Quagmires like Afghanistan indeed describe well the psychology which is at the root of that probelm, and see how it infects all the aspects of our lives.

Another thing I see is that the notion of an "after" is a lie, as if the collapse would swipe the place clean so we can restart our little civilisation.
It is more realistic to say that once we start eating our preps and spend the whole day of all those menial tasks like mending socks or tending the small space we have around us, we are not ever going out of it.

It's going to be our little world (and our neighbours) for the rest of our lives. By not going all soft and commercial corporate, it is a grounding in real life reality. Minions should pay attention to an 'a typical' news story line about how people all over the country and world get shafted by human event factors or nature event factors, applying that story line to their own preps. In the money economy (no alternatives/can't opt out) top of the list of "oh shucks" events are going to be loss of job-business-income source-reserve savings assets. To be innocently ignorant and blissfully nonchalant about the possibility, while still espousing bravado about being a great worker/earner/money hustler is a fatal mistake. Plan accordingly for the eventuality, it is coming.
