china war

CHINA WAR
Okay, Pastor Joe got me started here. He believes the very good possibility of nuclear war exists. Me, not so much. I don't say, impossible, but rather I think very improbable. But not to fear, no matter who is right, nuclear fallout is in your future anyway. Why? Why, my silly minions, have you noticed how well the economy was shut down? Yeah, multiply that dumb assery by ten, for all the nuclear power plants and waste depositories. Fuki, times a few hundred. No problem, barely an inconvenience. The shooting will kill you before the cancer.
*
He brought up the book “Nuclear War Survival Skills”, which of course is a classic. I own a paper version but am unsure of its location, so I figured I'd just download the PDF. No, I'm not going to build a cheap fallout shelter, nor a homemade radiation detector, but I'm thinking at the very least, I might get some frugal junk land shelter ideas. So you cannot go wrong either way getting the free version and reading it. I went to
NuclearWarSurvivalSkills.com
The web site is hosted by the author of Sunshine To Dollars, a book I recommend all the time ( that PDF is also free, just do a search for it ).
*
The site is obviously paid for by Amazon commissions, as he has a butt ton of emergency gear links. One section shows what NOT to buy, and one of those are those paperback size solar A's/C/D battery chargers. He claims they can take forever, even with just a AAA battery. I think that might be exaggerated, but I must keep in mind that just because I made a choice, it isn't always correct. I have three or four of those units ( one a minion gift, bless him ). Now he planted a seed of doubt. What if it does take days to charge a set of A's?
*
Most reviews I see of that type of charger say it takes days to recharge a D battery, so I phased out my D appliances ( except a generic MagLite, but that was pre-LED standards, so who knows if I'll be using it long. I have a bare minimum of rechargeable D's to go with it. I have a few ancient “when LED's were Shiite” lanterns good for little more than barter. All that stuff is ancient, more failed investments than money well spent. But, who knows, no trade with China long enough, it might be useful again ) and now ONLY use A's.
*
So, yet another insurance purchase, just because “in case”. I bought a AA/AAA recharger that has a USB port. Why a USB instead of a wall AC plug? One, it was cheaper, $10 instead of $13-$15. And two, I can plug into my inverter used on the solar panel, and without turning on the unit I get live USB plug power. This prolongs the life of my inverter, should I need to use regular solar panels to charge my A's. If the guy is right and the small book size solar chargers take way too long to work. The reviews say less than a day for A's, but just to be sure, it is a cheap enough purchase.
*
Besides, I needed something to buy along with a kitchen knife, to get free shipping. NOL wanted a Rada brand butcher knife, for here in the house. She bought some for work, but wanted another for here. NOL is much richer than I, and she almost never asks for anything. She is content with silver jewelry for holidays. But when she tells me she wants something, I listen, as it almost never happens. I think she just needs the odd validation from me, and I'm happy to comply. All her ex-husbands just used her, financially or for scut work, so I try to work against that standard. I really love the old crone.
*
Anyway, remember when far too many folks lit their hair on fire and were running about, panicking over North Korea? Thanks Ross Perot! I told you not to worry, it was only the establishment trying to herd you into the slaughter chutes. Focus on Imagined Enemy here, not on Man Behind The Curtain over there. What makes you think any current scare over war with China is any different ( didn't I also discount the threat from Iran? The media lapdogs aren't even trying anymore-if I can smell BS, and I'm rather obtuse at times, how much effort is being put into these psyops? )?
*
I swear it is true, I even ran across the phrase “phase one of the trade agreement is nearing completion” just the other day! Can you believe that horse patty? They tried to sell that pig in a poke BEFORE Beer Virus, and someone thought it would sell NOW? Do they even have editors ( on the CIA payroll ) any more? I only saw it the once, so I imagine they do, even if they aren't very effective anymore. This is what happens when you pare down payroll too much, unthinking drones regurgitating shopworn propaganda. Why, pray tell, would China want to attack us? We just shot ourselves in the foot, and now have gangrene. China just won the war.
*
Now, I respect Pastor Joe. He is a very religious person ( which does factor into his future predictions, to a degree. So do mine, as my church is Peak Oil-there was even a jab at that in that apocalypse comedy I just recommended ) and yet he comes across VERY low key with that. Believe me, with my mother being Born Again Baptist after remarrying, I REALLY appreciate someone who can leave me the heck alone about their god. He is one of the few I deem worthy of monetary support, among the non-book authors ( Orlov, Kyle at SurvPrep4NormPeeps, and SRS Rocco are the others ).
*
I just don't agree with him over the China threat. China has zero to gain. Now, the US could attack first. But like all bullies, the US only picks on the gimps and fatties, not the other jocks. China has just enough nukes to be in the Players Club you simply do not screw with. We won't attack NorK, with a few nukes. Why would we attack China with a few hundred? And Russia is her buddy. We made sure to alienate Russia, because we didn't have anything else stupid to do that week, like stick a dingus in a wall socket. So now we have most of the non-US nukes aimed at us. We COULD be that stupid, but I don't think it very probable.
*
But have the book anyway. It can only help, and can't hurt. And a buried room is never a waste. If nothing else, tornado's or power outage in winter.

