what you brought to the party 2

WHAT YOU BROUGHT TO THE PARTY 2
We've talked about exposing yourself to Beer Virus. Most of you are still going to work. It isn't like you have much choice. I'm not going to suggest that you quit your job, because my NOL is still at her job and I don't feel unduly stressed about that ( I was joking about her getting it from serving lunch to the homeless-she's a great cook, another plus-but then I read/heard about the symptoms, a dry cough primarily, and I could swear she already had it last month as historically she NEVER is down two weeks with a flu. Ever. Except when she got a flu shot. I never trusted those. As bio-engineered as the Beer Virus, perhaps? Just a thought, nothing for sure ).
*
Common sense says limit your exposure to the level of near paranoia, but most of us are far from a complete self-quarantine. I think we may soon regret that, not necessarily physically but stress wise, as we are about to explode in cases exponentially as Italy did. I do want to give a hat tip to our foreign minions in the Philippines and Oz for alerting to the severity to this WAY before any of us. That should show all of us here how good the propaganda arm of the empire is. We are still under a No Test No Tell policy. The virus could be killing us off like cockroaches right now and we are still clueless.
*
I do hope all of you are buying like a trophy wife with a platinum credit card. For once in the last dozen years, I'm looking around with a blank expression on my face, not having anything at all I think I need to buy. If that isn't you, go shopping. But Jim, you wrinkled sun spotted pot bellied ass flattened near sited geriatric who still somehow manages to be a sexy beast, what about saving money for rent when I get laid off from work? What about it? If you keep paying rent after a pink slip, you are doing this apocalypse thing wrong.
*
I told you last October that the economic collapse was here, along with the liquidity crisis. They started out pumping dozens of billions into the Repo Market daily, and now are pumping HUNDREDS of billions daily ( which are no longer soothing the markets ). The liquidity/derivative implosion is here, above and beyond the Beer Bug problem. Any moron like myself can see the writing on the wall. Now, I've been telling you even longer, buy junk land NOW, before everyone becomes homeless and the supply dries up.
*
I understand, that isn't for everyone. But you need to decide, yesterday, where you are going, your safe spot, as soon as you get that pink slip. Which almost every one of you will get. If you don't get one, I'd be worried. Because your job is to either die keeping public order, or die from Beer Bug patients. These promised bail outs to industries? I don't think it will work ( I thought it was hilarious that the first day they announced cruise ships, airlines and the medical industry gets bailed out. Wait a second, aren't they forgetting something a WEE bit important? The next day they added the oil industry. These are the idiots we have for Dear Leaders ).
*
Buying stocks doesn't pay operating expenses for all that long. You'll still lose your job even if the company stays alive. If you are one of a thousand crew members on a cruise ship, and there are only a hundred passengers, you'll get laid off. If no one is buying your fracking oil, less wells need to be installed ( another crap myself laughing uproariously moment, $15-$20 fracking companies are now selling as penny stocks! Good Christ On A Cracker, I LOVE being right all the time ). Do you understand yet?
*
What is a hospital going to do, without dressings, IV drips, surgical masks or drugs? Extra personnel sitting around filling out paperwork in triplicate as patients in tents in the parking lot do the funky chicken and die in pain? More unemployment there. Your job is crap, now. It will be needed far less in the very near future. What have I told you, on my Peak Oil tirades? We all get paid to sit around and waste energy. That is most of our jobs. None of this is going to be instant. Bail-outs, grants, tax breaks and the like kick the can. A VERY short distance. Don't be fooled by past results. Yes, this is assured.
*
Think of all the many different ways the economy was in trouble, even prior to last September. Student debt was in record default. On a loan that was supposed to be assured, that couldn't be discharged. What are colleges going to do now? If campuses are being shuttered, how long do online classes last? At on-campus prices. With all the Starbucks closing ( no more Bachelor Of Barista degrees ). Well, perhaps Starbucks lasts longer than most. We are talking drive-thru's and the elixir of life. But you need more than minimum wage part time to afford $3 coffees.
*
Beer Bug is probably the nail in retails coffin. Wal-Mart almost seems to have been tipped off about Beer Bug ( by Bill Gates? ) as they started their grocery pick-up service just in time for public spaces closing. But they have rent on half a store not being re-stocked from China. I guess they can start charging outlandishly for food without competition. If there is diesel being imported, as the PetroDollar dies along with the world economy and the US banks. If semi truck lines stay open as business tanks 90%. [ addendum-written, what?, five days ago.  Already obsolete on the food for sale ]

