CW to collapse 2

CW TO COLLAPSE 2
Anyone with half a brain wouldn't want to be a politician. It might look like they do nothing except stuff a suit, but they must stay very busy fund raising for the next election. Do you really think Corporation X stands outside a Congressman's office door at 6AM waiting for him to show up so they can beg him to take their bribes? Hell, no. Politicians are all chasing the lobbyists for a limited amount of paydays ( the former fantasy is sold by the elite so we buy into “a few bad apples” ruining the system. In fact, the system is designed this way ).
*
So, by definition, all politicians are flaming idiots. “Why yes, in point of fact, we WILL be around to take your AR's and AK's”. In and of itself, no big deal. Gun control is how they control us, even while we still are armed. What I find different is that at a time White Deplorables are in a state of heightened alert, this statement is made. Beto O'Douche didn't make this statement on his own. He is, even among fellow idiots, one of the bigger idiots. He was told to say this. Why?
*
If you have a feeling that a Civil War is being actively pushed, you would be correct. Everything done, from sending middle age male perverts into female restrooms at Target and having drag queen read to your children, to Red Flag “miracle speed enactments”, to the inflammatory Wal-Mart free fire zones and the public statements of “we want to kill all of you White humpers”, the elite are pushing for conflict. Not the communists, the Elite. Communists are dumber than dirt, useful idiots, as are MAGA brigades. To me, it seems like factions are arrayed against each other to cover the retreat of the moneyed class.
*
We have a LOT of illusions about life and about the collapse. Look at all the idiots led around the nose by an autistic girl, pretending Gore Warming is our only threat. Look at all the idiots who spew hate AT the poor girl, like she is acting on her own free will. Money was changed hands to a media whore couple who pimped out their daughter. They drank the Kool-Aid, and their daughter is driven into a state of perpetual panic over a political agenda she has no comprehension of.
*
See, it all makes sense. We need to stop Gore Warming, so let in all the Africans we can, put them on welfare and our Diversity will change the climate. Don't get TOO worked up over it. Let the idiots delude themselves. You have better things to do, like stockpile ammo and wheat. I think the civil war is coming. And you are kept busy looking at it politically. Instead of economically. We already lost the culture war, remember? We lost politically and economically. Yet, we still think we can fight for our economy, as if there is anything left to fight over.
*
Right there is one of our biggest delusions. We think the economy WILL collapse. We don't want to admit that it already HAS collapsed. As in, finished. I know this is where I'm going to lose everyone. They think, wow, high tech fracking. We will survive like some sorry ass country boy. Bitches, please! Fracking is OLD, as in 1947 ( it actually went back to 1866, but nitro wasn't replaced by a non-explosive until the 1930's. The 1940's saw data collection on each well determining inputs. Your “high tech” wonder techniques are nothing but 150 years of incremental improvements ).
*
Did you ever stop and look behind the hype? As in, fracking was nothing more than a panicked “production at any price, since we control the printing press”? Fracking is not proof we are saved, it is proof we were desperate to get any kind of energy into our imploding economy. Worked for the 1980's, right? Now, well, not so much. If fracking is so great, why is our economy sucking the biggest mule member? Why are all our corporations zombies? The next Sears or K-Mart? Why do boards keep hiring the same kind of CEO, ones that make profits off of dismantling rather than running?
*
Does anyone perhaps think it is all already over? We keep phrasing the discussion as if bad things have happened and worse things will. And yes, this is true. Going from dysfunction to collapse is worse. But the underlying assumption is that of TIME. As if we still have plenty of it. What if we don't? If we cannot time the collapse, why do we think the continuing decline is the middle of a downhill journey rather than the last lip before plunging over the waterfall? That is the problem with a waterfall collapse. The mist/spray and the roar of water blind us to exactly where the falls are.
*
A stair step collapse is actually comforting. We know we keep getting respites. A dystopia future is like a soft unicorn glitter pillow to rest our weary heads on. After all, a dystopia might mean Terrible Things, but they are a STEADY system of terrible. If the elite are evil, they keep us enslaved forever, as a profit center. That sucks, but at least it isn't a collapse. We are STABLE. That is where I think most people are happy being at, the preppers that weave this tale of a dystopian present. They know Trump isn't REALLY going to make 'Murica great again.
*
But that is okay, because he, supposedly, leveled off our descent into Spicy Times. Right, because the LEGAL immigration has been cut off, we have pulled out of Afghanistan, we have our gun rights and we have factory jobs again. Right? No. Cheetos Boy is in charge of the USS Titanic that has not changed its course one inch. Well, the rich bitches with their own boats that own the Titanic and control Captain Trump at the helm, they are actually in charge. But the captain gets to decide what music the band plays. Go Team Orange!
*
What makes me think the economic collapse is already here and that it profits the elite to place us in a civil war? Let's touch on the profit aspect and later double back on the assumption of “past tense economic collapse”. That will be its own article tomorrow. For now, profit. The wealth extraction has already been ongoing. Really, for fifty years. What makes you think there is anything left to steal? The elite are bailing out. Now. That is covered later. Why bail before every last red cent is picked off the barroom floor after the patrons get into a slugging match?
*
I think the elite know they have no other choice but to destroy nuclear armed America, from within, to save the rest of the world from a repeat of Fukishima, times ten to a hundred. From the day that Vietnam was lost, we have been on borrowed time as a colonial power. Once we lost the PetroDollar ( defeating Libya was our last victory defending that paradigm. Nothing but defeats followed that ), it was just a matter of time before our empire collapsed. Desperate powers in decline resort to desperate measures. Ours will involve red buttons and fallout shelters.
*
Do you kind of get the feeling that the elite are no longer trying to save this country? I do. I think they are abandoning the string pullers to fend for themselves. Their proxy rulers are actually on their own, without funding, and flaying about trying to save the system from itself. Such as when the Brits pulled out of former colonies almost overnight, leaving the puppets in actual charge ( witness the decades of blood after that, even though, yes, the Soviets helped in the carnage ). All these idiot politicians are actually in charge now, instead of the man behind the curtain. God help us all! But it is by design. The collapse is intentionally being accelerated.
*
Foreign invasion, designed pandemics, EMP's, even engineered economic collapses, they all take way too long. The nuclear genie could be unleashed. A civil war, now, that instantly diverts everyone's attention. Might this account for the tsunami wave of dissent we are right now witnessing? More tomorrow.

