72 hours

72 HOURS

*
It is rare to find a new guy to watch on You Tube ( you know, for a non-pretty pony princess prepper ), let alone two.  I just started watching both and so far like what I see ( of course, I haven’t given them time to piss me off, yet, either ).  There is No Stress Mike, an old Vietnam vet who makes money teaching folks all kinds of stuff.  I’ve seen vids of him talking about how he apprenticed into jobs ( which was interesting but I wonder how viable today with sue happy idiots and minimum wage laws ) and he covered his experiences with the M16 ( very fragile, but he doesn’t discount it entirely ), plus he has had good luck buying under the table at half price or a smidge more offering gold and silver.

*

Another one I’ve encountered was Serious Survivor.  He isn’t as exciting as Mike, but a step above the typical droning prepper.  I liked his video on the ten foods without shelf lives, which inspired my article on the thirty year foods.  He mentioned 72 hour kits, and I like his quote.  “72 hours is when everyone else starts running out of food”.  In other words, so I take it, why run out of food at the same time as everyone else?  You can’t take this literally, as if you have a regular three day supply of groceries ( I imagine this assumes most folks will be living out of their freezer ) like everyone else, and then you add a 72 hour kit, you now have almost a week of food.

*

Yet, a week is probably what most other preppers have in stock ( because anyone anywhere can buy a case of MRE’s, three AR-15’s and a Beretta 9mm, a Mollie chest rig and a FLIR scope and call themselves a prepper ) also, so now you’ve run out of food at the same time as all the ghetto idiots armed with 38 Specials, AND when all the AR militia start researching the effects of the 55 grain FMJ on human flesh to explore the option of cannibalism.

*

Was the point being that you need a months supply of food?  Was it that 72 hour kits are complete horse apples?  I don’t know, it was a throwaway comment I heard while on my exercise bike and I quickly jotted down along with some other article ideas which were much more productive.  Yeh, like I’m sure you never noticed that some days I just had to fill up space and had little new or unique ideas.  Seriously, I just liked the phrase.  To me, it ridicules so much of the mindset of fake preppers.  I’ve seen 72 hour kits that were an unbelievable amount of money.  I’ve also heard the idiots in government give this advise.

*

So right there it mocks two aspects of the Bad Weather Preppers.  They spend way too much, and they actually listen to the boys that came up with both “duck and cover” and “seal the oxygen out of your safe room with plastic sheets and duct tape”, and they end up NOT prepared, broke, and in serious denial how vulnerable they still are ( although in their defense, with an AR you can shoot a hole in the wall to breathe through ).  So, I suppose, that is a good place to start with 72 hour kits.  It is the Nigerian Prince E-Mail for survivalists.

*

You’ve read the e-mails. “I are Shalomalongadingdong, Nigerian price and I are pledging you one gabazillion dollars if you bail me out of jail for pedophilia” ( or whatever the Hell the letters say ).  Have you read the articles analyzing those e-mails?  In essence, something so obviously retarded and so evidently a scam isn’t meant to fool smart people.  It is meant to find the idiots that will fall for the con.  I submit to you that 72 hour kits are the exact same thing.  You read the advice ( I know, I know, OR listen to it.  I assume you understand I mean either ) that you should smell out other preppers with the 72 hour kit gambit.

*

Like, you are not admitting to serious preps this way, AND you find others of like mind without compromising OpSec.  But, why are you making this assumption, that a serious survivalist is lurking behind his 72H Kit?  If Das Homeland Security is telling everyone, his uncle AND their chained monkey to have a 72 hour kit, how do you know you aren’t just getting a moron non-prepping citizen rather than a survivalist?  You don’t.  It could just be Joe Average who thinks since the government loves him and would never lie to him ( Diversity Is Our Strength ) and that nothing worse could ever happen than an earthquake or something and the supple trucks would arrive within three days.  He could actually believe that crap.

*

And to believe that crap, you must have about zero cognitive ability.   You believe the 200 year Fracking Miracle, that a third tower never touched by an airplane but sprinkled with a few drops of kerosene can pancake down like a demolished building, and that the government did much of anything in New Orleans.  You think kids get educated at public schools, that the economy is doing great and that JFK was killed by a lone gunman.  And if you believe any of that, you either are pretty smart but just don’t give a crap, or you are so compliant you’ll believe the lies about me ( he is a Constitutionalist! Danger! ), or really are so stupid you constitute a danger to others around you.

*

72 Hour Kits should NOT be used to identify fellow preppers.  They should be used to identify other suckers.  A three day survival kit has absolutely no utility whatsoever.  Any bug-out bag can safely identify a person marginally aware of the coming dangers, and just might well contain three days of supplies, but that is NOT what the jackbooted thugs advise you to have.  They want you to have a 72 hour kit.  Those are what virtue signals a imperial support drone.  A bug-out bag by its very nature signals another mindset entirely.

