HISTORICAL PRICING WITH GOLD

I had a minion send me a couple of Xerox copies of old timey book chapters. Essentially, hundred year old techniques for woodsmen. Think “Backwoodsman Magazine”, but in book form and written way back in the day. I have only marginal interest in that, but only because I chose the life of an academic over that outdoors. I practically lived outdoors as a kid, as we always lived near small town in the wilderness California. Almost always, you walked out the back door into the woods. It was a great childhood.

*

Then I went “camping” in the military, but in more extreme climes, and my interest in being outdoors evaporated almost entirely. Then, later, living in an RV off grid, that was the most I ever wanted to rough it. Not to say I don't miss the outdoors. I do. I just chose another path. So what got my nipples hardening and sphincter clenching was mention of the prices of the authors outdoor gear. Seventy cents axes and $8 rifles. But then a thought hit me. Was this REALLY a good deal? If you priced in inflation, was this the great price you believe?

*

I don't know WHY my thoughts were directed hence. This is just how my brain works. Some authors can envision a fantasy world, I pick out Apocalypse Pertinence everywhere. So, to begin, we take the Internet Inflation Calculator and we wipe our ass with it. Those use the OFFICIAL inflation rate. That is like asking the NOL what her boob size is after losing weight. Officially, it is still a D, although not a Double D. I have my doubts. I TOLD her I didn't want her to lose any of her Pleasant Plumpness, but she just HAD to get sick! The official size doesn't match my perceptions.

*

Inflation figures have been gayed up almost from the beginning ( do you figure in the 40% inflation as gold was made illegal to hold, then the adjustment in the official gold price, mere months after FDR took power? Savior of the poor, my dimpled ass ). If you care, go visit that grandpa site that purports to give better figures with M3 money creation, without adjustments. I have my doubts even that is all that correct. I prefer the gold prices of the time and how much you can buy with those. You have to be careful, as it isn't a 1=1. Different eras had different gold values.

*

You can't just say, a mans suit two hundred years ago and now are both an ounce of gold. Because few of us wear suits, DUH. I like the gold earned per month and matched to prices, myself. And I discount the era of Spanish colonies and gold. That was inflationary, a One Off Event. So was the gold rush of California, Canada, Oz and South Africa, BUT! Coal and oil production allowed industrial growth which was financed by the extra gold, so the price effects was far more stable. Then you had the end of gold currency, after WWI. Culminating in the US in the early Thirties outlawing citizens ownership.

*

Then we didn't have much change in a stable dollar price system until the 1960's, leading to turmoil the next few decades but still, basically, a good indicator of prices. Until 1990, with the initial surge of ALL resources from the US winning the Cold War and colonizing most of the planet through globalization. Gold took a two decade break from being as scarce or expensive to mine, until a smidge after Global Peak Oil, and now we are back on track. And frighteningly, it shows we are WAY down in wages. Which isn't even as scary as it could be, since gold prices have been manipulated at least 150 years to more reflect banker control than purchasing power.

*

But let's return to 1920, the era of the book chapters I read, and the prices presented. Seventy cents for an axe was when gold was about $20 an ounce. It was also, roughly, when you earned a dime an hour, or an ounce of silver a day, which was around one ounce of gold a month ( when the gold/silver peg was 1 to 20 ). That means, compared to today's average wage of a bit under an ounce of gold a month, your 1920 axe cost $54. Well, crap! That doesn't exactly seem like all that great of a bargain now, does it?

*

And that $8 rifle ( not even a fancy top of the line rifle ) in today's gold price? $720. I bought middlin quality combat carbines for half that price, prior to the Corona Mass Firearm Panic ( well, if we avoid Political Correctness, we can call it the Great White Flight To The Gun Stores To Protect Themselves Against Looting And Rampaging Blacks Panic ). Now, I KNOW I'm not comparing Oranges To Oranges. Today we can only buy Apples. A century ago you were buying Swiss level quality from American manufacturers- Oranges. Today, only lower quality goods from anywhere, so Apples. A rifle then would hold up better than one now ( or, at least until the more corrosive ammo shortened its well crafted life ).

*

If we adjusted over to like comparisons, I think prices would have been roughly equal. They appear to be half price but figure you'll need to buy two for the same use. And as for axes, even if you can buy a $15 one now, you'd probably need to buy nearly four to equal the old one, factoring in Chinese junk. So prices ARE the same. But we did embrace the 70's factory exit and the 90's Chinese Factories, for a very good reason. We couldn't afford to pay even more. Make all the noise you want about quality costs, the average-AVERAGE-worker is not paid enough to buy those.

*

Why did we have better quality goods then, or in other words, workers were given more for their efforts? They had gotten LESS, fifty years prior. You cannot point to the Irish Influx, because the latter immigration wave was far larger ( the Jews, Italians, Eastern Europeans ). I contend that you merely look at the source of energy our economy used. Coal was a good enough substitute for wood ( although not great-hard woods and water power weren't too far behind. Coal was more a need as wood supplies were denuded ), and it did improve the velocity of the Industrial Era, but the energy delivered was dwarfed by oil.

*

I know you all get tired of me yammering on about oil, but we are living in the Oil Age. If you lived in the Agricultural Age, you would always be talking about the weather and commodity prices and soil fertility. Oil Supply is EVERYTHING, not just “A” thing. Oil is how you eat and how you protect yourself, how you mate and how your kids are provided for. Excuse the holy living crap out of me for focusing on oil. If everyone contacts me and tells me they hate their children, I'll stop fretting about oil.

*

The transition to oil from coal enriched everyone, even accounting for the massive waves of OtherColor immigrants of a century ago. The tide DID lift all boats ( especially compared to the previous decades where the Robber Barons did not share very well. If you accept my premise that coal didn't have enough energy, but oil did, that could actually explain the wealth inequality better than “greed” alone would. Although, I'll take “Yankee Vermin Scum War Spoils” as a close second ). It might not have lifted our boats as well, but it was still an improvement ( compare to now where immigration hurts far more ).

*

( Germany and Japan were only partially oil powered, and far more from coal [ whereas Italy had neither and barely counted in the great scheme of things precisely for that reason ], but they didn't have a central bank or a Rich Humper class and had a far more national orientated leadership, even if it did enrich itself to some degree. This is why I believe National Socialism was far superior to Capitalism in the era we cover. Communism proved that you need an adequate social structure to accompany your resources, or you waste them all. Italy proved a great social organization only helped so much. The US did NOT prove the superiority of capitalism. It only proved capitalism was better than communism in delivering extra benefits from resources so than the rich could thrive along with society )

*

( You'all need to stop with the political focus and the naive belief that leadership can trump resources. Resources ALWAYS get a say. And as our good buddy Tainter said [ and what made his book worth reading, this one major component of collapse ] great leadership cannot reverse the collapse, nor can poor leadership ruin a period of enrichment. We have been dwelt our hand in this poker game, and it doesn't look like we get to beat the house this time. What part of “baked into the cake” is presenting difficulty? The collapse trumps Trump. Sorry, Not Sorry )

*

( Do I gain an indecent amount of pleasure from these events? Of course I do. I would be lying to say I'm all sad and stressed. Yes, of course the collapse is going to suck giant hairy monkey balls. Soonest Started, Soonest Done. If any society in the history of the world needed a Darwin cleansing and a kick in the ass, this wretched foul hunk of dung does )

*

For a hundred years, oil obviously helped in extracting gold. The more man powered ore had been extracted during the Coal Age, so if we hadn't had oil we would have gotten a lot less gold out of the ground ( the century of oil powered gold extraction exceeded all of previous mining combined prior to that date ). But there was also a reason gold didn't matter as much this last century. The reason wasn't that England had to decouple from the gold backing because she needed more money to finance the Great War. Yes, she would have done so for that reason, but then the US did NOT assume the global financial currency with all of Europe's gold. Why?

*

The US got into WWI not because of democracy. We got into the war because we now had a central bank, and the bank immediately upon creation ( almost as if, oh, I don't know, they had already been working behind the scenes prior to official founding ) started loaning oodles and gobs of money to England and France. Who then proceeded to fight the war as if they were all going to win the war. What was the war about? Colonial control and wealth ( England started the war to defend her shrinking economy against upstart Germany. You mine coal for a few centuries, yeah, then your economy based on coal gets into trouble ).

