SHEEP DIP

note: "Endless Enemies" arrived in the mail.  Thanks!
note: I've got the blogs on sale in PDF.  The first two years of this current blog:

and the complete James M Dakin Blog:

These are a lot nicer than the original blog book.  You can click in the table of contents and go directly to the article.  The original is just a mess of copy and paste one document with no order.

Okay, sorry about the ten day detour re-writing the Frugal Survivalist.  I know all of you are familiar with it.  I just felt compelled to rush it out there and beg you to disseminate far and wide.  Spread the message and hopefully to those that are not familiar with the concept.  When you used to get half length articles I could write books in my spare time-now that you get the full length any book I want to write must appear on the blog as articles.  Now we can get back to current events to give the above a short rest.  The police shootings in Dallas and Shreveport and the Sheepdog concept ( as you can tell from this articles title, I call Bull Spit or Sheep Dip on it, a play on words which is my wont to engage in as I gaze in wonderment at my glorious coiffeur in the reflective surfaces and entertain myself ).

*

I’m not going to engage in racial excuses, or libertarian rhetoric or jingoistic bombast.  The Blacks have been playing the “occupying force in the United Slave States” against the police since the ’60’s.  There might have been a few redneck cracker cops in the Deep South way back when that gloried in suppressing the Negro, and there might have been plenty of White cops who was racist.  And there still might be.  But 99% of police are there to uphold law and order.  Even if they know they are helping to suppress dissent for their federal overlords, the bulk of their mission is The Thin Blue Line.  Twenty odd years ago when I was young and libertarian ( some never outgrow it, but there is usually a monetary incentive to stagnate intellectually ) I would have been mumbling about how the forces of evil and there henchmen were getting what they deserved.  Now, I see the need to suppress a lot of folks natural desires for freedom ( you can maximize freedom according to certain social organizations, but you can’t do so as much as libertarians dream of.  Coercion is necessary on some scale for humans to function in a group ).  And I won’t jump on the flag waving and thank First Responders for their service and give the cops a free pass to screw with citizens to the extent they have been ( most of which isn’t even the rank and files fault, but the systems ).

*

You could write volumes on all of the above.  But other than filling in for a slow Doomer News Day, I don’t see much point right now.  To me, the take away from the shootings is that it really seems that Nobody Gives A Crap.  We might as well replace our national mascot from the eagle to the honey badger.  Now, you know me.  I am a callous and heartless hump who cares little for others outside my immediate circle.  I felt no sadness over the death of others, even policemen ( very little fraternal bond, there.  I didn’t realize until later on that I had no aptitude for law enforcement, but prior to that I felt it was a contradiction to my philosophical outlook anyway.  If I had stayed in for an early retirement I would have just been an amoral mercenary.  I tend to judge other cops in that light.  If they believed in freedom they would find another job, irregardless of the bulk of their duties being beneficial social order ).

*

What I did feel, increasingly as the days passed, was a sense of dread that our society has reached this point of indifference.  As heartily as the police pound themselves on the back for a job well done keeping order, by and large it takes a committed and cooperating citizenry for them to do that job.  For almost every citizen to shrug in indifference when the police are gunned down says a lot about where we are in the collapse curve.  Such as, are we applauding rebel forces?  How close are we to joining the violent dissent if we can’t even pretend concern?  I understand we are world record uneducated, but isn’t the knowledge we need to keep anarchy at bay somewhat primal and constant?

*

Is this really the end result of unintended consequences from Political Correctness ( if we are brainwashed into worshipping Blacks regardless of action, are we required to automatically assume police guilt as a class and applaud armed insurrection )?  Or do we assume imminent collapse and see this as inevitable and hence have no surprise or fear over it?  Were the shootings considered okay because they were Southern White cops ( the south as a colony demands unbridled hatred be directed at its occupants, as is appropriate from an invader towards the resisters )?  One thing is crystal clear however, and that is you had better quickly rethink all the propaganda directed at you by the III%’ers and Militia Mopes about the noble occupation of being a Sheep Dog.  If we are okay with sanctioning the deaths of the official Sheep Dogs, you as an armed and vigilant citizen version of the same will be quickly thrown under the bus.

*

You think you are a cop/soldier wanna-be going around armed and trained and ready to save innocent bystanders from marauding terrorists or other assorted Bad Guys?  You are an idiot.  To save yourself?  Sure-that is common sense.  Your family?  If you have any self respect and/or testicles, of course.  But strangers?  You are going to chance going to jail, or almost as bad, getting grievously injured or killed,  to save ingrate stupid humpers?  Where is your head?  Cops get killed, the attitude is “stupid white cracker deserved it”, and you want to put it all on the line to save them?  They deserve to die.  Not for being stupid.  But for NOT being part of your tribe.  Ten years ago, maybe a bit longer, I’d say an armed and vigilant citizen sheep dog was a good thing.  Now, I’d say they are more likely to just be a martyr.  You don’t need gratitude necessarily but you certainly don’t need to fight a system designed to sacrifice you when to try to do a good deed.  The systematic collapse, and the systematic class/race/gender and generational warfare are against you.  Don’t play into the hands of power run amok.

