PECKING ORDER
*note: I put this in yesterdays comments and thought I should add it here for more eyeballs.
There is a video on PVC testing for bows. It seems a lot of manufactures have Gone Cheap and they are getting more brittle. Take the pipe, whole, not yet flattened down with heat or stuffed with reinforcing fiberglass rods, and tap the end with a hammer, against a chunk of metal. If the pipe chips off, don't use it as a bow. If the hammer bounces back, it is good.
*
You should check out www.epsilontheory.com. Sometimes it makes your brain hurt, but he is
THAT good. The recent article was on the
pecking order of chickens and humans.
Ours has been disguised so that the violence is hidden, but in short,
chickens further inequality of food with their pecking order and humans
encourage inequality of wealth ( which is used to buy food and health care and
shelter ) through the pecking order. He
gives the example from two movies, Glengarry Glen Ross and Office Space. In the first, “second place is a set of steak
knives and third place is You’re Fired” and in the second, there wasn’t enough
birthday cake to go around.
*
The first movie shows the
blatant punishment of all for the benefit of the few. This is NOT how our pecking order works. Instead, as in the second movie, we are all
given comfortable chairs and cake ( except a few, who get neither cake,
offices, OR staplers-seriously? Watch
the movie. I’ve never seen a better
depiction of corporate culture ). The
problem with our fantasy depiction of the pecking order is that we are lulled
gently to sleep as inequality has relentlessly marched towards French
Revolution levels ( I’m not trying to engage in hyperbole here. As long as the safety net of welfare and the
bread and circuses of corn derivatives and Net delivered TV last, inequality is
for most people a non-event. It is the
brutal aftermath of their demise I speak of ).
*
Another problem is not
just the Elite directed propaganda. It
is our own self-delusions, as we lie to ourselves that the pecking order doesn’t
exist. I try to point out the history of
this, and rather than thanked profusely by getting a ticket tape parade, I’m
accused by far more than one of having a convoluted and queer interpretation of
history. I don’t blame anyone for
wishing to skip my view of history. It
means all your comfortable assumptions are wrong. And we can’t have that, now can we? Nobody likes to admit they’ve been eating out
of their own ass.
*
But this isn’t a dingus
measuring contest. I love to think I’m
always right ( although believe me, I know better ). But that isn’t the point. If you fail to see the threats, you leave
yourself vulnerable. And you can get
hurt. All I’m doing here is trying to
get you to view history through the lens of a paranoid. You think I’m a paranoid schizophrenic. No, JUST paranoid. And the fact of the matter is that you or I,
we are NOT special, or equal or gifted with God given rights or are exceptional
or are Baby Jesus’ chosen few. We are
just at the bottom of the pecking order ( in our society, if not in the global
ranking-although that will come soon enough ).
*
The poor have stayed poor,
the rich are much richer and the middle class has lost everything gained, a few
debt ridden doo-dads and electronic contraptions away from being poor. Again, I’m not saying the New French
Revolution is right around the corner.
Losing the middle class is merely a return to a historical norm. The middle class is just a colonial empires
temporary holders of excess surplus. As
the surplus shrinks, those in power have no choice but to withdraw that surplus
so they themselves don’t have to suffer.
And hell, we haven’t even really had a real middle class for many
decades now ( not just the last decade since the ‘08 collapse ). House equity, an illusion only fostered by surplus
anyway, were the only assets the middle class had ( electronic promises of
stored wealth such as pensions were always fairy dust ), leaving them with
nothing but debt to pretend they weren’t poor.
*
The whole point here is
that your position in the pecking order is clear but you choose not to see
it. All your life’s work is endangered
by that illusion being realized. But
denial simply means you don’t see the danger now, giving you time to react with
a modicum of insurance to make the inevitable crash more of a slide than a
free-fall. You cling to the debt toys
which enslave you. You are working like
a dog to service your debt. Only the
bankers appreciate it ( the wife doesn’t appreciate it, but in fact expects
it. And guess what? Second prize with her is NOT a set of steak
knives. You’re fired! ).
*
The Protestant Work Ethic
is only rewarded in a middle class.
Which is only possible through colonial surplus resources. And our colonies are already imperiled by the
collapse of the PetroDollar. I can’t see
an entire alphabet worth of cause and effect links. I’m just showing you A, B and C. I can see them as self evident. You aren’t seeing them because you don’t
believe in the pecking order for people.
