BUYING ANOTHER GUN
Why do we continue to
be surprised? As long as I've been doing this, we always discuss
what is wrong with the world. We imply or explicitly state how much
better things could be done to avoid the problem. This is human
nature. Everyone not only does it ( pattern recognition ), they
can't help it. Even when we understand events unfold according to
Collapse Script, we still debate away at solving all of the worlds
ills. Hell, I probably did this exact thing days or at most a week
ago. It is like asking guys to stop farting around open flames.
We're going to outgas anyway.
*
How long ago did I say
that globalism is dying, that China won't restart trade, regardless
of how badly we need the items? The Oil Age and the Industrial Age
were dying long ago. Now we are seeing the actual complete halt and
disintegration ( yet still whine and moan how it doesn't have to be
this way ). Look at almost any random picture of a group of LEO's
making parks or beaches safe from Soccer Moms. Their masks aren't
uniform. Some are more makeshift than others. Does no one else see
a red flag here?
*
There is a reason of
uniformity in the appearance of authority figures. There is a reason
the military spends more time in appearance than training. There is
a reason for roll call for the cops going on duty, and it isn't JUST
for a sitrep. Uniforms speak of authority, as the wearers have the
full financial backing of those in charge. Those in charge with the
backing of the people ( willing or not ). It is an implicit
authority to exercise the monopoly on force. Any NON-uniformity
ruins the effect. It is physiologically far less effective to the
proletariat. Because only ANTI-government forces wear nonuniform
clothing.
*
The police, the thin
blue line against anarchy and financial doom, are NOT providing a
UNIFORMED response against the danger. You don't understand it
consciously, but you react negatively to this. Anyone who has served
in the military experienced many, many times the form over function
aspect. Looking good was better than staying alive, in many cases.
Literally. There are also aspects of unit solidarity and the mental
fortitude that provided, so it helps both participants and observers.
*
Just recall the
illogical responses to something as minor as the color of a beret. A
beret is one of the worse pieces of headgear ever designed, in
functionality. But that was not its true purpose. Just as a guy
wearing a skirt will scare the crap out of you if the proper plaid
pattern is displayed, and not scared in a rapey kind of way, clothes
DO make the man. Or the woman-a sun bonnet or a baseball cap
identify two very different tribes. But the tribal aspect is
secondary to the tribes reputation-the “flag” is just an instant
communicator. A police uniform is an instant message and instills
instant reactions. You DON'T mess with that uniform.
*
Care to guess on WHY
females in military uniform get a certain response? Women are fat.
That is a good thing. Most times a fetus cannot be brought to term
if the mother has less than 20% body fat. The only time fat is bad
on a gal is when it is not proportionate. Than she goes from sending
a fertility message ( sexy ) to a illness message ( don't risk your
life for her, she is too unhealthy to mate. Yes, ugly women don't
receive chivalrous behavior-and I mean body ugly, not face ugly-a gal
has the properly placed curves, her face doesn't much matter as far
as mating. Just the hierarchy of WHO mates with her ).
*
BUT! Fat in a military
uniform goes against the visual message, to an extent. Fat, in this
case, means unfit. This is a rather non-warrior like look. The
female can be yummy, but yummy is not what you want your combatants
to look like. Yes, I know, a bit cryptic. My point is that your
first automatic reaction is based on instinct rather than rational
thought based on the nuances of the issue. You don't think, women's
lib ( good or bad ) or physical fitness or combat readiness, but
rather your subconscious says, she isn't UNIFORM. She doesn't
represent a fighter. Even male clerks are supposed to be trim and
fit, to appear UNIFORM.
*
We all know the stated
arguments, such as a male clerk needs to be instantly ready-and
fit-to grab a gun and go fighting if the base is overrun. But what
is really happening is upkeep of uniform standards. Fat guys sends a
message to the enemy, and it AIN'T fear. A gal, with a properly fat
ass, kills that uniform look. Even baggy uniforms rather than
tighter fatigues, send the FAT message. In the name of equality, we
decrease military effectiveness, even if women are all quartered
domestically. For cops, this is far, far worse. Because 90% of the
military are support troops, but 100% of LEO's on the street are
combat troops.