CW to collapse

CW TO COLLAPSE
I feel like a girl, unable to make up my mind. Do I just worry about a collapse? Do I need to be concerned first about a civil war? And now, will a civil war be the actual event that causes the collapse? The later, I will admit, I always scoffed at. My thinking went, well, that is just retarded. It is overpopulation and resource contraction that is the biggest concern. Politics, not so much. What am I, a MAGA or Libertardian dude now? Obviously, the context of the sarcastic statement should answer that for you.
*
The last few years since the election did pound home the point that, well, my views were far too simplistic. As Lind says, the cultural war is the most important. And, newsflash, we lost the cultural war. This should be so obvious I need not say anything about it, but I will because that must be accepted to then move on in this argument. We all understand that Marxism might have been encouraged by the Soviets or ChiComs, although most likely our own bankers ( well, as well as anyone can claim to own RedShield ) pushed for that for maximum divide and conquer.
*
That was fifty years ago. Thirty years ago it morphed into Political Correctness ( perhaps this was forty years ago, yet the public didn't get the memo. The Evil Forces didn't start controlling institutions on a widespread basis until thirty years ago. Fifty years ago the colleges fell, if not instantly at least quick enough to become the incubator for the blight ). Three years ago, all illusions of pretense were dropped and the Full Retard forces all attacked on all fronts. It was impressive, really, from a strategic view.
*
Political correctness had already wiped out the military culture when I joined in the early 80's. It didn't get to point it had actually neutered our forces until the Soviet Union fell. At that point, danger past, Clinton was allowed to nuke the military from orbit ( they had to be sure it was destroyed ). The gender wars had not stopped since bras first started to get burned. Police forces and fire departments were attacked. Whatever segments were not turned over into Grrl Power Brigades, were left to be fought over by Diversity Hires. Common Core and PC turned the public schools into white male depressive drug dispensaries.
*
Corporations were taxed by the forces of PC, which was just a tax on consumers since companies don't have their own money into these kinds of programs. Smokers funded the anti-smoking campaign, and gun owners funded the anti-gun program ( mainly through donations to the NRA, but also diverted funds from ammunition taxes, hunting licenses and etcetera ). Obammy wasn't actually that terrible of a communist, all things considered. Trumpty Dumpty has already passed more gun laws than King Kenya ever did. We already had our homo half breed immigrant as President, so they threw us an Old White Dude bone.
*
We just got boned instead. Trump was a protest vote. I get it. But why expect him to do anything else besides fulfilling that role? He is a rich dude. Rich dudes might have, at one time, been Randian hero's, delivering better goods for mans betterment. Aaaaannnd, it's gone. Businessmen today simply game the system to strip the wiring from the abandoned house that was the economy that was foreclosed on in 2008. You can cry about how even his own party is against him, but he is merely a Rothschild's meat puppet involved in Kabuki Theater.
*
The politics of this country are exactly like the boardroom of Wal-Mart corporation. Wally's customer base, the Deplorables, are mined for profit even as the company seeks to destroy them behind their back. Oh, we love hunters! Look, just like the Soviet Union, with the proper permits from the State, you too can own a shotgun! Oooohhhhh!!!! Hump you Wally, suck my dingus. But that is what “your” political party does. They whisper sweet nothings in your ear as they jam the dildo up your ass, using that as leverage for an even bigger horse dingus.
*
Yeah, Republicans use you as a horse sperm receptacle, and you scream out for more. Do you believe that any politician sees you anything more than a profit center and bullseye? Even the Libertarian Party makes sure to kiss the ass of the communists. They probably meet with the Pope to decide which White Enclave is the next destination for Ebola laced Congolese “refugees”. Do you get it yet? Your “opposition” political party works against you. Your boss/job works against you. Your church, for humps sake, is in league with Lucifer. The cops hate you.
*
Are plenty of them patriots? Sure. Does that stop them from jailing you when you are involved in a victimless crime such as drug use? When they receive a rubber stamped Homeland Security Threat dictate or a Red Flag notice? No. MIGHT they be on your side, when the rubber meets the road? They might. Monkey's might fly out of my ass, and a Playboy Bunny past her prime but still a GILF might want to be my sugar mamma. After all, I am cute in my own sort of contrary way. Anything is possible and if we give ALL patriots a free pass, we have to give LEO patriots one also.
*
The cops might be screwing you, but every gun owning flag waver out there talking tough but doing nothing is not exactly your friend, either. Are we supposed to believe THEY will nut up and fight, but the LEO's won't switch sides once things get bad enough? I'd wager you would be silly to bet on either contingent. But, I wander. Folks probably will see the light, once it's safe to do so. It isn't like anyone has a choice, given that if you want to work any job, you must wave the rainbow flag and minimize the waves you make.
*
So, we lost the culture war. The thing is, we lost the war for control of the country. This gives me hope. Because the state of the country is terrible. Think about it. The communists won control of Detroit, San Francisco, a college system teaching careers of zero use outside Diversity Hire Make Work, and a government that owes scores of trillions in pensions. They now own all that, plus a petroleum extraction industry that is aging and beyond redemption. They own millions of rickety mold boxes in suburbia, and corporations that are zombies to even the most casual observer.
*
How is that for the fruits of victory? Oh, and by the way, if you lust for and covet any of that, you are an idiot. It is a dying paradigm. The commies are chasing a mirage of a dream of what used to be. They pine for Past Pretties. Let them have it. Now, obviously, we still have to fight for our lives. Public statements, recorded for prosperity, White Deplorables are targeted for genocide. The thing is, we can destroy all that they lust after. We win simply by not dying. They lose as they lose their Booby Prize. Continued tomorrow.