*

If they won against Germany, they controlled the globes colonies ( don't forget, China was on the table along with Africa ). If Germany won, she could continue her economic expansion with newfound colonial resources. Don't forget the Baghdad To Berlin Railroad ). So everyone bet everything on victory. The only winner was America. She ended up as the premier economy and held most of the gold paid as part of the war loans. But this didn't produce inflation, did it?

*

Because gold had already been eclipsed by oil. We got most of Europe's gold, and instead of inflation we got deflation. Recall the lack of inflation from the Coal Age's gold rushes. The Industrial Age's infrastructure build up was financed by all that new gold ( the proxy for coal ), so there was no currency inflation. Just as today, the Federal Reserve shoved tens of Trillions ( T, trillions. Not B, billions ) into the US stock market without inflation ( this is far less effective now of course ). The problem with the Oil Age was that there was so much oil that was invested into its own infrastructure, there was no inflation.

*

That was the Great Depression. Yes, the central bank created that event to take over control of the country even more, to cement that. But they were working in a deflationary environment from severe overcapacity. Just as China gave us twenty years of deflation ( as seen by money creation NOT being inflationary ) by industrializing. There was so much plant to turn so much material into goods, the prices went into the toilet from competition ( another strike against capitalism, in the era of the left side of the oil bell curve ). You'll of course note that Corona was about killing capacity.

*

Would you care to guess why inflation is making a nice comeback? It isn't because of credit or currency creation from the Fed. Yes, we are exponentially creating more, but we did the exact same thing in 2008, with ten percent yearly inflation. We didn't see inflation because fracking oil resumed energy creation. If you print extra money, but that was offset by extra oil, there is no inflation. Oil had become money, long ago. Gold didn't matter, because oil was the new money. That is how the Fed got away with inflating the gold price 40% in 1933. Oil production countered that.

*

Let's review that. If you pump a barrel of oil, you've created that much extra energy. It would be like a farm doubling food one year. The price goes down on that food, so the whole yield can be sold. It is just supply and demand. Oil is ALL created goods. Double the goods, halve the price. Oil production is wealth, not gold. That is why gold was a mere commodity for a hundred years. When the world saw Peak Global Oil in 2005, gold started going back up. When the US had its oil supply shocks in the 70's, gold went back up. When a supply of oil was found, the 80's Alaska oil or the Fracking Oil in about 2009, gold dropped back to commodity pricing ( JUST the cost of extraction ). In other words, enough oil supplants gold as a money unit, not enough oil and gold returns to the currency.

*

Gold would be a heck of a lot more expensive right now if we hadn't had the Fracking Oil Decade, but you can be sure gold is going to go back up and relatively quickly. The oil supply is contracting quickly. Allow me to crap in your Cheerios. The US domestic oil production fell SEVENTY-FIVE percent during CY1. In case that math is difficult, we went from 12 million barrels a day to 3. THREE! It is back up now to 6, which probably explains the easing of restrictions on Corona, the increased economic activity. But I don't think production will go up any further. Six million a day is conventional oil. I think almost all the fracking is shut down. If we could have recovered to 12, I think we would have.

*

In case your head is up your ass, this means that we have recovered from near zero economy to fifty percent, so any recovery is to HALF of where we were in 2019. I don't think we are close to seeing anything approaching a serious contraction yet. Please recall that the 1970'2 first oil contraction was a mere 5% of our oil from foreigners withheld. We just lost 50%, NOT five. Do you recall the 70's a GOOD time? Not to say it will be a repeat. We could handle a repeat, as that has been the New Normal for decades. Ghetto crime has been normalized. Mass unemployment was normalized. No, we are in for much, much worse.

*

That is why I'm not worried about being wrong about the Corona ending. If it ends ( and it almost looks like it is, de facto ), the economy implodes faster, as increased demand for energy cannot be met. Just look at gas prices since we started driving about. That is a tiny taste. I can confidently project $4 gas easy ( most places except California. They are about a buck more than everywhere else ). If Corona lockdowns are lifted, $5 gas. This year. And I could be wildly optimistic. Remember, IF the lockdowns are lifted.

*

Energy availabilty is NOT just gasoline prices. It is your jobs, your pensions, your food. I'll remind you again. 2019 saw the failure of the banks and the medical industry. Medical alone was 20% of the economy. 2019 was Peak Fracking Oil, and fracking oil and natural gas has a PROVEN track record of near vertical drop on the right side of bell curve production. We are almost at 24 months since Peak Fracking. Which means there is no return and our oil supply took a huge crap. Meaning, YOUR economy.

*

Inflation JUST from oil production crash is going up, big time. That is before bail out debt creation, PetroDollar collapse or anything else is factored in. Gold is going up hugely, going from a commodity back to a precious metal. As will silver, the supply almost non-existent. Of course, if you have gold, don't hurt yourself patting yourself on the back. It doesn't matter how high the price goes. We are already in the beginning phase of the collapse and precious metals is ONLY good for wealth preservation at that point. It is a parked store of wealth that must be held through the Dark Ages until trade resumes. But, Jim! You studmuffin that all women moisten their loins over, and with better hair than most of all humanity even with a touch of receding hairline, won't we see trade as Russia and China lead the old world in a new bipolar political divide?

*

Well, yes and no. China and Russia will lead the non western world, more than likely. But remember what 2030 is. The return of global oil production to 1930 levels. Which means population declines. Russia already shed its excess population when its empire imploded. China has seen a drop in population trendlines from its One Child Policy. They are working the correct trend towards 1930 population. The US and its colonies have NOT. We are working AGAINST the trend. We are screwing ourselves, adding population in a food declining world.

*

A bi-polar world isn't an EQUAL world. It can be as easy as a return to two superpowers controlling the rest of the Turd World countries. And guess what? America is already a Turd World. I do NOT engage in hyperbole to sell my pet collapse theory. America will, prior to Balkanization, perhaps still hold sway over western Europe and Latin America ( although probably not much south of the northern Atlantic ). But she is an empire in obvious decline, fighting the trend line in resources. Asia will do much better, and probably bring Africa along for the ride ( I'm not studied enough on Latin America, but surmise less support )

*

This is not to say we will see a Chinese Century. Oil Decline will be the tide lowering all boats. Just some faster than others. And China still has a lot of population to shed. While Russia must eventually protect herself from China. So while the US is in for major collapse, Asia suffers less but is only where we were thirty years ago. Kicking the can down the road. Of course, economically Asia has the gold, doesn't she? They weren't stockpiling because they plan on being the new global dollar. I think they see a more old hemisphere hunkering down. Gold will return to historical value, pre-1492 value. And America has one precious metal left, and it ain't gold.

*

Lead. We have a good supply of the worlds lead. The unfortunate thing is that you cannot stockpile lead once you need it. You use it or lose it. And then our lead goes from some household centralized holdings to one 55 grain portion per scattered corpse. Still worth salvaging, but no where near as valuable without primers or powder. But that is what a century of oil consumption has left us, as far as wealth. No oil, no gold, but lead.

*

As far as our wages, look at where most of us are at. Do most of us earn $1800 a month? Is your household earning $42k a year? Not as close as many as used to. With two workers per household, the historic one ounce of gold a month per worker would dictate that is the average workers wage. And we could get crazy with comparisons and start converting land and food prices, construction materials, transportation and the like into gold. And most likely, what would have been comparable ten years ago is no longer close to that. And I am JUST talking about during the Oil Age.

*

I'm not comparing gold earnings to prices from the 1880's. I'm talking about just a hundred years ago. Back when everyday life was about the same. Mass media, mass internal combustion engine, the machine age. 2020 might have been a magical unicorn glitter time of Universal Basic Income ( disguised in other forms such as rent moratoriums, unemployment insurance and Orange Man checks ), but even before that our wages were dropping in real terms of gold pricing and earnings. I don't think 2021 will be as kind.

*

Not because “you cannot print the economy indefinitely”, but because our oil supply contracted so much. Everything we are doing now is using embedded energy. That by definition cannot last indefinitely. You have your collapse timeline. It already started the year before last when the fracking oil stopped flowing. And this time, compared to 2008, the can did NOT get kicked down the road. This time, we didn't get any extra time to prepare. Well, you did, a little. I told you in November 2019 the end was nigh, as the banker liquidity crisis became obvious to the most obtuse. You had a quarter of a year you could have gone all in on preps. The last twelve months, no, no more preps are for sale.