*
That is just our
completely dysfunctional society at large. Again, just examples of
the physiological aspects of appearance. At least with a female cop,
most of the time they appear in groups and her physical inadequacies
are masked ( of course, the dumb ass bitches actually think they are
respected and martially superior ). Anyway, long ass story short,
back to the cops in non uniform masks. And I'm not talking hick town
casual in a location everyone knows the cops and he went to high
school with all of them, or Mayberry on a really shoestring budget.
I'm talking Wrong Coast urban metropolis cops. It might just be me,
and me alone, but I see this as proof like no other that the modern
system we have operated under all our lives is failing. Right now.
And no “do-overs”. If you cannot keep the soldiers supplied in
uniforms, you are BELOW Turd Word Banana Republic status. There,
bloated belly kids have flies in their eyeballs, half the adults have
AIDS, your only import is AK-47's, but by gum all your soldiers are
smartly uniformed.
*
I started out wanting
to talk about our economy failing and all individual purchases ( or,
NOT purchasing and just saving money ) are all flawed. If the
trading systems are failing, consuming is on its last leg. Our old
response to danger by shopping is flawed. I'll start again there
tomorrow. I got a bit sidetracked. I just thought it was a valuable
data point.

Men and women police groups (matching masks aside)
ReplyDeletepictured are sometimes obese, sometimes just a floppy
belly, but overweight overall. Yuk. That inspires
disgust, not respect, and the haughty (respect me!!)
attitude inspires fear. Fear of trigger happy goon-fish.
"goon fish" LOL Okay, that's a new one on me.
DeleteRight. I too have for a long time made such observations of the leo and .gov organizational representations of their authority and supposed expertise, as projected to the larger public/society. My Vegas p.d. has a few true 9% percenter enforcers that are squared away, akin to a special forces group photo that looks like a wholesome mormon football team. (Credit when/where duly earned) The >vast rest< are like every other dep't. and are mere badge numbers on a roster at roll call, only good for placating crowds and hanging the police line tape well after the crime incidents occured. They face inwards oblivious at incidents like a bukake circle jerk all the while looking like sacks of shit in both appearance and demeanor. Any critique of their performance is beyond reproach by any one outside their enclave of thin blue line apparatus and public boosters cadres. Americans will accept an andy griffin type of leo sheriff, casual and not in their ass over things. The other spectrum that is wholely unacceptable is an officer tackleberry that is a dork in appearance and proves that visual assumption by being an even worse tool when gung ho enforcing on behalf of a worse hot mess .gov authority. These recent demonstrations as such, has just reinforced most 'Mericans lizard brain programming that they might as well buy another gun, just because.
ReplyDeleteStay frosty, and avoid any/all authorities, as well as the crowds.
Officer Tackleberry. Sweet :)
DeleteStay Frosty dude wrote that unfit cops are " ... only good for placating crowds and hanging the police line tape well after the crime incidents occured..."
DeleteReminded me of an incident many years ago when I had a part-time gig as a Pinkerton security guard, and was assigned to watch a local manufacturing business that was in the midst of a labor dispute with the Teamsters.
I wanted to park my car in an inner lot, rather than an outer lot, where it would be more vulnerable to vandals. There was a local cop onsite, and I was hoping he would direct the picketers to let my car past the line, but he would not. He was a younger cop, and I could clearly see in his eyes he was afraid of pissing off the thugs. So I parked in the outer lot, and got the usual jeers and insults as I walked to the building.
Once insite, I met my field supervisor, who told me to pay extra attention to the stacks of wood pallets out back. He gave a short, but effective speech, which I remember vividly, even though this was some 25 years ago (I was a fairly young dude at the time). My supervisor looked me dead in the eye and said, "Wood burns. If you think those guys would never set those pallets ablaze, you are sadly mistaken."