bolt action AR-15

BOLT ACTION AR-15
Free conversion. First off, an apology to my true blue minions that subscribe to my newsletter, for this repeat subject. Bear with me, I'll babble on about the philosophy of bolts versus semi after I give the mechanics of conversion. Nothing you won't see in my book Apocalypse Gun Porn ( in BBBno2, free, link at my web site ), but with all the new readers perhaps a subject worth repeating. Plus, hopefully, someone somewhere finds this article through a search and I save them $60, they fall in love with me, tell all their friends, and I get a few more permanent readers.
*
To close off the gas tube on an AR, one normally gets an adjustable gas block they can close off. These typically run over $50. Here is how you can do it for free. Warning, proceed at your own risk, entertainment purposes only, not a gunsmith, blah, blah. Be an adult. Take responsibility. If this fries your face, it is YOUR bad. This is a hypothetical. Look at your A3 front sight ( an A shape with the little thingy poking up you aim with ). Look at the horizontal line on the A. Three quarters of the way to the right, as the rifle is laid down with the bolt release facing up, is a tiny hole.
*
Get yourself a pin punch. I believe it is a 3/32 ( yeah, commie scum, that ain't metric ). After removing the handguards, you punch out this pin ( you'll need a bench block-even homemade from wood ). Assuming you took out the bolt carrier group and charging handle, the gas tube can now be pulled out. It is snug, but will withdraw without a tool. If you had been looking down the barrel from the stock, the tube would have been inserted with the pin east to west and the gas opening facing south. You want to flip the tube upside down.
*
Normally, you cannot do this because a AR gas tube is not straight. It runs along then makes a slight jog up, perhaps a quarter inch, then runs straight again. What you have to do is duplicate that but in the opposite direction. Normally, the gas tube will curve north of the gas tube opening. You want the curve to be on the south of the gas tube opening ( NOT the opening at the receiver end, the opening at the front sight end ). Take a vise, and carefully straighten out the tube, then curve the tube the opposite way it was. Inserted into the rifle originally, the tube curved UP. You want to curve it DOWN. Then when you insert it correctly the gas opening faces up rather than down. Now, gases from the barrel hit a block rather than being allowed in to an opening.
*
It just takes a couple of small adjustment to the tube to reverse the curve. Don't force it, like when the wife finally gives you some loving. Just small bends as you keep placing the tube in the vise a few times to change the orientation. The tube is pretty strong, you will probably have to tap it with a hammer rather than pull on it by hand. Put it back into place to make sure the bolt group seats properly. Once satisfied, pin the tube back into place. One caveat, I don't know if you can reuse the pin or need a new one. They are 50 to 99cents at PrimaryArms.com so it can't hurt to be sure.
*
There should be zero issues with this hack. I've done it, but I have yet to get out and fire the rifle to be absolutely sure. At most, I imagine the biggest issue would be a bit of carbon build-up that might freeze the tube into place without cleaning ( as suggested by a minion ). There shouldn't be any gas blowing back on you. Of course, wear those safety glasses to be sure, if you try this. But just looking at your rifle this doesn't seem physically possible. Now, I can hear you screaming in impotent rage, why, oh why, would you want to neuter a wonderful rifle to “only” fire as a bolt action rather than semi-auto?
*