*

Still want to hold off on food and ammo purchases, regardless of price? I cannot guarantee anything, but I simply do NOT see ammo returning to normal. And food? The situation will get MUCH worse for food. You can go a few weeks without using ammo, not so much with food. I know you Backwoods Home freaks are patting yourself on the back right about now. And you should. But most of them don't see a future outside Great Depression Two. They don't see Rwanda Plus Bosnia. They think fences and dogs with an AR Owner backstop trumping fires.

*

Let's review CY1. Billions of dollars in loses, the Mostly Peaceful Protesters killing what retail Corona didn't, and you are safe in the suburbs? The difference between you and I isn't that I'm out of harms way. It is that I KNOW I'm humped. Do you? I at least have an additional 1% chance I'll get my head out of my ass and flee to safety. You are bugging in to disaster. Or, if you know and are at peace, then it is all good. Enjoy what is left, and thank you for increasing the survivors odds by being a lead trap after you stop a fair number of OpFor's. Bless your heart!

JFK AND VIETNAM

Every once in awhile I think it is nice to veer slightly away from my hair being on fire, as I am running about in a circle, screaming that the end is nigh. But of course, we can't talk about movie reviews ( as if there are any movies. I guess Corona means there is literally only one blockbuster movie each summer. And of course inevitably it is about super hero's. I was beyond shocked the other day when I veered off my normal walking path to check out the movie theater and they were up to what I thought were big city prices, $9. Good thing there is nothing to watch ) or the care and feeding of unicorns, or even the price of tea in China.

*

But we can talk about history that is tied in to imperialism, as we are pretty much in this pickle because of our failing empire. Well, that and the unhampered unhinged unimaginable and un-friggin-believable evil and greed of Red Shield, may their black hides rot in Hell for all of eternity ( relax, Super Woke Rangers, “black” as in Bubonic Plague, not as in race. If you had ever read any history except Devil Whitey Oppression you would know the term was a curse ). But I shan't digress. I want to talk about the Vietnam War, and everybody's favorite little liberal John Fitzgerald Kennedy.

*

I do not much care for JFK, merely a Clinton without most of his head. The difference from Clinton was that JFK got the CIA to kill his lovers and enemies, and Bill left those details to Hilary. So I guess we can at least give credit to Johnny Boy for being a real man where Bill was just a fat Soy Boy pussy. Anyway, I absolutely despise the assassination conspiracy theory as put out by the movie ( and all the books ) “JFK”. No, Sam I Am, the Military Industrial Complex did NOT kill Kennedy because he threatened their meal ticket. I shall show this, quite easily, with very little effort ( source, “Washington Rules” by Andrew J Bacevich ).

*

Now, I kinda sorta did enjoy the movie. Great actors, most in their prime. Terrible story, when it veered into a lot of areas. Oliver Stone has done some really good work, but sadly most are not on Jim's Scale Of Movie Greatness ( if you buy the movie because it begs for viewing after viewing, the movie is Great ). Some are, but the majority are not. Even Platoon was only great for some scenes, not the entire work, I don't believe it ages well, nor would I place it anywhere near the top of best war movies. With far too many Stone movies recently, which I'd add “JFK”, they are little more than Cat Lady Liberal Sky Screaming, a rectal lick to the establishment to continue working.

*

I'm sure Stone was passionate about the project. I'm sure he probably believed in the premise-it does seem to be a work of love. But Liberals do tend to want to blame everything on Evil Corporations, don't they? Now, I would never, ever, argue that corporations are nice folks. I would never say corporations were run well, or were necessary for the public good. I would rather nuke every last corporate headquarters from orbit, just to be sure they were extinct. But Liberals, being very retarded people except in their narrow specialties, if then, are flaming idiots.

*

Government, which liberals love as a problem solver, are much, much more evil than corporations. And central banks, which liberals, being humping retarded as hump, don't even realize are a threat, are exponentially more evil than governments. So let's stop blaming everything on corporations, shall we? And let's not give them any more credit than they are due. They are merely lapdogs doing their masters bidding. They have no power themselves, because they don't earn any money other than what they are allowed to keep. They have no real power, or control. They are Useful Idiots, just like Liberals.

*

But that isn't my argument. You need some facts and figures. So let's see how much business JFK gave both the CIA and the military industrial complex, before we just assume they lashed back out in anger and dread of losing funding. In Kennedy's first year in office, military spending rose 15%. JFK wanted to expand all aspects of the military, as he felt Eisenhower's mostly just nuclear deterrent was inadequate. The rise in spending, along with his speeches on his strategy, were both signal and proof of additional resources going to those who were part of the cabal.

*

ICBM production doubled, from thirty a month, to sixty. The submarine fleet that was being planned to use some of those missiles was bumped up from a proposed 29 to 41. The army got an additional 200k men, and its active duty divisions went from eleven to sixteen. More men were sent to Germany, and the Special Forces DOUBLED in size. The military went from JUST being a nuclear tripwire to a larger more flexible organization. One wonders, just how angry did this make anyone at the Pentagon?

*

Advisors in Vietnam went from 900 to seventeen thousand. They were also given official sanction to begin operating in combat operations ( okay, sure, of course they were probably already doing that, but this notified the world of our intentions, and more to our point here, notified the military of the coming spending orgy ). He also gave his aids speaking of toppling the South Vietnam leadership great leeway. JFK didn't care if the CIA got more dirty in more places, he just wanted to have a better say over operations, as he felt the Bay Of Pigs betrayal ( read, a threat to his political power ). Of course, his own bungling in the coup was on par with Cuba, but at least he was in charge.

*

The assassination of Ngo Dinh Diem, the friendly dictator the US had installed in the 50's, quickly sent the Vietnamese situation into bloody chaos, almost as if that was the whole intention all along ( wink, wink ), where the military had to get deeply involved To Save Our Democratic Ally. And don't think that that coup orchestration was the only missions that JFK had enlisted the CIA in. Under Eisenhower, the intelligence agency had been given 170 major missions by the President, in eight years. Under JFK, in less than three years, there was 163.

*

So, do you still think the CIA offed JFK because he had threatened to disband them after the Bay Of Pigs? That was political theater, people! He needed them to wage the Cold War, just as much as he needed the regular military forces, just like he needed the military corporations building all this new equipment. War is the health of the state, remember that one? JFK was making the state VERY healthy. Now, I'm not saying the CIA didn't have something to do with killing JFK. The CIA is only after what is good for the CIA.

*

I'm saying, the CIA didn't kill him for the stated reasons, the currently approved propaganda. They LOVED him being in charge of the Cold War. If Red Shield had told them to kill JFK, of course, they would have gladly done so. Vietnam was guaranteed to happen on Kennedy's watch, NOT Johnson's. LBJ just became the public fall guy for the war. It was planned to happen, not because a politician decreed it but because the entire imperial apparatus NEEDED it to happen. The CIA was getting its war, no matter who was nominally in charge. They would have turned around and popped LBJ if they had been told to. Assassins gotta assassinate, that is what they do.

*

JFK was NEVER any threat to the Intelligence Agencies, the military, the civilian companies supplying them, or to the empire. He was completely in their pocket, the only article of contention being the extra leeway that the White House had given the CIA to initiate its own operations. JFK only brought them under control so as to, in theory, have a coordinated imperial policy. And if that was the only conflict, the CIA would NEVER have gotten any help if they had decided on their own to kill him. Everyone else would have turned on the CIA, as JFK had been exactly who they needed as a President.

*

The myth that JFK was against Vietnam was a nice little fantasy folks tell themselves so that they can believe that we aren't an empire, that “democracy” isn't a code word used to control us, and that we aren't killed daily by our overlords as it suits them ( and if you doubt that, ask why Guomo is still in office, rather than in jail, for killing around ten thousand or so senior citizens, so as to provide proof of Corona. Mein Gott, people! Know your friggin enemy. Or, as our Chinese Dear Leader says, Enjoy Your Black People. Because if you aren't aware of who controls and uses you, you will foolishly live among the civilian shock troops happily ).

*

It is my contention that Vietnam WAS necessary to prevent a severe economic recession, the good 'ol “WWII Got Us Out Of The Depression” repeat. I could be wrong. I've never seen too many agree with this, if any. It could just be another one of my political fever dreams. I further agree with the far more popular and argued contention that the Federal Reserve Bank had JFK killed because he wanted the Treasury to assume money creation duties again. Having said that, I can see the holes in that theory. Why couldn't that also have been mere political campaign promises, like the threat to eliminate the CIA? I don't know enough details. I just think it is a more likely theory, far more plausible than the rest.