Hit the send button too soon. I forgot to add, no one torched the pallets, and my POS car was unharmed. All I experienced on that watch was some verbal abuse.
DeleteYeah, good luck finding a Union today, besides the cops. Which of course they need, because dingus head politicians. But it holds some irony
Delete"A beret is one of the worse pieces of headgear ever designed, in functionality." Spot on.
ReplyDeleteFirst, Special Forces got the green berets because, well, British commandos wore them and they looked cool. Our guys wanted to look special in order to claim a superior status above that of ordinary soldiers.
Then the airborne troops were allowed to wear burgundy berets in order to claim superior status to ordinary soldiers, and the Army went along with it.
Other soldiers were miffed.
So, rather than get rid of berets, the Army gave black berets to the other soldiers. Now, everyone was wearing berets, so berets weren't special. (If a business says "We treat all of our customers as if they are our most important customer," then none of them is.) My brother told me that his son, a 2nd Lt., told him that when the Army announced that it was getting rid of black berets, but that there would be a “wear out” period when soldiers could continue to wear the beret, they filled garbage cans with them at Fort Lewis.
Boonie hats are the most functional because they protect eyes, ears, and, to some extent, necks from the sun. Because of their floppy state, however, they don’t look uniform from one soldier to the next. Of course, that is an advantage in some tactical situation, but the Army would never stand for such lack of uniformity in a garrison situation.
The Army is always looking for a way to look more appealing to the public. Unit patches are an example. The Army keeps changing its uniforms because it can’t seem to settle on one that it likes—and because Congress keeps allocating money for it, not only for dress uniforms, but for BDU patterns, the ACU being a typical Army boondoggle. The Army is like a fickle woman who keeps putting on dresses in front of a mirror, trying to figure out which one is the best one to wear to the party.
The Marines have never made these mistakes. One blue dress uniform (the best American military uniform, period) for decades. One green dress uniform for decades. One 8-point cap for decades. Excellent choices in camouflage uniforms for decades. And no unit patches, it being sufficient to tell the world that you are a United States Marine, and nothing more being necessary.
I say all of this as a man who spent four years in the Marine Corps and sixteen years in the Army Guard and Army Reserve.
The Army is all that is bad about a military service. They consul themselves that they aren't the Air Force. Glad I served. Gladder I left.
DeleteBack in the 80s, I saw a cable channel program about the Marine Corps' "Devil Dog Program" at Camp Pendleton. I got the impression that this program was for high school wannabes, but that it might be intended to help parents of teenagers who needed a little "discipline" in their lives to straighten the kids out.
DeleteIn one scene, a DI is leaning down into the face of a young, pimple-faced kid with scraggly hair down his neck. The DI was ripping him a new one, and then asked, "Was your father ever in the military, recruit?" The kid responds, "Sir, yes, sir. He was in the Air Force, sir!"
The DI seemed to blow a gasket, and then screamed, "I asked you if he was he ever in the MILITARY!"
Ha! Classic.
DeleteThe military at least from aspects of being a volunteer force of a pretty random cross section of society still holds some respectability amongst the populace. Horrendous burns and blown off limbs from action has a mollifying effect on folks perceptions.
ReplyDeleteThe L.E.O. have been turned by their .gov paymasters from a service orientated focus on behalf of the society, to a regimented dogmatic pavlov's dog approach of just simply enforcing the catalog of laws and any verbal edicts uttered from a .gov figure.
The L.E.O. chose their sides when they
go ahead (automaton - or told by superiors when using chain of command) and arrest paddleboarders out on the water or mothers with kids in a public park, because of .gov edicts, without frigging thinking for themselves of rationality and blowback from "their actions". They don their tribe uniforms and accoutrements (walking tactical tommy / tina jingling and squeeking from all the queer gear) and then act counter to the society tribe's norms and expectations, like some kind of a "Karen" all mommy nanny statists on your deplorable ass. The beard boys and 3 percenters will probably act just the same and look just as ridiculous in some fantasy redoubt republic organizations of their wet dreams.
