yeasty

YEASTY
Last November, near as I can tell, I talked about the reindeer on the island die-off and the exponential growth of yeast in the vat, to illustrate why we are all going to die.  And, as much as I love you all and as extremely generous as you all are, so don’t think I’m complaining, I certainly do NOT recall being showered with gifts and praise for that series of outstanding articles.  So, as your punishment, you get a similar article.  I mean, I BARELY mentioned Peak Oil, and that was the thanks I received.
*
Man is no different than any other animal ( or plant.  Some of us are even dumber than houseplants ).  We are the apex predator, and we can take pride that a few skinny dudes can kill huge dangerous animals with pointy sticks.  I wouldn’t be bragging about some other stuff, like planting broccoli.  Broccoli, for humps sake.  I’d rather lick the fertilize out of the dirt.  We are better than all other animals, but we are STILL just naked apes.  We are programmed, and we evolved, to do the exact same thing as all other living organisms, and that is we overpopulate and die.
*
And I’m not talking about some Bush Bitch brood mare popping out one turd after another while a famine and genocide are going on next door.  Whites are little better, dropping spawn in their wake on the command of a guy with a REALLY ugly hat because he wants more donations on Sunday.  Then, when we need to have kids, we let our stupid bitches cross their legs until the place looks like Tijuana North.  No, humans in general like to breed like they were the first one to have the idea and they are making up for lost time.
*
Don’t get me wrong.  We NEED to breed like rabbits on Viagra.  The only true predator any human has is other humans, and those late to the breeding game get replaced.  It is literally breed or die.  We have that part down pretty pat.  No confusion there.  If the imperial Yuppie Scum won’t breed, the barbarians will.  The thing we have trouble with is the overpopulation part.  We can’t seem to quite grasp that kinda humping simple concept.  Whenever I hear some dumbass denying biology ( “oh, we’ve evolved.  We’re better than THAT” ), I think how retarded they are.
*
I really want to scratch my eyes out, scream in utter agony and then shoot blood out of my anus at high velocity.  How humping stupid are you, supposedly belonging to an intelligent species?  The stock answer for 99.999% of the population is, what overpopulation? What resource scarcity?  We are oh so far too intelligent to ever have to worry about that.  These are the idiots that are going to die.  And, I apologize, but I Honest Injun ( feather, not dot ) hope the process is painful.  Because these jackoffs are part of the problem.
*
People look at a chart with the population moving UP.  The same chart shows the energy and resources going DOWN.  And then they shrug and move away, on their way to go get another Starbucks latte.  When caffeine was first introduced to the Old World, it was used by  folks gathering to solve the problems of the universe.  Today?  It is used to wake up fat humps who cannot circulate the blood past the arterial obstructions.  Nothing can get these folks thinking.  Two by four boards have been outlawed.  And when learning is outlawed, you don’t get a whole lot of it.
*
Churchill was a lazy drunk with delusions of grandeur and as much strategic sense as an earthworm, but he was one funny mother humper ( “if I were your husband, I’d gladly drink the poison” ).  “Men occasionally stumble over the truth, but most of them pick themselves up and hurry off as if nothing had happened”.  Much more classy than my “people are Gott Damn retarded”.  And that is not me claiming to be all that bright myself.  I’m no more than average intelligence.  I merely study more and am extra paranoid.
*
I know I keep dropping his name, but there are so few prepper preachers that both post/publish daily and have their head out of their ass.  “Survival Prepping For Normal People” ( it irritates me a funny nickname has not materialized on this guy ) just passed on a story I found irresistible.  As tornadoes were touching down, a weather dude on TV interrupted a basketball game to warn people in certain areas they were in literal life threatening danger.  And the game itself wasn’t even preempted.  They just did a split screen, half game and half warning.  Can you guess what happened?
*
Hundreds, literally hundreds of people called in and demanded the guy be fired for interrupting their game.  Now, this is NOT because people today are any more retarded than the historical norm.  It is NOT because sports viewers are any more moronic than anyone else.  People are just a lot more rude than normal because there are no more cultural mores against that.  People were ALWAYS this stupid.  I will bet you a jelly filled donut.  Just betting you the donut, I’ve already won, because we ALL are stupid enough to eat that poisonous swill ( and, ask for seconds ).