Easy peasy, little lemon squeesy. There is this little unloved tidbit of reality called logistics. Either in an apocalypse or even in a civil war, those extra rounds you just shat out will not be replaced. WWHHhhhhhhaaaaaaat?????? UNPOSSIBLE! We are 'Muricans, hear us roar, the tap of wasteful luxuries will never be turned off! We refuse such a paradigm! Suppressive fire is the ONLY tactic ever, and we insist on it! Francis, you poor deluded moronic fool, please relax. Sit down, deep breath. You and your way of life is hosed. End story. Get over it and move on. This ain't going to be your daddy's war. The ammo you came with to Spicy Times is all there is.
*
You can waste it, run out soon and die in one last bayonet charge, or you can nut up and realize your crap stinks like everyone else. You no longer get special consideration. THE APOCALYPSE REFUSES TO CHANGE JUST FOR YOU. Deluded humping snowflake mother humper. Look, if you have big bucks, stock the hell out of ammo and keep spraying and praying ( sorry, brain chemicals are outside your control. Under stress, you will jerk the trigger until dry ). Under my carefully calculated removal of a guess out of my ass, you should have four to five times the ammo for a semi as you do a bolt action.
*
And the minimum rounds you need for a bolt, going into a civil war followed by an apocalypse, is at least five thousand rounds ( or round equivalents with reloading ). So if you insist on semi-auto, that minimum is twenty thousand rounds. That is $4k of steel cased ammo to go along with your $400 rifle ( that assumes the price hasn't increased since I wrote this ). Not to mention all those evil high capacity magazines and gear to hold said mags.
*
With a bolt action rifle, your uncontrolled brain spazing out in panic says, in effect, one round, just one round! Make it count! With a semi, your brain is yelling at you to destroy the target before the target gets you. The same message it gave the bolt action user, but the process of destroying the threat is different. One is caution firing and the other is incautious firing. A bolt action is just a tool making your brain chemicals work for you rather than against you. AND, hello, logistics. And, as a special extra bonus, that darn AR is going to be a WHOLE lot easier to clean.
*
For poor people, with limited budgets for ammunition, a bolt action is just what the doctor ordered. All the rest of you Tommy Tacticals equating dingus size with the number of magazines carried, well by all means DON'T use the AR as a mid range marksman rifle. Just keep using it as a light weight but powerful submachinegun. And PS, Jesus on a pogo stick. Questioning your shooting skills is not questioning your manhood. Skills are skills. Nothing special about them. And we all suffered from uncontrollable brain chemicals. Please remember puberty and your Little Brain making all the decisions. Don't be emotional, Nancy.
*
( addendum-still haven't gotten out shooting.  Furnace, the roof breaking.  Definitely going, as the NOL expressed an interest and we all know shooting is the cement that holds preppers to The Dark Side.  My second conversion went fine, except I was a little off on the tube bend and I had issues feeding from the mag.  All I had to do was reach in with a screwdriver and move it a smidge over to center in the upper receiver and all was good.  Just a heads up to check actual functioning to assure proper alignment )
*
( Addendum, three months later.  As you are shooting and the rifle heats up, the gas tube is shifting.  I kept getting bolt jams.  Cut off just under an inch of the tube, on the receiver ( not front sight ) end.  Now it is flush with the receiver wall and doesn't mess with the bolt gas intake.  And yes, get new gas tube pins.  Also, the gas only travels up slightly from the gas intake, perhaps about an inch.  No worries about frying your face )