So, definitely, your pink slip should be your moment you move. You can have a place to go, assuming interstate travel is allowed, if you act now. Don't wait for everyone else to get the same idea. Buy that junk land now, brown cow. Ideally, it is $100 down and $100 a month and your last rent payment and a few asset liquidations pay it off. You'll need a legal squat more than ever, to escape revenue hungry policemen. And a place to bury supplies. There are obviously other options. We've covered them all before. Back to buying, the preppers curse.
*
Yes, for a time it is new and exciting, buying all the toys. My mission was to irritate the crap out of you with reality, but a side job was teaching frugal living and frugal prepping so you could have more for the same money. But after a time, it gets old, this shopping. You look around one day, old and feeble, and notice all the stacked crap as the monument to your life. Well, whoopee friggin pickles! It lost a bit of its luster. But now you must shop even more, even quicker. This is your last chance to stack it deep and hopefully cheap. One last push, and the labor pains are over. Because this IS our very last hurrah. Our last binge of consumerism. Continued tomorrow.

note: still want silver?  The low price is BS, caused by inflated paper silver stock liquidation.  There is still sterling silver jewelry at Amazon.  I ordered five rings and two chains ( NOL can't wear rings due to swelling, but rings make nice necklaces ).  I have gifts for my honey through next years Valentines.  I don't concern myself with weight of silver in the rings.  It is SOME silver, still for sale.  Just buy primarily as a gift, with secondary precious metal storage.  I still think silver is a shoe in for $100 in today's purchasing power.
*
note: I should know better but STILL ventured out to small neighborhood grocery.  Our days below freezing should be over and I was going to fill the coolers in the shed with potatoes.  Close to zero produce, no spuds.  I won't be checking other stores ( this one has huge spaces between shelves and I had a good ten foot radius from all people ).  The other day, normal Yuppie Scum With Head Up Bum behavior.  Even those shopping at Wally and Kroger were relaxed and laughing at the craziness.  Today?  Unmistakable doom vibe hanging over everyone.  After a week plus of barely any traffic, everyone bumper car crazy zipping around.  REALLY bad vibe.  Dammit, Jim, stay in the compound!

  1. Forays outside the wire must now be judiciously undertaken. Some Minions may have civilly functioning townies where it can be done. Burbs or up to cities are indian country right now. Hunker about two weeks from herein out. Let things flush out a bit as far as supply chain restocking and the anxiety level with cutthroat competitors to play out. Risk versus reward math is not computing to fetch potatoes or bread only to get shived for your hubris. Then strategize your probes outside the wire. Again, this is now near combat patrols days when leaving your wire. Gear up, masks, gloves, and goggles. That will protect you better than that sexy austrian pistola on your hip will ever do. Respirators with exhausting valving and any p/n level of filtering cartridges is better than paper cloth flimsy baby diaper looking thing concealing the unphotogenic faces of your minions anyway. PPE gear apparel is the new cool kids thing. Stay Frosty.

    1. I look at PPE gear as I do condoms. Don't hump a skank, and build up your health instead.

  2. Report from the Space Coast... Great weather , mid eighties no rain. LOL in the process today of closing down the Zoo. She and I will just be hunkering down when she gets here in a bit.
Locking the gates and turning the motion detectors on too.
In fact I broke quarantine this morning and ran to the Lowe's and was able to buy a fresh set of batteries for all the detectors. Busy place today...
I won't be venturing out again for awhile...

    1. I don't we realize how hard it is to lock down, even being introverts hiding in the compound. Just another skill needing a few failures as practice.
