won the skirmish, and the military is decidedly anti-individuality… ).  Successful light infantry in the last century plus have been the Boers, Jaegers, Sturmtruppen, Chindits and IDF’s.  Semi-State forces would be Hezbollah and Pushtuns.

*

Now, here is a vital little statistic that was repeated numerous times in the book for clarities sack.  The MAXIMUM weight that light infantry could carry, observed over a historical time frame ( not just some arcane one off study ), and still move over long distances while remaining fit for combat at the end of that maneuver, was 45 pounds.  That included everything, from uniform and boots and rifle and ammunition to all  other gear.  Endurance over encumbrance.  Now, obviously, you don’t just go marching fifty miles without serious training.  Light infantry must be well trained, both to physical standards and mental.  But if they are forced to carry too much weight they cannot complete the mission they are entrusted with.  No matter the utmost physical condition of the soldier, carrying more than 45 pounds is detrimental to his performance.  You would think that the military brass, being interested in their tip of the spear troops increasing performance, would heed such advice, but then those running the show militarily have never been interested in the performance of their weapons or troops as much as they have been focused on the performance of their organization.  Again, it is far more important that their heavy line infantry is tasked with strengthening the infantry organization than actually performing optimally.  If heavy infantry is slaughtered because no light infantry is strengthening their flanks, why then even more heavy infantry and its sister support troops are needed more than ever.  And as a bonus they are all wedded to the rigid discipline and organization of centralized top down command.

*

The number one rule of Bureaucracy is to strengthen its organization.  Job Security Is Job One ( or, in the Chinese phase, Protect The Iron Rice Bowl ).  As a potential insurgent ( hopefully four more years further away since Clinton wasn’t elected ) it is imperative that you emulate light infantry tactics rather than the line infantry ones our military is rigidly adhered to.  The only defense against light infantry is to be BETTER light infantry, and our empire is addicted to centralization.  It has no ability for its rigid bureaucracy to perform flexibly.  Just as the corporations you work for are incapable of independent thought or innovation ( the recent plunge in small business creation is not only bad from a independent worker standpoint, it bodes ill for any creativity in our economy-stagnation and implosion shall be the watchwords ), the military has been both the vanguard and the stalwart supporter for centralization.  Don’t expect much “out-fight the light” on their part.  Which, as Martha would say, is a GOOD thing.  You won’t have an advantage in logistics ( the Afghan fights had local popular support, WITH local production.  Here, food production is also centralized along with everything else ), so be thankful for tactical superiority.

OPR's 3 of 3

OPR’S 3
*
note: a minion lovingly gifted me the last Kunstler novel ( harrows of spring, I believe the title is ) and I was quite impressed with it-as far as his series goes I'd say it was the best one.  If not the best, at least as good as the first.  The middle books were not all that great, just adequate.

It would be easy to simply say, hey, why even talk about surviving THROUGH a collapse.  Real life, day to day, from 1970 until now, life has been all about living through an economic collapse ( a very slow one-which doesn’t mean it will keep going slow.  All it takes is the threshold of too many people and not enough food to be reached and it all comes unraveled.  The difference this time, unlike all of recorded history since the Agricultural Revolution started, is that it isn’t local this time, but global.  Not to mention that little problem called thermonuclear weapons AND their offshoot power plants-and yes, we really are that much of morons.  Did you notice Japan stop using theirs even after Fukishima? ).  It isn’t like we don’t know how to do that.  But that would be falling into the trap of reverting to total pessimism ( this article being about moderating that, remember? ), assuming all is like it was, then, BOOM, sudden collapse and it is all about just surviving in your little corner.  The sad fact is that at one point we will see no jobs, no welfare, but still the nation state government trying to rule us ( even poorer in performance than today, giving zero protection but increased extortion ).

*

Here is the problem as I see it.  You can’t keep paying on your homestead.  Either you lose your job and can’t pay the mortgage, or at today’s insane property taxes without outside income you can’t pay those and the county repossesses.  So, even trying to just feed yourself is going to be an issue.  And the State will be in no mood to hear your problems.  It doesn’t want to give you welfare, nor does it wish you to grow your own food without paying a too high tax.  Think this is impossible?  Look at Venezuela right now.  The mess will get sorted out, but probably after you are a corpse.  And that secondary income you earn?  That self employment that got you through the initial phases?  You can be the world’s best Gizmo repairman.  If none of your customers have money, or surplus for barter ( that comes AFTER the die-off, not during.  You need security for trade, on any level ), you don’t have a viable business.