When russia took back their crimea and were in smart green uniforms, they were referred to as "the polite gentlemen" by locals, it is also because they acted wholly in the interests of their citizenry (russian speakers-culture) and conducted the moving day operations accordingly. Thus winning the biggest prize, hearts and minds of citizenry of that new territory.
Uniforms >are< the flags of tribe, the deportment and conduct of those wearing them are as imperative as the fabric selected. Stay starched, creased, and frosty.
To be fair, the Russkies probably had to make up for Berlin, Budapest, Afghanistan, etc. Of course, that makes your point also
DeleteHa. I joined the marines way back during reganomics era. I have a face only good for radio, and would be challenged to even get laid in a women's pennitentiary after lights out, that kinda of a deplorable. However, break out the full dress blues uniform and circulate amongst females in estrus, home run every time. Of course the dames knew instinctively of the physical prowess, fitness, and total 'chad' character of the chaps sporting them were not just one trick ponies, either. :)!
ReplyDeleteWhat happened to, “Buying Another Gun?” Bait and switch??
ReplyDeleteI tease you until second half of part three. You haven't noticed I love obscene amounts of background information?
DeleteThe Boonie cover has always worked well for me the past forty eight years since I first wore one. Why change a good thing ? Always hated the class As, and Khakis were pure fugging torture ...
ReplyDeleteI have the Oz boonie hat that buttons on both sides. Unsnap for outdoor work, snap while riding the bike to keep the shade over my eyes. Best darn summer hat ever.
DeleteI don't care how fit she is, every woman in a cop uniform looks like she has an ass like a dump truck. And I don't care if they have the coolest new gear, women in military uniforms don't look intimidating. They kind of look silly, especially if they are trying hard to look like badasses. I read story about a female solider that went missing last week, she was 5'2" and 125 lbs. Wow, scary!
ReplyDeleteOn the other hand, watch an old film of German troops on parade in the Third Reich. They just looked dangerous and the parades sent a message: you really didn't want to mess with the Wehrmacht.
One of these days we are going to get into a serious conflict and our diversity checkbox military is going to get clobbered. We might not lose thanks to superior tech, but on the ground it is going to get ugly.
Superior tech didn't win us Vietnam. Ain't looking too good for Afghanistan, either. As for girls trying to look bad ass, Netflix just got "Battle Los Angeles". I love that friggin movie, the aliens being fought by Jarheads. The AF Intel gal was of course super soldier, but I forgive them as the movie was better than the usual crap they put out. But it is also funny looking at her waddling, helmet always looking like a gang banger sideways baseball cap.
DeleteSuperior tech didn't win us (insert every war the U.S. lost). Which is utter bullshit. If we wanted to win we could.
DeleteJust remember Fat Man and Little Boy when you ramble on about things you don't know about.
Our government makes more money by not winning.
We chose to lose every war since 1945? And I'm the one who rambles on about things he doesn't understand? You're embarrassing yourself. The gov doesn't need to explode ordinance to keep the military spending balls to the wall-they can just "update" it. Not that they do that ( nuclear arsenal ), because we've lost even that technology edge you think we still have. Love your country, but don't be a delusional jingoist.
DeleteBack during Korea we could of nuked the North and won. In Vietnam a couple of nuclear bombs would have helped, but the U.S. did not want to destroy the CIA drug pipe line. In Afghanistan we were guarding the poppy fields not fighting a war.
DeleteThere is also that little thing called your enemies allies also have nuclear weapons. Like, probably still in Cuba. A possibility, as we never tried invading again. And that was just to save their own ass-how many minutes is ICBM time Cuba to Washington DC? I hear you about Afghanistan, and agree. But we essentially surrendered in Iraq, and every conflict prior. I think Vietnam was a rehash economically of WWII, trying to save the economy by going total war. It didn't work, even after butter was added to guns. The drugs were a benefit, not a cause as in Afghanistan.