*
My sense of humor tends towards laughing at the human condition ( this was pointed out to me-I’m not that smart to figure it out ).  I can laugh at you, and I can laugh at myself, because most of us are stupid.  Lately, I’ve been laughing my ass off.  Stupid is rampant.  The stupid floodgates are open fully.  We are all in a contest to determine who is the most retarded.  We are all so stupid, we need a panel of judges to find a winner, except the judges ain’t too bright either.
*
Overpopulating for decades.  Even here in ‘Murica.  Resource depletion, ESPECIALLY here, for decades.  And we go about our lives as if nothing is the matter.  Alfred E. Neuman, near everyone.  If you are offended, good.  Perhaps you’ll start using your head for something more than a hat rack.  Continued tomorrow.

cotton kills

COTTON KILLS
No, not an article on the superiority of wool over cotton in winter.  If you want another generic page waster like that, go to any other prepper publication that advertises MRE’s and FLIR scopes.  They will be happy to present several articles on that.  I love wool, and I still need plenty of cotton clothing to go with that in the winter.  No, I just used that title to get you all worked up, and because it amused me.  And it amused me to get you all riled.  And I’m easily amused.  Let’s talk about the grim future of cotton production.
*
This is not an alarmist screed decrying the impending demise of cotton because of Gore Warming.  My only point is that we will soon see the end of CHEAP cotton.  Perhaps the US will pass laws supplementing the growth of hemp, and we can all eat cheap hemp oil and wear cheap hemp clothing, but don’t hold your breath of that one.  Right now, cotton is king for plant fiber and that likely won’t change.  The default setting in this country seems to be to ONLY tightly embrace ancient ways and materials and never truly innovating.
*
That is easy to figure out.  With everyone losing their jobs, nobody is going to volunteer theirs to be on the chopping block.  An old inefficient method is preferable when that is your job ( even computing is pretty decrepit right now, the transistor being older than the Korean War ).  Every time you say, hey, promising technique X will save the day, well, how has that been working out for everyone so far?  Let me repeat, as you screech white noise and have your hands over your ears, peak energy means declining energy means entropy means system collapse means nothing saves the day.
*
When you are in a system decline, innovation is not allowed, if it is even possible.  You don’t have the resources to hold together what you already have, so there are no resources to do things differently.  The will does NOT create the means.  I WILL that I’ll sail across the ocean.  But since I don’t have the MEANS to buy a bigger boat, I use a tiny one meant for a pond, get swamped in a storm, and die.  Positive thinking usually means, in a declining resource situation, that you are positively a moron.
*
Now, if we can return to the subject at hand, hmmm?   Most of today’s cotton is grown in three environments.  Hot, crowded and dry.  Who thought it was a great idea to grow cotton in Arizona?  In southern California?  In Uzbekistan?  In west China?  In Oz?  It sounds wonderful, depleting water to “make the desert bloom”.  Until the water runs out.  Now, I don’t want to sound like some Gott Damn Gore Warmer.  I do not like Gore Warming, Sam I am.  I try not to hate too much on those that do, at least in the doomer sphere.
*
I’m not talking about the politically correct jagbag humpers wanting to tax me or to control my “wetlands” ( defined as anywhere there is any rain ever-thanks pant loads, scumbag EPA lapdogs ), the useful idiots.  I’m speaking of the survival writers who primarily focus on Gore Warming as the reason the end is nigh.  I think they are full of crap.  BUT!  Neither of us knows for sure, and we both preach the same message of Food First.  Too hot or too cold, you’ll need food storage to supplement that failing glittery unicorn permaculture patch you thought would feed you.
*
I don’t think Gore Warming is causing drought and irrigation failures.  I think overpopulation and energy decline is.  But even if I’m wrong, the food situation of Extreme Dire Crap from the 1970’s just prior to the Green Revolution saving our asses has returned.  And this time, there won’t be a Green Revolution ( 99% of the gains from GMO’s have been financial for a few mega-agri-corp’s, so don’t look to pull that rabbit out of the hat ).  Obviously, this is a screaming klaxon warning to over stock on food.  Got wheat?
*
But to the point of today’s article, it means most cotton production is in danger.  Extreme danger.  More people need more food.  We are pretty much unable to bring any more land under cultivation, which means cotton starts to compete with food for land use.  Cotton brings in money to very impoverished areas, and more people also need more clothing, so this isn’t something that will happen until there is no other choice.  Famine bitches don’t have any boobs anyway, so they don’t need much clothing.  But overlords do control land use, so the land WILL grow cotton until a food lead revolution dictates otherwise.
