hookers and blow budget

HOOKERS AND BLOW BUDGET
How about reducing your budget drastically, as a way of getting ready for increased unemployment and worse inflation?  I don’t think anyone needs to reduce their urban budget just to be able to prep.  My goodness, prepping is so cheap it is laughable.  Not that I want everyone to prep.  I like my wheat and my reloading components nice and cheap as they are.  Really, I don’t care if everyone prepped.  Because they would STILL come after my stuff.  Because most people are retarded.  And retards stock the wrong supplies.  Wasting it, and then there not being enough and then they bother me anyway.
*
With all due respect to those advocating “just a few hundred rounds, because you won’t last past the first firefight”, do you have any clue how poor of a shot most people are?  And 99% of those think suppressive and covering fire is a great idea, because they heard some military guys did it.  Yeah, Spanky, they also run TOWARDS fire.  Are you sure these are the guys you want advice from?  They also think being one of the biggest users of petroleum by organization in the world isn’t a problem.  Do you hear Jesus weeping?
*
Anyway, I shan’t focus on the fallacy of “if everyone prepped we’d all be safer”, or discuss when you should stop prepping for the apocalypse and start just worrying about this economic collapse.  Even if you were stacking silver and ammo, and filling plastic jugs with wheat every day, prepping still wouldn’t take that much of your income.  Why?  Because even going crazy with prepping, and I mean hog wild like with junk land and alternate energy, you wouldn’t come close to half of what a cheap new car costs.
*
Simply, most people live as if their budget included cocaine and prostitutes.  And I don’t mean crack whores and meth, as cheap as those can be relatively.  I mean the good old fashion 1980’s Miami Vice era classy hookers and real cocaine.  Think about that for a second.  The middle class used to be able to party with decent drugs.  I mean, sure, quality has been going down for fifty years.  The LSD I got hold of back in the day had almost no hallucinogenic properties.  The best thing it was for was allowing you to drink all night without passing out.
*
But I’m talking about the financial wherewithal to have the extra cash to party, if one so desired.  Now?  The best most people can do is stay on antidepressants hopefully they can score from their insurance policy ( come to think of it… is that why you are all so insistent you must keep your overpriced under performing health insurance? ).  Now it’s a seriously wild weekend if you can afford a Little Caesars $6 pie and a $2 Redbox rental.  Damn, now I want pizza, even one with a total of sixteen pieces of pepperoni and less cheese than a sandwich.
*
I won’t deny that living in the city is insanely expensive.  And living anywhere is expensive if you live a conventional standard of living.  But I also know you can live on far less, if you so desire.  And you don’t even have to desire because “we are all going to die!”.  How about simply being able to live on Social Security instead of working until you die?  That alone would get me motivated, especially seeing these sad sacks in their upper sixties or even their seventies still sucking corporate ass for a pittance.
*
Talk about Charlie Brown continuing to fall for the old football gag.  Don’t these senior pukes realize they are being worked into an earlier grave?  If you are working for your medical insurance, you might be better off without it.  If you are working for rent, at that age, where did your planning go wrong?  I’m not trying to be offensive.  My parents are in that situation, even if it is self-inflicted.  I’m simply asking, doesn’t that motivate you to change your life style?  How exactly are you spending fifty grand a year?  And still not making ends meet?
*
And good Dog, I am NOT talking about pussy steps like cancelling the cable and not drinking Starbucks.  That is chump change.  I’m still living on my wages from thirty years ago, because even then I kept my spending at half of my minimum wage job and had the other half as disposable fun money.  Even when I didn’t have a car, or a bike, I just walked the half hour to Wally and got a taxi home with the months groceries.  When rent got high, I took in roommates.  When I had less coming in I ate cheaper.  When I had extra I still lived like that and invested in preps.
*
None of this is hard.  My daughter took eight years to get her degree, working the whole time ( at usually poor wages, it being a tourist town ) and living in the actual “I hear gunshots every night” ghetto.  That crazy bitch has bigger balls than me.  Granted, her generation thinks a phone is an actual necessity, but by and large she lived poor.  Why do you think it sucks to live like you are a college student, decades later?  You just need to reward yourself for doing so, but in a non-monetary manner.
*
For most workers, they squeeze out a pittance from their paycheck and that is their reward for working.  All the parasites get the rest.  And they spend 0% of the time grateful and 100% of the time trying to get more from you.  That includes the spouse, the kids, the boss, the landlord, tax collector and everyone else.  Kids don’t NEED your money, even if they think they do. You shelter them, feed them, and try to train some of the dumb ass out of them.  While showing them love.  If they want money, go earn it you lazy twat.
*
Your best bet is to need and to earn far less money, and shifting your focus to doing what you love to do.  No, not snorting coke off a hookers deliciously smooth ass.  Monetize your passion.  It is all part of prepping, getting to that self-employed place so you can move anywhere.  The lifestyle while you work two jobs?  Drastically reduce it.  You won’t care as you are busy building your dream.  And it doesn’t even matter if that self employment never works.  The journey is more important than the destination.
*
Then, as you and your spouse’s hours are cut and prices skyrocket, you have insulated yourself from that, as a bonus.  Now, granted, you have Evil Spouse to deal with.  Hey, that is your problem.  You married the broad.  How exactly does she propose keeping herself in this lifestyle as the economy is taking a big squishy?  If you wait until you are forced to drastically cut the budget, things will not be as pleasant.  Does she love you, or your wallet?  I know the answer-do you?  We’ve had these discussions before.  I’m sure many of you are sitting pretty.
*
This is just targeting the new dudes who think prepping is MRE’s and AR’s ( with FLIR’s-duh! ).  If you don’t want to leave the city or the nice paycheck, at least live like a peasant and invest the money now while you can.  And be ready for the crap show that cometh.