  1. Still not clear if what has changed is the actual rate of killings of citizens by police, or just the ability to capture it on video and get media coverage. No one keeps good records of how often police kill citizens (no date on purpose). The rate of citizens killing cops has actually been going down for a couple of decades, and this year is likely to be no exception to that. So, I think a lot of the mess we're seeing is a combination of the media finding something new to capture our attention and the citizen response to that lovely bit of sharing by creating their own high profile events. It's all good for ratings, and that's what seems to matter most to the powers that be.

The sheep dog concept seems to me to be a way for people to give themselves social status and advocate for others to also carry a concealed firearm because of the appeal of seeing yourself as having a special status in society: the sheepdog, protector of the sheep. Demeans those who don't carry as the lowly sheep, so I say f-you. Figure out another way to get over your junior high obsession with social status.

    1. Agree with the last-newest way to bloviate. As for cop killers, and cop victims, remember it is somewhat skewed by the racial preferences of his administration.

  2. When that congress lady got shot in the head a couple years ago there were a couple of CCW holders in the crowd. They did not draw on and/or shoot the assailant. Most CCW holders are going to touch there gun only when they are convinced that violence is going to be perpetrated on them or theirs - at least in practice that is how it plays out, no matter what is said otherwise.
But I agree - a CCW holder intervening in any sort of violent incident is at least as likely to become a target of the authorities or press as they are to be faced with the other options (ignored or acclaimed).
Zimmerman v. Martin is a perfect example of this.
The guy thought he was being a hero (both of them in fact thought that in their own way) It erupted into violence - the cops believed Zimmerman when he said he was on the ground near the end of the violence - and thus had the right to defend himself with his gun from further assault. Then the national press got ahold of the incident - and now there is a significant number of people who wish to do him, personally and specifically, harm

    1. I think we usually agree on principles but with two totally different perspectives, the details usually trip us up.

  3. Of course, as Karl Denninger pointed out, in a close-range situation where the exits are blocked, sometimes your best chances of survival are to act like a hero and go on the offense so the attacker is no longer in control. But yeah, other than those "dead anyway" situations, I can count on one hand the number of people I would be willing to sacrifice my life for if the other option were a clean getaway.

    1. Better still, stay out of places where you can get killed. Situational awareness at all times. NO public drinking - do that shit at home.

Couple weeks ago I was lassoed into going to a restaurant with a group and I inadvertently did NOT lead the way and we were thus seated in a way that I wouldn't have preferred and was nervous as a long tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs the whole time. My back was to the entrance door (couldn't see it without turning 180 degrees), and not close to an outside window.

Typically in a restaurant I will sit as far away from the entrance as possible but still facing it, in a booth with a window. I usually have my Bobcat in my pocket but will only use it to protect me and mine. Instead, I'll throw a chair through the window and grab my people, after I am outside, and yank them through the opening. In order to save others I first have to save me.

    2. Are restaurant windows regular glass? Safety? Plastic? I'm just saying, can you break through?

      Delete
    3. Most windows are designed to be broken through except in high security areas. It might take a couple of swings with a chair but thanks to fire code that is the way it is in most buildings.

    4. Okay, so you've researched it. I haven't, which is why I asked. Thanks.

    5. I've designed restaurants and with only 1 exception all were tempered glass. Make sure the chair has some ass, made out of heavy metal (cheap wood will bounce off and hit you) and throw it like your life depended on it. The glass will turn to snow. Careful, the edges can still cut you. But cuts heal better than bullet holes.

The 1 exception was the only Waffle House in the country that doesn't look like the other 26,000, and it's located on Ft Myers Beach, FL. It looks like an old Florida "cracker" style building, white lap siding, silver tin roof, gingerbread, etc. The building was built below the flood plane and thus all exterior openings had to be completely waterproof to a height of 10' above finished grade. Therefore all of the fixed glass windows were supplied by the company that did the underwater windows on the Sea World aquariums. They can withstand a hurricane wind velocity of 300+ miles per hour. In that building the shooter will undoubtedly die because the inhabitants will have no choice as they aren't escaping through the windows. People are the most vicious of animal when they have no way out.

    6. Recent events in Paris (the massive long lasting theater slaughter) indicates you might be wrong about people being the most vicious animal when cornered- some rumors put torture and maiming as some of the pursuits of the terrorists while they waited for hours for their shoot-out with the police.

    1. Believe me, I appreciate it. Last year, my Lulu income was $5. For the year. They might be a bit high, I only make 25 cents on each download ( the first buck is a fee then their cut drops to 25% ), but they also allow you to offer the free books so in the end the reader gets a better deal than with Kindle.

  6. Something to Remember:
The Job of a Sheepdog is NOT to protect the Sheep. It is to herd the sheep until the Shepherd decides to slaughter them. The Sheepdog is paid in mutton. That is the real reason that Sheepdogs fight off the wolf. The wolf is only endangering the Sheepdogs "investment" in the sheep.
With this in mind, i think it is perfectly honest for Second Responders to call themselves "Sheepdogs".

    1. Sometimes a goat will be with the flock as well and as such things will do, the goats will act to fight threats to the flock as well- but this is also out of self interest as the threat to the flock is a likely threat to the goat and the threat to the flock is more likely to go after the more independent and far roaming goat - perhaps even the shepherd.

    2. Aren't domesticasted ruminant animals similar in behaviors? You could get most of them flocking in a mix and match herd.