*

Hell, I don't even have a perfect theory as to why we were in Afghanistan. I don't like the “rare earth metals location” theory, because in twenty years we haven't mined dingus. I'm not too fond of “pipelines” theory, as China and Russia pretty much control all the surrounding areas, and pipelines can be diverted around. I did like the “water control of China” theory, but think that is REALLY impractical. It sounded better, without analysis. I know why we were in Iraq, for the PetroDollar, but still have no clear answer on Afghanistan ( and yes, both were argued to provide stimulus as did WWII and Vietnam, but before the turn of the century our economy was no longer about manufacturing, so while it might have been a entity profit center, it wasn't a national economic stimulus ).

I think that concludes today's Delusional Thinking Debunking. We at Jim Airlines hope you've enjoyed your experience and hope you'll join us again flying the Paranoid Sky's.

CRYPTO AND SILVER

( note: This was originally written in May 2021. At the time, our fracking production was down much further. It is still down to the point it assures an economic collapse, but rather than 75% loss we are currently at about 50%- fracking, not conventional. They were about half and half. So, that makes for a current nine million barrels a day total rather than seven. Still bad, considering how much we need and how much we still must import, if anyone is selling us oil )

*

If you've followed The Survival Podcast with Jack Spirko ( and I recommend that you do ), you know the guy is gay over crypto-currencies. I of course do not share his optimistic ollie high tech future where we can rely on a pretty glittery network of wires hooked up to computers to do anything, but Jack is a prepper in the Backwoods Home vein and I am merely the crazy guy on the street corner shouting the end is neigh. So of course we are not going to agree on a lot of things, like his projection of low crime out of ghetto areas.

*

But the thing about Spirko is, you simply cannot be mad at him for his views. He comes at any problem with so much logic and intelligence that any disagreement is only philosophical and you can listen to his without mentally melting down as you so easily can with so many other prepper guru's who have a great marketing campaign, but who conduct that from a position of their head up their ass. I won't mention any names, because you don't need me to. Any reasonably intelligence person can smell out the whiff of feces, without too much effort.

*

And Jack, well, no matter what he is talking about, if you don't learn anything- which you usually do, 99 out of a hundred times- he is at least always interesting. So, keep all that in mind as we discuss the latest detail he brought up on crypto's. He has come up with many justifications for crypto over the years. They MOSTLY make sense from his paradigm, I grant you. He compares the high cost of Oil Age warfare propping up the dollar to the high cost of the computer infrastructure behind crypto. That is true. I just think his LiberTardian views muddy his perception that global currency dominance is NOT free market based, but rather monopoly on force.

*

He kind of reminds me of Denninger at Market Ticker, who screams and yells at his readers for not being the pitchfork and torch bearers, burning out the corruption whenever he gets on his hobby horse of medical industry dysfunction. Not realizing the bigger forces behind the curtain the puppet show is in front of. Spirko's latest crypto justification is to compare them to diamonds. Diamonds have about zero worth, a mere commodity that an artificial monopoly gives value to. I agree completely. I have ALWAYS thought so, even as a very young adult spent in otherwise complete ignorance besides a few bugaboos ( college scam, mortgage scam, car scam ).

*

So, he is essentially saying that crypto are just like diamonds, only given value by an article of faith held collectively. Bravo! We finally agree completely on something he said about crypto. And no Jack, I do not care about all the other crap like secure remote purchasing. If I think the Internet will fail, as it has as much ignored maintenance as our bridges and dams and electrical grid, why would I think anyone but large corporations or government entities can continue being wired together ( in others words, hint, hint, as small Mom & Pop retailers are crushed by Corona, to shrink those eating the pie, Internet cost and availability will crush most small business owners using the Internet )?

*

I think we both agree about crypto. Or diamonds, or gold and silver. In that a trading chit can be anything everyone agrees on. The items themselves do not matter. ANYTHING can be used to trade. Gold and silver do hold the edge because of near indestructibility, relative scarcity ( especially silver from Industrial Destruction ) and about six thousand years of universal acceptance behind it. Of course, no, you cannot easily trade it at a distance without financial penalty. The Post Office spent many bankruptcy years panicking at its own irrelevance and threw subsidized postage at Amazon, and is now busy scalping all other customers to make up for that.

*

I think we can safely say after fifty years or close enough, looking at Amtrak and the Post Office ( and even LEO's, if you look at drug profit asset forfeiture as a profit center ), the only thing worse than a government run organization is a for profit run quasi government organization. Government entities are supposed to lose money. The government can minimize that. Add in “for profit” and inefficiency and incompetence spikes, if not also corruption. You USED to be able to cheaply and safely send bullion through the mail.

*

The problem of course with diamonds is that not everyone thinks they have any value. You know the guy who sucked down too much crack, as he got older and weaker but still needed to keep his job comprising of some degree of physical labor, then in desperation goes to a pawn shop and wants next months rent from an old beat to crap power tool? And the guy there offers him like $10 on a former $200 item? Yeah, even adjusting for the profit mark-up, the pawn dude knows the worth of the tool. It is NOT what the owner would like to think. You didn't just buy the tool, you bought the rental cost of the space it was in and the labor it took to sell it, on top of the cost of manufacturing.

*

A $200 tool, if hawked on the street, sells for $175. He bought it for $100. The minute you buy it, you have a $100 tool. The minute you use it, it falls from there ( now, obviously, supply and demand play a part. I'm just pointing out mark ups ). A diamond is even worse than that tool, and you can get a fair assessment of its value as soon as you take it to a pawn shop. I was buying used jewelry for pennies on the retail dollar back in the day ( and I only did that because the then wife loved diamonds. To me, the little gold or silver in there didn't come close to its cost ).

*

Crypto is like diamonds in that the cost and price are so insanely far apart. Yes, BitCoin was born with artificial scarcity built into it, and now the tech sector guys are flooding the market for ANYTHING of value besides their central bank liquidity artificially pumped up dog crap stock, so the crypto prices are once again on the rise. Not only are we reliving the Tech Wreck, idiot day traders once again on a get rich quick tear, I'm noticing reverse mortgage TV commercials and radio ads for other exotic financing for housing, a rerun of 2005-2007. We can make excuses for them, desperately seeking returns, pensions in trouble, but no matter where you are in the financial market, you are playing with tulips.

*

Dollars are worthless toilet paper. But my criteria for a trading chit are what you can take with you on a trip, lost in the Amazon jungle, stumble into a sleepy village with one tiny store alongside a malarial swamp, and be able to use it to buy desperately needed medicine, food and medicinal spirits. Dollars fit that role, even as I know as we speak it is a dying global currency. Silver and gold qualify. Diamonds do NOT. I understand I am in a minority, but if I was fleeing the Nazi's I'd rather have a roll of gold coins stuck up my ass rather than a single diamond.

*

Never in my life have I seen a diamond, read about their market prices, or owned one, and said, oh, gee, wealth. NEVER. I have a complete LACK of faith in diamonds, as I do both credit cards and crypto's. Because none of them will do you a damn bit of good in the jungle store. Jack SHOULD have been old enough to live through the fear of thermonuclear destruction. Perhaps he is young enough that the demise of the Soviet Union meant the end of nuclear threats. He didn't live LONG enough for the threat to be life long. We grew up knowing all the pretty glittery machine could be wiped out instantly. But, I'm not picking on Spirko. Plenty of people, old decaying fossils barely shuffling along the golf course greens, they don't think all this can end in an instant, either.

*

If enough people think Digital Is Dandy, crypto WILL become a trading chit. I personally just look at it ( digital anything ) like the dying dollar. Convenient and cool while it works, cold cow crap when it doesn't. Does the radiation from a tablet phone fry your brain to the point you are living in a online role playing game? Because that is the only explanation I can think of that magically gives digital tools any value. I'm not speaking of computers, but online. Computers are bad enough. Online enslaves us all in its insipid spell. It can be used for good, and its evil minimized or ignored, but I think it does influence most of us. I was just as bad.

*

I have never touched alcohol again because I couldn't control myself with it. The same with the Internet. I was Half A Day Online Addicted. In a way I'm glad Google went Full Retard Censor. If there had been more programming in our industry, I never would have gotten off the recliner, or picked up a book again. Lots of folks limit online and just get the benefits and none of the problems, but I wonder what that ratio is. So, perhaps my hatred of crypto is unduly influenced by my former addiction. A very real possibility, I grant you. But, also, let's consider the possibility I'm merely Collapsing Now And Avoiding The Rush.

