Subtract about ten percent. Folks crowded in, then left for their regular crapholes. As usual, per every economic downturn elsewhere. Folks actually think jobs are going begging up here. Idiots. They get unemployment and high cost of living. We should more of that, in stages. And yeah, I know the cards need to turn up exactly right. It was a great place to be for the 2008 meltdown. I'm hoping my luck holds. Hope is a terrible tactic, I know. But to a degree we must all engage in it. You have to hope the property around you isn't bought up and sold to yuppie scum fleeing the city. I have to hope the population falls drastically before the final crash. Have that 2-7 ounces for each year taxes and in theory, long run, you'll be okay in a mild collapse. Hard collapse, you'll be fighting county troops, not paying them taxes. Remember, silver was $50 back when that bought more, and prior to peak production. $100 should be a slam dunk. I think it will go to gold prices, but just the $100 should be a jelly filled donut guarantee. Of course, cash for the immediate next few years, waiting for JP Morgan's grip on the silver derivatives to slip. It would get me debt free and build my forever house. At 1000ish square feet my taxes would be about $700 or less but still doable. The gains in solar heating and security would be worth it. I paid a bit more up front to get 5 instead of the 2-3 acre properties I found. It was a bit like spending more on a rifle that uses less expensive ammo. Think of the total long term price, not the foot in the door price. The main limitation is any structure needs to be less than 200 square feet to keep the status of ag land. I can work around that.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2686829448547770092.post-25760978208304776912020-02-25T11:39:14.162-08:002020-02-25T11:39:14.162-08:00Always liked Southerners. I eat them when I crave them ( although lately I'm forcing myself, in anticipation of Beer Bug ). During the last Polar Vortex, when the idiot brigade simple needed full donation pick-up during minus 15 ( and that was after I biked to work in the slop ), I got a pretty wicked fever ( flu? Worse? ). I let it go too long before I took aspirin. Afterwards, including a few days with eating few solids ( mostly just drinking OJ ), my body was insisting on salad. Nothing had ever sounded better in my life. Ate that bunny crap for near a week, a huge trough of weed-like plants for diner. Then, suddenly, I couldn't stand the sight of it. I normally craved a single salad a month. I'm not telling this tale to get diet advice :) I'm saying my body told me what to eat to restore equilibrium. So, yes, I agree with the gut/intestine immune system and the advisability of drug avoidance ( although, perhaps not as long as I did. I also don't hesitate too long to take aspirin anymore. I can only hope I didn't do any permanent damage )
. I got off the bus, hoping to visit an Army buddy, and the lizard brain went off. Think, visiting a Baltimore ghetto alley at night. It was day, and there were a couple of old farts sitting and chewing the fat. No danger, per se, but the hair on the back of my neck still stood up. The longer I sat there, the worse it got, until I returned to Greyhound and bought a ticket to Wyoming ( no reason other than I always wanted to see it. It met no expectations ) leaving that day. And the second one chimed in “Ain’t that the truth” (Ahh, Deliverance. The cinematic gift that keeps on giving :D )

Gonna go out on a limb here, and speculate that most junk land being sold today will not be in close proximity water. Take a cue from the hobo from rancho costa nada, and have that years supply of water set aside. If you wish to stay at your junk land long term, then you will need to invest in a cistern. You could get lucky and find junk land in close proximity to water, but I’d assume the worst case scenario. And yes, I get that it’s a totally different game for those of you that are east of the Mississippi, but you have a different problem to contend with (Plenty of water and woods, but also plenty of population density).Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