*
This means that cotton is produced until the breaking point, which means it is business as usual until suddenly, we see massive shortages and huge price hikes.  That is the only way change is forced into being.  By mob, after all hope is lost.  I can see you scratching your head in amazement.  Clothes be super cheap, yo!  Why is homey all wigging out?  Not sure if you noticed, but the norms of the industrial revolution are breaking down, hard.  Cloth used to expensive enough that England founded an empire on its profits.  An empire bigger than America’s.
*
Not that this is a completely fair comparison.  They are two different kinds of empire.  The Brits occupied and improved countries and the US only controlled the appointment of a local dictator, then profited off loaning them the money to buy infrastructure from American companies.  At one time, now long ago, the US might have defacto controlled more area, but I don’t think you can say they worked as hard or invested as much as the Limey’s.  In terms of effort, the Americans were ( yes, WERE, past tense ) lazy, greedy slackers building empire.
*
Will you be able to afford expensive clothing?  By that time, you are unemployed or have severely cut hours, the price of medical insurance is 110% of the median wages, gas is $10 a gallon and you haven’t had a raise since the Obammy administration.  Clothing will be relatively unaffordable, no longer being the mass production item it used to be.  Kind of like quality shoes are now, but worse.  In the end, both ethanol and cotton land WILL be returned to food crops.  That is an inescapable trend.  You must stockpile now, for the rest of your life.
*
Does this suck?  I know, you’d rather be stockpiling freeze dried food and AR’s.  I would too ( not that I’m crazy about AR’s, but they are both really cheap and good ghost guns right now ).  Want in one hand and defecate ( after a night of spicy Mexican consumption ) in the other and see which runs over full first.  Instead of toys, my budget dictates necessities first.  In a warm clime I could get away with just shorts ( accompanied by skin cancer ).  Here in the high desert, I need lots of clothing.  It is a small price to pay for less population.
*
And I’m not just talking about stocking up at the thrift store right now.  You need socks, with all the walking you will be doing.  Underwear is nice, unless you enjoy the prospect of bringing home the soiled underwear from combat patrols and trying to salvage them.  What about all the outdoor and tactical gear you think you need?  This is a small problem right now, and easily and cheaply remedied if you catch it before it becomes a big problem ( notice I didn’t even introduce the trade war and tariffs as a possible extra component to rising prices? ).

hookers and blow budget

HOOKERS AND BLOW BUDGET
How about reducing your budget drastically, as a way of getting ready for increased unemployment and worse inflation?  I don’t think anyone needs to reduce their urban budget just to be able to prep.  My goodness, prepping is so cheap it is laughable.  Not that I want everyone to prep.  I like my wheat and my reloading components nice and cheap as they are.  Really, I don’t care if everyone prepped.  Because they would STILL come after my stuff.  Because most people are retarded.  And retards stock the wrong supplies.  Wasting it, and then there not being enough and then they bother me anyway.
*
With all due respect to those advocating “just a few hundred rounds, because you won’t last past the first firefight”, do you have any clue how poor of a shot most people are?  And 99% of those think suppressive and covering fire is a great idea, because they heard some military guys did it.  Yeah, Spanky, they also run TOWARDS fire.  Are you sure these are the guys you want advice from?  They also think being one of the biggest users of petroleum by organization in the world isn’t a problem.  Do you hear Jesus weeping?
*
Anyway, I shan’t focus on the fallacy of “if everyone prepped we’d all be safer”, or discuss when you should stop prepping for the apocalypse and start just worrying about this economic collapse.  Even if you were stacking silver and ammo, and filling plastic jugs with wheat every day, prepping still wouldn’t take that much of your income.  Why?  Because even going crazy with prepping, and I mean hog wild like with junk land and alternate energy, you wouldn’t come close to half of what a cheap new car costs.
*
Simply, most people live as if their budget included cocaine and prostitutes.  And I don’t mean crack whores and meth, as cheap as those can be relatively.  I mean the good old fashion 1980’s Miami Vice era classy hookers and real cocaine.  Think about that for a second.  The middle class used to be able to party with decent drugs.  I mean, sure, quality has been going down for fifty years.  The LSD I got hold of back in the day had almost no hallucinogenic properties.  The best thing it was for was allowing you to drink all night without passing out.
*
But I’m talking about the financial wherewithal to have the extra cash to party, if one so desired.  Now?  The best most people can do is stay on antidepressants hopefully they can score from their insurance policy ( come to think of it… is that why you are all so insistent you must keep your overpriced under performing health insurance? ).  Now it’s a seriously wild weekend if you can afford a Little Caesars $6 pie and a $2 Redbox rental.  Damn, now I want pizza, even one with a total of sixteen pieces of pepperoni and less cheese than a sandwich.