*

A bug-out bag is saying, hey, I don’t trust these bastard chicken chocking monkey molesters to keep the peace.  I might have to leave the target area for a time.  A 72 Hour Kit is just repeating the official on high word.  Relax, help is on the way.  Sit back, eat your PowerBar, drink your treated water and listen for official word on your wind up radio.  Remain calm.  All is well.  Is that what a bug-out bag tells you?  Hell, no.  It says Run Away, Danger, Will Robinson.  Yes, this is all nitpicking.  But just think about it.

  1. 72 hours is just a few days of catching up on some sleep. Leningrad under seige two years. Ugoslavian cities under seige year and a half. Syrian areas occupied by Islamic mercenary Hessians for six years. Venezuala a shithole for years now. The "Club-72" fema fan boys will be annihilated by the end of the week and be guests of honor at a barbecue on the next weekend, their queer gear stripped off and some kid wearing their boots. Not a plan for success, a strategy for catastrophe.

    ============
    That right there.
Everything is based upon that sentence, and yes I mean sentence.
    Like death sentence.
If your location is such that you might have to abandon it then you shouldn't be there at all.
The signs are out there and easily seen, so there is no logical excuse to be in proximity to danger that may make you have to use your retarded 72 hr kit and "git outta dodge".

How in the world do people come up with this stuff, and what kind of idiots fall for it?

First off, if you can't go 72 hours (3 days) without food you have bigger problems than any "kit" can solve.

Second, how much food are you going to eat in 72 hours during a "git outta dodge" situation? What, 3 full cooked meals on china and silver?

Recently I worked hard in the blazing sun all day long and I ate nothing but drank about 3 gallons of water and at suppertime I could barely manage 1/2 a sandwich and a few chips. Food was the last thing on my mind, and I slept like a hibernating wild ass animal that night. Food is a tool to keep the engine running at peak optimum but somewhere along the way people have become convinced it is entertainment to keep them occupied 24/7.

NYFC marketers are doing their job well I guess because everybody it seems is completely hypnotized, mesmerized, and infatuated with food, and it shows. Hell, you could eliminate 1/2 the people in the US and in shear weight alone you'd still have a whole country's worth of people running around.

    1. You know I dislike BOB's and the whole bug-out concept. You should be avoiding people now, not after it is too late. The context I was using it in was the Virtue Signalling to find fellow preppers. It was not a vote for the actual practice of bugging out.

    2. Yes, when selecting prospects for tribal admission there will be subtle and clearly defined lines of delineation between reject and asset individuals. Just as in infantry grunts it is telling who has their shit squared away and who is posing as an "operator". Bushwack 'em soon as possible before a threat or liability to your outfit.

  3. I wasn't blaming you for anything.
I had to go to the metropolis yesterday and I barely made it out alive, it was a struggle all the way to the end. My goal was simple, but other people made it almost impossible. People standing sideways in aisles of stores, stopped, thumbing on their phone, as if no one else exists on the planet. I had to go around at least 8 of them. Empty shelves. The largest Walmart around and there was not even one bag of the green Iams dog food. WHAT???? I was in Menards to get 4" casters for a cabinet I'm building for my stationary belt sander and they only had 1. This is the 3rd time in 2 months I have been to this store looking for these casters and it's always the same. I have told the section manager twice about it and he apologizes and says he'll order more but never does. I can't change types of casters now as I already have a bunch of stuff using them and it all needs to match. And a few more other incidents I can't recall right now, where people act like they are the only people on earth. If I was 30 years younger I'd be in jail right now and a bunch of people would be in the emergency room.

    1. It is barely worth going retail anymore. Thank goodness for online ordering. I don't think store managers get to decide what to order. That is probably centralized, with more of an eye to profit over customer satisfaction. See? Old age isn't about wisdom, but of weariness. Too tired to fight :)

    2. Yeah guys, get out and you can witness live and in color the decline and fall of a nation. I can only use similar incidents and examples as a confirmation to myself that what I know to be truth is the real deal and my chosen course is indeed the right path to be on. Take heart that at least your toil and beliefs are righteous.

  4. I like, and relate well with Mike.
Though I do keep a BOB in my truck and there is also one at home. Certainly could go much, much longer than 72 hrs ! I'd dare to say, whatever is in the bag...will last me the rest of my life heh heh. Should I ever resort to needing one...

  5. "exercise bike" - hahahahaha, Dude quit smoking. The trick is to do it cold turkey and in 3 weeks the physical cravings will be gone-easy and you are welcome.

    1. Don't teach your grandma to suck eggs. I've quit cold turkey many times. The cravings are back in 6 months, a year-I even went two years before the craving hit, hard. Better one a day than half a pack a day for a year or three, then quitting for a year.

    2. In Soylent Green (Harry Harrison "Make Room! Make Room!) that Chuck (as city cop/detective) got some actual tobacco cigarettes and exclaims "I could smoke one of these every night. This is the movie where a cute girl comes with the apartment and she's "furniture". Worth seeing again, since pdx is beginning to look like the street scenes.

    3. Kick ass movie. I never saw it until recently, so it was never "shock value" or "entertainment" to me but more of a sense of wonderment how close they did get to the future. Don't worry, you won't be there until you can't get up the stairwell through sleeping squatters :)