*

Even Greer is more paranoid than Spirko, and that ain't saying a whole heck of a lot. But, I'm REALLY honest not here to judge the man over his optimism. As he advises, ten percent of your wealth in crypto ( or whatever you can afford to gamble ) is probably something all of us can afford. I won't touch it with free money AND your dingus, but I'm just weird in that I think we have ZERO chance of avoiding the collapse. Your mileage may vary. But, let's refocus here. A store of value, or wealth, or just stable trading chits, CAN and will change in time. Up until and almost but not quite during and after World War One, the British pound was not only the worlds currency, it actually WAS backed by precious metal almost until the end.

*

You could say the Pound died in the trenches, victim to the needs to finance a war an already diminished economy ( following the coal production ) was unable to afford. Or, you could say that the time was necessary for a OIL based currency to take over from a precious metal backed one. The Dollar was that, not because we had such a great economy, although we did, but because we were the biggest oil producer. A gold backed currency could never finance an industrial global economy, but an oil based one could. So you could argue that oil backed money was a TEMPORARY currency. How could it not be, as oil has to run out ( everyone DOESN'T say, as they believe in the Hollow Earth Theory, filled not with jungles and dinosaurs but petroleum )?

*

I suppose it is a very SHORT leap from a diminishing commodity backed currency to a digital currency, both backed by transient wealth. In the great scheme of things, one soon to be obsolete currency is as good as another, as long as we can all agree on it. One monopoly on force entity backed fiat is as good as any other, as long as Pedro in the jungle shack store is eager to accept it. NO currency, government backed ( fiat ) or private market acceptance backed ( gold and silver ) is really worth anything at all ever. It is ONLY worth what it can buy.

*

Your crypto is only worth what it can buy in a online globalization world. Your dollars or Euro's are only worth what it can buy in a world full of nation states. Your gold and silver are only worth what they can buy as long as SOME trade exists, be it by bicycle, boat or mule train can deliver over distance. So, for a time, your gold and silver will be worth ZERO, as the civilization collapse Dark Ages revert to total localization, no entity having enough surplus energy to divert to protecting trade. Your beloved Private Market will stipulate, long after the collapse, that gold and silver are valuable trade chits. But without government, no trade routes can be protected, to be able to use those precious metals.

*

Libertardians always make the fundamental mistake of assuming that because the market is more efficient, we can have private armies or police. No, we cannot. Use of force requires surplus energy, and the monopoly holder of that energy is the government. Private business could indeed own the surplus, but who protects it? It can protect itself only through use of force, and the only way to win that war is to prohibit all others from being able to deploy the same amount of force. Libertarians think there will be a gentleman's agreement among companies to NOT use excess force, or that consumers will boycott those breaking that agreement.

*

Well, guess what dissuades those customers from such an illogical view? The monopoly on force that protects trade. Because with trade, we can all survive nicely, and without trade we can all, mostly, live a nice Bush Bitch existence. Beyond a Stone Age life, you need trade. No one area provides everything you need to have any other advanced materials or supplies. So, government makes possible trade, with the threat of not allowing trade, and only a government can get the surplus energy, by force, to protect trade. And only government has the trade to protect all those private citizens and corporations or businesses from other attacking governments. You cannot philosophize away government.

*

( Short pause to remind everyone I was both an Austrian economist and a Libertarian for many years, before I realized my many grave mistakes ) Now, let us divert our focus to silver. You know I've hollered at you for years about buying silver yesterday, I warned of shortages prior to Corona, I kept bringing up Peak Global Silver in 2008 ( US Peak in 1998 ), and kept reminding you that we were ONLY at Industrial Cost, NOT monetary cost ( price discovery ruined by the derivatives market by the bankers ), and that would change soon. And, again, for you Deniers, I did all this BEFORE Corona or PetroDollar Death.

*

Well, boys and girls, it brings me great pleasure to wallow in my perfection. Today, as reported in the podcast Quoth The Raven # 246, we have a few issues when it comes to silver. One being, silver is selling at a price of 1/80th that of gold. Not exactly, if you go by a different day, but I believe an Average was utilized. It takes 80 ounces of silver to buy one ounce of gold. Now, you know, I know and Ross Perot even six feet under knows, that is an artificial price. Back when we had gold and silver as money, the ratio was 20 to 1. All through ancient history prior to carbon fuels, you always got about 15 to 1 up to 20 to 1 when you engaged in mining. That is the ratio pulled out of the ground, and a currency based on that ratio is stable over time.

*

I told you, when I was buying silver ( not a lot, but what I could afford as I was also buying Lead and Brass ), that silver should be a minimum of $100 in 2019 purchasing power, NOT the $18 I was spending. That would have been bringing the 15 to 1 or 20 to 1 ratio back. And that price was JUST the mining cost differences. Both precious metals should be oh so much higher, if it was valued as real money. Today, the banker manipulation treats it as mere industrial metal ( to artificially prop up the dollar ).

*

If you inflation adjusted the 1980 cost of silver ( the Hunt Brothers price increase, a good gauge of what silver could do during an economic collapse, as a high demand low supply reflection ), you would have about $200 an ounce silver. And gold, twenty times that. IF gold and silver truly followed free market pricing. So I told you, near two years ago, $100 silver was a minimum true price, and that is without inflation adjustment, JUST 2019 purchasing power.

*

So, what happened in the last two years? We had a tiny deficit of supply, the two year total of Five Hundred MILLION ounces shortfall, demand to supply ( if I'm recalling correctly, global mining of silver is about 700 million ounces a year-but double check me on that ). But would you like to know what is exponentially worse? Exponentially, as defined by the man on the street, meaning Metric Butt Tons MORE. The mines are only producing eight ounces of silver for each ounce of gold, ONE HALF HISTORICAL PRODUCTION!!!

*

You could throw a lot of static at that, distorting the signal. Corona shutting the mines for months, decreased demand of regular metals means silver as a piggyback product not mined. But let us not lose the Big Picture. China recovered economically a good six-ten months ago, and while not factory producing at peak, they are producing at new normal. Yes, tin and copper and etcetera metal will be mined less to reflect lower finished product production, and 70% of silver is from those mines ( only 30% comes from silver only mines ), but demand for silver is huge.

*

I'm not stressing about the silver supply contracting. It WILL rebound, somewhat. I'm afraid of the cost of the rebound. Let me make this very clear. The world wants silver. The western banks want a very low silver price, to defend the dollar ( only a dollar monopoly gives them their wealth ), a price below production. Of course production is crap, the price is too low. In the end, one is going to win, either dollar control or silver price discovery. And not only is silver demand exploding, because the supply is on a downward trend even with a rebound of the current low supply ( and hence, it looks as if industrial users are joining monetary value buyers pushing up demand ), the other pressures on the dollar are exploding.

*

I've told you for years to expect the death of the PetroDollar. I know, I realize that is VERY frustrating, because anyone can call the collapse, but without an idea of a timeline it is difficult to do any planning. As far as I was concerned, 2005 was the only date you needed to know. As in Peak Global Oil, after which everything HAD to fail. Hey, I'm not a stopwatch, I'm only a crier of wolves. Sorry. But I do realize your frustration. Why do you think I'm so happy to be getting files from the experts, who are much better at the timing ( in years, rather than decades )?

*

I've kept you updated on the PetroDollar decline, such as when the Saudi's started taking Chinese currency. Just the fact that they had the balls to break the dollar monopoly tells you that the US is now a weak ass bitch, that the PetroDollar IS a zombie already, and that if we cannot keep a few Sand Negro's in place, we have no leverage against real threats such as Iran, Russia and China. Who are the key players in the New Eastern World Order. As in, everyone in the Old World, and the US was NOT invited to play. Do NOT mistake my reporting this as any kind of joy on my part, past the regular gloating. The end of US hegemony means I'm just as screwed as the rest of you.

*

The newest reports seem to be pointing to the end of the US led SWIFT system, replaced by the Chinese Digital Yuan and the Shanghai Gold Exchange ( think of SWIFT as the government version of Western Union, how governments pay each other ). Our control there let the US embargo those not playing ball geopolitically. Its initial partial replacement, now years old, let Russia and China and friends pay each other without being controlled by the US. Yes, ANOTHER death blow to our Force Monopoly along with the Saudi's replacement of the dollar. And remember, US Treasuries are held by countries to use as currency buying oil priced in dollars. It has been at least five years since any of those were sold by us. We're just buying it ourselves.

