why business closures?

WHY BUSINESS CLOSURES?
Most people are asking themselves, why are all these businesses closing down? There are just a few confirmed cases, because of Don't Test Don't Tell, and a virus rarely conducts a headcount ( hat tip, Aesop ) so any crowd size restrictions are arbitrary. Plus, we don't need masks according to the brightest bulbs that they can find to slap in front of the camera. I know they are lying to quell panic. You know they are lying. Ross Perot, even with hearing impaired from six feet of dirt covering him, knows they are lying.
*
Here is my question. You are supposedly a highly trained medical type person, if you are working for the WHO, the CDC or the Surgeon General's. Why would you lie? If they threatened you with firing, and the disease was Ebola Two, you would speak out anyway. Supposedly. You know, that oath to first do no harm. As usual there would be the 10% of flaming idiots who just mouthed the words, but most folks actually believe the sacred meaning of oaths. Hell, I didn't pay much attention to mine, joining the military. But I still believe it means something.
*
I look back in irony, as the Federal government of my youth was still corrupt and had itself ignored the document I was swearing to uphold ( just not as badly as today ), but that will eventually come back to bite them in the ass. They were in essence having us sign a contract they were not abiding by, to protect an empire they had no business holding ( no foreign entanglements ), and to protect the document would literally mean we are obligated to punish the party in default. Like all the rich and privileged everywhere, they assume the peasants are too stupid to be a bother or a worry.
*
So, I'm going to believe that 90% of doctors actually want to uphold their oaths. I might be naive, but I cannot dismiss all of humanity as unworthy and write them off, too cynical to live among my kind. The information they were given is either faulty, or they are under national security gag orders, or there are plenty of employees crying out in alarm but silenced. Or, while easily caught, the virus isn't as deadly as worse case assumptions. I might be missing an obvious one, but I think that mostly covers it.
*
The internal propaganda might have them actually believing the initial claims, that the economic disruptions would actually be far worse than the disease. If they actually believed “the flu is worse, bro”, no one would feel the need to whistle blow. And really, yes, a case can be made that the yearly flu is far worse. For all we know, all these medical types are sitting around scratching their heads wondering why in the name of God everyone is panicking. From a detached emotionless viewpoint, this really IS a nothing burger.
*
But these scientists and administrators are not historians or economists. They cannot possibly know ( the curse of specialists ) that pandemics of equal or even lower severity than normal do far more damage at the end of empire than during its reign. Hell, even my minions reading here don't all agree this is End Times, unable even to accept Peak Oil. So can NON survivalists be expected to take any of that into account? And none of them are probably aware of the economics that accompany resource depletion. They are too busy remembering the Latin names of germs.
*
So, if the scientists are ONLY going by the immediate medical effects of Beer Bug, because in reality it is no where near as dangerous as Ebola or Spanish Flu, why are corporations panicking? Corporate drones are far more retarded than the worst bought off bad scientist turned administrator. Well, there are exceptions, like Bezos. That little bald humper is one smart cookie. He didn't panic weeks ago and sell off his stock. No, he steadily sold it off a bit at a time over the last ten years ( or whatever ). But he was one of a few.
*
Corporates should NOT be panicking, as they merely should tow the public line of WHO and CDC and their ass will be covered. Except that the WHO finally called this a pandemic, after waiting forever. THEN the companies started closing down public access. Corporations do not care how many people it kills or sickens. They only care about money. Which is why they also waited this long. Once WHO declared a pandemic, now they could be sued by anyone getting sick on their property. The hooker and blow fund was endangered.
*
Then their butt buddy Trump promises government relief to business for lack of business. So, now they COULD reopen. The cost of being sued would be under the cost of lost business from closing. EXCEPT! Customers had already voted, long before Trump's people proposed a bail-out to corporations. Herd behavior had set in and too many people were staying home. Oh, you'll see video of all the clueless idiots still shopping and being tourists. But too many people stopped going on flights or to theme parks. The companies had ALREADY been in economic trouble.
*
BEFORE Bat Beer Bug, the economy was a dirty nasty hunk of offal. Business was already way down. As soon as less customers became a trend, far better to drastically cut expenses. Just as we cannot understand how a retailer saved money by closing a store, it is hard to wrap your head around “Disney saves money by closing the park”. Yeah, it cost more in operating expenses. In this case, some business is NOT better than none. SOME business costs too much. It is cheaper to cut expenses than to gamble on making a profit.
*
The customer is always right, and customers don't want to get sick. And WHY? Because everyone is so strapped for cash ( 40% of Americans don't have $400 for an emergency, 70% don't have $1k ) they cannot afford to get sick and not work. The consumers were ass raped for the last dozen years as the banks extracted more and more wealth out of the economy, and now there are no more consumers because to consume is to bankrupt after sickness. People are not afraid of Beer Virus, they are afraid of homelessness.
[ addendum-even JUST writing this three days ago I'm still obsolete.  Now the government is forcing lots of people to become unemployed.  Interesting how this one is going to work out ]