  1. You overlook the fact that our current POTUS is not only a dumb fuck , but also extremely full of himself.
Bad combo when in confrontation with another country that won't back down where it comes to saving face.

  2. Right. I had Been in an f5 tornado in '76 really destructive, kinda like drone missle ordnance, so maybe should just go deep Minions.

Be the tactician and quartermaster brainiac, conducting your Bison Minion prep plans despite the macro msm blather. My previous rant on bicycle tires and heavy tubes was a direct action shopping foray based on early dog ears attention to trends, tells, and signs from media and society observations. Everyone is now giddily and gayly bicycling in the paid time off hiatus. It is an import merchandise so duh! Stock it in the hermitage yo!

Next tactical foray is to a "harbor freight" tools retailer. Cheap imports, yep but at my kinda friend in low places station sez go frugal with quantity at this point in the game. There may be some gun boat diplomacy in the spratly islands or china straights, or just plain inflation price shocks making those hard durable necessity tools or equipment more unobtanium later. So burn any stimulus, .gov gibs, or found sofa coinage on kit items. Because collapse. After being an on the ground living history witness to the toilet paper famine of '20, my piss ant Minion self does not want to push my luck against the coming onslaught. Stay frosty anyway.

    1. JUST to win the economic war, China keeps its manufactured goods away from US ports. Go long on that trend. Nothing else has to happen to make that a reality, than what has already happened. Shop NOW, no do-overs, last chance. Period. The end.

  3. I've come to the conclusion that it's all Kabuki Theatre. China-USA-Russia were working together in the release of the virus. Who needs nukes that scorch the earth when you've got a very quiet sun with it's own brand of disaster? The real fun begins when the grid goes down so any solar setup (if it survives even with reduced output) is still a good insurance policy.

A generator with a modest fuel supply will keep the freezer going long enough to can up the meat on a wood stove. Start practicing now because there's a learning curve.

    1. Luckily with canning, the learning curve just costs you some lids and a bit of heat. And the curve is a LOT shorter than most other things.

    2. Canning on an electric or gas stove is pretty easy. Regulating the fire in a wood stove to keep the pressure constant, not so much. It's rather the same art as operating a hillbilly distillery which also purifies water.

    3. Point taken. Got spoiled with propane, tend to forget that isn't everyone's back up

  4. I have the PDF of that nuclear wars survival skills book. It’s a pretty good publication, and is worth it alone, just for the fallout shelter. As with yourself, I was more interested in the earth sheltered aspect, as opposed to the radiation proof aspect. I’ve looked at a lot of different plans for simple earth sheltered options, and this is one of the easiest. As per the experiment performed in the book, a family of 6 were able to build the basic shelter in 36 hours. And that with the father and the oldest son doing all the work (The rest of the family members were either sickly, gimps, or too young to be of any use).