*

So, all those financial independence moves you engaged in?  Not much help after all.  It is like saving money.  Great in the initial phases, worthless after a certain point.  Stockpiling tangibles?  Not the worst move, but past food and ammo it is just lifestyle retention.  You can’t barter for your property tax.  Finances only work while the system is functioning and barter only after the system is done collapsing.  In between?  This is where you should start to get happy, although the phrase “be careful what you wish for” should be foremost in your mind so wipe that grin off your face.  The in between part is conflict.  Not trade and not finances.  After a certain point, to listen to the authorities will kill you ( before that point, NOT listening to the authorities will kill you ).  I’m certainly not advocating rebellion.  I’m saying that once the government puts you in the position that it won’t protect you and it is actively trying to kill you through its actions, well, what choice do you have?  The nation state has a specific contract with its inhabitants.  You protect me, I’ll pay taxes and follow the rules.  Once the state reneges on that agreement they are just another protection racket that only extorts and doesn’t protect.

*

Despite what the Libertarians tell you, mankind has NEVER lived in a state of anarchy ( and remember, this is an anarchist telling you this ).  There is always a leadership to follow.  Even when you are part of an egalitarian war tribe, you can’t merely do as you please but have certain responsibilities that override your individual desires.  Libertarians try to point out the state is illegitimate.  That it is a protection racket.  Well of course it is, and you can’t tell me you can live without it.  They try to “prove” an anarchist society can survive attacks by nation states because no one central body can surrender for each individual.  And?  When has that stopped nations from attacking, say, guerrillas or terrorists?  In short, you are stuck with some kind of government, always.  You can’t overthrow one and expect to be free, because another WILL take its place ( in the near future, this will be more decentralized.  That doesn’t mean it isn’t a government ).  The only time you want to rebel is when not doing so will get you killed.  Not because “you aren’t free enough”.  You haven’t been free to do much of anything long before you were born.  Stop trying to be macho.

*

This took a bit of a detour from pessimism verses optimism, eh?  It almost sounds like yet another excuse for me to advocate even more paranoia.  Almost.  The pessimist part is, the die off isn’t as easy or simple as you desire.  The optimist part is that while the human species drastically shrinking is going to suck, you at least can have a say in how you manage the transition if you can defeat those trying to wipe you out so as to have less pressure on resources.  That is what things are going to boil down to.  Rwanda, globally.  Hiding and waiting out the process in preferable.  Realistically, you might have little choice but to engage in survival via combat.  The problem with most of our plans is that we think defensively.  I’ll survive by keeping a low profile and just defending myself as needed.  Right?  That might not be the smartest default setting.  As far as planning less pessimistically, it doesn’t take more gear.  Gear is, while necessary, also an encumbrance at a certain point.

*

Planning for the period during the REAL collapse ( living standards free falling is not a collapse but a precursor ) means you stop thinking like a consumer ( what worked in the present ).  Stop thinking of the past success of barter and pre-petroleum.  Focus on the devolution of the present prior to the arrival, once again, of the past.

OPR'S 2 of 3

OPR’S 2

We last left off with a disdain for both incurable optimists and incorrigible pessimists and wondered if perhaps we could somewhat meet in the middle and have the best of both worlds.  I of course love being a pessimist as my old age and ever growing cynicism, which was always latent but bloomed marvelously after I attended the University Of Real Life, takes on new dizzying heights.  I did so well in my younger years huddling away from reality, happy as a pig in a trough of swill ignoring all of little import and immersed in my world off the printed page.  And I would have done fine there had I not poked my Little Head out in search for female companionship.   Then I was forced to deal with such nonsense as Procreating, Career, Socializing and other horrors.  Most guys that have had some but more likely most of their soul corroded away with these acidic concepts will of course spout about how we all need to grow up and face life and take on challenges and other uplifting slogan material that is used to make themselves feel better but I can’t help but take with a grain of salt.  I came, I spawned, I’m in the first stages of death.  Humping joy.  I think I missed something in the sales pamphlet.  Any of you who are still around that had read me in the early ‘90’s might remember me being a little less defeatist back then.

