ground control 2

GROUND CONTROL 2

Now, I know what you are saying.  Oh, golly, we don’t need to kill Indians any more and our Boys In Green are super deluxe professional Ninja Warriors and by golly just having one show up in his tacticool forty pounds of ballistic protection will fill the unruly mobs with fear and they will all forget they are hungry and disperse peacefully.  Hey, I have a bridge with attached fallout shelter I want to sell you in Northern Idaho, too.  Fill out an estimate for all assets and estimated future earnings, double that and send it to me in bearer bonds.  You really think there is no more need for militias?  And, duh, I’m talking about the government controlled militia, not the circle jerk boys wheezing their way on to the paintball field to engage in glorious and goose bump educing games of “cover me” and “give me suppressive fire”.  Why, my state and county doesn’t have official militia, you cry.  Isn’t that the Feds that do that?  The Feds insist everyone is a militia member, if of sound body and within an age group.  How they then disperse or use those members is also up to them.  Local control might be one method, and probably the only available one as transportation and communication break down.  But before you get all excited, thinking you are going to be a super bad ass in the city militia, you are far less Tommy Tactical and way more African Child Soldier.

*

The future of our industrial oil age military is bleak.  They will shrink in size as the cost of corporate welfare rises and equipment costs skyrocket, squeezing personnel costs as the overall budget shrinks, while at the same time less troops will try to fight or hold more territory.  Any withdrawal from an area will match numbers reductions, leaving every military unit understaffed.  Especially the CONUS ones.  The National Guard used to fill in for those units but as the overall military size decreases those troops are also sent overseas.  The police, no matter how many armored carriers or M16’s they have, are already stretched in “normal” fiscal times and will prove to be about 100% ineffectual come serious emergencies.  The better staffed police in the 1960’s couldn’t contain civil unrest then and the college educated idiots they employ now stand less chance.  They might look Billy Bad Ass with SWAT teams and such, but the only thing they have going for them now is their reputation for berserker lashing out unprovoked or for ganging up on the near powerless.  Only fear of irrational morons keeps the police in power right now.  But while everyone might fear bullies, they also know how to defeat them easily.  If you are a LEO, beware that day.  Even if you are professional and fair, your brethren in the big urban war zones have painted you with an unfair brush.

*

It will take very little time for all levels of government to understand they don’t have enough well equipped or well trained police or military forces.  The military can’t come home or we lose even more oil, and they can’t expand the police due to Union protection of training standards made to minimize personnel and maximize pay ( which is of course understandable, but an unintended consequence ), not to mention casualties from the initial stages of conflict, and at some point the militia is going to need to be activated.  This will be a draft in name, to replace cannon fodder casualties overseas, or an actual armed male conscription for local cannon fodder.  The police won’t cede power, and will be kept as MP’s for the militia, and the militia will be used and misused and abused.  At the beginning, armed dudes are deputized against criminal activity.  It will soon degrade into riot control against hungry protestors.  And eventually you will be unwilling foot soldiers fighting for the local politician in the New Feudal conflicts.  You won’t be fighting to save your family or home but as foot soldiers keeping the local baron in power, or helping him get into power.  History is against you, sorry.  American militias as dictated and/or allowed by government is merely free armed forces for the elite.

*

Okay, we are done with that.  Now on to food control.  I want you to think about a few things.  Indians on the reservation or independent as the buffalo was eradicated.  The widespread malnutrition during the Great Depression ( when most folks farmed-or, at least they did prior to eviction ).  How zoning and taxes work against you farming for calories, 90%+ of the time.  And do not forget this last drought along with a two decade old grain shortage.  Not to mention corporate farming centralized.  Now, tell me how food control was never used and never will be.  Go on, I’m waiting.  Any one?  Bueller?  Lack of gun control, at least the aspect leading to your deputization, will certainly endanger you, but food control will be no picnic either.  Food surplus now keeps the masses in line, not gun control, and that is 99% petroleum oil dependent, from fertilizer to transport and storage.  But the food we grow and eat is already centralized in the hands of just a few big players ( I’m not speaking of the centralized selling of convenience foods-Nestle and Phillip Morris or whoever-but basic commodities ).