You think because The Constitution or God or Natural Law said so, you
are equal. You believe that because the
illusion was always reinforced through your life by a share of the wealth. You think the pie will always get bigger.
*
Well, guess what? The pie is shrinking. How folks can both believe they need to
prepare for the end of a civilization, AND think they won’t be effected by the
withdrawal of resources at the same time is beyond my comprehension. Well, I can comprehend the need to lie to
ourselves. Self-delusion is a human
trait. No one blames you for acting
human. I just think that if you have any
amount of self preservation, you could see through your own lies at least to a
small degree. But instead, you call me
full of crap for thinking everyone is out to get you, to hump you dry until you
gush blood. You think people are “fair”
or “just” or “fundamentally good”. Have
you been living under a rock your whole life?
*
Donald Trump is only out
for himself. Just like Hilary
Clinton. The central bank doesn’t care
about a stable money supply, but about its own payday. The NRA doesn’t care if you are allowed to
own a gun, they just want your membership dues.
Your boss doesn’t care if you work eighty hours a week, have a nervous
breakdown and die early or get divorced and lose your kids. He only cares if HIS paycheck is
fattened. I won’t even start on your
family’s attitude. I’m glad I used to be
trusting and needy for love or approval.
I got screwed enough times as a result that my blinders, if not removed,
were at least nudged aside. You mean
NOTHING to most people.
*
Once we re-tribe, yes,
your efforts will once again be rewarded and your security assured,
unquestioned loyalty the only price. But
above that level of organization, there is a pecking order and those on the
bottom are literally pecked to death ( if you don’t think tens to hundreds of
thousands don’t die yearly JUST on the medical industry profit plan, you haven’t
been paying attention ). If you can’t
see that, you can’t protect yourself.

* By the by, all my writing is copyrighted. For the obtuse out there
Yes, but there is a different pecking order, and it's about who undersands best what the world is really all about.
ReplyDeleteThose at the bottom are too distressed, have too little time, money and piece of mind to have a good grasp on the big picture. They have a medium understanding of human nature and phyiscal nature.
Those at society's top are too disconnected to be able to tell truth from fiction apart. They tend to believe what they read.
Now what we could call "middle class" is misleading. It is only the class that spends ressources to acquire information and to acquire means to process it. But there people like that in every social groups, so we could call them middle classes or something else entirely.
We survivalists think we know so well what will happen when the SHTF. In general we believe to possess a moderately sound view of what will happen within our social groups/family, at least, that is until you discover that 1. everybody is stupid and 2. you're more a category than a group.
Your wife will divorce you, your kid will do drugs, your in-laws will denounce you to the police just because they're jealous of you, your neighbour marries a ghetto type /welfare queen, etc. etc.
The contrary of a pecking order would be a tighlty run company of people, united by their livelihood, like nomadic reindder ranchers in Siberia or something.
We have been fed too many false stories about who we are to be able to go back to these functioning clanic groups. I also suspect these groups to not mind too much the intellectual stuff and focus on the core business, if not plainly keeping half of the tribe completely stupid. If in their worldview women are only half-stupid at best, why even bother to teach them anything at all ?
Like everything else, a return to a pre-lie existence will rely more on Darwin Selection than logic or intelligence. Expect On the Job Training with second prize being You're Dead.
DeleteMAN! you are on a roll with this one. I totally agree that almost everyone is- or at least can/will be - out to get you (not out of dislike or innate maliciousness, but out of hope they can bring up their own status in the pecking order, or worse their own physical well being - that's when they will get really ruthless) beyond your smallest closest circle at least, and even that can be questioned.
ReplyDeleteTrust and loyalty MUST be proven repeatedly.
Trust and loyalty must be proven repeatedly, this generation. Those born in post-civilization society will have tribal loyalty ingrained in them from birth. How do you do this? Shoot those betraying the trust and being disloyal, and the survivors will beat the lesson onto their kids. Which is for their own good, survival wise, which strengthens the tribe which makes survival easier. Not to say the pecking order will go away, but at least it is WITHIN the tribe, which is still okay. Better than what we have now-all pecking order, no tribal loyalty.