LB says money blows-post 2 of 2 today

LB SAYS MONEY BLOWS ( article 2 of 2 today )
Lizard Brain has been on high alert. First with the whole savings to assets ( which just started out as a spare savings to assets and then ballooned-but, as we know, Lizard Brain, LB, works in mysterious ways. Did that bastard screw up the Eight Zero project? ) and then with Saudi Arabia and then after nobody at all ever anywhere panicked, Baby Jesus said, what a bunch of dumbasses- how much of a sign do they need from us?, and then the bank liquidity started the next week. Yeah, hello, LB is screeching up a racket.
*
So, yes, OF COURSE I am telling you to panic. What am I supposed to say? No worries, mate, it has always worked out before? Now, true, I cannot JUST say panic. I have to qualify and amend. I cannot just tell you to panic and leave it at that. Not all of you are on the same sheet of music. You worry less. Some of you worry more, and have been fully prepped for twenty years. So I'll just tell you why I myself don't mind panicking early and avoiding the rush. It is only money.
*
Pretty simple. The money you spend panicking? What would you have done with it anyway? Put it in the bank? Put it in a McMansion? No matter what you do with your money, it is gone. The bankers get it through inflation, the government gets it through taxes as you consume. The wife gets it for mediocre sex. You WISH she was a hooker. Then she would take more professional pride. My NOL has most of the money, and I strive to satisfy her. How hard is it? “I'm an Independent Woman! Don't need no man!” Fine, move out of that nice house into a single apartment.
*
Anyway, money is a disposable tool. Like toilet paper. No matter how you wipe, it is better to say goodbye to the stuff rather than trying to keep it like a trophy ( “Eddie, you no house walking the dog mother humper, you don't pick up the turds. I'm using one for an end table” ). Who says, damn, I wasted $5.87 last month on toilet paper? Nobody. It is the cost of living expense that while you COULD save on, few people choose to. Even poor people use toilet paper, except they are napkins from McDonald's that clog up the pipes.
*
Why are poor people eating at McDonald's? Because of the free toilet paper, silly! You don't think a Big Mac costs $5 because of the 100% beef patty, do you? No, the paper packaging costs are going up. People are poor because they eat there, so they grab all the free crap they can. So the costs go up, leaving them poorer. Ah, the tragedy of the commons. Listen, do you remember what you made working as a teenager, forty years ago? Perhaps. Do you remember how you spent your money? Probably not, right?
*
Money is no big deal. You'll earn more in two weeks. Stop sweating it. Spend it. Go crazy on this prepper crap. If nothing bad happens, who friggin cares? You would have wasted it on something else anyway. Like McDonald's. Or Starbucks. Yeah, I know-chump change. The second worse survival advice ever, the Stop Eating Out And Stop Drinking Coffee Out advice ( the first worst is “don't just survive, thrive!” Don't get me started! ). Chump change, for chumps. You need to prep, you need to give up the really expensive crap.
*
Like privacy ( rent every room, live in the basement or garage ). Or the second car ( you can exercise AND get Bicycle Jacked riding through the ghetto ). I mean, who exactly are you kidding? The other three hundred thirty million fools out there also think that in bad economic times they also have to pretend to be successful, the Queen Hen, the peacock of the walk, and spend over what they have to “prove” it. Go against the herd, not with it. Herds are just targets for omnivores. Be different, have disposable income. We are entering an economic collapse, and you want to impress a potential trophy wife with your house and extra cars?
*
You think you need to keep the current wife happy, so she doesn't leave you and take the kids and half your income? So, you are okay with her cheating on you? Because that is what she is going to do as soon as you run into financial issues and she starts shopping around for someone to keep her in the lifestyle she is accustomed to. I guaran-damn-tee it. I will wager a jelly filled donut on it. If the bitch won't let you prep because she wants luxury, that is exactly what she is going to do. That is her personality type.
*
Believe me, you can prep on half of your income, even minimum wage. I've done it. You just can't have any other nice things. Did you know that 13% of the US population earns less than $5,000 a year ( I don't know if that is “working population” or just “total population” )? I'm proud to be part of that thirteen percent. I can STILL prep on that income. It doesn't matter how much you make, just how you spend it. But spend it we all do. Because we all know that worthless company script isn't going to be worth much of anything very soon.
*
Most folks spend hedonisticly. That yummy $5 Starbucks coffee drink. Not waiting for video or streaming but going to the theater for $12 a seat and $8 for popcorn that isn't even made with coconut oil anymore. The SUV instead of the rice burner compact. American cars instead of Japanese even though for the same price one lasts twice as long as the other ( this way, they can put US flags on the car and bloviate how they support the troops. As if NOT hating is the new Virtuous Signal. How do you like when communists wear that label, bitch? ).
*
All you have to do to prep is to NOT spend like a drunken sailor in Manila. Because everyone is going to spend their money. Everyone. The one guy who doesn't is a little creepy, like a child molester used to look before the Democrats tried to turn him into the new Peoples Hero for not being conventionally sexual. Don't those freaks, both the democrats and the perverts, just make your skin crawl? Do YOU want to be like a child molester? Chester The Molester. That is what you get if you don't prep.
*
You need a LITTLE money. Everyone needs a rainy day fund. But you don't need all that much if you are living frugally. The rest, spent on preps, is true life insurance. If this economic collapse news turns out to be the next Y2K, who cares? You have preps, now, cheaper than they will be. Or, your kids will eventually have them. Again, who cares? Everyone wastes their money. Do you want to waste it on consumer things or assets stackable things? Either way, it is GONE. Don't be afraid of panicking and over stocking. As long as you burn no bridges. Divorcing the whore? Not a bridge. You can get another one.
*
And guess what? A LOT of other ones actually like you not being a doormat. Quitting your great job? Not a bridge. Unless you love it, or cannot find another one. Nuking your credit score from orbit, so it never lives again? Definitely NOT a bridge. One of the smartest things you can do, living on cash instead of credit. And you'll save even MORE money as you avoid apartments that require a credit score. Trailer park, or rent a room. Cheaper, by far. Blowing through ALL your savings for AR's and Russian ammo? Yeah, that might be a bridge. Don't burn that one.
*
This is easy, common sense stuff, folks. Panic early, avoid the rush, but do it responsibly. And for humps sake, do NOT regret panicking early and often. It is your Lizard Brain working for you ( that monkey mind can work against you, in this day and age ).