*

Care to bet how long it will take for that industry to be under the control ( if not the profit ) of the government?  Remember Nixon and his control of the industry back when?  Under the guise of combating inflation, he encouraged consolidation for price savings.  And that was an industry more decentralized than now.  It would be much easier today, faster.  Don’t forget that.  History shows food being used as a weapon time and again.  How could it not?  Food is everything.  Riches and sex don’t hold a candle to it.  We killed the buffalo off to starve out the Indians we didn’t want to spend money on defeating militarily.  We didn’t offer all that much food for the hungry during the Great Depression, fighting with food any inclination to rebel ( they were starved by the time it was known they needed to fight back.  The Depression was denied not to keep the investors in Wall Street but to keep the poor from taking to the streets.  Realization came AFTER they were already weakened.  Food relief and make work programs came after that ).

*

Profit maximization is primarily why you are kept out of the competition growing your own food, but not the sole reason.    You are allowed to grow supplementation, but not allowed complete calorie independence.  The government and the corporations want to keep that control, and taxes and zoning and regulations keep 99% of us dependent.  The corporations need the profits and the government needs the control.  Obviously, food independence can be done, but so can complete personal freedom.  The cost is merely held to be too high for all but a niche minority.  Most play the game.  Work for pay chits to buy food or die.  Yet even most nearly independent on food are completely dependent on oil from overseas, so their independence is largely illusion.  The troops are kept overseas for food energy, more than anything else ( just because it is all profit orientated now doesn’t negate this as a necessity ).  And you pay all of life’s idiot bills such as paying twenty plus times what a home is worth or getting sodomized over auto ownership, basically to stay close to the food chit job.

*

If you can’t see how complete the control over you is, mistakenly thinking asparagus cultivation as food independence, why, how about another brochure on that bridge I’ve been trying to interest you in?  Which kind of ties in with Yuppie Scum Survivalist food storage, doesn’t it?  They are completely dependent on both staying at their corporate employ AND being reliant on high technology foodstuffs.  They are more controlled than poor peasants with a sack of grain.  I had to throw that in.  Sorry.  I think.  And how about that “homesteading” movement?  Thirty year mortgages make you so NOT food independent.  Before you can think about freedom and independence you need to understand how you are enslaved.  You are both confused about gun control and about food control, completely living in an Orwellian DoubleThink existence.  War is peace, control is freedom.  Most of what you are doing to make yourself independent is tightening your chains.  Does this suck?  Of course!  But action without enlightenment is control.  And enlightenment without action is still slavery.  Damn, this thinking crap is depressing.

I'd rather be depressed with the truth than jubilant from the lies.

You can ignore principles but you can't ignore the consequences of ignoring principles.

  2. Agreed, as far as I understand you. In 1958, as a very young Marine, I purchased my first new vehicle, a 1958 Chevrolet. The sticker price was $1995.00. I paid the required sum down and received a book of 36 payment coupons. I paid one, as required, each month. Two years later I wanted to sell that POS and buy a Volkswagan.

I was told by the dealer that I would have to pay him to take the Chevy off my hands because it was not worth what I still owed on it. That was after TWO years of making payments.

OK, I was very young and had not the slightest idea how the system worked. I paid considerable to learn.

I decided never again to pay interest on anything. And I haven't. Whatever I wanted, I paid cash, if I had it. If not, I waited. Owned a number of homes. Bought the first one with money I saved living in barracks. I always paid cash.

Who adds up the payments on that 30-year mortgage? Or, these days, a six year payment schedule on a new car?

These days I have plenty of money for anything I need or, indeed, want. I attribute that condition, in great part, to never paying interest.

Nevertheless, I have watched many people forge the chains of wage slavery, link by link; calculating how much more debt they can leverage with a $10.00 a week pay raise.

It is enough to make you weep.