*
I won’t deny that living in the city is insanely expensive.  And living anywhere is expensive if you live a conventional standard of living.  But I also know you can live on far less, if you so desire.  And you don’t even have to desire because “we are all going to die!”.  How about simply being able to live on Social Security instead of working until you die?  That alone would get me motivated, especially seeing these sad sacks in their upper sixties or even their seventies still sucking corporate ass for a pittance.
*
Talk about Charlie Brown continuing to fall for the old football gag.  Don’t these senior pukes realize they are being worked into an earlier grave?  If you are working for your medical insurance, you might be better off without it.  If you are working for rent, at that age, where did your planning go wrong?  I’m not trying to be offensive.  My parents are in that situation, even if it is self-inflicted.  I’m simply asking, doesn’t that motivate you to change your life style?  How exactly are you spending fifty grand a year?  And still not making ends meet?
*
And good Dog, I am NOT talking about pussy steps like cancelling the cable and not drinking Starbucks.  That is chump change.  I’m still living on my wages from thirty years ago, because even then I kept my spending at half of my minimum wage job and had the other half as disposable fun money.  Even when I didn’t have a car, or a bike, I just walked the half hour to Wally and got a taxi home with the months groceries.  When rent got high, I took in roommates.  When I had less coming in I ate cheaper.  When I had extra I still lived like that and invested in preps.
*
None of this is hard.  My daughter took eight years to get her degree, working the whole time ( at usually poor wages, it being a tourist town ) and living in the actual “I hear gunshots every night” ghetto.  That crazy bitch has bigger balls than me.  Granted, her generation thinks a phone is an actual necessity, but by and large she lived poor.  Why do you think it sucks to live like you are a college student, decades later?  You just need to reward yourself for doing so, but in a non-monetary manner.
*
For most workers, they squeeze out a pittance from their paycheck and that is their reward for working.  All the parasites get the rest.  And they spend 0% of the time grateful and 100% of the time trying to get more from you.  That includes the spouse, the kids, the boss, the landlord, tax collector and everyone else.  Kids don’t NEED your money, even if they think they do. You shelter them, feed them, and try to train some of the dumb ass out of them.  While showing them love.  If they want money, go earn it you lazy twat.
*
Your best bet is to need and to earn far less money, and shifting your focus to doing what you love to do.  No, not snorting coke off a hookers deliciously smooth ass.  Monetize your passion.  It is all part of prepping, getting to that self-employed place so you can move anywhere.  The lifestyle while you work two jobs?  Drastically reduce it.  You won’t care as you are busy building your dream.  And it doesn’t even matter if that self employment never works.  The journey is more important than the destination.
*
Then, as you and your spouse’s hours are cut and prices skyrocket, you have insulated yourself from that, as a bonus.  Now, granted, you have Evil Spouse to deal with.  Hey, that is your problem.  You married the broad.  How exactly does she propose keeping herself in this lifestyle as the economy is taking a big squishy?  If you wait until you are forced to drastically cut the budget, things will not be as pleasant.  Does she love you, or your wallet?  I know the answer-do you?  We’ve had these discussions before.  I’m sure many of you are sitting pretty.
*
This is just targeting the new dudes who think prepping is MRE’s and AR’s ( with FLIR’s-duh! ).  If you don’t want to leave the city or the nice paycheck, at least live like a peasant and invest the money now while you can.  And be ready for the crap show that cometh.

democracy danger

DEMOCRACY DANGER
Democracy has its fans.  Notably, people getting what they want at the time and the politicians giving it to them.  Most of us, however, are a bit more aware than Wendy Welfare and realize democracy is nothing except Mob Rule.  The perfect example being South Africa where the OtherColors are voting to, literally, legally genocide Whites.  So, we have that to look forward to, as the Democrats here get all soft and gooey over The Popular Vote deciding elections.  Let me be clear on this.  They have publically stated they want to kill us, not merely disenfranchise us.
*
Yes, a lot of the idiots are just that, screeching aimlessly as they virtual signal to all and sundry.  They are indeed the children that the revolution will eat.  And yes, Deplorables have a lot of guns.  That your Orange Man Savior is trying to take away with Red Flag Laws ( but we’ll pretend that will end up only as dangerous as spousal abuse gun bans ). And there is the issue of the US losing global power and possibly radically shrinking economically.  Will Political Correctness be needed while Globalism recedes?  Will College Marxism survive the closures of colleges?