Post apocalypse motorized bicycle project- Update 3

An update on the motorized bike.

I finally got around to installing the Staton friction drive on my bike. I was impressed with the quality of the kit, and consider the price to be very fair for what you’re getting. The kit with the 35cc motor is $360 at the time of this writing. You can also purchase the kit without an engine for $122. I chose not to go this route, because I wanted to be sure that I had a perfectly matched engine to the kit. My kit came with the Honda GX35 engine, but the dude at Staton told me that the Zenoah engine was also good.

Pictures

Performance

I am slightly disappointed with the performance. To be fair though, I think that a lot of it has to do with my attempting to push my heavier 29” bike, along with my 6’, 190lb frame, down the road with a little 35cc 4 stroke motor. I lagged when going up hills quite a bit, but I also did not try to go full throttle on it as of yet, since I’m still in the breaking in stage. From take off, I peddle up to about 5mph before applying the throttle. This seems to be less stressful on the system, and is also recommended by Staton for clutch preservation. In short, I need to peddle assist when taking off (Normal) and when going up even slight grades. So it’s probably best to look at this particular system, with this particular engine option, as a “motor assist”. For anyone planning on going this route, I’d recommend a lighter 26” alloy bike, and try to stay at 30lbs or less if possible. If you weigh much more than my 190lbs, you might also want to consider larger engine options. A sustained cruise speed of 15 to 18mph on flat land, is an easy pace, and no problem at all with this unit, using the .930 (7/8”) roller. This provides quite an advantage over a non-motorized bicycle, as the average cyclist cannot sustain this pace for longer periods, so the advantage is definitely there.

Other considerations

Where I live (California) you need an M2 motorcycle license and moped plates to ride an internal combustion motorized bicycle, however you do not need insurance. In many other states however, you are exempt from such requirements. So short of moving out of state (Which I’d highly recommend) another option, if you can afford the extra cost, is electric. As long as you’re at 750 watts or less, you are exempt from the licensing (link below)

Consider a girl’s bike for this project

Here’s the thing. When you get to be a little older, as am I, swinging your leg over a tall 29” bicycle (And perhaps even a men’s style 26” bicycle) starts to become a chore. The girls bikes are a step through design, which eliminates this hassle. Just be sure to paint it a masculine color, put on your meanest looking scowl, perhaps hang a pirate flag from it (Taking great care not to accidentally choose the “ass version” of said flag) and hope for the best when cruising the rural neighborhoods :D Just remember that while the girl’s style frame will work with a friction mount, it will not work for a frame mount motor, which requires a large, open space, in the frame, and forward of the seat, should you decide to go this route instead.

Conclusion

Would I do it again? The short answer is probably not. I probably would have got a dual sport motorcycle instead. The motorized bicycle would be the perfect option for many people however. I would say that if you require, or wish for performance beyond what the standard friction drive can provide, that you too should probably consider moving up to a motorcycle. If you need off road ability, then you want either a dual sport, or one of those off road moped/scooters, that have more recently made the scene. If you plan on mostly staying on pavement, then something like a 50cc to a 150cc scooter would be a good option. If you are on a limited budget, but have good mechanical abilities, then a Chinese scooter can be a good buy. If you are like myself, and do not wish to constantly be maintaining and tinkering with it, then you have no choice but to save up and spend more for a used Japanese scooter/motorcycle.

All said, I’m not really regretting my decision so much. I think that it will serve me well.

Future projects might include a bicycle sidecar, and a teardrop camper. In the case of the sidecar, if I were to buy/build one, I would probably add a cheaper electric motor assist to it, to help ease the strain on the little Honda engine.