    1. Getting screwed with debt is a great learning experience-the wonder of it is folks don't learn from it. The ex, who earned extra from me sending her to school and the ex-wife tax, was in debt and paying rent, for almost thirty years straight, only stopping reluctantly as she ran out of credit, and now probably married only because it is necessary. HA! My nipples tighten.

    2. Yes, yes; rent is to be avoided just like debt. The notion to get into ones head is that you don't come close to needing all the crap the marketing industry shows you.

      Basics, basics!

    3. You can still have plenty of crap, just not what amount they imply. Or, the KINDS they imply. No car, no rent, but plenty of your hobby toys you save cash for. I make fun of Uber, they use the Amazon method of profit, but they did get popular for a reason. Some folks at least get the car issue.

    4. Long ago and far away when we purchased our first new home we were advised to not be swayed by total costs of the home and any incidentals. We were only supposed to consider the monthly payments for the PITI (principal, interest, taxes, and insurance). THAT is the amount we have to live with, not the total cost. Besides, the average homeowner moves every 7 years so that total selling price will never be recognized by the original buyer.

Sitting on the porch thinking about this stuff recently I thought, this is a helluva deal if you can swing it. You build a house and sell it to someone for 360 identical payments and after 7 years they sell it to someone else and the loan starts all over again, the house never gets completely paid for and the original lender keeps receiving payments in perpetuity.

  3. First off I want to say excellent blog! I had a
quick question that I'd like to ask if you do not mind.
I was curious to know how you center yourself and clear your mind before writing.

I have had a hard time clearing my mind in getting my ideas out there.
I do enjoy writing however it just seems like the
first 10 to 15 minutes tend to be wasted simply just trying to figure out how to begin. Any suggestions or hints?
    Appreciate it!

    1. I've been writing for twenty five years and it started out very hard as I'm not a natural. I had the same issue. It goes away with time, but that isn't what you want to hear. The one thing that helped me above all others is a schedule. If I must write every day, and X number of words, I have a much easier time starting. Your brain can't use the excuse of not knowing. It HAS to produce or I'll keep it there and it wastes time. Other fun stuff to do, let's get this over with! Plus, writing in a Conversational style ( like you are BS'ing with a buddy on the porch ) let's you ease into the main topic with barely related topics. Almost like telling a joke in front of the crowd before a speech. Hope that helped somewhat.

    2. My informed advice is to start writing, even if it is write something stupid, such as "I can't think of anything to write about.' Keep on writing.

The trick is in the editing.

  4. Growing all your own food is relitively straitforward process, just a lot of hard work. Peasants have been doing it for thousands of years. Most famins of the world are caused mainly be war civil disturbance. Peasants can usually cope with fire, flood, drought and pestalance, thats there lot in life, but they cant cope with maruders who steal there havest, slaughter there livestock, rape there women and carry of there kids. Until the comeing great sheeple die of has run its cause, trying to growing your own food will be like painting a taget on your back. The only way around this is to have stored food, a hiddy hole to hide in and a rifle to point out the opening to keep back the brigands. You sir, lord Bisson, is one of the few that gets this. Live on preps to the dust settles then crewl out from under the wreckage and start the whole process of becomeing a peasant.

    1. I only get this as I'm extra double top secret paranoid. And even then I don't think I'm paranoid enough.

    2. Peasants have been growing food, but they learned from friends and family. Today they are learn just enough to operate a microwave. Pans are for peasants.

    3. You sure nuff ain't paranoid as much that you should be. How many in Elko know you have food stashed ?
Even if only fifty of them read your blog. How many of those know where the POD is located . Not that big an area to search finding it ,in that little town I reckon...
Should never have stated on the blog , what town you're located in my friend. Just my opsec opinion for whatever it is worth lol
Personally I tend to keep my place of stash , a very tightly held secret. To only those I'd wish to hunker down with.
Ah but the price you pay for literary fame eh.

    4. You do have a point. I just never considered it all important. The odds are good no locals read me. If they do, they know they will need to fight to get buckets of wheat and ammo they can't use. Will many, initially, see that as a gain? Eventually, sure. They won't have other options. Most folks here earn good money and I have a hard time believing they won't be better prepped than me. I'm probably wrong. Just as I'm probably wrong enough will leave in time. So much for paranoid enough.