*
Is democracy as big of a danger as we think it is, or is it another overblown hyped up piece of Doom Porn?  Take a quick look at YouTube and we have one guy telling you the 2020 elections will go to the Republicans since Democrats ignored some states ( this assumes the Popular Vote scheme succeeds ) last time, and another guy telling you one of the One Percenter wackadoodle Dems will impose total gun control when voted in ( or, if not, the Dems go total meltdown protest over their not winning again ).  I’d say emotions are rather high here.
*
We need to keep a few things in mind.  As much as you would all love to believe it, your vote doesn’t matter.  When it does matter, it still doesn’t matter.  You might recall back when California wasn’t quite so bat crap crazy, and the voters, through referendum ( which is in theory allowing them to bypass political or corporate strangleholds ), voted against all the illegal immigration.  The state declared their choice unacceptable, and just kept doing what they wanted to do, not a care in the world about this pesky voting thing.
*
I don’t completely discount voting, as we talked about recently.  But your vote is subject to being overridden by money interests that control a lot of the system.  Do you think a 100% popular vote to abolish the Federal Reserve would actually work?  HahahahaHAHAH!!!  Oh, you are SOOooooo cute when you get emotionally invested!  The only thing that would abolish the Federal Reserve would be mobs with torches and pitchforks.  The only thing that will dismantle the military industrial complex will be losing all colonies and most funding.  Any popular vote MUST align with the desires of the elite.
*
Which means that if the elite want total gun control, they will get it.  Regardless of who is President and regardless of the will of the people.  Those fearing a coalition of states Popular Voting in a Democrat that takes your guns are forgetting this is possible now, under Trump, or later, under the Electoral Vote.  Fear of the popular vote are well grounded, but it still pays homage to the myth that Voting Matters.  That is all your national vote is, a myth.  The candidates are preselected and both Democrats and Republicans  belong to the Imperial Party.
*
Not to say that won’t change.  But when economic forces defund the Imperial Party, the country is going to Balkanize anyway.  Your vote doesn’t matter in another country, then.  This fear of the popular vote, or pure democracy, assumes the proles will be allowed a say at what is for dinner at the masters table.  Silly Deplorable, the slaves eat in their shacks, and your menu is always cornbread and beans, not leg of lamb with jelly sauce.  If your vote doesn’t matter, if only Party members are on the ballet, democracy and a Constitutional Republic are BOTH fantasies.
*
Fear of the popular vote assumes we have to worry about there being a remaining piece of the pie to fight over.  So, not only are you delusional about how far gone the power of the people is, you are equally deluded about how powerful and rich our empire is.  We can’t even control a little crapbird country like Venezuela anymore, people.  Come on!  An empire that is policed with Virtue Signaling military  OtherColors and OtherGenders officers and personnel in combat roles, as political appointees.  How well did a similar Soviet military do against the tiny country of Finland?
*
( As an aside, I get all excited about PBS having a streaming service.  Hey, I remembered good things about several of their TV shows back in the day.  Their radio sold out to the check writers-and I don’t mean you and I sending in a donation-when they went from breaking news during the ’08 financial meltdown to a boring monotone “all is well.  Do not panic.  All is well”.  But I still had high hopes for shows like “Nova”.  Nope.  Total crap.  A show on ancient horse warriors, and there were FemiNinja’s riding in the war party.  Jesus weeps )
*
This stuff is NOT rocket surgery folks.  When you hit Peak Silver, eventually it WILL run out.  When you run an economy on debt as jobs disappear, should you REALLY be surprised when the mall gets boarded up?  When they started mining junk ore deposits twenty-five years ago, why are you shocked when the price of steel keeps rising?  When all the boreal forests are bulldozed, where do you think toilet paper is going to come from?  And when resources are all running out, how do you think this country will remain an empire?
*
Surplus allows us to keep the immigrant floodgates open.  Which, I need to remind you, BOTH political parties collude on.  Immigrants do not add to the economy, they subtract from it.  More resources are used.  Now, shut off that surplus spigot, and what do you get?  Resource wars.  And that goes beyond the voting issue.  Look, I’m in Gold Mining Central here.  If I look to the past ( mining became the state economy ), and the present ( keep throwing fuel at the problem and you’ll always find SOME ore ), I might think this town will always be supported by mining.
