It is a great product, but not cheap at near $1 a pound. I'm in a high cost area and my wheat is 20cents a pound at the feed store. Even buying expensive plastic buckets you still only pay half cost doing it yourself ( I don't worry about chaff and other grains in the feed bag. They grind up just fine ). Congrats on getting the Hell out of the HellHole. I was born and raised there, finally escaped and will never go back for any reason. Not because of the criminals, but if I try to defend myself against them. Don't hesitate to ask any questions. Was starting to get a bad feeling that circus won't end well, so I sold my house and business and returned home. There are a bunch of feed stores around here, and I am intrigued by the Augason Farms offerings at Wal-Mart. Any further recommendations along those lines are appreciated. Buy "untreated" ( no vet meds ) whole kernal ( not cracked or split ) winter wheat. Red winter is best, white winter is fine just lower protein. Don't get spring wheat. It doesn't store as well. If you are storing a little, five gallon buckets ( triangle 2 symbol on bottom ). A lot, one of those pallet totes ( IBC? ), food grade ONLY. If you have a cola bottler, they used to sell 30 gallon syrup plastic barrels. Clean out good with hot water ( at the car wash? ). If you don't have a feed and grain store nearby, you'll have to buy through Wal-Mart ( see my link below each article ). Happy to answer any further details. When I went to visit the ghost town of Bodie (Very similar to Elko in appearance) I loved it. My only issue is the close proximity to Kalifornia, as well as Hwy-80. On the positive side, it’s in the eastern half of Nevada, and my land is 5 miles from the highway over rough roads. I’ll give it a chance. Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2686829448547770092.post-75254552777765904622018-09-27T10:13:35.576-07:002018-09-27T10:13:35.576-07:00I think this just shows the issue of discarding or...I think this just shows the issue of discarding or accepting entire states, yet also the issue believing one area in a state is acceptable. I'm hidden, mostly, up here but Vegas politics can screw me. Yet, every single state has pockets of goodness. Montana politics suck, true, but so does everyone else. Kansas is still affected today by Civil War politics. I guess it just depends on where you sleep soundest at night, regardless of the negatives. If Elko doesn't warm your heart, it simply isn't the best place regardless of what the checklist suggests. If a state just doesn't smell right, discard immediately ( mine was Louisiana ). If a place has a thousand problems but feels like home, you work around them. Hell, I never thought Nevada would feel so right, and now I won't leave ( and it isn't because I have land here. I can get cheap enough lots elsewhere ). I’m pretty sure the nice land in western Montana has gone up considerably, and I have heard that some celebrities (David Letterman for example) have bought summer resorts there. I suppose that you could include eastern Wyoming as well, but I refuse to consider that state on principle alone (nicknamed the equality state, because apparently way back in the 19th century, a bunch of feminist males thought it was a grand idea to empower women; this being back in the days when men were supposed to have more common sense than today).

Yes, you bring up a good point about Elko. You have the nearby mountains to retreat to if the golden horde ever gets too close. Just grab a backpack and wait em out until they all die off.

You have the Black Hills, the Badlands, etc. I think that place where Wild Bill was, Deadwood SD, was rather hilly and wooded. But generally you’re right. There’s not as many hiding places in these states. The advantage is that there is a lot less people. Low Cali immigration, perhaps far less growth than the west part, akin to its neighbors? But, of course, prairie winters. Just saying, a bit more research, if the state itself offers tax advantages. I don't know, I kind of like the advantage Elko offers of very close bug out wilderness. Do the Dakota's have that? I'm not sure. I imagine all prairie, but perhaps the Black Hills? Or is that indig controlled? Junk land...Timber and a crick is Yuppie Scum land. Junk land is $500-$3k land. Something you can pay off with the upcoming tax return. Yes, everyone's criteria is different, but that is my definition-land the lower class can afford. With a near new food grade plastic pallet tote under $100 in some cases, rain catchment is a viable alternative to a water source on your land. I'd still want a local source, walking distance, as a back up, but adding a creek of your own jacks up the price to nose bleed levels. Okay, you can't farm on junk land. So what? Industrial grain is so cheap that isn't an issue either. I've been looking for "raw" or "unimproved" land for years and in the wooded area of eastern wa, I get about 4, 4.5k/ acre. N Idaho is more expensive to my surprise. I can buy w/ cash now but when I was looking to finance I needed 50% down even with spectacular credit. Maybe my criteria is too strict? But to me timber and a creek (or in an area of heavier rainfall) are pretty basic.Hootenannynoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2686829448547770092.post-45839306481996813132018-09-27T07:47:48.488-07:002018-09-27T07:47:48.488-07:00I posted on this just recently in the comments Jim...I posted on this just recently in the comments Jim. My understanding was that only 4 states are not growing in illegal immigration, those states being: Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, and The Dakota’s. Also be aware that there is an active agenda by the left to import minorities into predominately white areas, via subsidized housing. North Dakota actually lost population (A good thing to me) and South Dakota only grew ½ of a percent (I believe that this was for 2017). Personally, I’d avoid Idaho, or any state with a large influx of Kalifornians, for they will soon be ruined. Even the western parts of Wyoming and Montana are attracting these folks on some level. I got something in my email from the NRA just recently about the governor of Montana pushing for some gun control legislation, so apparently, enough Kalifornians have moved into that state.

For me personally, this limits me to only about 3 states. The Dakota’s, and possibly Nebraska. I’d consider western Kansas, as it’s quite rural, but being so close to the now blue state of Colorado worries me. I still have my Elko land, but if I were to go elsewhere, it would likely be one of the above.

None of this protects you from the increasingly encroaching federal government however. You must have all of your guns, ammo, reloading equipment (Or anything else that the government doesn’t want you to have) in place now. The idea is to go to one of the above states and drop off the grid. Dramatically reduce your internet presence, and thus your digital footprint (public wifi is probably best). Get a cell phone with a removable battery. Revert to old style communications, such as Ham radio. As time goes on, I find the internet to be less useful, and completely controlled by the left. I mostly use it as a dictionary, and now visit only a handful of sites on a regular basis.

Surprisingly, one of the tips in the link below, is to avoid driving a car (I thought you’d like that :D ).

https://www.wikihow.com/Stay-off-the-Government%27s-GridAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2686829448547770092.post-27335035456000931232018-09-27T07:06:22.679-07:002018-09-27T07:06:22.679-07:00The Redoubt has its issues. Montana is one of the nations least effected states by that measure. OR and WA are basket cases politically and culturally and unless the eastern counties get more independent you are getting desert land with coastal taxes and regulations. The only thing I can recommend is finding out who is losing population steadily, but that limits you to three or four states nationally. You can easily research localities at www.city-data.com as they list ethnicity percentages. Not just cities but also counties. You can figure out population densities and if they are too Other Color. First you must pick your state, then find the safest local spot. So everyone is going to be different. I think Idaho is bad because of less jobs and high land prices, but others might not think so. Sure, they are being poisoned by Cali, but so is Nevada. They primarily settle in Vegas but Vegas controls the politics here.
