energy is more than gas or money 2

ENERGY IS MORE THAN GAS OR MONEY 2
Culture is local adaptation for survival. Culture surrounds a new human, constantly, and is their reality as they grow up. Any other tribe which holds a different culture as their reality is looked upon is disdain and distrust. They are NOT of your reality, meaning, basically, they are full of crap and are unworthy of the same status as you because of it. Look no further than Americans hatred of Muzzies. We see them as barbarians who stone their women. And worship what is clearly a made up God ( like the Mormons, in the eyes of many ).
*
The only thing that is different is that each side has a different culture and hence a different reality, which both think are correct ( the stoning adulteresses thing, I agree with by the way-but then I'm funny that way thinking a vow should mean something ). I'm not defending Muzzies, you understand. I think we should nuke them all from orbit. Even if some Europeans get in the way, it is still better. Of course, since I am in no danger of becoming King Of Earth, they are all safe.
*
Here is my point. You all grew up in an Oil Age culture. To you, this is reality. When anyone questions your reality, such as some punk ass bitch like myself, you reject that because obviously it isn't reality. It doesn't matter what reason or logic I use, we all know people lie and use statistics to lie better. That is what someone from another culture does, lie to you to gain an advantage. Why, this Jim fellow is worse than a Muzzie! You think I'm being silly, but that is exactly your thought process.
*
Because your parents lied to you ( look, Timmy, Santa Claus came! ), and your teacher lied to you ( look, Timmy, how wonderful Lincoln was ) and your boss lies to you ( Timothy, your work is so good I wish I could give you a raise ) and your wife lies to you ( oh, Tim, your huge Johnson pleasures me so ), there is no way in Hell you are going to listen to me try to convince you about Peak Oil. I mean, golly! The government would never lie to me about that! How hard is this, people? Weatherman Rules. The exact opposite of what you are told is closer to the truth.
*
If “everyone” forms a consensus that we are in Gore Warming, you had better plan for a grand solar minimum. If the government tells you the banks are in tip top shape, better buy silver. If everyone knows that the oil will last another fifty years, better plan on it running out in five. Believe nothing of what you hear and very little of what you see. And if you think I'm the only one full of crap, you must believe everyone else and their BS . If you agree with me, you're too easy :)
*
Mass delusion is not a bad thing. It helps with solidarity. It is only bad when it works against you. Was Hitler a bad idea for Germans? Not really. The other powers obviously already had it in for them. They were already economic chattel. They could fight with a chance of winning or they could remain under their yoke. Don't forget that England embargoed them after WWI was over, to force them to sign the treaty. Citizens were dying of starvation and cold. If your mother died that winter, how would you feel about the Limey's twenty years later?
*
And don't even bring up the Jews. We supported Stalin who killed a minimum of twice that number, years before WWII. We used the corpses as justification AFTER the fact, just as Leftists clamber over the cooling corpses of gun massacres to usher in their own Stalinist utopia. Killed Jews were just a means to our own colonial ends ( just as Black slaves had been ). Another mass delusion ( not that Jews were killed or not. I could care less. The delusion is our reason for going to war, as if they weren't selfish ).
*
No one cries over the dead Iranians in WWII, victim of joint American and Russian geopolitics ( and a good enough reason for the Persians to start hating us ). I don't care about dead Iranians, either. I don't care about the upcoming tens to hundreds of millions of dead Americans, either. Few of them are my people. I only bring up the historical dead to make the point. Only YOUR dead count. Which is why I understand how pissed off the Jews or Iranians are. I just don't care myself. But even their anger is a mass delusion. Past dead for future agendas.
*
We treat victims of the culture wars as further justification for continued culture wars, so intent are we on our grasp of that reality. We ALL step on the dead to further ourselves. It isn't just siblings acting poorly to gain the lions share of a parents estate. But back to our reality of living in the Oil Age, hmmm? Culture is fixed. It cannot but be static, as change endangers its stabilizing effects, its survival aspect. We don't understand that, as we no longer have any culture. In its place is a hodgepodge of surviving slivers and ad hoc replacements and work arounds ( thank you, progressive pukes, for Brown Shirting for the bankers ).
*
But you WERE born into a culture, one where gushers of oil were so copious and reliable that your entire surrounding reality was Oil Rich. Like all cultures, it does not lend itself to change ( our cultural wars trying to kill centuries of ancient family culture, prior to Oil Age inputs and changes, are near three generations fought now, and it is still stubbornly clinging on. This points out how resilient culture is. So it is no surprise the Oil aspects of that, so new, show no signs of diminishing ). You cannot change a culture, but you CAN change you. If you wish any chance at surviving the collapse, you have no choice. You have to make the hard choice of individually partially withdrawing from your culture.
*
That is true in many aspects of survivalism. If you are off grid, you have divorced yourself from the norm. Gun owners are already in the minority ( and when the time comes a lot more people beg for guns-as did the idiots in LA during the Rodney King riots-well, screw them! They aren't part of your tribe now and it will be too late later. Think of them as party crashers or Johnny Come Lately's ). A majority might profess faith in a deity, but only a minority truly live the required life. Given all that, how can you argue against more change embracing a contrary lifestyle and viewpoint?

We got a bit off track here. Tomorrow, embedded energy as a better indicator of Peak Oil.

  1. You're on a tear Lord Bison. Had me laughing all morning. Oh, dear me!

Not going to say anything but let the last harsh light of a fading summer illuminate your post Labor Day rant. Bravo, your closing words sum it up.....

    1. Glad you get a chuckle out of my spit speckled tirades, in between me pissing you off with my analysis :) Seems the least I could do.

  2. You are correct on the oil and for those that doubt it, ask them why driverless vehicles are being afforded an insane degree of government consideration and cooperation. Short answer is that the personal freedom of travel will be regulated for a myriad of reasons, not the least of which will be the rationing of petrol fuels. Good times lad...tuna fish and .22 shells the coming currency of the realm!

    1. Fuki tainted fish and Remington manufactured duds. But it beats ditch weeds and a spear made from a Chinese steel kitchen knife.

  3. Bison,
    A request:

Please settle on one definition of 'as'.

    My preferred ('cultural'?) definition:
    "during or while",
as in "Lenny enjoyed the fragrances as Martha masturbated."

Using 'as' as a substitute for 'because' interrupts my flow of understanding of your, admittedly, remarkable words.

Inserting 'as' in place of 'because' skews the meaning of your, astonishingly, informative words.

Or, keep doing it the 'flexible definitions' way of the Eww-educated crowd, and risk joining the gay bunch as they enjoy the rainbow weather-caused changes to the climate ('gay' meaning 'light-hearted', not 'fruits') (and by 'fruits', I mean 'fairys').

    1. Jesus, woman! I can barely translate my own writing after the fact as it is. Stream of consciousness rarely meets Officer Grammar under friendly circumstances. :) No worries. I agree with you that my writing should be flawless in all aspects. Working towards perfection every day, but don't expect certain examples to be corrected automatically. My memory only works with repetition.

  5. Wilson apologists propaganda. Wilson was a giant dingus who I do NOT believe was ever sorry for the creation of the Federal Reserve Bank. All other prog programs just followed. If I wasn't so lazy, I'd dig him up, tear off his head and crap down his throat ( well, approximately, being just bones probably ). Lincoln would be next only because Wilson would be practice in case anything went wrong. Don't want to mess up with Lincoln. FDR deserves to be strapped to a tactical nuke and detonated, but I'm also too lazy to find one of those. And broke. I could just pose his corpse on the floor by his overturned wheelchair, with Wilson humping him and Lincoln following in a train.