*

Lastly, not only is the SWIFT system and the Petrodollar under more pressure than ever before, the COMEX is failing, badly. That is the precious metal exchange we use to derivatives manipulate the silver price. That was in trouble years ago, prior to Corona. Remember when Germany wanted its gold back? I believe it took about four years to give it all back to them. Because despite its claims, the exchange AND the banks controlling it have no precious metal reserves. None. Or, if any, probably almost none, each ounce tremendously leveraged by electric claims of metal.

*

Remember 2008? Of course you do. Well, everything that caused that, the banking system doubled down on. Derivatives, leverage, fraud. When our system failed to grow ( and the fracking oil that was our only growth was ONLY enough growth to diminish the amount of negative growth, not real economic growth ), we had to flood the system with printed wealth, as the only way to kick the can on total economic collapse. Inflation at a minimum of ten percent a year ( it would have been much worse with any kind of money velocity ) was GREAT, as the alternative was Greater Depression. But the Fall of 2019 was THAT rescue operation failing.

*

Everything you are seeing is proof of concept, the economic collapse of the American Empire finally at hand. Corona was tapping the brakes, but our economic competitors we can no longer control are taking advantage of our troubles ( that, really, we only have ourselves to blame for ) and those trends already five to seven years old are accelerating. And like Hemingway's bankruptcy, they are Very Slowly, then All At Once. You've already been warned, multiple times, so do NOT be surprised with the coming Cliff Plunge when it happens. The timing? Well, again, all I can say is Prepare Yesterday for the collapse Tomorrow.

*

In 2019 I told you to buy even just five ounces of silver, if you could afford nothing else ( $100 at the time ). That locks in your $200 an ounce purchasing power store ( I tell you $100 an ounce, as that is a MINIMUM, but I cannot help but think twice that is not only feasible, but STILL might not even be paranoid enough ). That was a ten to one return, but this isn't about investing. It is about purchasing power protection. It will be how you can still eat, before the total collapse. And unlike crypto, it takes a much smaller leap of faith. With crypto, you are betting on everything NOT going wrong. With silver, you are better on everything getting worse.

*

I simply have zero comprehension as to how anyone could be confused as to what bet is better. Did you miss the part about Saudi Arabia winning its bid to replace our currency ( of course, yes, the bulk is still dollars, as far as I know. The point is, taking a competing currency means we lost the monopoly. Just like Britain lost its global currency to the US dollar, and their loss of empire followed. Still confused? We are ONLY pumping one third to one quarter of our own oil. The rest of it that we use comes from foreign lands. The PetroDollar was FREE oil, oil for our debt. If they do not take dollars, we cannot get their oil. 75% of our oil, gone. DO THE MATH!!! )

*

Now, don't misconstrue all of the following with instructions to go All In on silver. As I said, silver is only worth what it can buy, and you can only buy what is available through trade. I would not touch gold or silver until you have no more room for food, and you have more ammunition than you'll ever need in two generations of tribal warfare, plus a collapse, Boogaloo AND die-off. I would buy ammunition at $2 a round, if you didn't have enough, before I bought silver at $20 an ounce ( and we know it is going way above that, real street price ). I would buy flour at $2 a pound ( NOT a bag, as currently it is priced, a POUND, if I didn't have enough food and couldn't find rice or wheat ) before I bought any silver. Silver is just surplus wealth inflation proofed.

*

And if you do NOT have an embarrassing surplus of food and ammo, you do NOT have any surplus wealth, period, the end. I'm just assuming, you all mostly make more than me, even if your net is crap, you've had a full year to go stupid on food purchases ( even if it isn't the food you want to store, at least get what you can eat ). The ammo, not so much, ha! LOL. I've seen 12 gauge and rimfire for sale at the expected increases, but from what little I can tell everything else is even worse than just a month or two ago. Still want that high capacity semi-auto ammo hoser? Whose the paranoid loser now, bitches?

*

Okay, I'd kidding! You need a sense of humor more than every, as civilization collapses around you. If you are stressed now, imagine how much worse it is going to get. So it is time to start practicing to keep and use your sense of deliciously ironic humor. Laugh at yourself, and everyone else. What a bunch of dumb asses! Am I right?

December Article

DEALING WITH NEIGHBORS

The government loves to frighten its citizens. Prior to the economy and hence the culture taking a big dump near sixty years ago, the government was actually a smallish affair ( although, granted, fighting the Cold War to keep industrial defense humming along-which was, ultimately, about as long term successful as our currently failed Consumer Economy ). They acted as final arbitrator enforcing cultural mores, which didn't require an untold amount of laws or regulations.

*

But once the cultural fabric caught on fire during the peace protests and ghetto riots, the government had to step up its hate campaign past suppressing communists ( which, hindsight and all, they never should have stopped doing ), until eventually everything was regulated and outlawed and the citizens needed to cower in fright in order for the gov to have SOME control ( although not as much as they think ). SWAT teams delivering court summons, red flag laws and Domestic Violence threats, Waco and Ruby Ridge, all were used to try to scare compliance into the public.

*

I won't even touch the racial or PC efforts, which are even worse than the few Jack Booted Thug moments that tax the forces of Kitten Stompers beyond their limited abilities. However, government attacks, like a traffic accident, as frightening as either prospect is, are low occurrence events. In other words, the odds are good, no matter how frightening the prospects, you most likely never come closer than slowing down passing the accident and being a lookie-lou. Obviously, you always practice Accident Avoidance. You don't make a fuss trying to incite violence against the government, and you drive defensively with a seat belt.

*

Surely you are old enough to remember when you didn't have to wear a seat belt. But even if you didn't wear one around town, because the traffic was so light, and was NOT full of illegal immigrants without insurance ( enjoy paying $125 a month car insurance? Thank immigration ), you STILL most likely buckled up driving on the Interstate. It was just taking extra precautions. Then of course we were all judged Perpetual Infants unable to make our own choices and the government enjoyed moving violation ticket revenue too much, to pay for the SWAT team, and seat belt use became mandatory.

*

My point here is that we don't need the law to tell us how to stay safe, but they do it anyway. It is part of putting the fear of God & Government into everyone. If the average law abiding citizen never had to deal with the police, because communities mostly dealt with their own problems ( how long ago was it that any pedophile priest, wife beater or creepey stalker was Vigilante Justice'ed? In most of our lifetimes, I'd wager ), then how can you spread fear? Answer, make the odds of being stopped for a traffic violation so high that every drive was stressful and anxious.

*

After that, you start to hear boogie men at night ( 3 a.m. raids ) and imagine the worst ( concentration camps, cell phone spying, weather manipulation ). And as a bonus, THEN you start having unrealistic expectations. If you believe in HARP, contrails, smart phone triangulation and the like, then how far fetched is Fracking Forever, Equal EROI For Alternate Energy, UFO's or Voting Matters? Your perceptions have been altered and you are now partially brainwashed. And I'm agreeing with you, the worst things you fear from the government ARE true, plus you have no idea how much worse it actually is ( Epstein Didn't Kill Himself ).

*

But you must retain perspective. At most, FLEA's are a fraction of one percent of the population, and like the infantry having far more logistics tails than actual pointy spear handlers, the FLEA's are mostly office workers and paper shufflers. There are almost no troops on the ground. Your odds of being harassed ONLY increase if you have been specifically targeted, and the odds of that happening are very low. Actually, you cannot tell me that each year there are any where close to thirty thousand cop killings and FLEA raids. But there ARE 30k traffic fatalities a year. Your odds are worse from driving than from Jack Booted Thugs.

*

Not to say the local cops won't make the odds worse, but I'm speaking of the Dreaded, Feared Federal Government Tyrannical Troops. And if you have moved to a small town like you already should have, and don't act the fool, the cops won't harass you there. Big city, more militant the cops. Easy equation. See how well the campaign of fear and intimidation has worked? You worry about the wrong threats. And you know who you DON'T worry about, but should? Your neighbors. Why aren't you afraid?

*

You think the federal government will fly in troops from two thousand miles away, because you copied a DVD of homosexual bondage love, or dropped a N-Bomb in an e-mail ( actually, not practicing Black Worship just MIGHT put you on the feds radar ), and yet you chose to live a hundred yards from a neighbor because, what? He is a nice guy so he would never think of shooting you when his children went hungry? At the end of the day, neighbors will be an immediate guaranteed threat and most likely the federal government will leave you well alone, busy guarding Congress Critters from Disadvantaged Youth*.