  1. http://thesaker.is/how-to-treat-coronavirus-infection-covid-19/

    COVID-19 Symptoms
    Day 1 to Day 7-9:
Mild cold. Runny nose, sore throat, mild malaise, maybe slight fever.
    Day 7-9 to Day 14:
Viral and bacterial pneumonia. Fever, cough and shortness of breath.
    Next:
Respiratory distress, trouble breathing, pulmonary edema (water in lungs), shock. Patient needs ventilator to survive. This stage can happen in a few hours or days.
    Next:
The immune system is seriously suppressed. Fungal infection in lungs. Septic pneumonia (infection effects the entire body).
    After Infection Heals:
Permanent pulmonary fibrosis with reduced lung capacity. Fibrosis is dead, rubbery tissue.

Ways to Prevent and Heal Covid-19 Infection
    1. Gargle with salt or salt with baking soda.
    2. Use nasal rinse such as Neti Pot with salt or salt with baking soda.
    3. If infected, take antibiotic to prevent secondary infections. The best fish antibiotic might be amoxicillin. It is better to get a better drug with a doctor’s prescription.
    4. When cough starts, take a cough medicine expectorant. It helps bring up mucus and other material from the lungs, bronchi, and trachea. The best ones need a doctor’s prescription.
    5. Do not take corticosteroids.
    6. Not in this article but some reports say do not take aspirin when sick with Covid-19.

  3. Right. Many a business by whatever model or market are on razor thin margins, the accountants and owners popping antacids like dinner mints to alleviate that queesy feeling in the gut come bills due. They may stay open under normal pressures barely meeting obligations, but no cash flowing in any excessess for cushion or emergencies. Closing the door, paying off the last wages or mandatory fees is triage to hopefully have a later date resuscitation by a returning customer demand, .gov handout salvation if regularly bribing and donating to favorite politicians, or perhaps a kindly loan or advance in exchange for signing over ownership percentage enough to just be a figure head for maintaing the store front image of the company. Like the fake peacock wealth displays of uber yuppie 'Mericans, they are papered over fakes as well. Like termite infested structures beyond saving, easier to crash it or burn it down, only option left. Just like a marriage gone sideways, just walk away and say screw it. Easy when most of a society is scofflaws and quitters anyway, why sweat it out for anything anymore. I never liked the service or products from many businesses anyway, so going bye bye is just desserts served as coldly as possible.

    1. Right, what are we actually going to miss? Factory outlets where the quality is 2x worse for a ten percent discount? A $20 plate of restaurant food that tastes as bad as the can it came in? A movie that cost $200 million and the script cost $200 from an unemployed hack stealing plot lines from better movies?

    5. Ya know to a certain degree there may not be much of a "come back" if things stay isolated enough that the masses figured out other ways to fill their days and nights. Here at the compound it's pretty much business as usual.

Had to go to the VA clinic last Thur for the required yearly check up and other than a few pedestal signs with spray n pray solutions and paper towelettes everybody seemed pretty relaxed, BAU. I went to Wally afterward and the same thing other than the paper aisle was empty.

A big part of me believes this whole thing is made up. A wolf at the top howls and all the sheeps below go Baah right on schedule.

Just like when our elders or grandparents always chimed in with a different account of things, versus a commonly spouted version of historical events. 4. Yes to the addendum, as in Nevada. A 30 day edict of closure by a politician (Nv governor) of life blood businesses and all of the follow on ancilliary supporting entities is literally a kill shot to medium and small operators. They will not have enough return action on day 31st forward to recover, not going to happen. After this orgy of insanity, customers have shot the wad and have no more bloodletting to donate further. Done. Fork in it. Depression #2, deal with it for years from here on out. The suicides, domestic violence, overdosing, and violent lash outs by all stripes of folks will surpass flu deaths, by far. Staying frosty.

    1. Kyle over at SurvPrer4NormPeeps brought up a good point. We don't know the names or addresses of 30 million illegals. So, they can't get a Trump check. A rather large number of potential criminals.