*
But if I do the math, I realize that one day there won’t be the spare energy to mine such a diffuse supply of gold, no matter the selling price.  If I was to live in a prosperous state, oh, say, Texas, and I looked at the past ( oil for the last century ), and then the present ( fracking oil bonanza ), I might think the state will always have surplus.  But if I do the math, I realize Texas is about to crap the bed on energy extraction, with the economic consequences making the 80’s contraction look positively giddy.
*
You CANNOT just look at history and the present and assume things.  You must extrapolate.  Which, yes, has gotten a bad rap lately.  But that is always used by the Pollyanna’s, the Optimistic Ollies.  The example they ALWAYS use is, look, England ran out of trees and then discovered coal.  Yeah, dumbasses, and then when they ran out of coal their economy went into the toilet and never recovered.  Do you know WHY political correctness is so out of control in England?  Their resource base is so depleted the fight for the shrunken pie is that much more vicious.
*
Do you think the popular vote there matters?  That everyone WANTS Muzzies running around knifing them and getting away with White underage prostitution rings?  Of course not.  The elite there nullify the vote.  Because resource contraction ( they Peak Energy’ed a century before us ) gets the only vote, ultimately.  By pretending that the popular vote is to be feared, that is just another way we pretend that our energy supply isn’t contracting ( remember, it IS, in net terms ).

no haircut for you 2

NO HAIRCUT FOR YOU 2
I don’t mean to confuse anyone.  “But, Jim, you keep screaming from the rooftops that the end is nigh and we are damn fools for having semi-autos but not enough food.  What gives?  Should we panic or should we ignore survivalism and pursue or life wishes?”  Well, that ties in with the title.  You always hear, “don’t ask a barber if you need a haircut”.  That means, you take peoples self-interests into account when judging how relevant their advice is to you.  Because advice is always tainted.  How can it not be?  People are a sum of their experiences and desires.

All these dingus slurping sell-outs, these greedy whores profiting off the wire stripping from the House Of Empire, their livelihood is tied up in the status quo, in Business As Usual.  Of course they can never admit This Suckers Going Down.  It isn’t as if they are lying to you.  They aren’t.  They genuinely believe they are too smart to be fooled and they are too sexy for their shirt.  They never would have hitched their horse to the wrong wagon, and they are doing Gods Work.  I’m serious.  Everyone self-justifies, lying poorly to you and perfectly to themselves.
*
If you ask me, are we all going to die, I mean, well, DUH!  Of course we are.  I’m going to admit I spent nearly thirty years in a pursuit of excellence for an event that won’t happen?  It doesn’t matter I truly feared and believed and that lead me to write about and prepare for such an event.  I am in fact following my convictions.  But you cannot deny there is at least some ego and self-justification involved.  No matter how well meaning, I’m still a barber profiting of you getting a haircut.
*
Does this mean I’m full of crap and a collapse is so far away it doesn’t matter?  Of course not, and I doubt many of you think that.  Nobody stays here that needs daily preening that their choice of MRE’s and FLIR scopes is Good Think.  I’m preaching to the choir.  But you have to ask yourself, still, how good my advice is.  After all, I went and pursued my life passion.  I love reading and deciphering the mechanics of social orders.  That is my overriding passion, not writing per se.  If I could have, I would have been a teacher.
*
Not that I COULD.  I despise the educational system.  And I don’t care about teaching, I only care about the subject matter.  So why torture myself putting up with jam-hands curtain climbing miniature retards?  Yeah, that applies to college students as well as second graders.  Writing was a far better choice.  The fact I loved the field of survivalism, and believed in the need with all my heart, made the subject matter simple to choose.  But, again, it isn’t my life passion.  That is social studies.  Hey, screw you, I don’t make fun of your postage stamp collecting.
*
The fact of the matter is I haven’t lived my life as if survivalism is everything.  I’ve lived my life as if what I want to do is study and decipher.  Survivalism ties in with that nicely, but it IS secondary.  It might not seem like it, because I’m very serious about prepping.  The extra pieces of land, living in the middle of the desert, the twelve or so man years of food, insane amounts of ammunition, many life choices filtered through the Apocalypse Worthy decision tree.  As I said, I DO believe we are doomed, soon.
