bitch liberty

BITCH LIBERTY

“Liberty is a bitch who must be bedded on a mattress of corpses”.  How cool is that quote?  I ran across it in a novel and they gave no source other than “by a French guy” so I imagine it was in regard to the French Revolution.  Now, please don’t read this article and be all stupid like certain Congress-Critters who hated the French because they weren’t interested in dying to secure another oil supply for our country and so we get all uppity and henceforth proclaimed cut and fried potatoes to now be Freedom Fries.  How embarrassing.  Don’t people in DC have a filter between their brains and their mouths?  I’d like to make a case that the French Revolution actually achieved far more for its people than our revolution did.  I’ve already said before that after the guillotines got done separating a lot of heads from atop royalties shoulders the common folk of France have since enjoyed a certain freedom the ruling class dare not tread upon.  Whereas in this country, home of Freedom Fries, home of Free Capitalism, we are “enjoying” a system of fascism that makes socialist France look a bit less restrictive.  And you can’t tell me the difference is gun ownership.  New York City has more restrictions than France and I would also make the following observation.  The people over there seem to be a lot more secure about their government, as they remain by and large unarmed, as we do over here laden down with multiple semi-auto’s per patriot ( I’m an outsider, obviously, and could be talking out my ass.  Although I doubt it ).

*

Dare I guess that over here we fear our government to the point all our guns will avail us naught and over there the citizens realize it doesn’t take guns, but will, to overthrow tyranny?  Of course guns help, a useful tool.  But all the ammo in the world doesn’t help much if you won’t pull the trigger.  Which is obvious, as years have gone by after the FedGov announced as casually as you or I going out for a loaf of bread that any citizen could henceforth be labeled an enemy combatant and held indefinitely without charges and the responding outcry sounds a lot like silence in a vacuum.  None of the macho plastic carbine carriers made a noise, neither verbally or from the barrels of their multiple firearms.  I’m not advocating revolution myself.  I’m content to wait for them to self-destruct.  Yet I don’t screech out about liberty while doing nothing about it.  All of us, every single 3%’er, every anarchist and libertarian, every Tea Bagger and Constitutionalists, we are all pussies who won’t lift a finger against our oppressors.  Yet we point quivering fingers at the French and call them weak and scared.  Perhaps we protest too much?  The French kicked the ass of their overlords, while we went into battle for ours, protecting the profits of the rich time and again, during our revolution, the Whisky Rebellion  and then the War Between The States.  Now the French still share in the wealth while we are bleed dry and must be content to eat government cheese under an overpass in a cardboard box.  We call the lack of rich overlords over there socialism and our wage slavery freedom.  Because none of us wish to lie on a bed of corpses, no matter how comfy that mattress.

  2. A fine piece of literary genius Lord James. I fear you are perhaps spot on. At what point do the 3%ers stand up? We are the frog in the pot of water that the government is slowly bringing to a boil. They tell us the same lies till the sheep believe it.

When I hear an idiot repeating the the economy is better and all is great I just shake my head. I am tired of arguing with them. I think some will eventually stand up but it will have to get much worse.

Happy New Year to you. May 2015 be good to your hair.

    1. Now, here, it is going to be just like the rest of the world- rebellion only after true hunger. All the freedom crap means zero to us with a belly full of nachos and beer.

    2. The people of the USA are suffering hunger- they just don't know it. Most of the food, is no more real than the wax fruits on your grannies table. This is part of why so many are so fat. Combined with screen hypnosis so many are overweight screen adhering slugs that will likely die before they can respond to total absence of even the fake food. I should know, I resemble the example far too closely for comfort. I go to a cubical farm every morning, stare at a screen, come home every night and stare at a (slightly less brain killing than average) screen next to my family. If I don't struggle hard to get a hold of organic fresh foods I end up eating corn syrup laden polysyllabic ingredient synthetic 'food', and always feel the worse for it the next day. That synthetic stuff is significantly cheaper than all but the most basic of ingredients for home cooked meals (rice, corn, wheat, potatoes, and beans). With cheap TVs, cheap synthetic food, and no realistic push for adult health, would it be any sort of surprise if the poorest population is too _out of shape_ to revolt and to brain dead to see the need before it is too late?

