Yesterday we left off explaining that non-Southern and non-Black ( and non-Latino or Indian ) Americans were a tribe, and in a tribe you gain the security and economic advantage of the tribe and in return you bellyache and bloviate if you don’t like something the Chief does but you still go along with it because it is indeed a reciprocal loyalty.  That is why you didn’t see much protests in toto against all those clear moves from Republic to Democracy, towards imperialism and other idiocy.  That was why the on the surface propaganda efforts had such effect.  The members just wanted a reasonable explanation for “war time, emergency” moves and gladly accepted the excuse.

After all, they are tribal members and WANT group consensus.  Why do you think the Liberals and PC Brigades and multiculturalists and Cat Ladies all look like some retarded pulsating group of unthinking robots?  I hate to break it to you, but that is what a tribe looks like.  The group acting as one.  Really, to be honest, an unthinking illogical mob.  Why do you think Blacks do as they do, those incomprehensible actions like any nerds being group pressured ( Black Nerds-almost an oxymoron.  NOT because they are stupid, but because Black Tribal Behavior demands “home-schooling” as it were and to accept the White schooling is to accept White rule )?

Why do you think Muslims engage in those silly games we find incomprehensible?  You can insist with a straight face that genital mutilation and child brides and all the rest are because they are Muzzies or barbarians or just straight up bare assed savages that the earth needs cleansed of, but then you are just proving you have no concept of tribal dynamics.  You understand that cultural conditioning is how you are taught reality, yes?  Why do you think polar opposites politically here never understand or work with one another?  They are from two different tribes.  You cannot understand another tribe through the filter of YOUR culture.  This isn’t rocket science, kids.

Look, your past defines you.  Your brain is programmed from your past experiences.  And instructing a child in the culture they live, living that culture, punishing the child for non-conformity, THAT is the reality to that person.  Period.  THAT is the lens they view reality through.  To me and you, NOT owning a gun is as retarded as keeping a semi-tamed lion unchained sleeping in our bedroom at night.  We know if we did that we wouldn’t wake up one morning very soon.  That is reality.  Nothing you say can change our minds.  It is what is.  To others, growing up in a culture of guns being evil and as dangerous as possible, the gun itself being possessed by Lucifer himself and able to force otherwise good men to do evil, they wouldn’t own a gun if they were surrounded by angry mobs, with no cops in sight.

You cannot tell them, “a republican is a democrat that got mugged” or “higher gun ownership make for safer places to live”.  That is not their reality.  To them, that makes as much sense as eating the brains of their dead enemy.  Reality is what you are taught and what you experienced and it is NOT what is logical except in the context that culture is adaptation to local circumstances.  It certainly isn’t logical through another cultural lens.  Tribes act stupid, in the view of outsiders.  But by acting in their group interest they are acting quite rationally.  And group think and mob action have the very real benefit of group cohesion and solidarity.

So, stop trying to figure out your enemies ( liberals, Blacks, Europeans, Muzzies ) through your cultural lens.  It is frustrating and makes you look silly.  And understand that until Vietnam, ( approved list ) Americans were a unified tribe.  Why was the tribe only unified for a century, from the end of the War Of Yankee Occupation to the beginnings of Vietnam?  I think that a few things made a perfect storm.  First was economic.  By the end of the Fifties our economy started getting into trouble.  It wasn’t huge, yet, but it started cracking the unity.  By the sixties, civil rights started getting legs.  Here you are, a White tribe member, and suddenly your leaders are telling you they decided those of color should be admitted to the tribe?

This isn’t racist in the context of skin color.  It was about a non-tribe member.  Granted, urban Blacks acted like Oreos.  The separate Black Ghetto culture had not yet been born or widely accepted.  So, yes, at that time color was a marker for a non-member and folks reacted to skin color alone.  But they treated White Southerners the same, so it was tribal centric.  Same as it is now, the difference being there is also hate but also the new element of fear.  White Flight didn’t begin until the government gave Blacks permission to Mau-Mau.

And third, the war in Vietnam.  This war wasn’t any more retarded than most others.  It wasn’t strategy that made it a bad idea to fight it.  The Hippies didn’t suddenly decide to stop dying in wars for no reason.  What kid in his right mind that has no desire to fight would voluntarily go to war?  Those FORCED to go by group pressure would go, wouldn’t they?  So the difference this time was that those at the top decided that this war wasn’t going to be equalitarian ( like WWII was-everyone of all classes went ).  Daddy Warbucks was enlisted just like the peasants in the last war.  Sure, the old fat guys went into admin, but rich kids were in combat.  Perhaps they were fighter pilots like Bush, and perhaps like Bush they were screw-ups and got folks killed, but that wasn’t a class thing.  Even if those of privilege weren’t infantrymen, it was a pretty equal effort by the entire population.

But in Vietnam, those at the top only wanted a war to get them out of a severe economic depression.  It wasn’t a world war requiring that the total population be mobilized into the military effort.  It was just a small war with huge resources thrown at it to restart the flagging economy.  They thought, no problem, let the peasants fight it.  No need to send Richie Rich this time.  So there you have the rich kids protesting the war from college which keeps them out of the fight.  The poor Southerners are conscripted, as are those in the North.  Most of the Southerners are gung-ho and patriotic ( having been brainwashed on Yankee school propaganda ), until…

Facing a manpower shortage because the economy had done so well with Union wages and modest and fair corporate pay and profits, not as many folks were poor anymore, they sent in a lot of Blacks to fight.  Whoa!  The Blacks didn’t have any reason to fight, as they had been kept in poverty and weren’t sharing in the tribes treasure.  The Southerners went gladly into the fight, but now they get Yankee Sumbitchen officers telling them they had to fight with the Blacks?  That MIGHT have worked out okay-after all the two races lived side by side back home.  But while crackers and hillbillies are a militant culture, the Blacks were not ( at least not for Whitey ).  Why would a trooper want someone watching his back that wasn’t interested in fighting?  Of ANY race.  It was more of a tribal than racial difference.

At the same time, perhaps because of the draft, you get Blacks being given jobs on the automobile assembly line.  This is another strike against the White leaders.  Now the best paying jobs in the country are going to NON-tribal members?  It could have just been a trickle, but anyone with eyes viewing the population migration of Blacks to the industrial centers in hopes of Union jobs can see the future when they get kicked out for cheaper labor ( the perception was what mattered ).  Now you have all these culture shifts that worked together to endanger tribal unity.  Continued tomorrow.