*
But I’m lucky in that prepping ties in with my life passion.  After all, you can read in a bunker just as well as a mansion.  If there were no book sellers or Internet, and I had to live in a big city to research, I know I would.  I’d make as many preparations as I could mitigating the danger, but my primary focus is living my passion.  Survivalism gets sloppy seconds.  And why?  As if you need to ask.  Because we get ONE life, and I’m going to do what I love.  Because I CAN.  Being a ‘Murican has gifted me with the gift of being able to choose my life.
*
Even living like a bare ass savage, that way of life surrounds me with a safety net.  I can eat cheap, knowing communicable diseases is still largely kept in check.  I can live in less of a heightened awareness of violence because the affluence surrounding me demands law enforcement presence and a military shield.  Instead of bribing a local warlord to protect me, I get that nearly free arrangement by default.  I can live like a peasant ( it all being relative obviously ), enabling me to devote my life to my passion.
*
So, I don’t have to answer the question, “have I wasted my life prepping”.  This is a serious question.  Some folks wake up to retirement one day and ask, hey, my life just passed away and I’m not happy.  Some folks, we lucky few, wake up towards the end of our life and ask, damn, that was it?  I spent so much effort prepping for the apocalypse, and it still isn’t here, and what have I done with my life?  That is a sad, depressing conversation to have with yourself.
*
I got lucky, and only wasted SOME of my life.  Like my father, I thought my job was going to be my life focus.  I thought I wanted a life in the military, but that turned out to be a corporate kiss-ass Politically Correct bureaucratic life, like any other soul sucking private sector job, just in funny looking uniforms.  It wasn’t Old Timey ice cream delivery dude uniform funny, but it was close.  Other than that, it was just another corporation.  So, I floated groundless after that, for a time.  Then one day I realized I wanted to be more than a wallet to the ex-wife.
*
The rest is history.  Even if you are old, it is never too late to start.  Live life as if quality mattered instead of quantity.  There is no reason to live long if you don’t really care for that life.  If you decide to go all in on your dream, if that degrades your preparedness, well, tough noogies.  You’ll die sooner, but as long as you die happy, where was the harm?  I’d rather lose readers and supporters, knowing you started fulfilling your life passion.  No matter what it is.
*
I mean, did you hear mine?  Reading to understand what makes society and people tick.  What is under THAT cover?  On the face of it, that seems a silly thing to be passionate about.  It doesn’t matter how silly it is, what matters is that yours is the passion that burns hotter than a thousand suns.  It is what makes YOU happy.  I don’t mean happy in sloth or sin, but what you enjoy doing that is a positive activity.  Video game playing is just sloth, but playing and developing them or researching them in depth analyzing and dissecting, perhaps making YouTube videos-SOMETHING, anything constructive-that is a life dedicated to a passion.
*
Even if you are just enabling others to waste their life playing video games, as long as you are creating and building, not just consuming, that is still a life worth living.  So what if your legacy was an online magazine of video game reviews.  If it helped others enjoy life as you did yours, isn’t that a win?  Who is to say others playing video games wasn’t just a stress relief from a non-profit job helping disaster victims?  You can’t judge others lives as worth living, just your own.
*
Your life is short.  The life of our empire and hence our surplus is short.  Enjoying while you can is no sin.  Do you still need to prepare?  Sure.  Just don’t lose sight of what can make you happy, even if that means you trade in for security to some degree.  But this is your last chance to do what you love.  Soon, it will just be a return to toil and lack of choices.

no haircut for you

NO HAIRCUT FOR YOU
I want to thank the minion that wrote to me and inspired this article.  The life lived in between.  Instead of my usual question, “are you prepped yesterday to survive tomorrow”, I want to ask you this.  What did you do with your life?  I don’t mean this to be, have you lived an important life.  Fame and fortune is irrelevant.  Mostly because none of it will matter very shortly, as the current paradigm is destroyed.  There very well might be a bottleneck event, and nothing any of us do will survive as legend on the other side of that.
*
Well, okay, it COULD.  The few survivors could have a solar panel and DVD player, and a copy of The Terminator, and they watch it so many times ( that being the only hard copy they had because the dumb asses thought Streaming was forever ) that it becomes a bed time story to their kids and in time it becomes known by one and all that all these wonderful artifacts they are digging up was from a time when Skynet tried to kill humanity ( but was defeated by Windows Blue Screen Of Death, presumably ).
*
But the fame of the actor Arnold?  No, that matters not and was not preserved at all.  Fame is fleeting and fortune fickle.  Unless you store silver or gold, but even then you cannot take it with you and your lazy ingrate spawn get it all.  One doesn’t imagine you get a portrait in the hallway for all your generosity.  And even if we don’t have a bottleneck event, or, it isn’t bottleneck as in historically when ten thousand humans survive, globally, but it is a bottleneck in relation to our current population, even then your fame won’t survive the Dying Time.