401 mKay part 3

401 mKay part 3
Way back in part one, prior to babbling incoherently, I mentioned that you should choose to cash out your 401K based on one criteria. What was your Lizard Brain telling you? You may think this is simply a cop-out on my part, trying to not answer your question. But as high as those stakes seem, you had better start listening to that bastard, and feeling confident about it, because you WILL be betting your life on that soon enough. The Lizard Brain, for you newer readers ( and God alone knows how I attracted and retained them, with my track record of offending and repulsing so many ), is your primitive warning system.
*
Lizard Brain is the part of the brain we mostly shut off in order to survive and prosper as a group. LB does NOT care for group dynamics. He is selfish and not very smart. But he knows danger, exactly because he DOESN'T trust anyone else. LB, which you know as “gut feeling” or if you are a bespectacled nerd boy, “spidey-sense”, subconsciously gathers information and notifies you of danger you hadn't noticed. After being screwed over enough times, I learned that I was NOT as smart as I thought I was, and I started learning to listen to my gut. It has served me well.
*
If Lizard Brain is telling you ( NOT your rational decision making based on above board intelligence gathering part of your brain-which is REALLY tainted by the need for group thinking ) to hold on to savings to weather the tough times ahead, listen to him. If he is telling you to liquidate and go long on survival assets, listen! He can always change his mind, so listen within reason. You know, hedge all bets. LB is always right, even if the exact fear didn't materialize. His job is to sense danger, not actually see the future.
*
Now, your rational/analytic portion of your brain, he can help with refining the danger warning signal. That is why we incessantly babble on about minutia here. To help fine tune the fear response. I think that is where there is a lot of confusion in the doomer community. We allow others personal lizard brain to short cut to our own, almost a herd startling event. George panics and his rantings, usually dismissed as Fear Porn Posturings, get you all excited and you also panic. And on this, I really have to give my minions True Love. You all completely ignore my ravings, focusing on solutions only.
*
This is as it should be. Don't ignore your own lizard brain and listen to someone else's. That is just silly. That is what we do when we are young, not having realized we have a lizard brain, only focused on being adopted into a group ( which is why younguns make great military cannon fodder ). This is why popular fad survivalist movements look so silly ( Tri-States philosophy, another philosophy based out of Idaho ). They are group herds panicking on the signal of the guru.
*
As I said, no matter what you do, you are going to lose. The point is not guaranteed security here, but personal peace of mind to the extent you can manage it. Isn't that what ALL preparations are? If you keep your cash, the invading barbarians ( which in Rome were actually invited in, first, just like now here ) cannot seize it. But your leaders can and will. But switching to assets, the hordes can steal what you protected from the bankers. You could end up just stockpiling for someone else.
*
Tangible Assets are not only not liquid, they are easily liquidated by force. Paper wealth, now that it is all digital, is easily spendable, and just as easily “disappeared”. Hell, it might even already be, and you'll only know when you attempt to spend it. NOT buying tangibles, you could starve while cash rich. NOT keeping your wealth in the banking system means you can be ejected from the modern living arrangement. I would say that is the exact reason the police were allowed asset forfeiture.
*
The well publicized injustices actual serve the elites, as it is a cautionary tale to the masses to avoid cash under the mattress. You are cautioned against ignoring your credit score. In other words, trust us with your money, or our security forces will remove your wealth by force. Still think those lovable LEO's who asset forfeiture or Red Flag you will be on your side come the civil war? They love to TALK about observing the Bill Of Rights, but they don't PRACTICE that. They practice taking the kings shilling. Every two weeks.
*
Let's switch focus back to assets. Not the regular ammo and wheat. The amounts and types of assets equal to a 401k. The three traditional types of wealth preservation by rich bitches has been, for many centuries, three things. Gold, land and painting. Gold because, duh. Land because food ( and income ). And painting probably because you need something liquid you don't have to dig up. These items transferred wealth down through the ages for continuation of wealth in families, weathering war and famine and technological revolutions. Now, we can automatically discount paintings. That is for the very rich.
*
And when poor people try to duplicate that, such as with classic cars or collectible comics or trading cards, the market is far too volatile. The Little People shouldn't dabble in Rich People Problems. But land, and gold, is easily duplicated. By a mortgage and silver. Everyone tells you, real estate. Can't go wrong. Can't lose-they aren't making any more of it. You mean, like in Detroit? Yes, currently, rentals are going gangbusters. Until the unemployment rate hits falling wages and exploding demand and you have Too Expensive To Rent mortgaged assets. Real estate is best left to Rich Bitches also, unless it is junk land to eliminate rent.
*
Silver is a can't miss investment. Except one thing. It is AN INVESTMENT. It isn't savings. It might not be liquid when you need it to be. An investment is where you park savings long term. Yield is only important if you are fighting inflation. Savings are there for rainy days. All Rich Bitch investments are for parking wealth, multi-generational. The paintings are probably more collateral for loans to escape a tight spot. Among other rich bitches. It is probably more of a gentleman's club arrangement. Don't try to emulate the rich. Exclusivity is built in to the arrangement.
*
A 401k is savings, to an extent. The penalty for withdrawal is just a stop on instant gratification. Is it an investment? I very much doubt it. In the end, inflation always wins. The bank stealing your 401k isn't even the issue. That is a problem with the system failing. Once they yank your 401k, you have much bigger problems than no savings. Like, riots in the street and famine. If you have assets rather than a 401k, THEN your problems begin, as they are targeted.
*
So, a 401k keeps your life normal until the system crashes, then your wheat and ammo stockpile keeps you, in theory, alive and in better shape than everyone else. There is another great thing about frugal preps. You don't NEED to cash out your savings to afford that. You can have your cake and eat it too. And remember, there is no right answer for everyone, just you.