*

( *The day after I wrote the above-I took a day off as I had oodles of correspondence to catch up on-the news reports Marshals and the like are going to be protecting our Dear Leaders from the Orange Man Threat, a few days after the Capitol Hill riots )

*

How can you defend yourself against neighbors? Because there are NOT easy answers. Both “I'll shoot them all” and “Christian Charity” are simplistic deeply flawed strategies. I'll be honest, I'm strictly in the Shoot Them All Let God Sort Them Out camp. I simply cannot afford to feed both the Coneheads AND any neighbors. I'll barely make it out alive sharing my food with family, who I don't want, but need if I'll have any hope of surviving. We've discussed this. Unless you go Hermitage ( which is NOT the worst idea, but you must have the personality for it ), where being alone is an advantage, you need some tribe. And a terrible prepper you can trust is far better than a well trained and well stocked person you don't know well enough to trust.

*

And no, the answer is NOT to stock more food. Past a certain point, you are just paying for someone else's food. Have enough and it gets serious force applied to its misappropriation. And before you embarrass yourself and say “stock a years supply for each neighbor, only $150 each”, it isn't that simple. It is $150 each PERSON, not each neighbor, and you can bet a jelly filled donut that each neighbor will have butt tons of family they have show up or invite, and if you don't stock for them, each one of them, you become the target of a palace coup.

*

I BEG you, I implore you, I beseech you, for the love of all that is good and holy, listen to history and anthropology. The way tribe survives is to steal food or kill for food, and I do NOT mean that they steal food once hungry, or only kill in self defense. I mean, they WILL attack you for your supplies in anticipation of future need. Or kill you if they think you'll perhaps be a FUTURE threat. As on the tribal level, so on the smaller group level. Which are just embryonic tribes. You have, more than likely, not enough trust with neighbors. You'll never be a tribe. If they are already tribe, if you could trust them to have your back, to loan you money sure to never be repaid, to help you bury a body, great. Then they no longer are neighbors, but rather tribe. But JUST neighbors? Another kettle of fish.

*

And, it won't JUST be $150 a neighbor, because even if you have few neighbors, and no family will join them, what do you think is going to happen once that one year mark has been reached? Assuming the garden had issues, or any other numbers of issues made replacement food inadequate, what will your neighbor do then? NOT go hungry, if you have food, that's what. So you must store way more than a year per neighbor per person. But then, that just scratches the surface, doesn't it? Because what is the point of feeding neighbors if they don't help protect you? So now you must arm them, have enough ammunition for them.

*

Have cold weather gear for them, toilet paper, health supplies, and on ad nauseum. If they are going to be your new tribe, that you at least trust enough to supply them while you can form enough true trust that will bond you into a tribe, well then, they are worth supplying. But just staying neighbors? They will betray you. If you give them all their gear, they will waste it, lose it, barter it or take off with it. If you withhold all their gear, giving it out as if you were the supply officer, they will attack you for it.

*

Let us dispel one myth, brought up to me by a minion. If the neighbors want to take your food, they will also settle with destroying your food. It isn't JUST a case of “if I cannot have it, neither can you”. It goes much deeper than that. It is a matter of conviction. If you have the conviction to die defending someone, the enemy just might decide you are not worth dying for. If you have the conviction to steal another mans goods ( food, territory, wife ), be willing to fight him to the death, he might just surrender them without a fight. You must gamble your death, to win. But you MUST mean it, and display that conviction.

*

That is what neighbors might do, a form of that. That want your food. They are willing to do whatever it takes to get that. Even if it means having to burn you out, and consequently destroying the very thing they want. See how that works? You cannot defend your family if you are dead, but if you fight like you will even if that happens, you win. If you fight for what you want to steal, even if you don't end up with that ( another for instance-willing to massacre all the castle peasants even though you want them as slaves ), your CONVICTION is what is going to give you a huge advantage.

*

Now, conviction on your part is NOT an adequate strategy per se, if you think that alone will deter attacks. You must have the means to back up conviction. You might be really eager to kill all that oppose you, but if the neighbors can burn you out, or hit you with a sniper if you ever go out to get more firewood, or take out your solar panel that powers your well, then your conviction means diddly jack crap. And don't forget, you must have enough ammunition to “fight, not feed”.

*

Who has that level of ammunition? I had the perfect retirement retreat in east Texas, from a standpoint of gardening and fishing and minimal shelter. Close to town, but more of a village, and all for a few hundred bucks for the lot. But only about a hundred miles from the Dallas Fort Worth mega-urban-hive. How would I ever have had enough ammunition? And that was BEFORE Only Black Lives Matter made these considerations even more important.

*

Time for some tough love here, minions. Frankly, most of you are probably sad and pathetic on your ammunition supply. Do you have five thousand rounds for your bolt action rifle? Do you even have that much for your semi-automatic rifles ( and do you have back-ups to those rifles? ). How many guns do you have buried? How much ammo is cached? After the grocery store shortages almost a year ago, I sure hope most of you bought the crap out of storage food, no matter how pathetic. Even just white flour, because calories matter.

*

( Have you seen all that much more than a dozen-and that seems to be the maximum-five pound bags of flour at Wal-Mart at any one time this last year? The generic, I don't care how much of the $3 a small bag name brand they have. I've rarely seen more than two 25 lb sacks at a time. Of course, the pathetic media would have us believe-and I kid you not, I actually read this-that since we were all locked down and bored, we all decided to bake, and that was why we had shortages of flour. Do you understand the official state propaganda is covering up real food shortages? )

*

Do you even understand what the function of the media is? They are merely a branch of the government, and their only job is to Psychological Warfare the public. You REALLY think the media is a communist front for the Democrats? The business of America is Banker Business, and who would be the last industry to welcome a communist dictatorship? Yeah, the bankers. Communism is nothing more than racism and sexism and ageism, all Divide And Conquer strategies. You think I'm a racist, the amount of cavorting I do over the threat of Blacks in the coming civil war?

*

I would drop to my knees and suck Black ass, hug a Black and make him a lifelong friend, even learn how to rap about killing Whitey, if I could ally with Blacks and together we could overthrow the federal reserve bank and abolish banker rule. I'm only “racist” as far as I need to be to protect myself, and I know who the true enemy is even as I must protect against other threats. But, moving on. The media might pretend to hate Trump and Republicans, but who they really hate are citizens and threats to their profits.

*

The media is controlled by a few rich humpers, and they would in no way, shape or form EVER approve of a communist system. You old humpers fear communism, and so are controlled by the fear of our Great Republic turning communist. The young punks grew up worshiping communism and are controlled by the prospect of getting their Utopia. Both sides are played and the winners are the Imperial Party Dear Leaders ( with their butt buddies rolling in their billions in profits ).

*

Who else besides the bankers and government would benefit from the citizens being controlled and docile? The 1%'ers. And who owns the communist media? The 1%'ers. I have little doubt that the Useful Idiots such as media BobbleHeads and new CongressCritters fresh from bar-tending school, drunk dementia patients like Nancy Polosi and millions of other morons, all actually believe they are advancing a true communist system. Just like millions believed that Trump was more than a RINO Red Shield puppet.

*

True Believers make much better shock troops. But both Blue Staters and MAGA Morons are mere Brown Shirts, useful for street clashes and conveniently discarded at the appropriate time-and no, I actually don't mean to insult you. But if you don't target your true enemy, you are cannon fodder. Hey, I used to believe Libertarian Party candidates would usher in freedom ( the stupid twats are pimping for illegal immigration, now ). I don't believe I was stupid, I was just lied to and used. Just like you were with Trump. Hate him, not me.

*

Now, answer me this. If the media lies to you about everything, and want you dead ( if you are White, they want you dead, if you are Black, they want you to kill Whites, and if you die in the process, well, good job there, bucko ), why wouldn't they be lying about Every Gott Damn Thing? About Gore Warming, about the condition of the supply of food? About the condition of the economy? About the death rate of Corona? About the safety of vaccines? About politics?

*

Oh, what was that? Let me repeat. They Lie About The Condition Of The Food Supply! What are you going to do, research the government supplied numbers to get a different answer? The economy is failing. Corona is the coup de grace. The food supply, the oil supply and the supply of everything is failing. You cannot expect to remain alive, under a condition in which you are consuming a failing resource. YOU AIN'T THAT SPECIAL, dear snowflake. I ain't that special, and I have the exclusive love of Baby Jesus AND perfect hair.