Here’s a link that covers just the shelter from that publication. But you would also want to download the book, because there are a few details missing from this link, such as what to do if the earth is less stable. In its simplest form, you can build it for practically nothing, save for your labor.

I too have little fear of a nuclear exchange. There’s only one country that has been crazy enough to go down that path, which just so happens to be the one country that insinuates that any other non-allied country, should they get a hold of such a device, would do so :D

I too doubt the nuclear combat and I live near a major Air Force Logistical Center, so if we do go nuclear, this area will certainly be thermo vaporized and I won't get the chance to kiss my butt good-bye.
When the Chinese, North Korean, and Iranian war threats come about via MSM, I don't pay them much mind as far as invading the U.S. goes as all three have extremely limited long distance sea-land capabilities. But China is certainly making advances, not so much as naval vessels but creating bases closer to the North American continent.
However, existing "sleepers" already within our borders is another story; they could wreak serious havoc.
Recently, you linked a free Kindle read about a virus released in the U.S. that killed everyone over a certain age. It was done by China and they came in and used survivors for slave labor to bury the dead and clear the way for Chinese citizenry to populate the U.S. to ease the over population there. That story was certainly more plausible in the way to do it.
Don't know if you caught it, but the Notes From The Bunker Blog, I believe 5/20 was interesting in the replies from folks who prepper stock piled for years and after inspecting their goods (mostly food) was bad. Plastic containers, broke, rotted, etc. After reading through the comments I didn't feel so bad about not having a greater stockpile. But I learned from what they passed on.

  6. Why would the ChiComs nuke the U.S., they need our land to raise food for their population and our people to work as slave labor who also buy their crappy products. There is no rational reason for a nuclear war, especially since China has basically won the second Cold War before we even realized it was going on.

    1. Agree about the already won part. Questioning the farm colony part. Lots of space much closer, with easier transport. Plus, South American food for manufactured goods is easier than occupation costs here

  7. I use some elements of "one second after" as scenario training modules, along with the standard nuclear war protocols. The blast or effects of wmd events is the start, but dealing with people, adversaries, and supply infrastructures are a lot of downstream items to consider. Especially as a deplorable prole, there is no v.i.p. bunker space reserved for me. Drats!

  8. This is in reply to an earlier comment from a minion about his father (Boomer or WWII / Korea Gen) being a survivalist who stockpiled food in the belief nuclear war was imminent. He was correct and it's only sheer luck that everyone could laugh at how silly he was

Command and Control: Nuclear Weapons, the Damascus Accident and the Illusion of Safety by Eric Schlosser – review https://www.theguardian.com/books/2013/oct/25/command-control-eric-schlosser-review

During the Cuban Missile Crisis Soviet Nuclear Submarines were given the orders to launch ICBM's at the US however the order was struck down by some Soviet Navy Commander who wasn't even supposed to be on the submarine. The US were to launch nukes at China, a nation not involved in the crisis, if the Cuban Missile Crisis went hot. Don't think that China is oblivious to that

Then there's the question of where are the missing nukes? South Africa said that they dismantled theirs but did they?

Throw in that to be considered a nuclear power a nation has to have the nukes warhead mounted on a delivery device. To have the warhead in one room, the delivery device in another and apparently that's OK.

Then there's places like Japan who it's estimated that they can have nukes very quickly (a couple of months from memory).

So long winded way of me saying survivalists are just people who know the risks and took action to protect themselves and others in the good times even though the worst hasn't yet eventuated. Well, this current event is pretty exciting (for want of a better word) and I'm sure glad I have a stockpile of food

    1. I guess she saw the bankers stripping the copper out of the walls and figured, what the heck. If they can do it, so can I. Liquidate pennies on the dollar and escape. Hard to think of a better place to go than rural Ozarks, but if she has a support group elsewhere I guess that's an improvement. Yeah, sucks to be the dude, but this is the apocalypse we are talking about. Congratulations.