Delete"Donald Trump is only out only for himself. Just like Hillary Clinton"
ReplyDeleteWell, maybe yes, or maybe no. What I do see is Trump is already very wealthy and is over age 70. So the lure of corruption to make some extra $$$ is less than Hillary Clinton, who has proven many times she's all about the Benjamins.
I know - nitpicking.
No, nitpicking is encouraged. I'd say you probably have a very good point. Yes, Hilary did in fact sell her soul to the devil many decades ago, and has killed many people, and Trump is just pompus and greedy. Has he mellowed at an advanced age? Is he consuming the placentas of endangered species to keep his corpse reanimated? These are important questions. If not, he can afford to care less about money. Then, again, does Hilary even care about money, or is it just a means to an end? She probably bathes in the blood of her victims ( as did Obammy's husband, Michael, from the fresh bodies of Iraqi wedding bombings ) to stay young and appease The Dark Prince. The last batch must have been off, and it turned her into Alzhiemer Annie. She should have know Beezlebub would turn on her. Hmmm. It just seems simpler to avoid both as you'll probably be in the presence of evil one way or another.
DeleteSoap Plants.
ReplyDeleteYucca or Amole: For use, wash root and crush, then agitate in water until lather develops.
Lechuguilla: Shred root and mix with water.
Bouncing Bet or Soapwort: The juices of the plant form a soapy lather.
Missouri Gourd: The pulp of the gourds and roots when crushed in water, makes a cleansing, soapy lather.
Soapberry trees: The berries contain the soap, and a lather readily develops when the berries are crushed in water.
California Soap Plant: It hides its bottle shaped root in a covering of course, sackcloth fiber. When this is stripped off, it reveals the soap root. This can be used like a cake of soap, and since it has no alkali content, it is especially good for delicate weaves. Either fresh or dried, it also makes a fine shampoo.
Wild Lilac (Myrtle, Buck brush, etc) The fresh blossoms contain the lather, and they are nature’s scented toilet soaps, for they cleanse the skin, leaving it soft and perfumed.
Southern Buckeye: A soap that is particularly good for washing woolens and other fabrics. The fresh kernels of this plant, when ground up and mixed with flour, will stupefy fish if thrown into pools. The California soap-plant bulbs and the leaves of the Turkey Mullein, when crushed, will also daze fish to such a degree that they can be picked from the surface of the water. This kind of fishing however is forbidden by law.
Taken from P. 296, 297, 298, of the book Wildwood Wisdom, by Ellsworth Jaeger ( A dude so old, and a book written so long ago, that Mr Jaeger consulted with actual pioneers and Injuns that lived through the era).
Definitely sounds interesting.
DeleteNot particularly interesting, but it’s survival related. I recall the topic of soap coming up before, and how it would be a challenge to store enough of it, hence today’s post. Should also include natural antiseptics and antibiotics at a future date. Kind of hard to believe at times that penicillin didn’t exist prior to the 1930’s, and I’m surprised that there weren’t even higher mortality rates then there were for the time. I did post one time before, a recipe for insulin, and that one is worth a repeat.
DeleteYucca... DO NOT GO FOR THE ROOT! It'll stress and maybe kill the plant for only a couple days worth of soap and you won't be able to harvest any more from it. Take a green yucca leaf off the plant (hint: pull off a bottom one since they grow in layers), and a knife blade (or 90 degree spine) and scrape off the green stuff. What's left is the stringy part if you wanted to make cordage out of the yucca. (Some yucca rope has been found in the American southwest Indian villages still functional after 50-100 years). The green stuff you scraped off can be mixed with water and will provide your soap needs. Yes the root works, and works well, it's just overly wasteful. Yucca is referred to as "nature's hardware store" since it provides needles (leaf tips), high-quality rope, soap, and one of the best woods for starting a manual friction fire (it has a low ignition temperature).
DeletePeace out
I've Yucca all over my place. Where is the wood part?
DeleteThanks for the heads up peace out. As I mentioned, that book was written back when Christ was still a corporal, so some of the info is a little dated, though most of it still applies today, and is top notch info.
DeleteIt depends what species of yucca you have. Some are rosettes that never rise more than 1-2' off the ground. If there is a trunk to your species, the wood is located under the leaf layers attached to the trunk. Also, some species send up flower stalks annually, or once before they die. After the flower stalk dies, that's wood too. All yucca flowers/fruits are edible, some you can eat raw, others you have to cook before you can stomach them.
DeletePeace out
anonymous,