    3. Right, they are malnurished. But not hungry. The one thing our government is good at is keeping us down. They got this one right. Full stomachs make no revolution. If that full stomach causes cancer in thirty years, no one makes the correlation.

    4. Unfortunately the poor are also much less able to not only revolt but work, so when the time comes that TPTB need slaves in the salt mine they are going to have to start by getting the granola eating gym members, not the poor and working poor. And even there those gym rats will prove hard pressed to really WORK without fossil fuel powered machines to help.

  4. Lord Bison I thought that was one of your best articles in quite awhile. Did your minions come by the Bison Pit of Doom and groom our Lord both body and hairy to a new level of shiny-ness? That article summed up something that I haven't been able to put into words. Now Lord, remind me how I can send you a thank-you package.

  5. Lord Jim,
This has got to be your best post yet.
A few weeks ago some gun totin open carry enthusiasts were handing out pocket copies of the US Constitution in Arlington and other Texas cities. They packed the Fort Worth and Arlington city council chambers and were waving their copies of the constitution. They looked ridiculous to say the least.
The pro-gun crowd sure does like to quote Thomas Jefferson- “The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. God forbid we should ever be twenty years without such a rebellion…” But, that’s as far as their rhetoric goes.

    1. Course, to be fair, Jefferson was a lot of rhetoric, too. I love the guy, but...

  6. I see the French hating in many cases as envy. After all without the Frogs the colonists would have never won the revolution. The delusion that a bunch of good old country bumpkin farm boys single handedly wiped out Georges regulars is ridiculous.
The French navy was a huge aid to the Colonies for starters.
All of the Frenchman (and woman oh la la!!) I have met over the years have been fine drinking companions and solid individuals.
Cannot say the same for our bunker dwelling scared of their own shadow "Patriots".

    1. Course, you met the Frenchies and then left them, right? If you had to live next to them they might be as irritating as those Patriots. Not picking on the French, just saying ANY neighbor gets irritating.

  7. A great article.
I believe we did pretty well with the Revolution, under the Articles of Confederation. I think it was the Constitution itself that screwed us. Too many loopholes and not enough ways for the people to correct things, outside of guns.

    1. Boston T Party and others seem to think the loopholes were intentional. I don't necessarily disagree.

  8. To go further in your analysis, one might wonder from where that will comes from.

I'd say it comes from education and experience (and both go together).

It also figures why education is the first spending line after service of debt in France ; as I tell my pupils : we have no oil nor copper under out feet, the only reason why one of us earns more than hundred Malians, and that's because of what we know. This doesn't come for free, it requires a tremendous amount of effort.

So spend your ressources in learning and doing.

Is it any wonder that the one guy that makes any sense at all in the survivalist community is a guy living surrounded by books and living the survivalist life for real ?

    1. National priority on education does seem to corralate with level of resources. The US spends a butt ton money wise but nothing is accomplished. The will to achieve results isn't there. Just forcing test scores to look high doesn't do anything but put more lipstick on a Potemkin pig.

  9. Sorry to disappoint Jim, but France is as fucked-up as the US, we're just a bit late to the collapse party. The problem is the same as with the US : the common people are fine folks (mostly, bad apples exist everywhere) but governed by whores that sell them to the highest bidder. Until the fridge is empty, no revolution.

Oh ... Happy new year and good health to you by the way.

Bradley Cooper was in Plano TX a night or two ago for a premier showing of “American Sniper”. It was pathetic watching middle aged guys in their vet vests and caps queing up to shake hands with Cooper. Dollars to donuts none of them ever were near a combat zone, but oooh, they served.
Here’s a link to a story you might like: http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2014/dec/24/american-sniper-real-life-movies-hollywood
Here’s an exerpt from the article: “To conceive of a force as infallible or mythical, then, is to create a too-perfect solution to every problem, from Isis to hostage-takers the world over.”
I love Clint Eastwood movies however this is one I’m not even going to put in Netflix.
