Similar to soda pops and tea, coffee flushes water from the body.

Ten-ounces of coffee requires at least sixteen-ounces of water to replace the water lost. Four sixteen-ounce grande soy latte caffeinated beverages before lunch puts you a half-gallon low on water. Sixty ounces of water daily barely maintains a zero balance. You're sliding backward, your first clue is waking in an ambulance.

Starbucks lies to you. Farmers Brothers lies to you. Sanka. Lipton. Juan Valdez and his burro, up before dawn. The hippies at Celestial Seaonings and Happy Yogi. Profits before livestock. You should be used to it by now... normalcy bias.

That is just the start. A constant adrenaline dump results in adrenal exhaustion. And the adrenal glands sit atop the... anybody, anybody... kidneys. Would dialysis cut into your fun and games? You probably feel lousy after leaving the clinic, so a nice cuppa Joe will 'perk you right up'? Negative on that.

A constant state of dehydration is probably a bad idea. What lubricates the joints? What softens the bowel contents so it can pass without blowing your anus into hemorrhoids-ville? What helps maintain blood and lymph fluidity? How does each body cell receive nourishment and eliminate toxins?

The much-touted Rule Of Three, three days without water? Misleading. Parenting or patrolling or commanding a keyboard, how quickly does performance degrade without adequate water replacement?

Water, not corn-syrup artificial flavor/color Gatorade™®©. Fruit juice is concentrated sugars, so the body requires more water to dilute it... right before the pancreas goes on strike and diabetes sets in. Yes, Jamba Juice and Ocean Spray and Sunny Delight lie to you.

Fussing-about in hot humid climes as part of an aircrew, I repeatedly experienced the degradation of abilities due to dehydration. I could maintain an acceptable twenty-foot deviation from my assigned altitude, or I could struggle to try to keep it within a few hundred feet. And the other crews in my flight would == hopefully == notice before we get entangled.

As a Physical Therapist, I look for fine lines under the eyes, a slouching gait, thick-tongue speech.

"But I hate the taste of water!" So, add a tiny pinch of Keltic sea salt or Himalayan pink salt to a quart. This is rumored to help maintain electrolyte balance, a two-for-one win. Sugared water creates additional problems.

Lecture over. Like I cared about you in the first place. Take Andrew Jackson for instance:

"On this day in 1835, Andrew Jackson becomes the first American president to experience an assassination attempt.
Richard Lawrence, an unemployed house painter, approached Jackson as he left a congressional funeral held in the House chamber of the Capitol building and shot at him, but his gun misfired. A furious 67-year-old Jackson confronted his attacker, clubbing Lawrence several times with his walking cane. During the scuffle, Lawrence managed to pull out a second loaded pistol and pulled the trigger, but it also misfired. Jackson’s aides then wrestled Lawrence away from the president, leaving Jackson unharmed but angry and, as it turned out, paranoid."

https://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/andrew-jackson-narrowly-escapes-assassination

Obviously, you do not want to count on your would be assassin having a prone to mis-firing, 19th century single shot pistol :D And you should for sure be carrying a gun. But also having a replenish-able weapon such as a cane sword for instance, or similar (not legal here in commiefornia) would be nice to put some distance between you and your adversary, if one were to run short on ammunition. I vaguely recall tying that image to the issues of 'variable' Quality Control in Recreation Vehicle factories, or something like that. In my defense, I proudly point to the fact, this time, I commonsense compromised by capitalizing the word 'mohammed' (a first for me).

To avoid the dreaded 'third strike', I guess my only choice is to... nah. Position self physically or geographically so as to not be linked to or require any dependant contacts with the outside world. A rare foray to town for trade or supplies should be it. Those excess contacts are exposures to sources of risks. Those townie, commercial transaction, neighbor, church social contacts are all included in your threat matrix planning. People are contaminated with envy and jealousy with evil hearts tickled by the devil. If a Minion appears to have affluence or assets with a home, property, drives yuppie vehicles, shops like a valley girl at a mall, they will be seen as easy meat to the hyennas post collapse. Pace self at labor in older age and use common health sense to remain spry and productive even as the body gets old. This will allow Minions to still be a force to reckon with deep (years) into a collapse. The most dangerous is an old geezer at twighlight of life with little to lose if pushed back or poked with. Keep up the good work Jim, these topics must be covered and digested before the collapse and apocalypse games arrives at our doorstep. Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
