I only looked it up, because someone in the comments section, mentioned something about the superior firepower, and fast reloading, of the semi-pistol, over the revolver. But I seemed to recall that statistically speaking, that very few real gunfights, ever warranted needing spray and pray numbers of rounds being exchanged (i.e. It’s very unlikely that you would even empty your 6 shot revolver).

To be honest Jim, I don’t know what a beard boy is? For example, in statistic 3 we see that there were 259 cases of a civilians defending themselves, and killing their attacker. In that same year there were over 8300 cases of homicide, where a firearm was used. Now, I know some people might think that I’m anti gun because of these stats. Nothing could be further from the truth. Facts are facts. A non criminal is much more likely to be killed by a firearm than they are to kill with one. That does not mean that we should not be ready and well trained to use them, because as we saw in stat 4 they were key in stopping over 67,000 criminal acts.

https://www.tierthreetactical.com/17-most-important-gunfight-stats-backed-by-data-and-real-world-experience/Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2686829448547770092.post-2528573448520554082020-05-02T07:34:30.268-07:002020-05-02T07:34:30.268-07:00One of my biggest regrets in life, was getting rid...One of my biggest regrets in life, was getting rid of my Ruger .357 service six, with a 4” barrel. I sold it to get my Ruger P95DC, 9mm semi auto. I’d rather have 6 shots from a .357, then 10 shots from a 9mm, but I was young, and didn’t think about that at the time. A .357 snubnose, can still reach out to about 50 yards, with decent accuracy Jim. The problem with the hammerless models, is that they don’t allow for the slow, controlled, single action mode, of steadily squeezing the trigger for better accuracy. But up close for defense, not as much of an issue, but at greater ranges it is. Now the Ruger LCR (double action only) is said to have a very smooth double action firing mode. But most of these hammerless guns don’t.

Here’s some stats that I thought you might find interesting Jim.

“The average and median number of shots fired was 2. When more than 2 shots were fired, it generally appeared that the defender’s initial response was to fire until empty. It appears that revolver shooters are more likely to empty their guns than autoloader shooters.” (This took me by surprise, as I’d think that the opposite would be true)

Guns save lives, by Claude Werner (I’m not sure what it is about dude’s named Claude. Early for dinner, I usually fold up the blog early. If I never got to some Internet reading, I'll give the blog one last check later than usual. Now that summer is here, there is more outdoors chores and my schedule gets all kinds of messed up. I don't mind trying for 6:30-I'm probably more mentally alert than at 5 AM ( I miss exercising in the dark, before I ever turned on the computer. Blood flow works better than multiples of coffee ), so prefer to take care of them in the evening rather than morning. No guarantees, but I will strive to adjust. If some days I'm just mentally wiped, you'll know why it was an early close. I try to accommodate. As I've said before, most article ideas come from minion comments. It is in my best interest to cultivate them. Support hand best counter wraps along and over shooting grip of strong hand on gun grip. Some folks lock the support hand wrist with a bit of push forward for recoil absorbtion say as in matches or drills. I just balance out equal torque or grip of hands for nuetral controlling under firing sequences. Just watch john wicke, good to go. :) Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2686829448547770092.post-84941414203280119332020-05-01T17:21:04.941-07:002020-05-01T17:21:04.941-07:00I had one of the first generation Taurus PT111'...I had one of the first generation Taurus PT111's when I didn't have the money for a Glock. It ran fine, but seemed like cheap junk when I disassembled/assembled it for cleaning. I ended up selling it after I saved up enough for the Glock. The new owner ended up complaining that it was causing him all kinds of problems, so I guess it wore out quickly. I haven't done any research on the Gen 2's, but I do NOT like that manual safety. You're just asking for problems when you're all flustered and trying to get it into action in an emergency. NO MANUAL SAFETIES FOR PISTOLS!

Regarding the first comment suggesting a snub-nosed .357. I have two, one that weighs 25 ounces empty, the other that weighs 18 ounces. I used to carry the 25 ounce one on my ankle for years. The weight never bothered me until I got older and the inbalance did start bothering me. I could shoot full-power .357 and get hits at 50 yards. The 18 ounce one has too much recoil to shoot anything above .38 Special +P. On the other hand, I can get semi-reliable hits with it out to 100 yards. I used to CCW the 18 ounce one in my pocket, but later changed out to something else.

If money is tight, I vote for a used Glock 9mm, 26, 19, or 17.

James, it seems like you adjusted your personal schedule to do your last comment updates at 5:30 instead of 6:30? My vote is to return to the 6:30 time so I could more reliably add a comment in time.