*

But is any of that worse than being a Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy spouting bumper sticker?  The humpers that want everybody to be happy in life, despite what life throws at them, need a proctologist to perform an emergency cranial rectal inversion procedure.  No, we are both equally bad at how we view life, the universe and everything.  As in all things, moderation is key.  Stop being so friggin upbeat, and certainly quit being so much of a downer because both views irritate those around you.  I used to purposely pump myself up to ooze happiness on Mondays, taking delight in the grumpy greeting to my exuberance.  I don’t have the energy for that anymore, nor the inclination to do anything but vote that the idiots I work for broke my spirit, but luckily for me everyone else has just as much of an issue of being as cheerful as used to be possible.

*

But this isn’t really about talking yourself into enjoying being screwed.  It isn’t about life in general.  It is about allowing an un-moderated attitude to bite you in the ass during preparedness.  I’m constantly going on about how Yuppie Scum Survivalists and other evolutionary rejects ( it makes sense that they are religious rather than Darwinists as their wishful thinking fantasies need a deity to save them from their own stupidity-so the insult “evolutionary rejects” probably doesn’t register in their pea brains.  To those of my minions who are religious, congratulations.  You at least understand that God helps those that help themselves by thinking for themselves ) are so optimistic ( Peak Oil doesn’t start until 2030!  We’ll recover from every Depression!  Freedom and independence is one vote away! ) but in this article I’ll address the equal problem of survivalists being too pessimistic.  Yes, surprisingly, there is such as thing as too paranoid.  Who knew?  I’ve been so busy telling you to get more paranoid I’ve spent most of my time ignoring day to day reality in favor of a far worse future one.

*

I can 100% guarantee that the entire globe will see a die-off in the ninety-nine point something range.  99.9% is not out of the question ( there will still be enough numbers and diversity, far better than the last bottleneck we went through, so don‘t get your Snoopy underwear in a bunch over the decimal points ).  I won’t rehash the reasons at this point.  It is as simple as Malthus made it out to be and any fudging or wishful thinking you wish to apply doesn’t change the fact that seeing an equation to the end is as simple as doing the right math.  Now, the problem with that guarantee is timing.  Obviously.  I’ve just assumed the worse and lived my life the last 15 years accordingly.  Okay, not the Very Worst.  I’m not living as a hermit far away from everyone with a lifetimes worth of wheat and reading material.  I want to, but that is just too much ( remember, I already got used to being married and at this point I’m gambling on dying of overwork and lack of medical care rather than the collapse-so I’ve remained part of society ).  But I’ve invested in the worse case scenario.

*

And I sometimes wonder, how much was I subconsciously effected by 9/11?  Prior to that, I was just a Y2K prepper.  Prior to THAT, I was just a Mormon Prepper ( one years supplies, return to default normal ).  So, I did change my thinking prior to Y2K ( thank you, Dr. North ) to go from, basically, camping gear, gun and food equipped refugee, to seeing that the bigger infrastructure surrounding me and until then invisible was a lot more important than thought.  It had a much bigger impact and was actually in very real danger of not coming back.  But I was still too gear dependent.  It took a financial tsunami and a False Flag attack by the neocons to get me to advance up to the next level of civilization collapse ( Y2K would have been an imperial collapse only ).  Working towards life AFTER gear.  I eventually came to focus on this to a much larger degree.  And it wasn’t a wasted effort.  Hell, I’m much better off than most “Backwoods Home” homesteaders.

*

I can weather the financial collapse much easier.  But the nagging question remains, I went from normal life to life after the collapse and have made little progress towards life DURING the collapse, and what if I’m wrong about the velocity of the collapse?  What’s a Brother to do in a society still ruled by the elite, but with few jobs and almost no welfare?  I can’t even count on my writing income to make the transition with me ( once the means of prepping is gone, how relevant are my scribblings? ).  More tomorrow.