*

Okay, NOW do you feel bad you don't have enough extra food? If I were you, I'd feel REALLY bad. But that is just me. And just to get it out of the way, remember me saying I won't buy any more food? I can maybe, sorta, kinda afford far more food. Triple what I have, if I spend a good portion of my savings. I say, “I can't afford it”, but what I mean is I'm anticipating a longer period of government rule when I must buy groceries, and my remaining lifespan would be shorter once on JUST stockpiled food.

*

So buying more storage food, I'm betting on the wrong horse. We must stock for during the collapse, not just afterwards. But say I went ahead and bought the crap out of storage food ( unlike your area of operations, wheat kernels remain in stock here in the area all you Yuppie Scum Survivalists love to hate, the desert [ and for all of you who will accept the desert, it must be the low desert because your fragile bones need to be at a constant super high temperature ], so now I have wheat AND a defensive moat and all you have is kudzu and water moccasins and no wheat ). What would be the purpose?

*

When I was in forth grade, I got to be the most popular kid in school. I had found five dollars, and we had a pharmacy on the other side of the fence of the elementary school. They sold every imaginable candy bar at a mere nickel each. Given this unexpected windfall, I did what any kid would do and bought the biggest of the bars, which were taffy. One hundred bars of taffy. I don't remember what my plan was, possibly have a stash in my desk, but they didn't last past the first recess. I was sharing my fortune with the few kids I liked and in less than two seconds I was surrounded, maggots on meat. I almost had to give them all away, or be crushed. And there were my ( less than ) fifteen minutes of fame.

*

Do you think your food storage among the neighbors will fare any different? The more food you store for the neighbors, the quicker you will have Instant Friends, and the more of them. Then, after they have used you like a $5 whore on payday, will leave you broken and bleeding in the gutter, awash in venereal diseases and regret. So, you are either abused by the neighbors, or word gets around to ANOTHER group who will invade/attack, because while a small families food supply might not be worth dying for, a neighborhoods food supply is well worth the risk.

*

Do you understand that you will be MORE abused, used, targeted and attacked the MORE food you have? Do you think rich guys ever find true love? Sure, that's the Hallmark Movie Of The Week myth, and about as realistic as laser guns from Star Wars ( or as realistic as Political Correctness in Star Trek ). Bitches just want your money, and neighbors just want your supplies. And they won't play nice to get it, even if they'll pretend at first. Here is your take-away. It is okay to hurt your loving friendly neighbors, because that is what they plan on for you.

*

And neighbors don't need to overwhelm you in a firefight. Your oodles and gobs of AR-15's ( I refuse to play semantics. CAR-15, NBAR, M2, whatthehellever. To me, they are all just AR's, or M-16's. Don't be a Grammar Nazi with your gun porn ) and super deluxe tactical training ain't dingus against a Molotov cocktail ( don't you love how suddenly there was “proof” of those at the Capitol Hill “riots”? If you trust the “Justice” system, you are a flaming moron, and that is an insult to retards ).

*

If the neighbors want you dead, it won't be difficult. You can never have enough to safely bribe them, and you'll never have enough bullets, or the manpower to employ them. Even your fireproof house is not going to work, if any half bright boy among the neighbors suddenly remembers what a catapult is. Sure, your stucco home has expensive steel window shudders. Is the roof reinforced enough to defeat primitive projectiles? Are all your walls covered by angles of fire? Can sappers dig under a wall? Money doesn't make a castle, if it was just an overpriced suburban peacock feather nest to begin with.

*

Bribery and defense won't work, and are too obvious in their weakness. But what about treachery? You only need enough food to fool your neighbors, as you plot to assassinate them. Yes, even the old people and children. And if you value your testicles while you sleep, even the pretty buxom babe neighbors. And if you are some nasty commie bleeding heart, you can always just capture rather than kill, and sell into slavery ( although fraught with its own dangers, as would be your enslaving them yourself, to start your own kingdom ).

*

I'm not some bitter old man, hiding out in my ancient mothers basement, cursing the world and making secret lists of my enemies to be eliminated ( okay, I'm bitter and I hide out at home-but that is Corona's fault. And I make Lamp Post Lists, but those are industries and occupations, not individuals. So that's okay! ). I don't want an apocalypse. I was more enthused about one when younger, when I would have had the testosterone to both gleefully slay my enemies and bed his lamenting women. But now both are just going to be hard work. But an apocalypse is coming.

*

You need to beware that Hard Things are part and parcel of an apocalypse. To be a weepy New Testament soy boy, dispensing Christian Love & Acceptance is not only a great way to get yourself killed, which no one will care about, you'll also get your family killed, one of which might be worth saving. You need to kill EVERYBODY that is not of your tribe. Any survivors will either eat your tribes food, or die very slowly and painfully-so you've done them no favors keeping them alive. It is merely culling the herd, to match the available grazing.

*

I'm not saying, go out of your way to kill. I'm suggesting that in your area of operations, there WILL be those you must kill. Don't shy away from that, no matter how unpleasant. Their death increases your family's and your tribes survival odds. Your neighbors are both in your area of operations and they WILL kill you, eventually. I'm not trying to desperately grasp at any excuse for a cold blooded murder spree. I'm telling you that the population will decline to resource availability, and that process has never been bloodless or without violence.

*

You don't get to pick if the collapse is violent or not, all you get to pick is if you want to make it easier for someone else to die or if you want it to be you and yours. A pretty simple question. Yes, I know, there are plenty of idiots who will search out a third option and waste time and then join the funeral pyre. Don't be an idiot. Your neighbors didn't help you ( again, remember, these are people living near you that will NOT be part of your tribe. Those that will be are exempted. And what do we say about tribe? They are the ones the nice rules apply to. Everyone else-EVERYONE, to include priests, babies, little old ladies-they get Mongol Horde rules applied to them ), they didn't help themselves. Kill or be killed.

*

But, you do it smart. Hug, hug, love, love, you are a special snowflake, hug, please allow me to take food out of my child's mouth to feed your worthless cancer ridden fat ass, your Blue voting ass, your greedy avarice ass. Your Mother Earth polluting ass, as you almost run me over on my bicycle with your SUV. Why, yes, let me reward you for voting for higher property taxes so you didn't lose any equity in your gum and glue hunk of sheetrock crap home. Here is the substance you require. Please, eat up.

*

Now, I wouldn't advise poison. Too easy to detect, and perhaps not simultaneously effective. You need other misfortunes to befall them, in a manner that doesn't point back on you. Perhaps you lead them into an ambush. Or, a fire breaks out at night and you respond along with the others to help fight it ( although you might get caught, seen, or your bitch whore wife turns on you, as she has had her eyes on the next door neighbor she would prefer to Play House with ). Perhaps you have a brother or good friend joining up with you, but they detour to act as an invading force.

*

Perhaps YOU want to leave the unfaithful hag of a wife, and get your secret affair girlfriend to accuse a neighbor of rape ( one doesn't imagine a rape kit or DNA match will be available, and you two can get kinky and rough, as “evidence” ), having a quick trial and hang him, with others help. You might even need to expel the rapists wife as she complains and accuses you of foul play. Perhaps poison would be applied to your wife, then you accuse another neighbor of being unfaithful and killing her to shut up her confession.

*

Kidnap some neighbors kids, for “food ransom”, and when the neighbor goes out to pay, you acting as back-up or potential ambusher bushwhack him and bury the food for later retrieval. I know, that exposes you to accusation yourself. You'd have to be careful. The same as if a neighbor going to pick berries gets ambushed-have a solid alibi. What if you get up in the middle of the night, sneak outside the perimeter and shoot one of the guards, then set fire to one place, shoot up a cabin, etc. You'll be able to slip inside your place quickly, then emerge as part of the defense force.

*

You could try the old “we must lock up all the guns in one central safe location”, although I'm not sure how well that would fly-better if your neighbors are liberals and don't have their own anyway. Then, go Gay Nightclub on them. I know, none are perfect. I'm just spitballing here. I'm almost wondering if a better tactic would be to attack them quickly, at first, before anyone joins forces. Perhaps you attack them ( along with the wife and friend ) at that meeting to decide on defense. I don't know. I don't have the details, just the direction. Good luck.