401 mKay part 2

401 mKay part 2
( veering off topic slightly on the way to making a point ) Yesterday, after I had written the first part of this article where I finished up talking about rising crime, I get harassed by the police. Well, harassed is too harsh of a word. A very professional and polite city policeman questioned me regarding a complaint. Every department has its jag-offs, but I've basically only had good dealings with both the local and county LEO's here. These folks tend to be more relaxed when Disadvantaged Youth aren't shooting at them. Yes, they are more in your face here, as they are more proactive, but they aren't belligerent.
*
I'm walking the dog at a relatively late hour ( she wants two a day. The first one I usually conduct prior to sunrise, but then she eats and sleeps and is generally lazy as sin until she feels it is time for another outing ), and some woman, after turning and U-turning all over the intersection, pulls over and starts asking me about the location of a home for sale. I'm polite, even though I hate people. I figure confrontation will just make socializing escalate. She doesn't make a lot of sense, but then, few people do. I resume the walk.
*
Turning into the NOL's driveway, the city squad car pulls up. No one else is around, so he is obviously there for me, and I wait for him to exit the vehicle. I have no earthly clue what he could possibly want. He is questioning me about a stolen cell phone and that goes on for a time. It seems, supposedly, that its location tracks to me. And now the crazy bitches driving and weird questions make sense ( when she asks me “did you just make a call” I was confused, but I answered her. I thought you were looking for an address? She was pretty bad at ad libbing ).
*
After running my name through and making notes, well, that was that. Thank you for your time, Sir. I should add I only figured out the above later upon reflection. And yes, I say “never talk to the cops” but you can't clam up the first time one speaks to you. One pulls you over for a defective blinker, what are you going to do, demand a lawyer? That is for when things escalate, when you are detained. Yes, I know they can zing you on whatever you said prior to the Miranda reading-and they can also lie about that.
*
I'm amazed at people who still think they have rights or that they can jailhouse lawyer their way out of things. Just like in life, honey gets you more flies than vinegar. Being polite and helpful can help you more often than dismissing the police as your enemy. Which, they are. Absolutely. You just can't ACT like that. All scumbags love themselves. If you point out that they are scumbags, they will react violently towards you. Okay, a guy is selling booze.
*
Are you going to blame him for all the evils of alcoholism? No. He is just earning a living. THAT right there is how lawyers and judges and cops think of themselves. They are innocent. Only the system is bad. They are just and good and want to make a difference. It is all BS, self-justification. They are jackbooted thugs directly responsible for killing people. But social interaction is all a lie. Lies are the only thing allowing us to exist alongside each other. Never tell someone the truth! Not in a social setting ( friends and family get White Lies, not blatant untruths ).
*
Now, getting back to this deluded lady that thought her cheap ass phone app had pinpoint accuracy who was convinced she had me dead to rights in possession of her phone, as I walked along in sweat pants holding nothing, much less a phone, I can't actually blame her for being upset. I'm not sure how anyone can spend the big bucks on a cell phone, but when they lose it or it is stolen, they can't exactly blame themselves for spending $600 on it, can they? So they lash out and seek someone else to blame.
*
Call the cops! My property was violated! I can see WHY she did so. But here is the thing. The cops do not care. They could give two craps. Why do you think I never reported the crackhead thefts at my property? Because one, what are they going to actually do? And two, they could give a crap. No motivation. Plus, I like staying off the radar as mush as I can. But mainly, they simply do not care unless it impacts them, their funding or their job security. That is what cell phone lady didn't understand.
*
The cop didn't truly harass me because it was a BS call. He went through the motions. He could afford to be polite and only ask superficial questions. Crime is all over the place and the cops are not going to waste resources. They must prioritize. Remember in 2009 or thereabouts when a big city got its funding cut and they put out a long list of crimes they would only respond to if they had the time? Like that but more subtle. It is like the Post Office. Congress won't allow them to cut services on Saturday, so I swear they have roving “no mail” days where they cut out neighborhoods to de facto save delivery costs. The cops might respond to every call, but many get short shift.
*
This is how crime increases and the police are able to keep up with and make the crime seem less obvious. The illusion of control is there. So, property crime goes through the roof and hardly anyone notices or cares. It is just business as usual. The police are NOT an obstruction to its growth. Now, surely, you don't still think of your possessions as being as safe as they used to be? Yeah, the above story is more interesting than useful, but I just had to share. That is why I hate going outside the compound. But it SOMEWHAT illustrates the trend in our lives. Unless you are a secret squirrel, burying all valuables far away, nothing you have is safe.
*
We go on endlessly about the dangers of bug out locations being unattended and apt to be broken into. I contend that nowadays, even your regular home is not safe. If it isn't the government with its Red Flag Laws, its probably soon to have anti-precious metal laws, its current cash seizure practices, then it's the practice of either encouraging or at least not discouraging property crime and theft. This is to say nothing of the increased natural disasters. In short, your home isn't a very good castle anymore. Are assets THAT much safer than funds in the bank?
*
I distrust banks. I hate the weasel twats. But if assets in your home are not anywhere near as safe as they used to be, aren't you to some degree FORCED to deal with the bankers, to diversify your savings? And, to clarify, I'm speaking of multi-years worth of savings, not the small amounts likely to be around the house. If you wish to have liquid assets, are there better bets than a 401k? Anyone can spend all their money on whatever is deemed safe. Gold, paintings, real estate. But an investment is NOT the same as savings. Continued tomorrow.