  1. Right Jim. I think the vast majority of trad. Folks need an economic shock kick to the groin to change habits and behaviors relative to an economic collapse, depression, personal financial crisis, etc. Very few if any are Bison schooled on realities or have elders that showed them how to get by via depresssion standards of struggles. Folks should plan for and anticipate a zero external income eventuality period that may last a year or much more. Those various monetary benefits on direct deposit schedules now may be interrupted, or cut off and not be there for anyone. One may have theit heads spun around by events and find themselves behind the lines of new state government or power entities or have many total seized up systems not paying dimes out to anyone. Use these gravy days to get ahead of the curve, so a person can just hunker and hermitage out the most or worst elements that are coming, soon.

    1. Even if staying in a built up area, practice hermitage. It can only help.

  2. Yep, water the soup and stretch the rations with fillers. Split paper matches in halves to squeeze two fires from one. Have a roster and calculated episode ration quota for toilet paper, in addition to bidet procedures to prolong and go post t.p. availability operations. Aquiring that eyeballing pattern for appropriating and repurposing anything not bolted down, not locked or secured, or unguarded, as useful to you assets. Hell, cut that tube of toothpaste open, there is two or three more brush cycle residuals remaing within. Get with the program Minions, got work to do!

  3. I figure to pick up my FLIR's after it all goes down.
The real question on all the electronic crap, is , whatcha gonna do after the five to ten years pass and no batteries work anyway...
    Hardcopy everything.

    1. With rechargeable batteries, each at a thousand cycles, I can't imagine it would be impossible to lifetime your e-needs on a budget, at least with some items. Not all. You can't store that many laptop batts. Almost no 12v batts. FLIR batts and AA lighting, more than likely. But I agree on reading. Relying on electricity is a poor practice.

    2. Over the years, I've had a shit ton of ni-cad batteries go bad from age. Usually from letting her set too long between charges. I try to rotate my stockpile of ni-cad batteries thru the chargers at least once a year.
In fact my original Kindle just died here recently at around seven years old. At least Amazon has a backup of all purchases on those. But what happens once Amazon is no more eh ?
I've read that the lithium bats are somewhat better on the life expectancy ? But have their issues too.
For the solar set up, I guess lithium batteries might be the best bet ? Or mechanical storage with flywheels or high lift and water ?
Awe hell... I'm 65 now , so I'll likely be dead before my batteries are...

    3. My plan is, and I hope I'm not delusional, store the batts and never charge them to begin with. Then when I need them I'll be using constantly. My first unused batch is from, I think, 2006. Another set bought about 2016. The first set has a few C's and D's, but then I found out they can take three plus days to charge. Luckily it is 95% AA and AAA. This last time, just A's. The D lanterns are really crappy old tech LED's that have almost no lumens. Lumans? No loss there. And my generic mag lite is probably non-LED. Hell, I don't even know where it is to check. I'll just stop babbling now.

    4. These are the flashlights you want. Been using them daily for at least 5 years now. They use (1) AA 1.5 volt or (1) 14500 3.7 volt. Has a 3 position push button switch at the rear - bright, less bright, strobe. Has a belt clip but I never use it, just keep it in my pocket. My knife is belt clipped so that position is taken. 10k reviews. They're doing something right. I buy 2 more every couple months. None have ever failed.

    5. I have one of those UltraFire flashlights. For some reason, the switch on mine is flaky when I use the standard AA, but I have no problems with it when I use the 3.7v lithium battery? They are much brighter with the 3.7v batteries, so if you can spend a little extra to get a few of those with a charger, you will be happier with it.

Otherwise, for a compact and energy efficient daily use light, I really like my 1-AAA LED Mini-Mag flashlight.

    6. I like all my rechargeables separate from whatever they power. Cost about a buck, so you can have lots of back-ups. Sure, you then need a solar ( AA, AAA, D, C ) charging station, plus back-up to that, but it is still cheaper when you have dozens of devices to run.

  4. I just met a guy who works for one of the Elko gold mines. He said he was in the process of getting promoted, so perhaps more in tune with the operations than the average miner? Supposedly the mine is in good financial shape and everything is great, no problems on the horizon. I did bring up some of the problems you foresee, but he didn't seem bothered by it. Thoughts?
    Peace out

    1. All I can guess is that just as in the military, you don't tell the grunts they are about to get slaughtered. How many cubical drones know about the finances of the company, an upcoming merger? Not saying I am right and he is wrong. Mine is all conjecture and I usually am paranoid. I just don't see long term hope, and that might effect my accelerating the timeline of events ( a common failing, I admit ). Still, one day I'll be right to panic early :)

  5. Right. You may be spazing out a wee bit early by other's perceptions but, you will be deadly correct come collapse post toasted crunch time. Better to be good than hoping for luck.