*
So, because folks were kind of busy surviving, and created their own hero’s out of that, your fame currently means dingus.  And even if you save gold and silver ( and yes, AFTER everything else, and I mean EVERYTHING down to ten years of clothing and shoes and back-up PV panels and dozens of nail clippers kind of attention to detail, THEN you can buy silver.  And I can’t reiterate this enough.  One day it will be worth more than today’s gold in purchasing power.  The only question is if you live to see it ), in your life it probably means little.
*
The only thing that really matters, after the basics of life such as food, shelter, protection and health are taken care of, is your time.  Perhaps you don’t realize what kind of gift that is, historically speaking.  Ever since those bastards started crapping in a hole and throwing a particularly hearty specimen of grain in there to make up for the scarcity of wild plant gathering endangered by overpopulation, men have barely had any spare time to themselves.  Oh, it isn’t dusk to dawn toil, not by any means.  You have time off.
*
But you don’t have time to enjoy life.  You can make the best of life, enjoy the feast days and visiting with friends on market day.  Women socialized as they labored, as did men.  When the civilization wasn’t imploding from overworking the soil, it was a satisfying life.  But you didn’t have the choice to do what you wanted with your life, did you?  Even today, plenty of folks are still stuck worrying about just getting enough to eat, while trying to avoid getting AIDS.
*
( A fascinating book, true or not, on Jim Jones and the fabricated disease, “The Second Holocaust” by Michael Meiers.  At first it seems a bit pricey for a 150 page book, but it is a condensed version of his earlier book that sold for over $100.  And if you add up what it would cost to buy the many books he references, it is a steal.  It seems that in the 60’s and 70’s, a lot of mischief was stirred up by a small cast of characters.  Jim was the thick of several defining events, from Diane Feinstein’s rise to power in California, the Milk assassination, Patty Hearst and CIA mercenaries in Angola ).
*
( He also was a great mind control experimenter, and had connections with Operation Paperclip Nazis.  He took over a former CIA training camp that was conveniently close to the Venezuela border, which would become Jonestown.  The presence of all the Americans there also helped finally resolve the border dispute, giving more land to The Company controlled country.  Jonestown was a duel purpose MK Ultra experiment-testing if suicide was voluntary- and later the means of testing AIDS against Blacks.  It seemed to be a targeted weapon.  Again, if you buy into the whole theory ).
*
In a select few areas of this ball of mud we would only be so lucky to have demolished for an interstellar off-ramp,  there is enough looted wealth or mineral treasure to allow people true choice in how they want to live their lives.  Want to travel the globe by Playing Poor?  No problems.  Work a monkey spanking job, save up, take off.  Not that this isn’t now rather dangerous.  Our imperial sway has decreased dramatically since the CIA was running half the world’s dictators.  But, you could work a year, buy a used sailboat, fix it up just on the pay of odd jobs and sail away.
*
You can buy your own land on mere weeks of pay and become a hermit the rest of your life.  You can start businesses on little but hard work ( yes, still, even with Leviathan Bureaucracy ).  You can even do near impossible things, on little resources.  Say you wanted to be a veterinarian.  I know, right?  Because I always dreamed of sticking my arm up a cows ass.  But, hey, different strokes.  You could work a little here, go overseas to a much cheaper college and get a job working with peasant there.
*
The whole point is the empire allows its subjects the ability to dream and make dreams come true, all because in relation to most of the colonies, everyone here gets lots of surplus energy and wealth.  There was a dreadful artsy-fartsy Oscar Bait movie in the 80’s with Bill Murray.  The Razors Edge.  The movie stuck with me because the character worked in a coal mine to be able to afford to go seek enlightenment in India ( or some such.  The point was peasant work in the empire afforded Kings luxuries ).
*
Most of us are blinded to this, as a tree in the forest.  I’m going to cover that tomorrow.  Few of us take advantage of it.  And, my main point here, are you wasting time prepping when you should be doing what you love instead?  I know, you can do both.  Sometimes.  But how many of us are so fearful that we aren’t doing what makes us happy in life?  Mainly, that is the fear of not wallowing in luxury and/or security.  But, all that and more next time.  I know, I wasted a bit of the word count on AIDS, but don’t complain. I could have tripled that.