    5. Yes very true Dennis, peasants usually get alot of on the job training on how to keep from starveing. Were as kids to day get alot of on the job training on how to google porn. It will be a steep learning curve were looseing = death.

  6. Personal freedom is still obtainable with a few caveats. But you have to be willing to live a lifestyle that practically no one today is willing to live. Junk land, low cost alternative housing and utilities, no bills, and an absence of many luxuries that most take for granted, but generally aren’t necessary (you’re one of the few that I’ve even known that’s managed to pull it off, if only for a short while). And you have to go far enough out where you don’t have to worry about some ass whore dropping a dime on you to the local building gestapo.

I remember the good old days (In this case, I’m talking about the 1980’s) when I was a young man. All that I needed was some tasty Bud (The alcoholic beverage) and some cool buds (the plant) and I was fine (Spicoli reference, slightly modded). The FM radio was the favorite source of entertainment for us potheads, and throw in a few Loompanics books, and a few choice magazines, and all was well. Back then, I would have found it easy to disconnect from society. These days however, I might find it more difficult to function without the internet. I can no longer recall what life was like when you were not able to simply “google” the answer to the question?

Oh well, the web is mostly turning to crap anyways, and the recent round of political events will eventually insure that any sites that do not kowtow to the pc police, will eventually disappear under the justification of “hate speech” including this one at some point I’m afraid. Be prepared to go to the dark web, or back to the newsletter at some point Jim (I’ll subscribe).

    1. Well, needing to go back to print has been on my mind a lot. I hate the Internet for its tether. Anti-off-grid. Not saying I want to, as I'm not sure how many folks I'd lose. $2 a month for the same page count, on CD's mailed, with $1 cost and $1 profit should be a good deal for most, I just don't know how many would bother.

    2. It would probably be a slow transition to start. It might start off as an E-newsletter, then eventually go to print.

I suspect that most here would subscribe if it came down to a censorship crackdown. I was actually serious about that, as this is something that I see coming to a town near all of us, and sooner rather than later. For anyone doubting this, look at what happened after the one dude shot up a black church. We lost a television show and the flying of a certain flag over that one. The Charlottesville incident will likely bring us even more wonderful totalitarian legislation. It will start off with the big fish, but eventually they won’t be content with just that. There was another blog that I followed; really pretty tame overall, and he made the list of a certain group who’s name I won’t mention, because I don’t want search bots to pick it up and draw unwanted attention to this site. Now that I think about it, a certain very popular fascist search engine put the screws to the cheap-ass-living dude, and he never posted anything bad that I can recall.

But yeah, I do fear for what the future will bring...

The blog author mentions it here:

    3. The first censor would probably be blogger itself. I'm not sure I could go to a paid web site. The one time I had a big surge to my site I used up all the allotted bandwidth in one week that took up a big portion of my pre-paid year. And it wasn't even much more than a text page, I think. Long ago. All we can do is play it by ear-you hope they remain incompetent and get surprised when they get serious. As corporate Google just showed us, even the most scholarly analysis, with a sacrifice to the PC gods, still gets censored. The good thing is there are many options.

    4. Yes, I think that would almost certainly be the case with Blogger. Eventually, it will be government mandated in the form of “hate speech” laws. But in the mean time, corporate “little brotherism” serves quite nicely.

I gave up using google just recently, and went with a different search engine, partly for the reason that you specified above. That, and I was getting sick of the daily pc sacred cow tributes on the main page, as well as being spied on.

    5. Little Brotherism. I like that.

    6. Thanks, but I ripped it off 😀

I meant to mention it in my last post, but even the paid for blogger sites aren’t always safe anymore. After the Charlottesville incident, one big name domain server dropped some of its non-pc accounts. That’s what I meant in my original comment about having to move over to a newsletter someday. Though in your case, I think as long as the internet is up and running, an E-newsletter will serve you well.