This is what concerns me the most. Its early yet, but as my wife and daughter are stuck at home, both trying to learn how to do "online distance teaching" to retain their teaching jobs, Im stuck 25 miles away, 6 days a week since, lucky me, I'm in an "essential" business... We live in a "good" neighborhood but only a half days walk from the Barrio. Another couple weeks of this shizz, with people running outta money, losing jobs, no food, no diapers, maybe off their psych meds... My girls are pretty tough and sufficiently armed, but I am far more concerned about two legged vermin than this virus.

    6. And we are only seeing the beginning of panic. All those lines around the building to buy guns? 80% are first time buyers. Dumbasses. No one remembers the exact same thing when L.A. had their grape soda riots? Then, a two week waiting period. Now, all the Smurf politicians banning sales, or, the approval lines busy.

"They (businesses) will not have enough return action on day 31st..."

      ^^This!^^

Boys and girls remember that, "edict...by a politician".

"The suicides, domestic violence...will surpass flu deaths, by far."

^^That's some Solzhenitsyn level truth right there.

The economic & social damage being done in the name of Wuhan Flu and the lockdown is immeasurable. We will wake up in near future with millions in abject poverty. Crushed by the edict of politicians who threw them out of work. Politicians who stole the bread out of their mouths & dreams from their hearts.

Yeah, but something tells me that’s not going to be an issue for the illegals, er, excuse me, “undocumented immigrants”:D There was this illegal fellow, that lived right around the corner from me. He mentioned something about being pulled over by the cops a number of times. When I asked why he didn’t get deported, he probably didn’t actually know why, but mentioned that they always let him off. Now this was before Commiefornia became an official sanctuary state, but technically, it already was.

I saw some comment one time from some leftist moron, blaming the red states for all of homeless leaving the red states, and heading to Commiefornia. Didn’t have the heart to tell him that it was the communists idiots, that his idiotic ass, voted into power, that decided to give the homeless here a monthly stipend, which resulted in a max exodus out of the sane states, and into the leftist shithole that he calls home :D Friggin dumbass!

    2. The ray of hope from these events and coming maelstorm is that society is going to whiplash around to a very hardcore strongman fascism iteration, with old school death squads laying out malefactors to new society norms. It really only takes the weary and stretched out leo/judiciary going a bit rogue and added prodding hard by pissed citizenry, to go all gestapo. throw in neighborhood militias and turf gangs to pull an ISIS purge of their terrain, tossing fools off of the roofs and whatnot. Spicy times like.

    4. Hmmm...I dunno. Be careful what you wish for. Its a roll of the dice whether you end up on the naughty or nice list when things go sideways. Suppose left handed people, off-gridders or rugged gentlemen with luxurious manes of hair are deemed a threat to the NewSA... It seems in history enemies are chosen for convenience or to further an agenda. Any new ruler is gonna want/demand sheep. Dont think many Minionites are gonna fit that role all that well.

    5. From the new spike in gun sales, a lot of anti-gun snowflakes are perhaps joining the dark side. And the last few weeks, nobody but communist party members are listening to the PC shrieks. A sea change back to sanity just might be possible ( as well, the public bailouts are more fascist than communist ) . Wouldn't it be sweet if the left became the new target? I know, just dreaming.

    5. Kroger wasn't terrible. No flour, rice or sugar ( although, some small packs of seasoned rice, like a add water and nuke single serving ). No pasta. Potatoes were "yellow" and $5 for 5 lbs. The Idaho had about three dozen singles left at 79cent a pound, but looked like they were on their last legs. The cans were very low but not gone. So, really, even with limited choice, no one would have starved after shopping there. They had a four foot high full pallet of generic peanut butter $1.50 and the meat section was lame but didn't have any holes. Produce fine.

  9. Hello and good morning,

The economy died in 2008. People went forward as though
it didn't happen and continued their status seeking spending
    and consuming.

How many people lost their homes and their jobs over the next
10 years? The next up from welfare folks used credit cards
at 20% interest to get what they needed for the essentials.
The rental set exploded even while rental prices went up and
up...taxes for the owners went up and up also.

Remember Maslow? Shelter, clothing and food first. Now all

three are threatened. We have been looted. Gov bad actors

and corps seeking profit. Drugs flooded in and immigrants

flooded in. Resetting of cultural norms and PC. (you all

    know what I mean).

And in order to provide a cover story for the financial

carnage we get this super duper Sars flu enhanced with HIV.

Very convenient to declare an emergency and suggest everyone

"shelter in place" for now. Conspiracy maybe, but the 5G

test cities have more trouble with the flu. Just go look it

up yourself...start with Wuhan and Milan, Italy and then

extrapolate out from there. The radiation emitted causes

interfacing O2 molecules to "spin" and less O2 is processed.

It may not be too late, to find junk land and park your van

near the river, get out of the city if you can.
